I'm thinking of at least eight friends of mine who were casual but warm fans of figure skating, absolutely would have followed the figure skating season, absolutely would have been aware of when the World Championships were on and happily watched them, but are now completely unaware of when events take place. It didn't even occur to me to ask any of my friends if they saw any of the WC. I know I would have been greeted with a slightly blank look and, "Oh, right, ice skating. I really like ice skating. When is it on?"

I'm glad Rafa took the conservative decision, however disappointing it was to the entire tennis community. We need him to stand in the way of a Djoker Slam by winning RG for the 12th time! Get better, Rafa!

I just want to say that I think Michelle is charming, thoughtful and lovable and might just be the best chef this season (she had the dish that Tom said was the best dish of the season.) I'm rooting for her.

I'm curious how Medvedeva's move and work in Canada is being funded. Does the Russian federation still support her? Does she have private sponsors that provide funds? I ask because I would assume the Russian fed might wash their hands of her.

I'm coming to love Michelle and hope that she's on the "finding herself as a chef" arc we've sometimes seen on this show. I thought that Kings of Leon lead singer seemed like a jerk. And an idiot. His wife did not strike me as very intelligent either, but she seemed nice at least. Who was the guy near the window who said he was a regular Top Chef viewer and was dying to be present when Tom pronounced a dish the best of the season? That was so charming. I don't believe he was identified, though.

It was news to me that they were dating. (Sorry, didn't mean to imply they had married.) I'm always happy to see when star hetero guy athletes date/marry fellow athletes. It seems far more likely that there is a relationship of respect and not possession there.

I don't know. A tense five-setter is not the best prep for playing Rafa. Perhaps DeM will luck out and this will be the match where Rafa gets his hardcourt injury (I'm definitely hoping not, but it has been a pretty regular thing lately.) I think that's DeM's best chance. Speaking of appealing young Aussie players, I just love Ash Barty. She's adorable. She could challenge Naomi O in an Adorable-Off. ETA: Whoa, skinny American Anisimova just took out Force of Nature Sabalenka whom many thought would win this thing. She dominated her. WTF?

I'm hoping this signing means no Machado. The team the Yanks fielded the last two years was so likable. Manny would have to be VERY different from how he appears to not spoil the likability factor.

I'm certainly no expert in ice dance and can't appreciate edge work and other technical ice dance stuff AT ALL, but it seems fairly clear to me that P/C are in a whole different league when it comes to ease of movement, power, fluidity and control compared to the other current top teams. A far more expert ice dance viewer on another board wrote: "It's obvious ... when you see Sinitsina/Katsalapov skate back-to-back with P/C that P/C are just on their own level (for now). I don't usually like it when people go OTT into that sort of hyperbole, but it's true in the case of P/C. They are doing things most ice dance teams CANNOT do with their edges, how they complete and finish the elements, how they link it all together, how seamlessly they dance, and how well they dance. There's a level of polish ... that no other ice dance team has." I also TOTALLY agree on H/B's cool, beautiful free dance. I would love to see P/C do something with a similarly quirky dance vocabulary.

I'm finding the FETV edits of the MTM show really annoying. They are leaving out whole scenes. I love the episode where Lou first falls for Charlene. There's this charming scene where Charlene visits Mary in the morning and to ask why Lou is getting cold all of a sudden, and Charlene can't believe how much breakfast Mary eats. It's adorable, but it was completely gone in the recent FETV broadcast.

Okay, Puig is repulsive (even though I'm rooting for the Dodgers.) BUT ... Unlike the billions of blah, blah, blah home runs hit during the regular season, THAT is why a homer is exciting. It's been earned by wearing down the pitcher. The game and the series are teetering in the balance. Can the pitcher get that last out? And ... boom. Exciting.
