Live With Kelly And Mark - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Shermie's topic in Live With Kelly And Mark
I'm watching this morning after not watching regularly for over a year. Has Kelly been disrespectful and sarcastic towards Gelman for a while now, or just today? She seemed to find it difficult to hide her contempt, which is surprising since she's an actress. LOL Now she just made a remark to Ray Leota....lol -
7 Little Johnstons - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 7 Little Johnstons
I like their attitudes towards parenting, too. It's not easy these days, that's for sure. I wanted to comment on your tonsil/adenoid surgery question since I just had my adenoids removed last month. lol Now when you wake up from surgery, you don't feel any pain at all due to a nerve block they give you while you're out. I was chatting away as soon as I woke up in the recovery room! LOL I'm sure Alex felt pretty sore and probably wasn't speaking as much the next day though. My surgery was 2 days before Thanksgiving and the turkey dinner that my husband made was the first solid food that I had post-op. I'm glad that they had this surgery done for Alex at his age. No parent wants to see their child undergo surgery, but we do what's best for their health, not what's most emotionally comfortable for us, right? LOL (Sorry for rambling on.... lol) -
7 Little Johnstons - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 7 Little Johnstons
I must've missed where they said that Elizabeth was homeschooled. I've read about it here. Do you happen to remember which season or episode it was? I recently saw an older episode where Anna and Elizabeth were buying dresses to wear to a school dance (and in the end Anna couldn't go), so it must've been some time after that?? Thanks in advance! -
7 Little Johnstons - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 7 Little Johnstons
I've been watching Season 2, and just now going back to watch Season 1 OnDemand. After reading this thread, I specifically looked for the unibrows on Trent and Jonah, and I can say that they DO NOT have unibrows! LOL Not at all... actually they both have quite a bit of clear space between their 2 brows. However, they both have the forehead over-hang that some little people have, along with a deep crease right at the top of their nose where it meets the forehead, and if the light isn't shining right onto their faces, the shadow does make it look like they each have a unibrow. I like this family so far. They seem like the most down to earth of any tv family that I've seen. P.S. Right now the ski trip episode is on my tv, and that "chubby bunny" game with the marshmallows makes me upset because people have died from that. :( -
Marriage Boot Camp - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to David T. Cole's topic in Marriage Boot Camp
I can hardly understand most of what is being said, this season. I may have to turn on the Closed Captions! I don't know many of this season's "campers". So far, not too interesting.... -
Mark & Nikki: Touch That Window, Lose Your Hand
ShowsILoveToHate replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I really need to tell someone (all of you) who will understand.... A week ago I had surgery. It was out-patient and I feel mostly recovered by now. So... Mr. ShowILove drove me to the hospital and he had to wait in the pre-op waiting area while I got changed into a surgical gown, put on my fuzzy slippers, put a hairnet on, and had my IV started. I'm all set and this guy who was the spitting image of Mark (except maybe 10 years younger) walks over to me and starts to prep my arm for the IV to be inserted. I asked him if he was my anesthesiologist and he said "yes" but the entire time, he was SO distracted; got a call on a very old cell phone (I had the exact pale blue flip phone about 7 years ago) and then just walked away looking all distracted and started to say to the other people (nurses, etc) "someone, start her IV, I have to go to another room......". In those couple of minutes, all I could think of was "Out of all the anesthesiologists in all the hospitals in all the world, 'MARK' had to walk into my room!!!" I seriously felt a bit of concern at that point. I asked the next person who walked over to me "Are you short-staffed today? Not enough anesthesiologists??" apparently they took my concern seriously..... *whew* Ok so I'm making this story too long...so....yada yada yada.... eventually a very lovely Indian woman came over to me, introduced herself, and said she was my anesthesiologist. Everyone else that I encountered at this hospital were great as well. The thing is, I cannot get the image of this skeevy, Mark-ish anesthesiologist out of my mind! It's scary to think about him actually not getting that phone call that made him leave. When you're about to be operated on, you really need to have a sense of trust in everyone involved. I wish my husband had been there when "Mark" was there, because he watches this show too, and he could confirm that this dude was indeed the doppelganger of freaking skeevy Mark! They didn't let him come back to be with me until after the IV was actually started, and then he was able to stay until they were taking me to the operating room. But by that point I was feeling pretty good from the medication in my IV for anxiety. :D Ok I feel much better now! Thanks for letting me get that out. LOL P.S. I wonder if Mark has a younger brother who works at a hospital in Boston...?? rofl -
Kyle and Noon: Don't Talk To His Mom
ShowsILoveToHate replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I am so happy to see that Kyle and Noon truly love each other, and will have their own happy home life. Their wedding was beautiful, and Kyle seems like a damaged soul who just needed to find the right woman to bring out the man in him. He really has done well in making Noon feel at home and as comfortable in her new country as possible. Looking back at all of his talking heads which appear to have been filmed at the same time, his eyes are so red because he was on the verge of tears so many times. If he did have a drug habit, hopefully he'll stop now, which I think he alluded to when he said at the end that he has improved himself for Noon. -
I don't disagree with you, but the show is called "My (Whitney's) Big Fat Fabulous Life" so the details of her life are included. I do agree that she mentions PCOS quite a bit, but I believe she acknowledges that PCOS alone is not what caused her to get to 400 lbs. It started her weight gain, but then the rest is her. Now she's doing something about it. When you see current pictures of her, you can see the weight loss, which I hope she keeps up with. Her message about No Body Shame is all about not making *anyone* feel ashamed of their body, no matter what's "wrong" with it. She's not making excuses for all obese people; in fact there are the "Body Pos" people who at first didn't like the fact that she was trying to lose weight. She emphasized that for HER, her current weight is not comfortable, there are still things that her current body size doesn't allow her to do that she wants to do; and that she's starting to pay attention to her long-term health re; diabetes. She went down quite a few points on the A1C blood sugar scale and I know from experience with my husband that lowering that A1C is not always as easy as it seems it should be. That alone shows that she IS making changes in her life, even if we're not being shown that all the time on each episode.
-
I like Whitney and I believe the doctor was real who gave her the current A1C results. I think her motives are good; and sure, she wants to make a business from the "No Body Shame Campaign". So what? Look at "The Biggest Loser" franchise and all of the products that bear their name. Many health-related organizations have a paid body of employees, including some breast-cancer campaigns and animal-rights campaigns, etc. Someone started those "businesses" too. I see nothing wrong with Whitney benefitting from her own campaign. No one is forced to endorse this campaign, you know? I understand hate-watching, schadenfreude, and all that. But I like facts. Lennie is not a paid actor. He is her boyfriend, as he shows on his Facebook page, includimg some very adorable pictures of the two of them together. Looking at his life (his past, his painting, etc etc) he seems to be a gentle soul who appreciates Whitney's idiosyncrasies and her personality and upbeat attitude, etc. I guess that's all I have to say for now. :)

