  1. This may have already been posted: in Canada all the new Treks are only available on Paramount +. Frak the streaming gods.
  2. The San Ti already know all there is to know about humans. How would a frozen head increase their knowledge or empathy? I hope Will’s head was truly dead, being a self-aware frozen head in space for hundreds of years is nightmare fuel.
  3. She may be asexual, except whatever it is she feels for Sergio
  4. You would probably end up drinking a lot of the nanofibres. Which would do…..interesting things to your digestive system.
  5. Poor Saul, he is such a good person and an extremely supportive friend, especially to Will. I cannot help but think how all that unquestioned power isn't going to corrupt and destroy him, even if his intentions are the best. The other two Wallfacers are used to power. I noticed that the UN introduced Saul as someone who "Works with the best minds", not A Best Mind himself. Interesting. As for the rest of the world, I think we would handle the arrival of the San Ti the same way as global warming: It's a huge problem, but we don't have to worry about it right now. After the initial panic and novelty wears off, most people will go back to trying to live their lives.
  6. Did somebody sabotage Staircase for some reason? Or was it simply one of those space things where one in a million things goes wrong? This reminded me of For All Mankind: it’s always a loose cable that will frak up your mission.
  7. Maybe they are is suspended animation? Give me 400 years and I’ll figure out how to build a warp drive or a Stargate thing.
  8. One of the things I’m enjoying about this show is a complete lack of gender politics. The world is so full of brilliant female scientists and engineers it’s not even commented upon. (I don’t know if some of the book characters got gender swapped). In this way 3 Body reminds me of For All Mankind after the first season. Apologies if this was explained and I missed it: how is communication with the radio thing instantaneous if messages back and forth would take four years? Is it an AI or some quantum entanglement hand wavy thing?
  9. The Irony is painful. Ye goes from watching her father be killed stating that the existence of God can neither be proven or disproven to leading a cult.
  10. This is like Arthur C Clark’s Childhood’s End, only more messed up.
  11. How could life evolve on a planet that unstable? Was there a super-long stable period? Did San-Ti evolve super fast? Or did they evolve on some other world? Their calendar must be a mess. How can the San-Ti even measure days, months and years with any consistency?
  12. I haven't read the books, but I'm digging this. I usually don't like video games within shows for the same reason I don't like Holodeck Star Trek Episodes, it’s reality twice removed. But I'm finding the game evocative. I like how the setting changes according to who is playing (Tudorish Europe or some dessert Asian setting). The extreme change of seasons felt very Game of Thrones. Winter is coming!
  13. I'm confused about Liv. IIRC, she is married. Isn't being supportive her husbands' job? In any case, I am loving the platonic relationship Liv has with work Husband Mike. I'm glad Mike is slowly becoming self-aware that he is getting in his own way of his happiness.
  14. Harry is going to have his heart (Or whatever the equivalent is for his species) utterly crushed.
  15. Catherine continues to be the most compelling person on this show.
  16. I remember the Nowack thing! And in FAM, the women often keep it together better than the men.
  17. I respect this show more than I love it. I know it sounds shallow to say "I want to see pretty dresses!" when poor Catherine is recovering from her Work Camp trauma, but there it is. Maise Williams is crushing it. I’m waiting for her to take the face of the enemy and exact some vengeance. (Sorry, wrong show).
  18. I’m ready to abandon ship too. I watched two episodes of “The Signal” on Netflix which is similar. What is it with shows about female astronauts who may be going mentally unstable after they encounter something weird? (See also: Lucy in the Sky). Why doesn’t this happen to male astronauts? Ugh.
  19. This must be a very expensive show. For All Mankind must be dealing with simelar budget issues. Not always a bad thing, sometimes a constrained budget causes people to be more creative with story rather than FX. Of course, a huge part of any show's budget is actors.
  20. I’m looking forward to this. The US Secretary of State looks a LOT like Hilary Clinton. That can’t be a coincidence.
  21. Yes. As I stated above, Mike is one of my favourite characters, but I wouldn’t want to work with him or be in a relationship with him, even though he is super handsome. Question: isn’t Liv the Deputy Sheriff? What did I forget from last season?
  22. Love this show. I find Sheriff Mike hysterical.
  23. I too am using this show as FAM methadone. So far it seems like a cross between Lucy in the Sky and Gravity. One little touch I liked is how the Husband and Daughter got to the ESA building by bike, which is a perfectly normal thing to do in much of Europe.
  24. Yes. Maybe now that the war is over we can get back to fashion! Not that the WWII parts aren't compelling. The Nazis are repulsive without being cartoon caricatures, which makes them even more terrifying.
