What an AMAZING match between Petra and Mugu. I love both, but I my heart was with Petra. Bravi to both ladies. I hope Mugu can build on this and get back to the top echelons, where she belongs.

Random observation: why are the ball kids/people dressed like they’re wearing the South African flag? (I know it’s not exact, but that’s what I see every time.)

James Blake has improved so much as an announcer/commentator. He used to be just ingratiatingly bland, but now he has so much more of interest to say. Perhaps being the Man in Charge of the Miami tournament has given him confidence. Whatever the reason, it’s a welcome change. (He’s also improved his voice a lot; IIRC he used to have a bad case of vocal fry.) Way to go, James!

I think a lot will depend on just how much she can improve her conditioning and movement in the ten days or so since she lost to Raducanu in Cincinnati. I don’t know how much is feasible. I have the same thoughts about Naomi. And obviously motivation is a factor for both ladies. Fingers crossed (especially for Naomi, at least as far as I’m concerned.)

I really enjoyed watching Coric play last week. I forgot how good he was*. And his improvement on the serve was amazing, especially for someone who had shoulder surgery. I hope he can contend regularly at majors. It would be nice to have someone from his generation for whom to root. (I don’t know if he’s a good guy, but hopefully he's better than Zverev, Tsitsipas and Medvedev. Actually, I enjoy Medvedev’s spectacular game and am often amused by his moody, Safin-esque personality, but he’s also a sourpuss tanker, so YMMV.) *Also hot.

I caught a few minutes of Rafa-Taylor (gosh, there are a lot of great looking guys on the tennis tour!), and the commentators made a mention of Rafa possibly being injured. I have to go back to work but can any of you explain what’s going on with Rafa?

I didn’t see the match. Did Sinner choke? I expect his opponent raised his level. Nadal, Fritz, Kyrgios and Garin are on the other half of the draw and wouldn’t see ND until the final. He will play either Goffin or Norrie, who are playing now, in the semi-finals.

It’s amazing just how much I can’t stand Djokovic.
