  1. I've noticed this too. I had several family members/friends who never watched the show or really knew anything about them other than they were Christian and had a large family. Whenever the Duggar scandals started to break, they hadn't bothered to read or research anything, so their knee-jerk reaction was "That poor family." I had to basically beat them over the head with examples, police reports, and research before they finally conceded that the family was way creepier than they had assumed.
  2. I'm really hanging on simply for George and Agatha as roommates.
  3. Ugh I was hoping she didn't take it back up and would find other hobbies that don't endanger her potential patients. :(
  4. I had no idea that such a show existed, but that certainly doesn't inspire confidence. . . .
  5. She looks so deranged in that picture. Like a Fundy Joker.
  6. I'm still cracking up about it a couple of hours later. :D
  7. I just read that blog post and it was hilarious. My favorite detail was the "we hooked our RV up in [the Duggars'] driveway." I'm just envisioning this and this from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation happening this weekend at the Duggars' house, and I can't stop laughing thinking about it.
  8. This was my experience too with my relatives. They were so determined to hate Hillary and support Trump that there was no reasoning with them on anything. May the odds be yugely in your favor. *gag*
  9. I also wonder if she knows that 1/3 of her fellow Arkansas voters have already cast their ballots because we have early voting 2 weeks before every election. In fact, pretty much everyone I know here has already voted. My social media accounts are full of people from out-of-state talking about voting today, not Arkansans.
  10. Ah so it might just be his inherent cheapness. That makes sense. I'd never noticed his shoes before.
  11. I was wondering if the lack of nice shoes on Jim Bob, at least, was a passive aggressive F*** you to Jeremy, given the pretty obvious tension between them. Wouldn't surprise me if Josh felt the same way about Jeremy.
  12. Yeah I agree. But oh what a soap opera it would be! ;)
  13. I don't watch the show--I just read stuff here to snark--but I would probably tune in for the shitshow that would be a Duggar-Rodriguez courtship. And I am deeply ashamed of myself for that. LOL
  14. I think it would be lovely if they had served more genuine meatballs, whether using a Vuolo family recipe or just scoping out what Tontitown has to offer, but I bet money they were of the frozen variety. :( Damn, this conversation is inspiring me to make meatballs this week.
  15. I'm thinking they threw in the meatballs to make the reception "Italian." ;)
  16. It's not an Arkansas thing. It's a Duggar thing. I've lived in Arkansas since I was a kid and bought my fair share of wedding gifts as an impoverished college student and nobody seemed to care if I went in with someone else. I think all those registry requests--- ranging from duct tape to cereal to kayaks-- are just symptomatic of how tacky and classless they are in general.
  17. It took forever to load, but this People article now includes Jessa's Instagram post. http://people.com/celebrity/jinger-duggar-marries-soccer-player-jeremy-vuolo/
  18. I think it's just the same picture that was in the People article, complete with the written permission disclaimer. Jessa is also pimping out their new website. Here's her description:
  19. I hope it's someone running it for them, though reiterating my ranting from earlier, I find it offputting that in the midst of all of the other planning that comes with a wedding, a honeymoon, and what I assume will be a move (of Jinger moving to Texas or him moving to Arkansas) that the debut of a new website and prompt posting on it was this much of a priority. I'm definitely not cut out for life as a "small screen sensation." ;)
  20. Oh I'm sure they did too, but I really don't understand why the website had to be up and running as soon as they got married. I think that's my sticking point. (That and how hilariously false it is to talk about how joyful your wedding day was before it even happened.) It just seems like an odd set of priorities. Well, not odd so much as just $$$$$, which grosses me out.
  21. I'm cracking up at the speed his new website went up, especially given the content in the "Our Story" section. I get prewritten content. I do that all the time for the social media stuff I do for work, but he either typed up his thoughts on how joyful the wedding was before it even happened or his first thought after the wedding was "Gotta update the website!" What a mercenary asshole. Would it have killed them to roll out the website after they got back from their honeymoon? Even my most social media obsessed friends tended to wait until at least the day after their wedding, if not later, to start uploading pictures, let alone debuting their new personal website.
  22. Thorncrown? I hasn't realized Jessa got engaged there ( I sometimes have to step away from the Duggars for a few months for the sake of my sanity), but yeah that is a much more popular option than JBU. The old hotels in Eureka are also popular. they also offer fairly decent prices during the off season. In a very Duggar like move, a childhood acquaintance got married at one several years ago in October. Despite all of the facilities being discounted, she opted for the even cheaper option of getting married outside the hotel, so we all got to freeze and not even look at the hotel interiors and then we got to drive forever to get to her reception spot because apparently shelling out money for the hotel to cater was not an option. Fun times! :/ If the Duggars ever did a Eureka wedding, I think they'd totally pull the same shit.
  23. Yeah I think you're probably right about TLC being the mover behind this. Even if the place had open slots, if it's anything like my college, it isn't cheap. I really don't see the Duggars shelling out money.
