  1. All episode titles and synopses for the season were revealed here on Monday (mild spoilers, despite this being called a spoiler-free review): https://www.disneyplusinformer.com/review-disney-original-series-the-santa-clauses-season-2/
  2. She did tell Oscar in Season 1 that he should bring eligible men to the house for Marian to meet, and he brought Larry, whom she disapproved of. Perhaps she abandoned that avenue after that? But that doesn't explain not arranging parties. Seconded! That, and Larry was criminally underused last season. I'm afraid Fellowes is probably unlikely to show Dorothy and Arthur when Peggy's not there. They are only guest starring, after all. Borden and Bannister.
  3. She was being honest about how she felt, which is how any parent who had their child stolen from them in the first place would feel, for good or ill. "Extremely selfish" sounds extremely judgemental for a realistic human emotion. I don't even have children and I know that's how I would feel under those circumstances (if he were still that age, at least) and I'm inclined to think anyone who claimed otherwise would be lying to themself. Edith at least had agreed to give her child up, even though it was against her better judgement, so she wasn't in the same circumstances as Peggy. As for trauma, he was only three when he died, and they were talking about what would have happened if he had been taken back even earlier than that. He'd soon have forgotten them. Indeed; it's obvious there'll be something between Larry and the young widow he's going to do an architecture job for. I was afraid there would be something between Peggy and the also conveniently widowed Mr Spring, which would be inadvisable with the wounds so raw, but it seems not. If he were being honest, that's how he would have presented it to her, but instead he claimed that he loved her and that that was why he wouldn't mind being pecked by Gladys specifically. That would not encourage her to have affairs. He may not actually care if she did, but from what he said, he would be the one she would expect to be sharing affections with. In real life, Oscar's offer would be one I might advise her to take lest she regret it later, but since this is a drama, there might well be a better suitor waiting for her who's rich, loving and not controlling. Though he's likely to be coming only at the end, after she's introduced to a less nice aristocrat. Oscar is supposed to be young enough that George called him a "young jackanape", despite his actor being three years older than George's. So far, Peggy's storyline and to a lesser extent George's are the only ones about issues with importance beyond social climbing.
  4. What Doctor Atomic said. And Ishy himself cultivated that confusion to keep the Trollocs motivated over the centuries that the Dark One was sealed. I read the books and I enjoy the show for what it is. I find that usually with any TV adaptation (ex. this show, The Shannara Chronicles, House of the Dragon, His Dark Materials, Outlander) there will actually be at least a few things it did that I like better about it than the original even if I would choose the original at the end of the day if I had to.
  5. The show was renewed for Season 3 before this season aired (and for Season 2 before the first one aired). They plan to have eight seasons. They may not reach that far, but there was definitely going to be a third. I'm glad you're not offended. A lot of these things *are* mentioned in the show but are easier for book readers to put in context because the books spent more time going from one point to the next. I hope you don't give the show up! The Wheel of Time is a worthwhile story, and if you have trouble following the show, the forum here (even including the bookwalker thread) will be happy to help. Well, the only *organization* that can channel. That we've seen so far. As opposed to Seanchan damane, rogue male channelers, and various women who can channel but don't realize they can or haven't or don't want to train with the Aes Sedai (or are burned at the stake by Whitecloaks before they can get to that point), frequently including village Wisdoms.
  6. I don't want to seem rude, but how could it have been if the show isn't over yet? And you'd expect the Dark One to present at the Final Battle, armies of Trollocs and Fades, etc. This battle was primarily against the Seanchan, who while an evil empire mostly aren't Darkfriends and those that are Darkfriends need to keep it secret like they do in the Westlands.
  7. Gateways seem to be one of those lost arts from the Age of Wonders that are beyond the knowledge of most modern Aes Sedai. We also don't know how strong in the Power you need to be to make them and how many Aes Sedai would be capable even if it weren't a lost art.
  8. As a last resort in defense of self or Warder, not just anyone. But both of which would die if there's an apocalypse, as you said. It wouldn't matter if they didn't use the One Power to make the jugs. The oath exists because the Power can forge specially effective weapons. Indeed, it's been pointed out (by fans, not characters or authors) that "speak no word that is not true" wouldn't allow them to talk at all if taken literally, since it's not words that have truth values, it's statements.
  9. Sometimes captioners are wrong. More often than I'd like, I have to rewind shows to confirm that I heard correctly and the caption was wrong, sometimes absurdly so. Since I work as an editor/proofreader for a living, I sometimes wish they would hire me.
  10. Hopefully they'll calm down when Hopper inevitably returns as Perrin's spirit mentor like in the books.
  11. The second part I liked, because if anyone would pull that off...
  12. Until shortly before he died. We learned it the same way in the books. Min, Elayne and Nynaeve put a'dam on Renna and Seta when they rescued Egwene in the second book, The Great Hunt.
  13. I think Lanfear's earlier reference to Moghedien, Graendal and "the boys" means that it won't be Semirhage. And if Moghedien is more psycho in the show than the books, Semirhage could have been folded into her.
  14. Yes, that was the point I was making. Lanfear's power level could be different in the show than the books, but either way Siuan like Moiraine would consider her one of the worst Forsaken to watch out for, not an example of 'if Lanfear is this dangerous then the others must be capable of even worse' because what they're capable of doing is also related to how bad and how savvy they are (and, again, she'd be more familiar with the tales of their deeds and Lanfear's reputation than with how each of them ranked in the One Power compared to the others, since the tales wouldn't be that specific. Also, she can't even sense the men channeling if they did meet and wouldn't learn they were stronger than Lanfear that way. That wouldn't be what had her worried).
  15. She discovered the Dark One, who is the source of the so-called "True Power". The True Source is the source of the One Power. Lanfear was the most powerful female channeler ever born. But most of the male Forsaken were stronger in terms of raw power. She was still considered one of the most dangerous and top-ranked Forsaken. ("Word of God has said that the top ranks of the Forsaken were always filled by Ishamael, Lanfear, Demandred, and to a lesser extent Graendal, Sammael, and Semirhage.") And Siuan would likely be more familiar with Lanfear's reputation from the legends than her exact power level. Moiraine in the show called her "the most dangerous of the Forsaken" when she told Rand who 'Selene' really was in "Daughter of the Night".
  16. Not to me. And they didn't seem clean. Also, if this is a world where the sewers are bigger and wider than in real life so that people can move through them conveniently, it makes sense they're better lit. Clearly, they were designed in-universe with people in mind.
  17. That's funny, that was also the plan for Infinity Train, another show with an infinity motif, in that case, at least, intentionally because the infinity symbol resembles an eight.
  18. Also, the Barthanes Damodred in the books is King Laman Treekiller's cousin rather than Moiraine's nephew, and his hair has started to grey.
  19. My sentiments exactly, and I was thinking about this again recently because the show is on. I think that unfortunately there's a current in American literature of being too forgiving towards slave cultures, given the country's own history. People don't want to come right out and say that the Confederates or the Seanchan deserved to be painfully incinerated en masse. Which is why Daenerys Targaryen was a refreshing change.
  20. What happened? Also, Elayne is still the Daughter-Heir of Andor, so while the name of the Queen of Andor hasn't been mentioned explicitly, it's vanishingly unlikely that it won't be Morgase.
