Misheard Lyrics (Mondegreens): There's A Bathroom On the Right

I prefer the Seether version, too, and I grew up with the Wham! version. Seether does some awesome covers. Speaking of Seether, I had a mondegreen with them for a couple years. Rise Above This "I'll rise above this, rise above this doubt" is the correct lyric, but for a couple years, I thought it was "I'll rise above this, rise above this town" When I was a kid, I thought it was a corncob pile. Like maybe they were hiding it... -
That can just stay on Discovery+. What a joke. He didn't become a great and caring partner until she called him out on it. Which I guess I can understand, because if his wife just let him do what he wants, he's not going to think anything of doing what he wants without checking in with his partner.

I said nearly the same thing to Mr. Max when we re-watched this one. So what does that tell you... As to the new episode, not bad, not a lot of drama. Although Darwin (not his name, but I don't remember and Darwin is a pretty good replacement) was really dumb for wandering so far on his own without water. Reminded me of Seth. Lindsey was pretty bad ass, other than seemingly breaking into tears ever other segment. I loved how she caught that fish barehanded. Anyone notice the guy with the rifle? He was in the scene where Darwin was by the river, just in the background.

That's how Alan kept himself sane in the first season - he recited poems he remembered and he also sang some. I'd go bonkers without something to keep me occupied.

We tried something similar, but it went in the opposite direction. We had a settlement from a car crash and bought a brand new car. We could have paid it outright, but the loan interest was .09% and the savings account was making 1.5%, so we took the loan so we'd get that extra .06%. Then the market tanked and the savings was only bringing in .09%. So we just paid off the loan.

Small Talk: Ughngnggh! Ugghhnnn!

Senior pictures were in color. We didn't have to raise money, like @Nashville, what we paid for the books + the ad space sold covered the cost of printing. I didn't REALLY dress up, but I dressed nicer than usual. I don't remember any inappropriate pictures. Funny story about my yearbook, I was looking thru mine a couple years ago and couldn't find myself. Turned out I was looking under my married name. 😳 THAT would have been awesome. I forgot about school pictures one day and sent my son to school in an AC/DC Back in Black shirt. It is still everyone's favorite school picture of him and even though he's about 16 years older now, I still have it on my desk. BTW, he went full on Johnny Cash for his senior picture, black shirt, black tie, black suit. 😄 -

That's the only sand I see now as well. Like I said, Mr. Max cannot stand to be idle, so a vacation for him is hell. But there I times I really do want to put him thru hell... -
We got a Temperpedic a number of years ago, hoping it would help with Mr. Max's back issues. I hated it. I didn't find it comfortable at all. A few years ago, when we were remodeling my son's room as a surprise for when he came home from boot camp, we gave him that mattress (it was only about 5 years old) and got Personal Comfort adjustable beds, which are like Sleep Number beds. I love it. I can make it as soft or as hard as I want, I can adjust it so my sinuses don't bother me and if I want to sit up in bed, I can do it without four pillows. the only thing I don't like is the massage feature. Mr. Max uses it all the time for his back and it vibrates mine as well. At least, it did until I moved our beds about three inches apart. I feel like Lucy and Ricky now. 😄

Colton - At least he knows he's dirty. 😄 But I did notice that later in the episode, his face was cleaner. I remarked that to Mr. Max and he said, "Well, he was in the boat, so he figured why not?" I would not have eaten that bird, no matter how hungry I was. That was gross. But yeah for two big fish! Did I read the chyron right? Did he lose 68 pounds? More than Biko? Clay - He's still eating that deer! Dude! Great idea with the gill net, too bad it didn't work. Theresa - Fish baskets don't work in big bodies of water like that. You need a stream or something and even then, I've hardly seen them work. I don't know how she's going to survive on just roots and berries, especially since it's already November. Nice of her to give us the exact date. Her accent doesn't bother me; I work with a guy who was born in Australia, but spent lots of time in Israel and the US. His accent fluctuates sometimes, but it is predominantly Australian. Biko - Nice speech about his dad, but I feel like it's the beginning of the end. And yeah, dude, fix your brace. I'm really worried about him really messing up his ankle. @Melina22 - My mom was born in England and came to the US when she was 10. No accent, except when she gets really emotional. I used to piss her off when I was a kid to hear it.

