  1. I don't know where you are, but it's on for me (yay) at 3 pm. local. I'm in central Texas.
  2. That always bothered me about their duckling "line up" in public. Walking in front of all the children. I only have three kids, but when they were small and we were out, especially in an area I was unfamiliar with, I wanted them in front of me, where I could see them. I could walk beside my husband *and* protect my children. What a concept.
  3. She does that for her sisters too. I think that's just a long ingrained habit. He's too laid back to call her on it. She will be the official speaker in their family.
  4. "Duke" proving his identity to the lady cop...she said they hadn't played that game in "a long time", so it could have been something from their younger days. Misspent youth. When Audrey popped up (naked, I was surprised Nathan didn't give her his jacket) at first my only thought was, "Well, that solves the whole How can they ever be sure it's not just Mara pretending to be Audrey?" question. I think she *will* retain her immunity to the troubles. This is supposed to be a 'reincarnation' trouble. Mara's past life, so to speak, alive again. If the trouble works like I think they meant it to. Say I was Fred Flintstone in a past life. Duke's trouble hit me and when I woke up, Fred Flintstone would be standing beside me, in all his cartoon-y glory. So Audrey is back, exactly as she was before, immune to the troubles and eager to help Haven. As for why it's only Audrey and not 500 years worth of Haven Savers, I'm willing to just shrug it off as a limitation on the trouble (only the last past life) and 'Lexi' never came out of the barn. That was Audrey pretending all along. Maybe what happens in the barn stays in the barn.
  5. Jessa said she has 10 brothers and she's kissed every one of them. Snarky answer to a question I'm sure she was tired of being asked. I know a lot of people don't like Jessa, but I do. She's no nonsense, very literal, and sarcastic. I can relate to her. It's Jill who gets on my nerves. Too up, and too much in everybody else's business.
  6. The bitchy ex-wife is a big problem for me. Aside from the fact that I don't like the actress, this whole plot has holes you can drive a truck through. First, (tangentially but it bugs me) you can't transfer from NYPD to LAPD. Apples and oranges. You would have to apply for one and resign from the other. /peeve Now. If she "knows something" serious enough to potentially cost him his job, and clearly she does since she is using it to blackmail him into staying away from her and their son, it's kind of an empty threat because, as an officer of the court, she could be in as much trouble as him when it comes out (whatever "it" is) that she knew, and withheld it. If he hasn't done anything that could cost him custody, there's no need to creep around in the bushes. Take her to court and get visitation rights. If he has done something serious enough to cost him custody, how does he still have that job? I'm watching the show, but I haven't seen an actual stalker case yet (well, except the college roommate and that disappeared quickly). The writers need to turn off the horror movies and switch on Discovery ID. Watch a few episodes of Stalked: Someone's Watching.
  7. I read a book once where the murderer got away for so long because there was 'no trace evidence'. Turned out she (yes, she) researched thoroughly and always wore the same thing as her victim. No stray fibers.
  8. That's what I've always thought. They feel like they somehow dodged a bullet with their past and want to make sure their children are protected from the "dangers" of things dating and jeans (for girls) and television and birth control. Free will and the ability to choose your own path are casualties of the parent's decisions and the irony is completely lost on them. They chose this rigid, patriarchal (misogynistic) lifestyle and won't allow their own children to make their own choices. Clearly neither JB nor Michelle was raised this way, so they "defied" their own parents when they struck out on this path. I've often wondered how JB spins that to his kids. "Honor your father and mother", "Obey your parents", unless they aren't the "right" kind of Christians. Part of becoming an adult is forming your own opinions about the world (and/or religion), apart from your parents. My own mother is a "literalist." (Not as hard-core as a Duggar). She believes the Earth is only about six thousand years old. I disagree completely and we can have civil discussions. I've never once feared "shunning", been threatened with a loss of salvation of whatever else these kids suffer if they would dare to disagree.
  9. That is what a constable does, by definition. Serves civil process paperwork. They also serve subpoenas and divorce papers. In Texas, as a constable (an elected position), you are required to become a licensed peace officer after the election if you aren't one already. Not sure how it works in Arkansas. Frightening thought, though, isn't it? A Duggar, one small step away from real arrest power.
  10. I really, really don't want to see them fire up the triangle again. Duke knows that Nathan and Audrey are/will be (belong?) together. The only reason any of this is coming up again is because Mara wants to drive a wedge between Nathan and Duke and this is the easiest way to do it. Duke is onto her, though and he's doing his level best to keep Nathan from falling for it. (Nathan has always been prone to jealousy, especially where Duke/Audrey were concerned.)
  11. Good point. The secret is out...there was a kiss in Colorado. Maybe more needs to be divulged before Freaky Friday ends. Just saying, "yes we kissed" doesn't really say much, does it? That could span anything from, "It's good to see, friend" to "The earth just shifted and I can't feel my legs". Duke loved (and still terribly misses) Jennifer and Nathan knows Audrey loves him as much as he loves her, but I can see him needing every painful detail.
