  1. That was my thought exactly. I feel like that line would have actually been really funny if Piper and Boo (or one of the other mostly comic relief characters) were shooting the shit and Piper said it sarcastically, but the way it was presented the whole story line just makes Piper annoying and absurdly out of touch with reality. It's honestly a shame because the first two seasons were about Piper being dragged out of her privileged comfort zone, and her character development was actually interesting. Now Piper just feels like a lame joke. Also I agree with everyone else about liking Alex's story line. Its dark and there is tension but at the same time the actual conflict is kinda ridiculous, which is refreshing. I feel like the show tends to use real world issues to create drama, whether its private prisons, racism, transgender rights, or Doggett's rape. Don't get me wrong, those issues are important and its good to have the show address some of them, but sometimes the writers overload the story lines with issues to point where some end up feeling forced.
  2. Honestly part of me thinks that's why Ali became a teacher. This way the new Lairs can be in her class and she can act as the one thread that runs through all of the seasons. Which I honestly think kills any interest I might have had in a new group of Liars. Don't get me wrong one way or the other I think the show will suck (even more) without its current cast, but Ali has to be the most boring and frustrating character ever since she came out of hiding.
  3. The way last season ended, I thought they were setting up Emily/Alison. I guess either they were just screwing with the fans again or we are going to get another love triangle. Either way I am looking forward to this upcoming season less and less.
  4. Ok so I honestly don't know where to put this comment because it combines my thoughts on the show being cancelled, this episode, and something said in the media thread but I guess why not get the series final thread going. So after watching this episode and reading that Carter said he was planning on dragging out Karma/Amy until the end of the series (see media thread), I am honestly not that sad the show was cancelled. I am sorry but an entire series of will they won't they would have driven me crazy. Plus it means Karma and Amy would have had their friendship torn apart at least once a season to provide more filler drama, which would have gotten really old really fast. I guess the premise of the show was that they started with both of the girls faking that they didn't have romantic feels and at the end Karma would admit her feels and then they would not be faking it anymore. And they all live happily ever after or something. The ending to this episode just reminded me of how much I would not have enjoyed this show continuing. The final was basically the writers throwing all of the characters together in random pairing. I know that was probably to give the show somewhat of a conclusion but even if only half of those relationships were originally planned, that's still two more relationships what would fall apart before the show reached whatever conclusion was planned. At least the way it ended, with everyone pairing up, we get some indication that the characters have moved on. Amy finally has a friend who loves her back. Karma and Amy are finally in a good place, where Amy is no longer in love with Karma and Karma is not acting borderline narcissistic. Also while Felix is super boring he is an improvement over Karma throwing herself at Liam. Also Lauren and Liam have each other. I guess that's nice. Oh and I forgot about Shane and Noah. They're happy together. Honestly I was never super invested in their relationship. I knew Shane was going to mess things up for the sake of drama! and entertainment! but Shane's whole act was starting to get old. His impulsive nature was funny in Season 1 and entertaining in Season 2, but by now it was just getting old and honestly a homeless transgender teen shouldn't have to put up with Shane's drama. One random last thought, the cleanse with Karma's parents was funny. I laughed when it cut to their house on fire. I honestly wish Carter had just had Amy and Karma get together last season and sent them off on weird lesbian adventures together. Anyway its been fun. I will probably see most of you guys again for season 7 of pretty little liars.
  5. As much as I like this show, I really don't understand why they dragged things out past Season 3. Does MTV have any long running scripted shows? They could have easy had two seasons of Amy and Karma figuring out they want to be together, one season where they get together like half way through, and two season of them together as a couple. Boom five seasons, which is honestly just as long if not longer than a lot shows targeted at MTV demographic. I really don't get why they planned this show out like they were going to make 200 episodes.
  6. I am on the fence about Sabrina. On one hand, I like the actress and I like the idea of Amy having a female friend other than Karma (she had Lauren but with them being stepsisters that relationship was always going to be a different). On the other, it really bugs me that Karma and Sabrina started feuding the second Sabrina came back. It just seems to make both girls seem petty and a little controlling of Amy. As for Liam and Lauren, they're just boring together and in general. I feel like they made Lauren less snarky and Liam less of a bro. I guess they were trying to make the characters feel more real and less over the top, but I don't care about Liam searching for his father. More importantly, what is even going on with Lauren these past couple of episodes? Am I forgetting something or has her biggest problem really been that she needs to find a new helper? Shane though I still really enjoy. The writers made him way less self centered but still have him struggle to not blab secrets to everyone. Its funny and over the top but still something I can care about.
