From what I remember about this flood, yes there were cleaners and carpenters and carpet workers as there are in any town. But they were innundated with the crisis, either in their own flooded homes or in their jobs in public works and tradesmen. I'm sure appointments with carpet estimators were impossible to get at this time. Sometimes you got to do some things for yourself and start pulling up wet moldy carpet.
