    Grand Hotel

I think it's because he's in debt with the mafia or whatever shady group Matteo is part of, and they're threatening his family so he can't tell. I liked, btw, how the writers revealed so early who was the bad guy. I just hope they won't go for GoodIsStupid-itis in order to make his schemes work out. I'm all in for the fake marriage becoming true trope. They remind me somehow of my beloved JR Jr/Pamela from the Dallas reboot. They and Jason were also marked "love triangle somewhere along the way": Woobie Playboy vs Good Guy, + the Accidental (?) Schemer. The pool pushing and Alicia having told the groom were my favorite moments. I think Roselyn Sanchez can, too. Gigi did sound scheming and heartless with the necklace thing but she and her husband seem to confide in one another. Hence, after Matteo's threats, it came to my mind that she wanted the wedding to happen at any cost because she was afraid for the children's lives. I watched the pilot on a whim, I haven't seen the original version -I didn't even know there was one.

Ratings are in: The episode did 0.7. Not a bad start at all for a summer show and at 10PM.

    Grand Hotel

I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the pace, establishing the main relationships in the first half and then going for the soapy twists in the second. They weren't earth-shattering but for a pilot, it was a good thing. With all the info to take in, their familiar side helped getting into the show's atmosphere. Info dump dialogues were unavoidable, nevertheless I've seen much worse this season and on shows with fewer characters and plotlines. The characters all have a potential to be interesting. They had a personality, or little moments that fleshed them out, under the obvious tropes -like Alicia looking up, trying to hide she ogled at Danny. I feel there could be layers, if the writers decide to actually develop them. I liked the female characters, in particular. Alicia is nice but not blindly stupid *please stay this way, please stay this way* Ingrid is an interesting wild card and Yoli is feisty in a good way. Although Roselyn Sanchez/the actresses who play her daughters isn't far from another John McCook/Ron Moss situation, she's great in the role of the evil (or is she?) stepmother. I thought at first that Danny was a cop undercover because of the shady dealings. He might be law enforcement anyway. Or maybe he's a real soldier, LOL. He and Alicia were cute, as well as Jason's crush on Ingrid. I could even ship Yoli and the Vanilla Ice-meets-Robin-Thicke guy, LOL.
  4. The trailer made me want to check out S3, this article turned me off. https://tvline.com/2019/06/03/designated-survivor-season-3-preview-neal-baer-kirkman-election-campaign/ The biggest problem with this show was, imo, how it tried to be too many things at once and had too many characters revolving too fast, which resulted in a narrative mess and no one being properly written for. Well, considering the cocktail-like description the showrunner makes of the concept in S3 and the insane number of new characters (at least one will have their own "romantic entanglements") for merely ten episodes, I don't think this problem will be solved in any way.
  5. I saw a spoiler thread but only for the graphic novels, not for show spoilers & casting scoops that happen to reveal plot points or definite answers beforehand... Like, who's the actor playing the Sinnerman Nevertheless, I wonder if they're going to go for a Mandarin, Ironman 3 version and the Sinnerman will be revealed to be someone else.

    S08.E05: The Bells

Although I stopped watching after 8x03 (the perks of being a spoiler whore) you can't escape GoT on the net. And I realized the genius of D&D. All those much decried eunuch jokes, which they bravely stuck to including in S8. It was foreshadowing of the endgame, from the start: Varys betrayed Daenerys out of penis envy! #ADickForTheThrone #OnlyDicksWanted #NoMa'am2019Campaign

    Lethal Weapon

Lethal Weapon had a reprieve of a season, and I'm very happy it did since it was a very entertaining one (unlike the crappy S2). Too bad it wasn't on CBS, they renewed shows with worse numbers LOL. I've always suspected the last two episodes were there to wrap up the show and the cast & crew knew it. Maggie Lawson will star in the comedy Outmatched that FOX picked up for next season, I hope to see other S3 cast members elsewhere, especially Sean William Scott.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I will certainly see on the net and social media how this is going to turn out. However, I signed up for "bittersweet", not for "let's destroy everything and make everyone miserable for the sake of it, without rhyme or reason". 8x03 was a rather nice series finale, all things considered. And so my watch has ended.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

