I love how the response to the level of vitriol & racism Meghan Markle experiences from the British press is ‘but they live in a $30 million mansion , so it can’t be true’ - apparently AFG reads the daily mail, since that’s what they harp on all the time - ignoring that they have led the charge on crafting the narrative. I have no idea if MM is an awful person, but I’m suspicious that the only sources that say she is are the UK TABLOID press, and the seemingly unstable paternal side of her family who either don’t have a relationship with her and/ or have taken money from the tabloids to contribute to the tabloid narrative. Also, Harry is a grown a** man - stop with the ‘MM’ has destroyed the relationship between the brothers!

I’ve noticed since the new season started - all but the newbie are leaning towards Joy. Those closest are leaning away from Alyssa. She also walks out completely alone, far ahead of the others

A) Harry is a grown man, people need to stop acting as though he’s incapable of making choices on his own. B) all of the negative press about Meghan Markle comes from the British tabloids - not known for their unbiased (and I use the term lightly) ‘reporting’ and royal ‘sources’ who have a vested interest in ensuring that Charles, William and their wives escape scrutiny and always appear in the best light, no matter the cost. Dude literally threw 2 separate tantrums because his pen leaked, but instead the ‘reporting’ is focused on Harry being banned from wearing the uniform he earned or some imagined slight by Meghan because she raised an eyebrow rather than on Charles acting like a spoiled 2 year old. The only evidence presented that she’s selfish comes from very unreliable sources. She’s a convenient scapegoat for the royals. Say something often enough and in a loud enough voice, people will buy in. If you have any doubts, look at the republican party and their stellar ability to gaslight!

Is it just me or did anyone else enjoy the pettiness of hugs for Ana but everyone staying seated for Alyssa when they entered the stage? I’ll sit down now 😃

Maybe it’s my disappointment after reading Bees, but I’ve found this season tedious. I ended up fast forwarding most of the episode, but did enjoy the save by Ian at the end. That part deserved a rewind & rewatch. The rest, not so much!

Or maybe they didn’t have the same access as a white writer because their books were not destined for the regular stacks in bookstores or libraries, but the tiny sections dedicated to Black, Latino or any other ‘othered’ group that doesn’t receive the same promotion or publicity. Amber and Sunny were on point.

He fell while running for a cab, which implies he was trying to flag one down. You don’t have to run if you’ve called one and it’s waiting for you. Good episode! I liked that Robyn didn’t save the day, instead it was examining the evidence and how biases play into perception that led to the correct outcome. If only it worked that way in real life.

Sooo…. I’m at the 86% mark. Not fully engaged (not enough J&C), and I may not finish because of the plot twist that occurs at this stage of the book. I was so looking forward to reading this, even reread the prior two books in preparation, but I think I may be out.

I didn’t like the portrayal because other than the ponytail, it was nothing like the original character. Jo was never obnoxious (as portrayed here - it felt like someone doing an over the top Shatner impression!). Jo was tough but sensitive. Tough outer shell because she came from a different economic background than the rest of the students, and didn’t think she’d fit in. She was always my favourite character…

Lisa Welchel could easily have recreated the role - holy cow she looks the same! Kim Fields looks great as well and it was nice to see Mindy Cohn. Kathryn Hahn as Jo is not enjoyable (Jo was always one of my favourites). Never been impressed by Jennifer Anniston, and this didn’t change my opinion - and Lisa Welchel was right there! Gabrielle Union didn’t have enough to do, and I enjoyed Allison Tolman and Anne Dowd. Agree with the comments above that it would have been better with actual teenagers (or even 20 somethings), but still a fun watch! Diff’rent Strokes - Surprisingly low key performance from Kevin Hart (by KH standards). Loved!!! the theme song! Seeing Snoop made me laugh out loud. Much less campy than Facts of Life. The commercials were great. (Norman Lear looks like a muppet)

I’m not American, so other than being a neighbour have no real reason to know your history, but I’m pretty sure 1619 is referring to the introduction of chattel slavery, not Columbus ‘discovering’ an inhabited continent and declaring he’d found something new….

Watch Steve McQueen’s anthology ‘Small Axe’ for a hint of what life was like for people from the Caribbean in 1960’s Britain. They touched on it briefly with the difficulties Mrs. Wallace/the church had renting a space. Sadly, it’s very realistic that Cyril would not be making much. He’s a civil engineer who has to work as a mechanic. Having said that, I hate to agree, but Cyril & Lucille are a dull couple with no obvious chemistry.

Sunny has clearly stated that she has family members who are Haitian, not least her husband. Of course she’s upset about what’s happening at the border. She’s allowed to be angry. The US government has always had a double standard when dealing with Haitians - they have never been welcomed. The images over the last few days have illustrated that history clearly in a most brutal fashion.