  7. So does anyone think that the script for this episode went through a rewrite at some point? I mean you have Liam, who is Jewish (well at least for two thirds of the episode), help set up a system where everyone is forced to wear badges identifying what religious groups and sexual orientations they belong to. Does anyone else feel like there was going to be a connect made to a certain historical regime, but at some point someone decided that was too dark? Maybe that's why we got Liam's random I'm not Jewish phase that lasted like five minutes. Other than that no complaints about the episode. I like that Sabrina may have actual feelings for Amy. I mean I know this is just one more relationship to get in the way of Karma/Amy but I would just like Sabrina to be more than a jealous crazy person.
  8. Maybe because somebody's sexuality is Untitled? And somebody is probably Amy, Karma, or Sabrina. No idea if that is what the writers are going for, but I am going to pat myself on back if I get it right.
  9. Plus it doesn't help that Amy is always the one dropping everything for Karma. Earlier in the show, it seems like Amy and Karma's friendship had been thrown out of wack by Amy's feelings for Karma. I always figured that their relationship had originally consisted of Karma calming Amy down when she was about to do something rash and Amy forcing Karma to pull her head out of her own ass. Amy being too much of a yes woman would have explained why Karma seems so narcissistic. The problem is now the girls have had time apart, Amy has moved on from her feelings for Karma (at least for the moment), they are supposedly getting back to the way things used to be and yet their friendship is still weird and honestly pretty one sided. We never see Karma sacrifice anything to help Amy, she does it when she has the time.
  10. Yes they did. It was sweet but you didn't miss anything, though if it is bothering you the episode is up on the MTV website now.
  11. Well if nothing else I lolled at Shane with blue hair. Other than that the only scene that really did anything for me was the ending at the hospital with Amy and Karma. If the scene had been any longer I probably would have teared up, though I cried at the beginning of Batman v Superman, so that probably doesn't mean much. Either way its good to see Amy and Karma to be friends again. For characters who are mentioned to be best friends forever it feels weird that they have spent like half the shows run time fighting or not speaking. I am with Cranberry on Nona, the character could really go either way right. I honestly was hoping that the new transgender character was going to be a love interest for Amy, just so they could say she is pansexual and explain that they "planned from the beginning" to have Amy be the first pansexual character on TV.
  12. Wait, wait. I like the NAT idea. Cece was dating Jason, Jason was part of NAT. They could have just had Cece be in some of the videos and/or have helped make them. Alison steals the videos and gives one or more copies to the Lairs. Cece and the rest of NAT spend the next three years trying to track down the videos because none of them want to go to jail for child porn. Cece eventually starts to go crazy from too much study aid and becomes uber-A. There we go, we did it. We made a better ending than the actually writers. Totally a worthwhile use of a Friday night.
  13. This perfectly sums up what is wrong with the mystery with this show. I just wanted to add, that the writers are in this situation because they have not introduced any well developed character since season 3 (Cece was probably the last somewhat well developed character) and they have used up all of the original characters for "shocking" reveals. I guess it kinda a chicken or the egg situation. The writers don't have any well developed characters because they keep throwing in new characters for reveals (Shower and Rollins) but the since they keep adding new characters for each season, no one new is around long enough to become a well developed character. Repeat every twelve episodes.
  14. This. If I had to guess the show feels that way because the writers are so heavy handed with everything. The first time some plot thread or idea is presented, its immediately obvious where the writers are going with it. So the first time we see something, it came out of nowhere, every time after that the plot thread or idea feels old and dragged out. Basically the writes do not trust us to follow something that is remotely subtle, so they beat us over the head with the same idea over and over again. Which is weird when you think about all of the fan theories and fanfiction out there; the fans clearly think about this show way to much.
  15. I definitely think it is a little premature to accuse the writers of de-gaying the show. Don't get me wrong I agree with everything Heather said about gay couples being portrayed differently on this show and in general, but Emily has been single for 10 episodes (I can't figure out why Shower is not a real love interest), less than that if it turns out that the writers are making Emily/Alison endgame. If anything the scene where Alison was checking herself into psych ward was actually kinda sweet, particularly compared to how gross every other relationship is right now. Could the writers just be queer-baiting? Yes, but until we see what happens next season, I feel like complaints about Emily's love life are more an example to how badly this show is being written, instead of an attempt by the writers to erase Emily's sexuality.
  16. So the writers used the five year time jump to breakup all of the relationships, just so they could get them back together 10 episodes later. Not really sure it was worth it. (Yes I know Toby and Spencer are not back together but they spent the whole episode together and their current relationships are about to go to shit.) Not to mention the one healthy relationship on the show is now going to destroy a friendship, wonderful. Also is Emily/Alison ever going to happen again. I don't even ship them together anymore, I just want to know if the show is ever going to acknowledge that they dated for like three days. I mean Elliot is evil and Emily and Alison spent an entire episode together and then told each other they love each other at the end of the episode. Where else could this show be going? Side note, does anyone think the show went with more nudity this episode because the FreeForm re-branding was meant to bring in a slightly older demographic. I was honestly a little shocked to see that much of Troian's very attractive butt. Last thoughts, I laughed at Toby's glasses and Hanna running in the rain. Probably the only good thing this episode was the fact Alison got something interesting to do.