It seems I'm only good with guessing ships and sex, LOL. I did say that Jaime and Brienne would bang in 8x04. I still hate that he's going to crawl up Cersei's butt again. I've been 100% Team Arya when she wiped out her enemies for killing her family. I don't see how I could not be Team Daenerys if she does the same.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Rhaegal killed by Euron is now proven, and it's specific enough. For now, I'm pissed off about Jaime betraying (so only those who die are truly redempted? sigh) and Missandei's death. During the off-season, I made my peace witht the fact I might not like the ending. I loved 8x02 and 8x03, but well. I just hope they won't also destroy Arya, too, since she's the one I care most about.
  11. The trailer is out, and... it actually doesn't look bad. Was that some kind of, like, energy that President Carebear exuded? Was it the Jack Bauer Sweater of Badassery he was wearing? To watch of not to watch? "You need to be ruthless" = an immediate "pro". Seth's preachy speech = an immediate "con". STFU, Seth. https://tvline.com/2019/05/03/designated-survivor-season-3-trailer-kirkman-reelection-campaign/

Anything after the smiley wasn't an answer to you. Frikidoctor only ever speculated they'd live, so it doesn't change anything as far as concrete info goes.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Yes they did. But you said before that you refused to believe what they do even when it's written in black and white on a script, so I'm afraid a constructive discussion would be impossible. 🙂 The "extra" who gave info on the WF battle, which seemed believable enough, was BS (said that Tyrion and Sam manned a door together, for example). It seems that people who filmed for Ex06 had to wear special badges to enter the set. I doubt very much they have filmed a big spoilery scene in front of extras. Imo, the most important scenes were done in studios or in extra-securized sets if they had to film them outside. I wonder why there's only Drogon above Dany's fleet in the trailer. Rhaegal is seen flying above WF but there might be a hole in his wing. Maybe he can't fly for long. It could be the writers' way of grounding a dragon and put Cersei in a better position. There was word that Cersei was deposed by episode 4. Not sure it's going to happen. I thought she might send the GC to WF and surprise attack the survivors, I'm not sure it's going to happen either. Part of her forces should attack the Riverlands again (the Freys were on Cersei's side). But imo if they have to last 3 more episodes -although I'd take three other 8x02 and be the happiest camper- imo she will stay in KL with most of her troops because that's a way of avoiding an annihilation of Cersei's army by dragon(s). I'm not sure that Daenerys knows of Cersei's pregnancy, or if it's common knowledge. I thought it was, but something in the way P.Dinklage played it when Tyrion and Jaime discussed it made me wonder. I don't think it was ever mentioned in front of her. Tyrion said to Sansa that Cersei "had a reason to live" but without specifying it. I thought that long summers and long winters were owed to the climate and not specifically to the NK.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Yes, and to me it belongs to the realm of educated guesses: Arya is a stealth assassin, heroïc charge is a trope (NK possibly after Bran, Theon needing to redeem re:Bran) and about every character has been fleak-turned into a wight. Nothing specific enough to convince me.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

The so-called leaks are fanfic and wishful thinking, but it doesn't mean the theories they support come out of nowhere. Fleaks have a common point, they always "make sense" and cater to a part of the fandom; real leaks like Awaysforthelads' don't, they're different in a very subtle way. Had one of those given extremely bold or original particular details like "Lyanna Mormont kills a giant" then it would be some kind of proof now; but everything I've seen is in the range of your typical educated guesses. It's like the lottery, some are luckier than others. I only gave some credit to the people who had hard evidence of intel or a track record (WoMB, BSB; Frikidoctor) and relied only on filming info, and yet as soon as one steps away from those pure facts, everything goes off base. It's because those facts are too disconnected and we have no context at all. For example I (and others) thought that Cogman was playing coy with the "final battle" in 8x03: I knew there would be other battles on the show because there's another one in 8x05, and a naval battle, too, was filmed outside. Turns out, it was indeed the final AOTD battle (unless Qyburn played apprenti sorcerer and re-created some wights from some Dumb Cunt 2 parts he somehow retrived, LOL). So I'm not going to take the word of a nobody with no track record and no proof, not after the 999 trolls of the off-season. The theories themselves are another business. One would have to be soft in the head to have missed the Mad Kweeeen Dany "foreshadowing" after watching S7. It was as subtle as, let's say, the Jon vs NK showdown "foreshadowing"...see what I mean? I don't believe in this particular one for reasons I stated upthread (show vs tell re: Daenerys' behavior) more than I believed the SaNsADiEs fleaks during the off season. It doesn't mean those theories aren't out there, like any other speculation.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Weird? Like he and Sansa being on it together? Or he taking the fall for Sansa? Sophie T's word is always to take with a giganormous grain of salt, but IIRC she isn't the only one who mentioned Sansa's motivation being her "deep desire to rule" this season. It struck me as weird how the writers stressed her antagonism and her irrational hostility towards Dany in 8x03; while Dany was risking her life outside so Sansa could only look petty. On top of it, they allowed another character to verbally smack her down about it. Not the usual butt-kissing writing. Sansa learned from Cersei and Littlefinger, she didn't get one decent role model as a young adult. Nurture counts as much as nature; while some people expect the eeevulz Targ genes to change Dany into an antagonist, bad influences in life could do the same. It could be that she goes behind everyone's back, it backfires horribly. Either Tyrion helped her and takes the rep for both of them; either he just takes the rep. If she gets away with it, it could be the "not everything is made right" that Gwendolyn Christie talked about. I mean, after Arya killing the Night King and saving the world, which no one saw coming, who knows? Cersei Junior could "come out of left field", too. How do you like them apples?🤣 I've been sharing my speculations in this thread for two years, thank you 😊

