Quakers and Catholics are not the same and it pissed me off that Catholics was accepted. It was very obvious from the clue that the answer was Quakers. I did say B.B. King instead of Ben E. King ::hangs head:: Would I have gotten credit if I just said King? You know, like Martin Luther Jr...

I know nothing about the Civil War, have no interest in it, and am georgraphically ignorant yet got FJ simply because I know Missouri is a large in area state. As in, it was a wild guess.

The Great British Sewing Bee - General Discussion
PaulaO replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in The Great British Sewing Bee
During this episode I sang "Don't Let Emmett on the Overlock (or was it serger?)" from season 2 Project Runway (my favorite season). Great British Menu???? I will have to look that up. -
I put my fingers in front of my face during the eels category. I hate those monsters.

The Jim Gaffigan Show - General Discussion
PaulaO replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Jim Gaffigan Show
I was under the impression that Dave's last name was spelt Marx, not Marks. Whatever. I've decided I can't stand the character. Why Jim feels obligated to him I cannot figure out. -
Justin alluded to the fact that he is SE Indian (or whatever the PC term is) when he said his father changed his last name to George in honor of George VI because George VI was whatever of India (emperor? viceroy? What a good J! question)
-
I like Justin a lot and it doesn't even bother me that he starts in mid-category. I liked his last name story. That's a Scandinavian tradition also. My great grandfather's name was John Carlson and his son changed his last name to Johnson, although my grandma stayed Carlson. i pronounce toque"toke."

Thank you, dear Lord.

Just from the intro I can't stand Matt. Slicked back hair, hyphenated last name, and he's already rocking side to side. I hope he epically fails.

I figured FJ! had to be a Mormon, and I always answer Joseph Smith for a Mormon. Need to change that Brigham Young. Lincoln????? I can't even.

I've seen GWtW 12 times in the theater and many times on TV. You might call it PaulaO's family's favorite movie. I hadn't seen it more than 10 years because It was the movie I was watching the night before I moved out of my married house. I figured enough time has passed for me not to associate it with my ex. I settled in last night and God, that movie is still brilliant. I never could figure out if Ashley really did love Scarlett. I say no, he was just physically attracted to her. And I don't listen to talk of "the movie shouldn't be shown because it says slavery is o.k."

Two clues in and I already hate Zach.

I DVR the show and had to quit during the middle of the first round. Painfully slow and Christie drove me mad. Glad to hear I won't have to see her today. And yes, I loved Kitty Carlisle. Sooooo glamorous.

I got Eastman right away because of Rochester. I looked up Eastman--he blew his brains out. I really like Harris. He can stay.

I was hysterical during the audtion but the subplot with Jeannie and the catcalls was stupid. I do heart Daniel. -
The Jim Gaffigan Show - General Discussion
PaulaO replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Jim Gaffigan Show
I didn't think either episode was particularly funny. In fact, the first episode makes me wonder if Jim is going through a crisis of faith. Heavy emphasis on religion and one's calling in life. Couldn't get through the second episode, even with a guest appearance by Carrot Top. I think Gaffigan's stand up is hysterical but this show just doesn't do it for me. -
I said Deathly Hallows Part 2 AND Nat King Cole for FJ. Why was "After all, tomorrow is another day" not in the Book Ends category.
-
Gordie Howe died. Alex is probably very sad.

I'm from Illinois, lived in Minneapolis, and completely choked on St. Paul (my favorite apostle, and see my name). I believe Hunter said the Philly Zoo had a special hippo exhibit which is why he took his girlfriend. But I totally cannot with the pointing at the board. I rented Tucker on VHS....

I have a theory (a theory, it is mine and belongs to me--Miss Anne Elk) that the military are the best players. Anytime a new player shows up in uniform I know the current champ is going down.

I'm re watching season 4 and Willam just puked. I know he wasn't kicked off for barfing, but it was never explained why he left. What's the T?
-
I said JW Booth for FJ! because I know absolutely nothing about the Civil War and I don't care. My history book for that time period is Gone With The Wind (and of course I knew THAT answer!). I really liked Buzzy's story about his daughter. He's won how many games and I don't think it's because his competors have been weak, although I'd love him to pay Alex Jacobs. Victor was simply annoying--how did he get on the show????? Keeping track of TS--is a TS where everyone guesses wrong, or when nobody rings in?
-
I have a love/hate relationship with Buzzy. He's smart, good looking, not a smart-ass (I thought his FJ! answer was quite clever), no annoying vocal tics, no swaying, no umming, starts at the top of the category. But I can't warm to him. Whatever. Not like he is a part of my life. I said Indiana for FJ. I live in Illinois so did a run through of the neighboring states. I dismissed Ohio because while it's not long north to south, it's wiiiiide east to west. I drove through Indiana a few weeks ago and it's not a big state.

I liked Franzen (is he the author outed on Oprah?) and liked that his charity was for the birds. I've decided Power Players and Teachers' Tournament are Jeopardy! light, especially the PP. It's just for charity so I'm o.k. with the board not being regular Jeopardy! tough. The Teachers' Tournament is a way to recognize teachers, although the questions could be tougher (or the teachers could be smarter).

My sister and I have a stock answer when we don't know FJ "What is I do not understand the question." That's what I said last night. I couldn't tell if they were looking for what kind of features, or the planet's name. Very confusing.