Melanie & Devar: Jamaican Me Crazy
ShowsILoveToHate replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I'm not a fan of this couple but I'd like to say that I saw Melanie post on FB that she shares custody with her ex; one week her son is with her, the next week he's with him. So apparently she doesn't have her son only on the weekends. -
Our Little Family - General Discussion
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Our Little Family
OMG. I have only seen a few episodes but I'm watching the NYC trip right now and I'm yelling at the tv because I'm shocked at what dopes the parents are regarding keeping track of their YOUNG kids while in one of the busiest and crowded cities in the United States. Geeeesh!!!! I think it's great that the parents want to travel with their kids, but except for the older boy Jack (?), I think they could've waited a few more years to hit up NYC. I realize that it was probably TLC's idea and they live relatively close.... but the parents don't seem to be very well prepared for spending time in the city with 3 little kids. Oh well.... JMHO. -
Like I said in the Episode 1 thread, I originally started watching Fringe in the middle of Season 2, at a point where there were a few fairly non-gory and non-violent episodes... anyway... then we bought Season 1 on DVD and eventually I got to see THIS episode! LOL If this had been my introduction to Fringe I don't know that I would've continued the rest of this episode, never mind the series! So.... I love how Peter refers to the "magic old man baby" and the "80 year old man baby". lol Thank goodness for his sarcastic humor! I love how in this episode, even though there's the Case of the Week, they build into the lives and pasts of the characters. Broyles calls together a meeting with Nina Sharp, among others. It seems odd that Nina seems to against Broyles' "new team" to investigate the "anomalies", and Broyles says that he hopes they'll be more successful than his last team. Peter finding Walter sleeping in the closet because he was so used to his life at St Claire's and how every night he'd sing "row row row your boat...". I love the very last line of this episode, Peter singing so his father can sleep. :) Walter's discovery of car seat-warmers. LOL This episode shows the start of Olivia and Peter teaming up, while Walter worked in the lab. I love the detective work in this episode, how they were able to "see" what the latest victim saw before she died, thereby being able to go to that location and catch the killer and his "creator". Olivia's realizations that all of her work with John for the past year and a half was done with her believing what he told her and where he took each case, and how she feels the need to go back to try and figure out what she might've missed and how she feels responsible for this killer having not been caught. That's all I have from this episode so far. P.S. I'm still squeamish about how the freaking killer gets the hormones from those women. Eeeeeek!!!