Interesting interview from Joe Dempsie (which made me more hopeful he'd make it last episode, because none of this has happened yet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUaVzzMoFtg At 4:20 "He seems like the straight man in a world of kinda crazy people. Gendry is an everyman and he's getting increasingly wheeled in the political games of privileged people, and seeing him navigate that is always fun." Give me Team Fleabottom, show!

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I thought I wouldn't have to deal with troll fleakers after the beginning of the season. Sigh. Every so-called "leak" this season was bullshit. Every single one of them, including coming from people who had otherwise intel, gave it and could prove it (WoMB saying that he saw Jaime die in Brienne's arms during the BoW is debunked). There was yet another fleaker again last week, supposedly backed-up by some admin retaliation on FF, about wight Gendry running after Arya. Many of them had some details rights in a sea of pure cow crap. Seriously, enough with this shit. There are no leaks, there were no leaks from anonymous sources this season, only wishful thinking and fanfiction; because HBO struck down the hammer and the NDAs from Hell. Unless Frikidoctor -who seems quite very silent lately, did he get a follow-up on his Tyrion betrayal?- or the subtitle sheets leaker strike again, or unless another blunder from the broadcasters happens, there will be no leaks.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

At the end of S3, he sat D&D down (for the weekend at his home, IIRC) and told them everything he planned. He told them the endgame for all the main characters, and the secondary characters he knew. Even if she lost the Dothraki and a good part of the Unsullied, Daenerys still has two dragons. After seeing what they did to the AOTD in 8x03, the GC doesn't stand a chance against them. So imo Cersei is plotting something against the dragons. She might succeed, she might not. There was a ballista on the KL set and a dragon above KL in Bran's vision, so at least one should make it until there. Euron getting dragonbinder or an equivalent of it wouldn't be farfetched to me. If someone turns to an antagonist, it should be Bronn. . He likes the Lannister brothers, but not sure it's enough. Remember at the Blackwater, he and the Hound were at odds and Bronn was about to shank him. Maybe the Hound will see through Bronn's BS. I think she was pregnant, truly, but she was drinking wine again in 8x01. I thought that D&D would change the moment when she miscarries; maybe they didn't, and it will be revealed in a flashback later that she did around 7x07. This is the kind of surprise effect they like to create. It would be excellent. After the performances the cast regularly offers, they had better get all the awards. Especially Alfie Allen. There were so few dialogues in 8x03 (I thought parts were missing) and they all conveyed most of what happned just by their facial expressions. Is it here that someone noticed that Frikidoctor got its episode info through someone in the translating team? If he got those subtitles sheets, it explains how he sometimes swapped dialogues between the characters (like Jon/Dany for the thousand years).

