  1. That's what really bums me out. I really do like her and some of the other cast members, and I probably would enjoy them if I watched. But not at the cost of JRM's Henry!
  2. Oh no I always liked him! Also tend to agree with Ebert's theory that "no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad." I mainly associate him with Coen Brothers movies, but I was happy to see him still acting in Knives Out and The Righteous Gemstones.
  3. Yes and I've never been able to get over one of the most famously redheaded persons in history being a brunette. They didn't even try. LOL I have occasionally thought about watching it, but because of my complaints about the Henry casting, I never can bring myself to start it.
  4. I suspect he does, but I also am not sure he really cares, which is probably the same difference.
  5. Yeah by all accounts, they absolutely hated each other on that set, which I'm sure is a factor in the attitude expressed, but Robert Evans was the villain of her story. If he'd just kept his mouth shut or offered up some civil comment that he didn't know about that but was sorry she'd experienced it, the focus would not have been on him. He just basically made sure way more people now reminisce about how terrible he is at acting and read his hateful diatribe than if he'd been quiet or gracious.
  6. Baldwin's unhinged social media meltdown about this is a masterclass in how not to respond.
  7. Which site are you using? The secretary of state site is very accurate in reflecting voter information on file with the county clerk's office.
  8. That's true, but I suspect the show may not mean the same to her as some of the other cast members for whatever reason. She could just as easily and perhaps more comfortably reconnect with them one-on-one rather than at a reunion. This came up with the Band of Brothers vets and their reunions. For a lot of them, it was such an essential part of their life that those connections were super important to them. But for at least one of them who went on to be career military, it was just one of many units he served with. He was proud of his service and he was polite to people who reached out to him to reminisce, but a reunion didn't interest him. He also didn't seek out those connections or seem too troubled by missing out on them.
  9. Honestly, with the comments that were made about her by M. Gilbert and Arngrim, I don't blame her. Some of the anecdotes about her as a kid do make her sound mean, but some of it doesn't reflect well on them either. In any event, I don't blame her for avoiding the inevitable revisiting of all that.
  10. It's the 50th, but I agree it is interesting he finally decided to attend. I didn't personally see it on Facebook, but apparently she administers the Little House Cast Reunion page. I think I misspoke and called it a group. That being said, I probably should have done some more investigating since I just saw it posted on Reddit.
  11. I know we've discussed the disappearance of Jonathan Gilbert before, but apparently he will be appearing at the cast reunion later this month. Per some discussion I saw on Reddit, Alison Arngrim confirmed this on her Facebook group. https://littlehousefestival.com/
  12. That makes way more sense, but I totally read his name as a Spanish-style Almanzo all the way through the books. LOL
  13. Agreed. I've even some speculation she may have been high on the clock. I'm honestly surprised it took as long as it did for someone to get hurt, based on every anecdote I've read about the set.
  14. Interestingly enough, the movie was so low budget that they actually hired her for two jobs--armorer and assistant prop master--and that was apparently a big part of the reason why they couldn't hire any other armorer. No other professional armorer would agree to that. But I don't think she's a scapegoat who was unfairly convicted either. She's the one who agreed to those terms. Apparently, when Baldwin would use the gun to point at people like he would have used his finger, rather than correcting him, she just told people to move out of his way. The detail that floored me the most was an anecdote about her sitting on the pebble-strewn ground loading a pistol. It took other people pointing out how unsafe that was if she accidentally got a rock in the gun for her to move the activity elsewhere.
  15. From what I've read, the scene didn't call for him to pull the trigger. He also, per behind the scenes footage, had repeatedly been using the guns to point at things. It's also been said he skipped whatever mandatory training they did have and kept rushing the armorer because he was impatient. It doesn't sound like he was a hapless victim of the set and was actively contributing to the safety issues himself.
  16. Everything I'd ever read about that set was awful, but the testimony from that trial really underscored what a disaster it was.
  17. Yeah I know a lady whose son is in prison. State versus federal, but she gets 4-hour visits monthly with him.
  18. Thank you! I have had a lot of fun over the years with my "hey, don't blame Arkansas for that facet of the Duggars" and "okay yes do blame Arkansas for that one" posts. 😂😂😂😂
  19. I'm also very confused and saddened by this. I've been here nearly 9 years and really enjoy the sense of community we've created here. It's not perfect, nor is any online space, but overall, I've found this one of the smartest, funniest, most supportive places I've ever encountered online. I really enjoyed reading the opinions of people from all walks of life. It seems the site owners are disappointed in the demographics of the commentariat but also discount the diverse perspectives that come from people all around the country and world, from very different professions and with very different religious beliefs, participating in these discussions and usually doing so amicably. I'm not going to repeat the articulate defenses others have made of this forum. But I would point out that if the administrators want in-depth, perceptive, challenging discussions, that's what this forum specialized in and what fundie snarkers have done for years. It may be overlaid with a veneer of sarcasm and hyperbole--and one can debate what constitutes ethical snarking--but while the rest of the world framed the Duggars as either a wholesome model family or a bunch of hilariously corny hicks, snarkers were the ones who first recognized that things were very rotten in Denmark. And the decade of scandals and criminal activity that's been revealed since has only proven that right. A lot of this was done through a strongly feminist perspective. There's something very cathartic about finding likeminded people who saw through the spin and hype. In any event, I wanted to thank all my fellow snarkers for all the laughs and thought-provoking stories we've exchanged over the years. Hoping I'll still see all of y'all around the internet.
  20. That would have been so scary! I remember being a kid and my grandmother getting me and my brother up in the middle of the night. She made us get in the bathtub and threw a mattress over it. I had to do this too. Ended up canceling Netflix and Hulu and don't miss them. I kept Amazon Prime but only for shipping. If I only had it to stream, I'd have canceled that too.
  21. Oh God me too. I love messy train wreck characters usually, but I like my detectives to be functional adults without personal drama or horribly traumatic backstories who also get along with their coworkers. LOL That's true of both TV and books. Just do your detecting without being an angsty, troubled drama llama or an asshole!
  22. Hope all of you are safe! As part of the same weather system, our temperatures here will have dropped 50 degrees in about 24 hours by tomorrow.
  23. Yeah it is superb. One of the best seasons of TV I've ever seen. But I had to decompress a while after watching it, and rewatches don't make it any easier.
  24. Yeah I watch a lot of depressing TV, but season 4 is pretty much the saddest thing I've ever watched.
  25. Just out of curiosity: how far are you? I watched it for the first time a couple of years ago and really loved it, but yeesh it really is hard on the emotions and the nerves.
