Coming from a year in the future, I can't remember Paul being so plain giddy over any judging segment as he was over all the yummy Yorkshire pudding fillings. He was close to going, "Whoo-hoo!" I'm worried about Selasi. I was worried last week when he said he hadn't practiced with the flour for the Showstopper bake. Is he perhaps too laid back and not quite obsessive enough to compete? And in the (Not Quite) Separated At Birth category, Candice reminds me of Natalie Dormer, and Kate looks a lot like a less glamorous, real-world-mommy Kate Middleton.

Why doesn't he have a coach? What's the story? I was hoping one of the announcers would address the elephant in that particular room.

I bristle hearing ANYONE refer to grown women as "girls." Especially other "girls," to be honest. -

Oh, the duck episode might be my favorite of all, if only for the incredibly tender scene with Rob and Richie when Rob has to break it to him that Stanley has to go live at the lake, so that he can live. -

It's an AMAZINGLY funny episode. There are so many hilarious moments and grace notes, I could list dozens of them. Are you watching the whole episode on DVD's Lifesabeach? I find it so frustrating how much golden material is sacrificed to commercials. One favorite line that didn't make it into the episode that I recorded from ME is Rob saying to Buddy: "You son of a gun. You Uhny Uftz-ed me," and Buddy replying: "Rob, I've done a lot of rotten things in my life, but I never Uhny-Uftz-ed anybody." -
I love you, Aaron! (13-year old me squeeing).

I thought all three candidates did a good job with the bit last night, especially Warren and Pete. Sanders obviously has NEVER held a puppy before. -
John Smoltz is doing a really good job tonight, making a lot of interesting points. I also enjoyed Costas, Girardo and Kitty this afternoon.

Yet when we met some of them (the feckless committee) they were all dressed in modern day (albeit dowdy, earnest) clothing. -

Boy, this iteration of Chidi is so much more attractive than before. (He of course was adorkable before.) He almost looks like a different person. -
Any other Yankee fans concerned about the malaise the team hit post clinch? I mean, I understand they've been using all the scrubs from the bullpen, but that doesn't account for the swoon at the plate. I'm concerned (cue Tim Gunn hand to the face).

Just when we thought Dai couldn't get any cooler. This is awesome.

On first watch, I LOVED these. It's so nice to see these supremely talented skaters stretching artistically.

The Stros are looking mighty scary.

Who did BP's hat? I keep thinking it must have been Nike.

I don't like those seams on Chrissy's dress. It ends up looking cheap IMO. -
Listening to Lindsay Davenport do the commentary on the women's final on Tennis Channel was a pleasure. The ESPN folks are either too wed to whatever the "story" is (all three Chrises and P McEnroe), trying to promote their brand (J McEnroe and Gilbert) or they're a little too bland (MJ Fernandez and Darren C). Tennis Channel seems to allow the commentary to be more natural. Martina, Lindsay and Jimmy Arias, though, are the standouts IMO.

I know! I especially liked seeing her beautiful, graceful hands with natural, short nails. (I'm really over the long, brightly colored fake nail look.)

Agreed that this is not a good look for a grown woman. Congratulations to Bianca. I wish it had been a better match.

I have a question about Alexis's audition song "A Little Bit Alexis." Is it a take-off of a specific song? I have a feeling I'm totally missing a lot of the references.

A Serena-Andreescu final could be a barn-burner. I wonder if it would be hard for Andreescu to deal with the crowd being strongly pro-Serena. She's very young and inexperienced. She also seems like a powerhouse emotionally, so maybe she could handle it. That's assuming she beats Bencic, which is no certainty.