    S08.E03: The Long Night

From the Wiki of Ice and Fire: Valyrian steel is something else entirely. So no, it wasn't a cop-out. Gendry reminded the audience of what Catspaw was made in 8x01, I don't think it was a coincidence. I'm tired of TV shows killing off characters jut for shock value, in order to show off how "edgy" they are, or just because they're out of ideas. It isn't edgy, it isn't keeewl, it's the worst cliché (50 characters or so dying every May sweeps on broadcast). It's beyond annoying and juvenile by now. "Tragedy" isn't synonymous with "good" at all, and I'd take twenty "happy" endings like this one over meaningless slaughters. The named characters who died in all went like a boss, had their moments (except for poor Edd) and their deaths mattered. Moreover, two of those characters were veterans, there since S1, and had their own storylines. They weren't mere red shirts. If there had been "bigger" deaths, they would have become an afterthought. I feared a Red Wedding but with characters I cared about. I thought it'd ruin the show for me. I'm extremely happy and satisfied that it wasn't the case.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Cersei has some plan, especially for Dany, so I don't discard the possibility of an attack in 8x04 while the alliance is still mourning. The audience would think "another character-driven episode" and bam, action. I thought the 7K would unite against the AOTD, if it isn't the case Cersei might do something particularly heinous to unite them against her; there's another battle and even with the dragons the alliance needs more men. Cersei might send Euron's and her troops to pillage everything; for example steal the food in other kingdoms like the Riverlands or the Stormlands so that she can sustain a siege. The scene where Emilia said that Daenerys speaks in several languages isn't done yet; maybe it will be at the feast. Daenerys is at Dragonstone at one point, imo she should regroup there soon; closer to KL in order to attack it.

    S08.E03: The Long Night

Alfie Allen and Emilia Clarke just killed me. I sobbed like a baby in spite of watching after being spoiled, as always. Jorah honorable and knightly until the end, Theon's face when Bran called him a good man (damn, I have something in my eye again) Lyanna Mormont going down at an Olenna level of awesome... What had me cheer the most? Arya defending Davos like a fucking badass. He looked so impressed. Please give me a Team Stormlands with Arya/Gendry/Davos/Brienne, thank you. I had a feeling that the Lord of Light people would have a connection with Arya, but I sure didn't expect this one. Yes, it's anticlimatic that the threat over 7 years + was dealt with in one episode; and didn't invade all of Westeros or almost. OTOH, it's extremely ballsy and probably the most subversive option the show could have chosen, imo. There were so many hints in S7 of how Arya was going to kill the NK, in hindsight. Bran giving her the dagger, the left-right hand trick during her fight with Brienne, Beric's purpose speech. The "blue eyes" back in S3, too. I wonder if I'll find others. It isn't new that the NK brings the storm, so using it to impede the dragons even for Plot was OK with me. It didn't come out of nowhere either. I liked that every fighter did they part in the battle. Everyone was useful, in their own way and within their own capacities, everyone took one for the team, everyone had a moment to shine. It might not have been "in your face", but Jon and Daenerys annihilated a shitload of wights and the defense of WF wouldn't have stood without their intervention; same when fighting Viserion or the NK, they earned time that was crucial for everyone's survival. Arya's biggest strength is stealth, the way she killed the NK was right in her alley (reminiscent of Lyanna Mormont with the giant half an hour before, and weirdly I didn't see the same objections...). The Hound floundered but saved Arya with Beric -LOL at the Mary Sue thing, she is clearly not invincible. Greyworm stepping it and the Unsullied protecting Melisandre to light the trenches. Jorah, Jaime, Pod, Brienne, Tormund, Gendry got the brunt of the assault and sustained it vs the main body of the AOTD. It was teamwork, and they can all be proud of themselves...I know I am. Well, everyone but Sam. Boo. Talk about biting more than you can chew. Too bad that Edd had to bite it, period, because of that craven moron. The more I think of it, the more pissed off I get. I don't think there's anyone dead in the alliance whom I wouldn't exchange for Sam right now, including Melisandre. He better not be a whinging little shit after this battle. I'm glad that no one I liked and who was in the crypt was killed off, since I was very afraid for Missandei in particular, but the red-shirt trope was strong in that part of WF. Missandei was fierce and delivered a well-deserved smackdown, so much for her detaching from her queen. Tyrion, like in the previous episode, was touching. Going from the insane noisy action outside to the horror movie-like silent eeriness inside, with Arya, was fabulously done. Like in 7x06, though, at times one couldn't see who was doing what; not even because it was too dark, more because of the smoke. I guess it was on purpose, to convey the confusion? Also, Gendry made it yaaaas! Sex doesn't kill, trope averted! Well, it seems to be love anyway...
