Complete Series DVDs: Which Do You Have?
Miss Dee replied to bmasters9's topic in Everything Else TV
Just WKRP in Cincinatti and Frasier. My husband has Magnum P.I. and The X-Files - at least, before the continuation. -
The part that's still sticking with me days later is the fear and panic in Jefferson's voice as he begs his oldest daughter to keep her hands on the dashboard where the cops can see them. Already 110% on board with this show.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Miss Dee replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
Every time I think I finally understand the depths and breadth and heights of the degrees of which the Legend writers give no fucks: they go beyond. -
Yep - women's fashion is just one more area designed to make us feel never good enough and that we're not worth the cost of effort. I like episodes where I feel everyone's POV is understandable. I really liked this episode.

Note to fellow Canucks: Watch for Black Lightning on Netflix! It has a similar deal to Riverdale, where the episodes will drop soon after airing in the States. I friggin' loved the pilot - if this keeps up, it's going to be my favourite superhero show after Legends. I would love Oliver and Jefferson to meet. I think Jefferson would be the only current Arrowverse superhero Oliver could look up to as a mentor, rather than as a junior or an equal. Jefferson's older and more experienced at this; he's human (unlike MM); he's in the same "field of work" (unlike Quentin, Joe, Martin - sob; R.I.P); and if I'm interpreting correctly he's been through the wringer in terms of ambivalence about his vigilante status and the toll it's taken on his personal life, and yet he clawed his way back to a normal life. Oliver would turn into a wide-eyed padawan around him eager to soak up everything he can, and I'd fucking love to see it. I love Barry, I love Iris, I love the show - but I could not take that trial seriously. You could hear the creaks as they tried to maneuvre the plot points into position to put Barry behind bars as fast as possible.

Yeah, HIMYM basically killed itself in the last episode. That said, I think the show could have gotten away with Ted/Robin at the end if 1) the scene with his daughter had come across as less jokey and more bittersweet and poignant, and 2) if the writing had made it clearer that this was a new chapter in Ted's life. They stepped wrong by assuming Ted/Robin was the series endgame. They should have had the foresight to see the fans needed the endgame to be the same as the premise: the story of how Ted met (and lost) the mother. Then they could have ended with a coda tbat suggested Ted could have a new chapter that involved Robin. I wouldn't have minded that. But the way they wrote and shot the scenes, it was clear that Ted/Robin was the series' endgame rather than Ted/Mother, and the bait and switch was too much for fans to swallow.

I'm just here to thank whoever's responsible for keeping KN's hair messy and rumply. Good decision. I do think the show is heading for an endgame where committing to Amy develops Sheldon as a person enough that he gets his career breakthrough. Just to echo what that psychic said about her being the key to his success.

LSSC: Season Three Episode Talk
Miss Dee replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I always know a show will be good when they tease an interview with Melania Trump. Only the GOOP takedowns are better. -
It hit me today this episode gives new meaning to the phrase "Jack Pearson's Son." Oh, Kevin.

I thought my heart would break when young Kevin saw his family all together in the bed and he slept on the floor next to them. That's it, I thought, that's the moment that'll break me. And then Rebecca got out of bed to lie down next to him, and I was finished. Utterly finished.

If you think you love Mick now.... ;) You haven't even heard his greatest hits yet. If Mick's trajectory was Bruce Springsteen's career, you've only gotten to the "Born to Run" album. And I'd be interested in your views on Sara as you get further into the season. I think what you saw in the first episode is going to become corrected as her arc continues. But I don't want to spoil anything as to how. If it helps, Ray has become my second favourite character on this show (after Mick). His inability to "Heil Hitler" won my heart forever. But by the end of the season, I honestly can't say I hate anyone on the Waverider or want anyone to leave. I hope you continue airing your opinions as you go through! I love watching my favourite shows through a newbie's eyes.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Miss Dee replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
313 I heard about on Spoiler TV. People are wondering if that's the Annual Jonah Hex episode, as Jonathan S. has revealed he'll be showing up later in the season. -
As a non-comics reader - I didn't even know there was a comic - I have no expectations about this and therefore I'm not finding the pace slow at all. In fact, until now I didn't even know the term "runaways" was literal rather than metaphorical. I'm enjoying watching the kids navigate school and parents and kidnappings and magic Hogwart lessons and the gradual discovery of their powers. In fact, I might be disappointed if they leave all that behind to go on the lam. I also like that I'm not entirely certain Chase and Nico won't get turned to the Dark Side and eventually side with the parents. I think Alex and Carolina are all in. Gert and Molly could go either way. My favourites among the parents are Gert's. I like that they've softened Nico's mom, but Alex's mom and Annie Wersching still scare me. James Marsters is a little scary, and I think either Nico's dad, Carolina's dad or Chase's mom are good candidates for the secret or eventual Big Bad. Whereas I could see Alex's dad eventually turning and running away with the kids. As all the kids have superpowers, I'm wondering if the other adults are hiding metaphysical secrets.

Too lazy to get the URL, but according to Nick Zano's Twitter feed the 14th episode of Legends of Tomorrow is called, "Amazing Grace."