  12. Just watched the episode again. The "psych ward" has something to do with the secret Gloria is keeping from Dwight. That's my call. It looks like the swaps are triggered by the 'secret' being referenced in some way by one party. When Vince said the word Croatoan, he and Dave swapped. When Dwight talked about being surprised the psych ward didn't do bigger business in Haven (and Gloria had a guilty look on her face), they swapped. Then Maudrey and Duke talked about the kiss in Colorado and Nathan and Duke swapped. Now I wonder if a resolution of some sort is how you swap back. I hope so, because that means we'll get some kind of answer about Dave. It will probably only lead to more questions, but an answered question is a rarity in Haven. eta: Nope. Finished the episode again and got the answer to my resolution question. Duke and Nathan got their secret out in the open and didn't switch back. Clearly that isn't the solution.
  13. Did they not get the Colorado "secret" out last week? I thought Nathan and Duke already worked past the whole delicious taco. I loved the switch, and knew it had to happen at some point. Eric and Lucas are either great actors (duh) or pretty good friends off screen as well, because they did each amazing jobs with each others characters. "Duke" kept mentally tripping over that 'can't feel anything' trouble Nathan lives with, and doing it so overtly, in a very Duke fashion. I wanted to see "Nathan" in a subtle Nathan way, realizing that he can feel. There's always part 2 I guess. I'm really interested to know what kind of secret is between Dwight/Gloria. Does it have to do with his daughter? I really hope it isn't something that will cause a rift. I love their sort of mother/son vibe. Or at least favorite aunt/nephew. I felt bad for doing it, but I laughed every time poor Dave slammed Vince's head into something. Adjusting to being a foot taller will surely take a little bit of time. So...The Lost Colony was sucked into an open Thinnie? Looks like the Mi'kmaq weren't the only Native tribe to have trouble with that 'great evil' on the other side of the door. Something I read...and interview with a writer somewhere I think...made me think that the first 13 (!) episodes are all about trying to find a way to get Audrey back "if it can be done". <sigh>
  14. I haven't, but I'll look for it. You're right. "The Monkey's Raincoat" is a title just begging to be picked up. The new Rick Riordan book comes out tomorrow, so I have that first on the list, but I'll put Robert Crais right behind it.
  15. My son got me hooked on all of those too. I have all of them. It looks like she is going to start another 'spin off(ish) series' though, like the Infernal Devices were.
  16. Irregardless. twitch (and my spell check is even ok with it.) I give up
  17. I refuse to see that movie because the books always describe Reacher as 6'5 230+ w/ blond hair and blue eyes. Does that sound like Tom Cruise to anyone?! I realize that movie producers have their own "vision", but some of them need glasses. I've never read the Virgil Flowers books. Not sure why. Harlen Coben is another good one, with Myron Bolitar. And to keep this on topic, I just finished the 11th Lincoln Rhyme book in the series, The Skin Collector. Now I need some new books.
  18. The Kill Room. Tenth in the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jefferey Deaver. The first one was made into a major motion picture starring Denzel Washington...The Bone Collector. I enjoy the crime drama series books. Revisiting old friends every time a new one comes out. Lincoln Rhyme, Lucas Davenport, Jack Reacher, Will Trent.
  19. In their religion (cult), and the way she's been raised since birth, she's had no opportunity at all to get out on her own. "Children" are under the authority of their parents (read: father) until they marry, and that goes for both boys and girls. Jana will be allowed to move out when she gets married and not one minute before. If she rebels and leaves on her own, she will be completely cut off from everyone else in her family. Shunned, in essence. She wouldn't be allowed any contact with her siblings until/unless she repented and came home. And as far as "she might as well help out her family" the poor thing has done nothing but help out her family since she could lift a baby to her hip and operate a can opener. She has been mother/teacher/cook/maid/secretary/slave all her life.
  20. and see where fun-etics got us...
  21. Nathan's incredible selfishness has bothered me for years. His behavior during the season 3 finale did not strike me as "romantic" or even really seem like love. It was motivated purely by a selfish desire to keep what he wanted. Duke told him "She's trying to save this town. I hate it, but it is *her* choice." That's love. Vince said something similar. "I loved her too, but *I* let her go." Then Nathan essentially spends all of season 4 trying to atone for that by attempting Suicide by Audrey. If he can get her to kill him, he doesn't have to feel guilty anymore and he gets to be a hero/martyr, giving the town this great 'gift' of ending the troubles. Now, what...three episodes into season 5 and he's forgotten all of that and run off with Mara after he promised to turn her over to Dwight, because he thinks he can get Audrey back. And he can claim it's for the good of the town all he wants...I don't buy it. I want to like Nathan, I really do. I can tell I'm supposed to like Nathan. But I don't like Nathan.
  22. This... makes this a temporary "solution" at best. I have no doubt that the government/military would try it though.
  23. Figure 8 always sounded like a lullaby to me. Or at least it lulled me into a stupor as a kid. Didn't much like that one. For some reason, I've had the doo-wop "Victim of Gravity" stuck in my head for a couple of days now. At least it's a bouncy earworm.
  24. "doing a 360" Oh, arrghh! Drives me insane. I call 'em on it. "So, no change then"?
  25. When a character tosses off a flippant "I could care less". No. That's not what you meant. I could care less means you still care. "I couldn't care less" means the limit has been reached.