My brother has had his same smart phone for about 15 years. He works construction, so it's a ruggedized model. He's dropped it four floors down from a roof, had it fly off the bumper of his truck multiple times, washed it AND dried it twice and it still worked. He was supposed to move to a smart phone this year, because his plan said he had to, but the smart phone didn't work right, so he's back to his other one. He's pretty happy about that. I don't hate my smart phone, because I can do so much with it, like compare prices when I'm shopping, play games when I'm waiting around, etc.

I don't think you're missing much, but I was never a huge Disney person. Plus I have 2 boys and at that time, it was nothing but Princesses. A total waste of time and money. -

When I was a kid, we had 2 pretty good vacations, until asshole step-father #1 lost his job and refused to find another one. We went to Canada one year and because I was such a nerd, I dug all the museums and such. But their Sea World, Marineland, was totally awesome. Another year, we did DC with a side trip to see cousins in NC. (Long side trip) Again, the museums were totally awesome. Other than a few weekends here and there, the only big vacation we've done as a family was a trip to Florida when the kids were small. My BIL's aunt had a timeshare that we bought off of her for the week so it coincided with my SIL & her family's annual trip. It was really great, other than the obligatory trip to Disney. Mr. Max cannot stand to be idle, so a vacation is hell for him. -
Comfort Food Books: Which Ones Call You Back, Again and Again?

I did my Stand reread earlier this year. A fun read in the midst of a pandemic... I'm due for Swan Song. -
We have a little runoff area from the hill that forms a little pool before the pipe takes it out to the creek. About 10-12 years ago, toads started breeding there. During May/June, I literally have to wave my foot in the air before stepping down to scare all of the baby toads (which are the size of a skinny pea) out of the way so I don't step on them. Many times I'll be walking through the yard and a much larger toad will hop into my path. At some point in the last couple years, some frogs found the water and have been breeding as well. So far, none of them have left the water, but we'll see...

I dunno, maybe he'd stop making so many commercials. -

Both movies are comfort food as well. I've seen both way too many times to count, and I own them on DVD and blu-ray. -

My biggest "comfort reads" are The Stand by Stephen King and Swan's Song by Robert R. McCammon. Not comfortable books by any means, but just books that I love. Every time I read them, which is pretty much yearly, I find something new. As to books that are comforting, Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts and The Princess Bride by William Goldman are a couple that I turn to every couple years. -
Fernando, who I've always liked, is a saint. I'd have told Dani to shove her wood drying rack and get up off her lazy ass and get some wood. Don't build something for ME to haul wood, do it yourself. What good were the baskets, other than to occupy her time? No need to weave baskets for gathering, you have a bag!!! I love how he threw her fish catching basket on the shore and just went in there caveman style, although I sure wouldn't. She was all impressed, thought he used it, just wait until she watches the edited version. 😄 I did like how Fernando said (paraphrasing) "I'm married, if she wants a wood drying rack, I'm building a wood drying rack."

This wasn't just to get in the garage. It was also to get to Bosch. She was his "special friend."

A friend of mine is a Q fanatic. I got him a Cameo from John deLancie for his birthday. He said it was the best present he'd ever received.

Where I grew up, there weren't a lot of houses that gave out candy, so I used to go to my step-grandmother's. There was a woman there that gave homemade cookies. 1) They disintegrated in the bag with everything else. 2) They tasted disgusting. But she was a very nice little old lady so we took the cookies to make her feel good. I remember we would roam far and wide until pretty late, filling up two pillowcases full of goodies. When we bought our house, I was stoked for Halloween. Never mind that there were no sidewalks on our road and cars tended to go fast on the flat part, once they came down the hill. I bought tons of candy and waited at the beginning of my (long) driveway. After an hour, not one kid showed up. As I was the only house on my side of the street, I ran across the street to the neighbor's and asked them if they got any kids. The guy lifted his eyebrows at me and said "Would you let your kid walk on this street in the dark?" So we took my kids to my in-laws and they went out with their cousins. It was now a timed affair and they were lucky to fill half a pillowcase.

I actually found a recipe to make this because it was one of Mr. Max's favorites as a kid.

I swear, they have marathons every other week. But it's cool; I got to see Dani Julien. I liked her and thought she got a raw deal on the first XL.
