I am not so sure a reconciliation is on the cards...this season is feeling more and more like a spinoff that just isn't being called a spinoff! Either it works and S9 gets the green light or it doesn't and Castle ends its run as an 8 season show?!?! When I saw his new office in the episode this week my heart sunk - that's not the show I want to watch but look how much money they are sinking into his bloody office! I long for the days of a WRITER and his MUSE solving crimes together. I don't wanna watch some try hard version of James Bond with gadgets, secret rooms and bloody Alexis doing her best Money Penny impression!! WTF???

Did Stana Katic really sign up for this?? Is this what she considers taking care of her character??

Like you'd expect any good show runner to do [/sarcasm] That would have been an awesome story to explore back in S5 early in their relationship - hindsight, it can be your best friend or your worst enemy!!

I think what is gonna be a true measure of this season and the show's future is how the ratings settle once the Castle/s P.I storyline kicks into full gear -- I get the impression that as fans we are gonna have to embrace that if we want more seasons. Right now I'd rather not have more seasons.....

I guess Castle's insistence that they are partners and they share the load is gonna be impossible for Beckett to abide by -- better to break his heart to keep him safe?? I'm not thrilled about it especially as this type of storyline makes the audience chose sides and for me that's never fun! I don't wanna chose sides -- I like both these characters as individuals and as a couple! It's gonna get ugly in the Castle fandom. Sigh.

It's definitely an unnamed source - I'll go with BS but it's getting harder and harder to ignore what's driving the show this season and it ain't organic storytelling.... It's gonna have to be Oscar worthy material to do that!! 2 out of every 8 days is a massive hole to cover! I hope at the very least it's an exaggeration of actual information. It does, however, start to explain some of the decisions made regarding the show this season. If it had been 4 out of 8 I would have been disappointed but 2 out of 8 -- I'm flabbergasted! They MUST know that would never work. Right? I guess it will always be in the realm of rumour but still -- if you hear hooves don't think zebras!

So is it true that Nathan only agreed to work 2 days per episode with Stana or is that some fanciful fanwanking from someone who hates Nathan and is blinded by their Stana love because if that is true this show really, truely is gonna suck this year!

Yeah - TVs obsession with people having to be under duress or miserable to be "interesting" is kind of a bore. Godforbid someone be happy, fulfilled and just generally kickass!

It's the million dollar question and that was always my sticking point with Christopher regardless of how good their chemistry was. How could she even consider a dude who actually used his own daughter the way Chris did?? Here we had a woman who could fire off pop culture references at the drop of a hat - suggesting some degree of intelligence - yet she was unbelievably stupid when it came to her personal life?? I guess Lorelai Gilmore was and always will be in a state of arrested development - what most fascinates me is did ASP actually want to portray that or was she just really crappy at writing healthy relationships on any level. If I had a chance to sit down with her I would love to ask her (after she pops a few truth pills!!) what her endgame for Lorelai was? Did she ever see LL as together forever and meant to be or did the Gilmore Girls fans of yesteryear just get it all completely wrong. Having rewatched the majority of the show on Netflix in recent months it has really struck me how unbelievably cynical the whole show is....how could I have not seen that as clearly 10-15 years ago??? Shout out to the Gilmore Guys!! ;)

It's always a little passive aggressive - no matter what the tweet - or the subject - or its intended target! It's his style on Twitter.

This show has always been better when they work under the mantra of "big things small, small things big" I have never been a fan of the painting yourself into a corner conspiracy and Castle saves the world by ripping wires out of a nuclear bomb storytelling - it feels like boys and their toys rather than nicely crafted, clever storytelling! I had hoped that changes this year could avoid those tropey pitfalls but who was I kidding! The basic premise of this episode seems like it's more of the same painting themselves into implausible corners....I really hope next week can change my mind because I will bloody watch this thing til the bitter end....dammit!

And people think it was bad when he just stands around like he's just Beckett's stuffed dummy -- now he could also end up being his daughters??!! Jesus. No wonder the ratings are currently residing in the toilet!

I was always the biggest LL shipper but I ended my time watching the show thinking both Luke and Chris should run for the hills! However many years have passed and a rewatch on Netflix has only solidified that opinion! Lorelai is a terrible partner....terrible. Both Luke and Chris Stood no chance as long as she remained as self centred and emotionally immature as she was.

There's only one word for the Shay Jean stuff.....tacky! Like KaveDweller said that song is hardly related to its intended subject/s -- it's just a cheap and tacky way to attempt to launch some kind of a music career?!? I find it all just a little embarrassing.

i think you're onto something here. I just keep thinking back to the wording of that blind item earlier this summer....something along the lines of 'TPTB don't really care if they upset the fanbase....' I guess they are counting on people to keep watching no matter what. Roll the dice in S8 and see what happens....they really don't have that much to lose at this point. A show that reaches a S8 has had a good run regardless of what happens from here on out!!

See that's where I'm a bit undecided. Yes, she lied but surely it is not the intention of the writers for people to hang, draw and quarter her just yet?? But quite a few are and that's what I'm wondering.....do writers ever know they are alienating portions of their audience and do it anyway -- or do they naively assume people will stick with Beckett no matter what?? I'm just a bit taken back that they would actively chose to have one of their main protagonists piss off a good number of the fanbase? Sure the drama will create the break up but haven't we been told the break up is all about their journey and how they truly do belong together?? If a number of fans are upset that Beckett is once again keeping secrets that's kind of defeating the purpose of creating the drama to keep the audience tuning in every week? I think I may be starting to confuse myself now..... ;) Blerg.

Aww phooey!! Wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't pointed out! Good opener!! Will never really like Alexis...esp this version but I can deal with that! I do wonder if they are deliberately trying to make fans dislike Beckett?! Or are some fans just overreacting?! For me Beckett not sharing is hardly out of character so to see so many questioning her loyalty/devotion to Castle before the second episode is a little premature??
