  1. Yes I'm aware. I was just pushing back on the underlying assumption a bunch of people are repeating on here that reading and education automatically make someone a good speller. That's just simply not always true in my experience, and I think sometimes people are overly simplistic about it.
  2. I agree they're probably not doing much reading, and we know they're not doing anything resembling real school. But in my personal experience, I think people tend to be either good at spelling or not, and it doesn't necessarily correlate with intelligence, education, or reading ability/frequency. So, Kaylee may still very well suck at spelling even if she was raised in a different environment.
  3. The best condolence I ever got after a sudden tragic death in the family was from someone who said "This is just awful. I'm so sorry." I don't know why people suddenly decide they need to be a philosopher or a theologian in those moments.
  4. I get that, but when they're gushing about doing time with their spouse, I think they think they're being flattering. I don't think they're consciously making a theological statement.
  5. Between that and them talking about living in The Big House, I find it psychologically fascinating how much the family unwittingly evokes prison to describe their day-to-day existence.
  6. LOL YES! When he first described how enraptured by his poetry they were, I was like "Oh I seriously doubt that, Thomas." And then everyone else describing how bored the audience was. 😂
  7. That's one of my favorite episodes! I also really enjoyed Mary's recollection versus everyone else's with people floating. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This was the episode when Humphrey's head started becoming one of my favorite ghosts.
  8. Perhaps materially, but I suspect the general atmosphere in that house post-Josh's conviction is probably not a lot of fun. I remember being a kid and all the adults in the house being mad and stressed out. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  9. Well I live in Arkansas too and I've never seen one for my town! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  10. My guess is Jed! has been appointed Daddy's proxy and is keeping an eye on them at the very least.
  11. I've thought some of that could simply be respect for his wishes. He doesn't seem to want to be found or bothered with press, so I think the kindest thing to do would be to honor that. And honestly some of it could be embarrassment too. It does appear something was very off with the way he was treated in his family, and it may be easier for the rest of the cast to not talk about it rather than acknowledge it.
  12. I think that ship has sailed. They seemed determined to double-down on the awful name from the beginning, and I don't think the ensuing years have made them any less ridiculous about it.
  13. Coppola must have really reined him in!
  14. Agreed. The first 2 movies are some of my all-time favorite films. That book is one of the most singularly ridiculous (and not in a fun way) novels I've ever read.
  15. My family refuses to play too. The last time we played, also probably about a decade ago, they all got mad at me for having good strategies and accused me of being a slum lord. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 On a side note, I find it hilarious that Rogers has its own version of Monopoly. I never knew that, and I'd have thought Bentonville with all its Walton money would have been a more likely candidate.
  16. Would nasal spray usage account for the amount in his system? From what I've read, he had 3,540 ng/ml, which the article I was reading claimed is essentially equivalent to a dosage that would be used for general anesthesia.
  17. You're welcome! The reporting on this has been a bit odd. I hadn't initially seen any of the additional clarification either and had been really confused too until I read the more complete explanation.
  18. FWIW based on the autopsy, the coroner reported the levels in his system would not have been from his treatment because it would not have stayed in his bloodstream that long, suggesting he was likely taking additional amounts of it on his own beyond those treatments.
  19. All the Christmas episodes I've watched were a half hour long like regular episodes. But I agree it's a shame they're cutting several minutes per episode. It's why I'm not rewatching them on CBS. From what I've read, a lot of my favorite little jokes/funny moments are being cut due to it.
  20. Oh that's been on my to-read list! Glad to hear it's really good.

Yeah while I can easily believe she wasn't sober while doing it, I don't think it's really the excuse she thinks it is. My favorite part of this is she went through the effort to make so many different accounts to cover her tracks but then made sure to like her own book and friend herself with each one. LMAO Like, you don't really have to be Columbo to put that together, but I am sure she thought she was really slick!

Thanks for posting this--I've been following it and it's a mess! The entire time I was reading about it, I kept thinking it was like R.F. Kuang's Yellowface come to life. I saw today where one of the authors she targeted really tore into the apology, noting that the timeline Corrain uses for explaining her behavior does not really match her actions. She was apparently posting these bad reviews months before she acknowledged in the apology. In the apology, Corrain also claims she wasn't sober while doing this--that I can believe--and she says she's going to rehab.
  23. It was a joke to go with the first three kids' names because their initials would have then spelled out SHIT. Jessa ruined it by choosing Fern. Now if they go with Tozer we get the decidedly less amusing SHIFT.
  24. I don't think she can multitask quite as well now. Even by Jill standards, she's seemed unusually unhinged lately.
