  1. Oh well, it's from the same etymology. They should continue to expand Miss Scott's role. I would watch a show where she became the main detective, but that's not likely to happen I'm afraid. And it seems clear that Larry likes her, so hopefully he'll get his head out of his ass.
  2. I actually like that they give so little away, so there can be subplots I didn't know about.
  3. Now imagine if instead of Blake's 7 they had been watching a show with time travel, like Doctor Who. Diana Galbadon named Outlander's Jamie after Doctor Who's Jamie, after all.
  4. Jamie explained this to Claire two episodes ago in "Singapore". This is Simon Fraser, a second cousin with the same name as Jamie's grandfather. That's why Jamie was concerned the redcoats would come up the hill, because a highlander was leading them. And like Jamie's grandfather, this Simon Fraser is a real person who really did lead the charge to take Ticonderoga.
  5. Those were MacDonalds. Sworn enemies of the MacKenzies. And Geillis told Claire about it in Season 3. But it's unclear how Claire found out in Season 2 that Buck was Dougal and Geillis's son when it was a closed adoption, so to speak.
  6. Can you please tell us in spoiler text who this person is?
  7. That part seemed laughably hypocritical, though, because he was on the road because he was upset about an argument he'd had with Bonnie about her going to care for her mother, and now pulling her away from her ailing mother is "the last thing I wanted". Even if he had a change of heart and wasn't just using that as an excuse to be upset, they couldn't have known because he never said. I did, too. As soon as he started talking about his plans for the future, I said to my parents, "He won't be around much longer." So they didn't do the predictable thing there.
  8. They were watching Blake's 7. Jemmy told Buck the main character was named Blake (and I recognize the show). But Mandy mentioned Buck and Roger's names while doing his beard, in an allusion to Buck Rogers. Jemmy's description of (Roj) Blake as "an astronaut 500 years in the future" would have been more accurate for Buck Rogers, since Blake is a starship captain, not an astronaut, and at least 700 years in the future. And of course, Buck and Roger would be chrononauts, not astronauts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blake's_7 Hmm, maybe the show will combine Rob with him? It seems Jemmy did go through the stones if Mandy sensed it.
  9. Bree's question, but yes, Buck's non-answer was suspicious unless that's a red herring. As Roger said to Buck in the car, I'm pretty sure Rob always gave the story credence and just pretended to think it was science fiction. If his ex-wife's family has money and he doesn't, it would be odd for him to pay alimony. If Rob *could* travel, he might know it from having heard buzzing around the stones and/or the portal in the dam tunnel. Related or not, Rob was very interested in Roger's Gaelic class and the Gaelic hymnals, and Geillis was in a Scottish Nationalist group, so them knowing each other isn't out of the question. Nice to be reminded that Jamie was a printer. Although the show did have a child pushed off a ship by Stephen Bonnet. That, too. It has been mentioned before that there are old stories about time travelers. Buck is Dougal and Geillis's son, the one she was spared being executed for witchcraft because she was pregnant with. He was given to MacKenzie cousins to raise after he was born. Those are the William John MacKenzie and Sarah Innes above his name on the family tree. He hasn't indicated knowing his birth parentage. Though there must be some record somewhere, given that Claire found out in her researches in Season 2 and told Roger about it.
  10. Lord John and the Hand of Devils (collects "Lord John and the Hellfire Club", "Lord John and the Succubus" and "Lord John and the Haunted Soldier") Lord John and the Private Matter (novel) Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade (novel) The Scottish Prisoner (novel) Seven Stones to Stand or Fall (collects the Lord John stories "A Plague of Zombies", "The Custom of the Army" and "Besieged" as well as the Outlander stories "The Space Between", "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows", "Virgins" and "A Fugitive Green")
  11. The characters invented them in this timeline?
  12. Imagine if a defendant turned the prosecutor into a frog during cross-examination.
  13. Especially relevant subject matter with what's going on in Florida. Obviously, they'll be rushing to keep Tristan alive next episode, 'cause that's more dramatic than him being suddenly dead. The insincerity of the FFTIH's platform is blatant, given that they both want Bess to admit to spreading "false beliefs" about the supernatural and want her supernatural artifacts locked up under maximum security.
  14. BJR cared about his younger brother Alexander (and essentially no one else). And he was self aware of how vile he was.
  15. To be precise, it was her mom who chose Kaheroton for her (as mentioned by her grandma) but it was her grandma, Tsotehweh, who broke the news to Ian and asked him to leave. Walter's not a slave, if that's what you mean.
  16. I fee like there's been a noticeable change of pace now that they know exactly how long they have, in a good way.
  17. William Buccleigh "Buck" MacKenzie. The illegitimate son of Dougal MacKenzie and Geillis Duncan, whom she was pregnant with at the witch trail. He was given to MacKenzie cousins to raise. He's Roger's distant ancestor, which is why Roger can travel through the stones. Roger saved his wife Morag and their son Jeremiah (a family name, same as Roger's father and Jemmy) on Stephen Bonnet's ship. Rather than be grateful, Buck got jealous after seeing Roger and Morag hug and had him hanged, leading to Roger losing his singing voice and falling into depression. They should have shown Roger's hanging in the Previouslies. And possibly edited in the new actor's face. Other shows have done that in Previouslies (such as when Anna Sheridan was recast in Babylon 5).
  18. Yes. They didn't call attention to it at the time (though one can spot it if one's looking), but in Season 3 she explains to Bree that her diamond watch was burned up in her first time travel.
  19. Welcome onboard! Hope you enjoy the rest of the show.
  20. That's why they haven't. Same reason Bree didn't want to check for Jamie's gravestone at first. She's been deliberately avoiding seeing material evidence of those people as dead because they were alive for her relatively recently and it's painful for her. And then ten in the final season. So we have eight episodes of Outlander to look forward to in 2024 and then ten in presumably 2025.
  21. The characters on the show have repeatedly said you need a gemstone to travel to pass through the stones. Whether you're trying to navigate somewhere or not (Claire in her first journey to the past was not). That's why there was such a big fuss about them a few episodes ago. And the very fact that Bree stepped through a portal without a gemstone on her and didn't go anywhere confirms it. Any letter that had to be read urgently would likely be at the top, regardless of chronological order. It was in a cave. I think it's likely there was a cave there before the dam.