There is a thread for the rewatch; episode 1 - The Pilot is active. Join us in there :)

I KNEW your spoiler was going to be about this because I think this is one of the more obvious "dropped balls". I guess we had enough info about Peter's history that they felt didn't want or need to go into it further, but then the episodes with Big Eddie and the camera stalker, etc were totally unnecessary. I agree that they could've tied that up neatly with a brief conversation or something about it. You know, in retrospect, John Noble really didn't have Walter's affectations down at all; his "accent" and cadence to his voice changed a bit during the first couple of seasons. Poor Aussie, trying to combine an American accent plus a New England accent a bit... lol I LOVE Walter but I was glad once he nailed Walter down. LOL I agree with your assessment of Anna Torv. I didn't appreciate her excellent acting skills right away. But without giving away any spoilers, by the end of the series she should've been given an award!! :D I enjoyed Peter right from the start as well. :) You know, back when this show was on the air, I started watching it in the middle of Season 2. I think my first episode was "The Bishop Boys". My husband and I started to watch it because our son was DVRing it and one night there wasn't anything else to watch so gave Fringe a try. We loved it and continued watching each new episode. We were so happy when they finally released Season 1 on DVD. I guess that's why I don't mind too much about the difference in early Walter and established Walter, because I was already in love with him by the time I saw him being released from St. Claire's. LOL Also, we live here in Massachusetts and we got a kick out of how "local" a lot of it was (even though it wasn't filmed here).

I agree with all of your assessments of this group thus far. Mark seems to be a serious control freak. I hope he was kidding when he told her that she can't touch the glass (in the car) and then she immediately holds up her hand as if she's going to touch it again! I have a feeling she's not going to be as demure as he'd like her to be. The Mormons we've kind of seen before, so unless something out of the ordinary comes up with them, there won't be much to snark on (which actually would be a good thing because as much as I can't look away from a good train wreck, I hate to think of real people being in bad situations). The New York City girl (sorry, not remembering names yet) has her parents looking out for her, but that's only going to go so far because like someone else said, she's spoiled and used to getting her way. The PA lady and the Jamaican guy..... yikes.... I have a feeling that this has the potential to be really bad. Maybe I feel this way because of her young son being stuck in the situation. Even though the woman is a professional (nurse) and is attractive and has friends, I keep getting Dani-Mo vibes a little. And why does she have to go to Jamaica to "get him"? Unless she just wanted another Jamaican vacation, which I wouldn't blame her for.

