  1. Oh, hell yes. I'd add Clara. I'm glad Sally Sparrow was only in one episode because she was clearly Moffat Model Female #1 (well...there is just the one model, really) and, while utterly lovely for one episode, would've become as tedious as all of the iterations soon enough. If only he'd left the Weeping Angels alone, too. If ever there was an example of the Law of Diminishing Returns, they're it.
  2. A place to discuss particular episodes, arcs and moments from the show's run. Please remember this isn't a complete catch-all topic -- check out the forum for character topics and other places for show-related talk.
  3. Pitting Ferrante and the pope against each other by offering Ferrante all the gold was cunning. More of that, please. I like Lorenzo a lot, I want to see more of the shrewd statesman is all. This is an issue with the writing.
  4. But he was so stoooopid going to Naples to begin with. The flogging and close-up taxidermy lessons were the least he deserved. Until he disarmed Alphonso he was just kind of...there, reacting while others had the active roles around him, not showing the smarts and leadership qualities I'd like to see from him.
  5. So this Gentleman's Guide is a musical version of Kind Hearts and Coronets. I'm sure the guy's a fine actor but no one out Guinesses Alec.
  6. Someone needs to do a show about Darko's mom!
  7. Did Clint just say Hedwig and the Angry Itch? Because that must become a show immediately.
  8. Are Topsiders traditional desert wear?
  9. So do these Aladdin waiters date the Beauty & the Beast dishes?
  10. Looks like it's very warm in the theatre: Tony and what's her name look very shiny. OMG that dress is going to fall off. The only thing keeping it up is Standards and Practices.
  11. This is making me regret my French heritage.
  12. Mark Rylance stole Lee Pace's eyebrows!
  13. Impressive stamina, Hugh. Not as impressive as the industrial strength spandex on these gals, but impressive. ETA: Dule?!
  14. Is this an homage to Bobby Van's epic hopping routine...from I don't remember where? Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtlHjso3LHA
  15. I don't have access to NY1 but am here to snark on the main show once it starts. It's my Emmy warm up.
  16. I never found I Love Lucy funny at all. Even as a child, I hated it and The Honeymooners, and time has only made me dislike them more. I try to avoid watching shows I did like as a child because I don't want to ruin the memory. Seeing The Wild Wild West on TVLand as an adult...no. No amount of scenes featuring Robert Conrad's tightly-clad ass justifies that show. However, I think Man from UNCLE held up pretty well if you can overlook Napoleon's piggishness (easier in some episodes than others). Thought of another one: I LOVED The Night Stalker when it was first on. It's unwatchable now.
  17. Sing it sister! On the one hand, no naked portly pope and warlord guy (Ludovico?). On the other, very, very disappointed hand, nothing but naked women and clothed pretty men. Between that and the BoL, it was sort of a boring season.
  18. So so late to the party because I horded the episodes for the summer drought and only watched them all today. I didn't see the mother reveal coming but I also didn't care--the BoL plot is fast-forwarding time for me. I also couldn't watch the eye torture. Eyes. Why did it have to be eyes? Can Andrea come back in visions, possibly with Giuliano? The show needs more of both of them. The show also needs more scenes of Riario and Lorenzo being smart and capable. Lorenzo in particular needs to step it up and be a little more clever--let's see why he's Magnifico a bit more. I like Nico, but prefer the adult Machiavelli on The Borgias. He has that wry delivery I love.
  19. Stanton on Person of Interest. It was just one cliche after another out of her mouth.
  20. Seconding the 3o Rock nomination. I'd also like to add that the Liz-Jack relationship was one of my very favorite TV relationships and am forever grateful they didn't ruin it by making them a couple (see also: Marshall and Mary on In Plain Sight). So many shows should've learned from those examples.
  21. I posted that one earlier on this page ^, ispansy.
  22. I think what I dislike is not the brightness, but the font size: I can see as much text on the screen as I'd like without hitting Control - several times. I've suggested a setting be added to the profile control panel. There are things I like about the layout here!
  23. I've been rewatching season 2 of The Hour, which is where I remember Tom Burke (Athos) from. I actually like him more in The Hour. It's not that I don't like him as Athos, it's just that I've loved other Athos..es...Athii?..and it's taking more time to warm up to Burke. I also think he looks better in period clothing from the 20th century than the 17th but I might just be swayed by the superior personal hygiene of more recent times.
  24. C'est moi, GHScorpiosRule! While I'm here...I dislike Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead--the whole obsession with dystopias and zombies can end anytime now, thanks--wanted to like Penny Dreaful but it lost me in the first 10 minutes.
  25. I've gone back to fast-forwarding through the interviews, both on TDS and TCR. They're either depressing or mind-numbing, and it gives me more time to watch @midnight and not be late for work.
