Spoilers and Speculation
JackONeill replied to Pete Martell's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
I can’t believe no one’s done the math. (And when I say that, don’t look at me to do it. Beyond my pay grade.) Here’s my thought/question spurred by the coming time-jump and seeing the size of the herd Aaron and Jesus were watching — How many Walkers can there be left?? Yes, I know any living person can change (if not “stab-headed”), but c’mon — shouldn’t we getting to the end of them?? Have Eugene run the numbers and get back to me. Thanks. -
Trying to save a friend who saved me!

Okay, that GOT me. They were all rushing to save him, and Daryl knew what Rick was doing, and he did what he could to help. That was beautiful.

It’s really nice of the Walkers to allow Rick time for these dream sequences.

If the blonde from Alexandria shows up, people will wonder who the hell she is.
-
Why Sascha? What strong connection did she have with Rick?
-
Maggie makes good points.

In retrospect, I think it would have been cool to do this episode with no dialogue.

Damn thing still doesn’t work. Where’s Dale when you need him? Oh, right ... dead.

Kill Rick, but let the horse live. Please.
-
I’m sorry, but no one is that tough.

I can see this show becoming Uncle Daryl Takes The Kids Out to Kill Walkers. It’ll be an old grizzled Daryl (not much different than the current version, just older) taking Judith and little Herschel out in the side-car of his motorcycle, killing Walkers and reminiscing about the good old days. It’ll be all hat, cowboy boots and crossbow. But this way, with kids taking up so much screen time, they won’t have to pay adult actors. Budget problems solved! The show can live forever. Call it: The Walking Dead, Junior Edition. -

I think the ratings could drop to the point that only 2 to 3 people are watching the show and AMC would renew it. Because, let’s face it, what else does AMC have? -

There’s probably a non-disparagement clause in their contract. A moderately successful actor with lots of shows under their belt and a bright future ahead probably wouldn’t worry too much about that. But someone like Chandler Riggs probably needs to weigh that carefully. If they speak, it could be costly, not just financially BUT employment-wise. But someone WILL talk. Give it time. -

Judith will spend her days face buried in a smartphone, no doubt solar-powered by Eugene. -

At least a shower didn't come into play. (Somewhat obscure TV reference.) -

Not to pick on Negan (but it’s hard not to, what with how TPTB built him up), but if you were to show a group of people who had never watched TWD two scenes — the Terminus trough scene and Negan’s interminable Do-Ray-Me scene — I think most if not all the people would pick the trough scene as the more suspenseful. To me, that is THE thing that shows how off-course this show went. -
I think TPTB has blown through the mandatory retirement age for Gibbs.

I know it's been commented on before, but Missy sure dresses like a slob. (Of course, the t-shirt she was wearing probably cost more than my house.) Seriously, I thought the FBI had regulations. I mean, fine, if she were undercover as a babysitter fine, but she wasn't. Another thing (and sorry to harp on Missy), she doesn't seem old enough to be assigned to a senator's case. Then again, it was good that she's not superwoman. Her last kidnapping it sounds went badly. So, she's not perfect. Having said that, shouldn't Sela Ward's character should have known that BEFOREHAND? Seems like she only learned of it half-way through the investigation.

What's sad and scary is that once Rick's gone, that'll leave us with only Daryl and Carol from the first season. Michonne, though seemingly in the top tier, joined the crowd in Season 3. Now maybe she has the chops (no pun intended) to lead, but frankly I haven't seen it. Or, at least, I haven't been overwhelmed by it. Sure she's a warrior, but can she lead. She didn't seem to be able to handle Negan. (Not that Rick could, either) I know TPTB are "elevating" Daryl to the ruling class, but I think that's more from sheer necessity. I mean who else would they? But Daryl was always a lone wolf, and never displayed much long-range vision. (Which I think Rick had, even though he failed sometimes in executing it.) And can you see Daryl sitting down with Eugene to discuss some complicated issue??? Carol is a great character and can lead, but does she want to? Like Morgan, she sometimes gets stuck on the moral dilemma of it all. Rick, on the other hand, made split decisions (usually). Lauren Cohen (Maggie joined in the second season, but is considered part of "the original team") is leaving soon. So, again, that leaves Daryl and Carol to lead, and when I say that I mean lead from a global standpoint like Rick did. Yeah, there's Ezekial and Jesus ... but c'mon! Oh, yeah, we have Tara and Aaron and Rosita and a few others, but seriously—where is this new world heading and who's going to lead it? I suppose, sadly, it'll be Negan. -
Unfortunately, the jury selection process — which I thought this show was built around — has become but a shadow. A little Bull psychology, and a few questions from Benny (as formulated by Bull), and bingo we have a jury. As far as the team, it seems as though Danny does the heavy lifting. She investigates, and usually solves, the case. Generally speaking, I know what the green/red thing is all about, but that’s one thing I think takes up too much time. They’re constantly cutting back and forth between TAC and the courtroom. The trials are not that complicated (not as presented here.) I think I know when “we’re losing the jury.”

I was wondering when someone was going to bring that up. And if that's the way this goes, it'll be so typical that TPTB couldn't find a way to be more original. Yet, they'll gloat about how marvelous they are. If that is how this episode plays out, they better give credit. (BTW, in that Twilight Episode, back in the '60s, there was some really cool, and moody, music.) -

I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. And I don't like to get personal but ... wasn't Nicotero a make-up guy at the start of TWD? Then, at some point, they let him behind the camera. My point—He ain't no Speilberg, and certainly no Hitchcock!!! Hell, I think the director who did the first Night of the Living Dead put together a better product on a way much more limited budget and with actors who were no actors (and knew it, and accepted it.) On another unrelated point, I'm pretty sure Jeffrey Dean Morgan mentioned on TTD, sort of under his breath, that TPTB let his charcter—Negan—become too big (can't remember the precise words) the last two seasons. Interesting. Even he knows it. -
You know, the bridge they were trying to build looks like something out of the Dept. of Transportation handbook for Highway 1 in Big Sur. Seriously, it looks like a damn serious bridge. Do they need something that ... massive? And why so tall, and so ... spanning? Tell me they scouted the riverback to look for a better place to build? (I suppose now that Rick is impaled on rebar, he has plenty of time to second-guess himself.) Another thing, and I know I should hand-wave this, but it looks as though Eugene is in charge of building the bridge. I know he’s “the Professor” [of Gilligan’s Island] of this crew, but seriously—how many degrees does the guy have? How does making bullets, making ethanol and building bridges (and everything else he’s opined on) tie in? My English Lit degree would be completely useless in the ZA. Oh well, at least Ezekiel and I could put on some splendid Shakespearean plays!