Overall, this is my single most favorite episode. The characters and the slow bond that develops between an extremely angry Peter and a befuddled Walter is excellent. By the end of the 2-hour episode they're working together; using their combined intelligence, to help the FBI. It's so interesting too, to see that a lot of the mythology was already being laid down in this first episode. We see Nina's robotic arm and hand and have no reason to not believe her story of having cancer and needing to have hers amputated. I love the sharp back and forth dialog between Walter and Peter while Walter is explaining to Olivia how he can use her to get information from the comatose John Scott. Peter's sarcastic comebacks crack me up every time. I love it!!

I'd be interested in this too!

S21.E06: Most Memorable Year
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Dancing With The Stars
I have to give Bindi a free pass on this one. Almost everyone in first world countries around the world knew who her father was and that he died in an accident, AND that he included his children in everything that he did, so it'd be impossible for Bindi to choose any other year than the year her father died. But from what I've seen from her, she's not a melodramatic person, so I know it'll be sad (*I* was sad when Steve Irwin died!!) but we can't really expect Bindi to decide to choose any different year that's as memorable as that, although if she did want to choose a different year that was also memorable for her, then I'd be happy to see that too. Bindi just seems to be such an authentic person, not just an act for the cameras. She's always had that same very bubbly personality. :) -
I hate to admit this, but I caught part of it. At first I thought it was a spoof type of show, then I realized it was trying to be real. LOL I thought it was strange, to say the least. Is that show a regular show where other people submit to a lie detector test? I could tell that every answer/lie/truth was specially worded so that Tori would either look like a good person (comments about Shannon Dougherty) or like the poor wife of a cheater who still him. Blah. LOL What did you think of it??

S02.E02: She's Dying

Oh ok!!! I missed that! But maybe he was able to trace Michaela's phone? *never mind... I'll go crawl back under my rock...* <G> -
S02.E02: She's Dying
ShowsILoveToHate replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
Just a few random thoughts... We know that Michaela has Rebecca's phone, so maybe Eggs 911 is able to locate it via phone tracking like iPhone's "Where's My Phone?" app. Before Bonnie killed Rebecca she told her that she, too, was not treated well and yelled at, etc. so it seems that she was mentally and/or physically abused as a child. After seeing last night's episode and the bizarre conversation between Ann and Bonnie, I wonder if Ann "rescued" Bonnie in some way, but then ended up using her and/or abusing her but in a very subtle way, sort of how when a child doesn't realize when they're being sexually abused because the adult treats them so well that what happens gets interpreted in their minds as love instead of as abuse. I think that the bratty DA fell out of the window of the room where Annalise is. When they panned out, her legs were askew with one shoe laying a few feet away from her. But it looks to me like someone shot her in her eyes or poked her eyes or punched her or something? Much more gruesome than a gun shot, kwim?? -
Whitney is a goofball, there's no doubt about that. But when they show the videos from her childhood, she was *always* that way, just a fun-loving person who laughed a lot. :) That kind of puts her personality into perspective for me. She's not just showing off for the cameras; this is truly her personality. I am really enjoying this season so far. It's nice to see an upbeat, positive person going through the ups and downs of life. And of course there has to be "story lines" so that the producers and editors can put together a cohesive episode. Anyway, I'm glad she moved out. It's clear that she feels really good about that. And she looks to me like she's lost some weight.

yada, yada, yada...... Just bring back "Fringe" already.... Ok, had to get that off my chest. LOL Liked the movie (it was on this past weekend so we watched it again to freshen our memories for the tv show). Mr ShowsILoveToHate and I liked the show well enough. Agree that it was good that Bradley Cooper reprised his role; made the show's world more believable. Didn't know any of the actors except for Blair Brown. The helping the FBI thing is old...but can still be fun in a tv show. We plan to keep watching.