  17. Yeah the only scenes that I liked were the flashbacks with Toby and Spencer. I mean a pregnancy scare seems like the most obvious plot point for a teen soap opera ever, but at least Troian had some dramatic acting for once this season, instead of writers simply putting the Lairs on screen with their various love interests, to play with the emotions of the shippers. Oh also what did Emily say about a pink drink to Hanna at the start of the episode? Does Ashley still think a pink drink is lesbian code for something? Well at least it was a call back to a better season, lol.
  18. My wish is for reasonable breaks between seasons. Seriously, I just watched the trailer for Season 3 and I have don't even remember how I am supposed to feel about any of these characters.
  19. So we all know the writers of this show love to make heavy-handed references to classic movies. Does anyone think that is what they are doing with Alison? For some reason I keep getting the feeling that she is housewife from the 1950's or 1960's. Was there some classic movie were a woman spends years waiting at home for a loved one to return, only to have them stolen away from her? I would explain why Alison clothes look terrible, since they are meant as a reference some outdated fashion. Also it would explain why Alison's personality did a 180, because the character she is being modeled after was not a former queen bee, but instead a housewife or a teacher. The reason I am guessing this movie is from the 50's or 60's is because Alison is dealing with Charlotte's treatment and murder by being completely passive and throwing herself at an older respectable man. She is never self destructive or proactive, she is just kinda there. It just seems like a really dated way to right a female character.
  20. The only scene that really stood out for me was the Hanna and Caleb flashback, and even there I am really torn. On the one hand I liked that they showed us how Hanna and Caleb grew apart even though they used to be the healthiest couple on the show. The reason they give, both Caleb and Hanna had very time consuming and different careers, feels like a realistic reason for them growing apart. That being said, why do couples never fight when they breakup on this show? They either act all angsty or passive aggressive until it is over. I get that fashion is not Caleb's thing but the least he could do is stay with Hanna and be nice to her future bosses. Also, I hated how Hanna phrased everything as a question in the flashback. She is smart enough to know what was bothering Caleb. Either tell him that he can go home or tell him to support you in your career. I did not want to see the screaming and crying that happens in nasty real life breakups, I just wish one of them had come out and said that they were not happy with their relationship and actually addressed the problems they were having. Maybe I am being to harsh. After six seasons of epic teenage romances (I am looking at you Aria), I just want the show to be a little more direct with the relationships.
  21. Ok so I kept pausing the show to read stuff on Facebook, so I ended up taking two hours to watch the show. I think that demonstrates how much interest I have left in this show. As for things that jumped out at me this episode: Good: Team Sparia! If only the writers would send Spencer and Aria off by themselves more often. I liked Hanna telling off her boss. It was nice to highlight how much more confident Hanna is now compare to when the show started. Emily on hormones. It made me smirk. Bad: A stole Emily's eggs. If this show had not already jumped the shark, it just did. What is going on with Emily and Alison? The show just dropped their relationship back in season five and now Alison is taking care of Emily after surgery. This is the first episode that Emily and Alison have really interacted alone since the time jump, not to mention that Alison is dating Dr. Rollin and is going to marry him. I want the show to develop Alison and Emily's relationship post time jump, particularly because I am assuming Emily is mature enough to not fall head over heels for her freshman year crush, but it feels like the show is trying to set them up romantically, which just does not work. Lastly I continue to roll my eyes every time Sara is on the screen. When she was talking with Alison, why was Alison mad that Sara threw Charlotte under the bus? Either Sara was working with Charlotte willing, in which case she is a psychopath so off course she tried to save herself, or Charlotte did kidnap and brain wash her, in which case, there is nothing that could have been said at Charlotte's trial that would have been unfair.
  22. Forget the writing or acting, does anyone else hate the way texts show up on the screen all the time. Between the words being slanted and the fact they aren't in little bubbles that are a single color, they are a complete pain in the ass to read, imho.
  23. When I read this I was thinking 'Wait what about Paige?', before realizing she is basically as useless as the Lairs. So yeah, I guess in Rosewood, to get anything done you have either have to be a man or an evil women. That explains why Alison has been so useless since she came back to life, she had to relinquish her ability to do anything proactive to be forgiven, but seriously for a show that tries to include feminist ideas, the writers really miss the mark on some story lines.
  24. Emily's current story line is definitely an example of the writers making the girls tell bigger lies to make the reveals more "shocking". I don't get why they did not just have Emily say she decided to take time off from school to cover up the fact she failed out, and since she failed out, her scholarship was gone so she was just trying to buy time until she could figure out a way to pay for college again. Instead Emily faked a college graduate and was in the process of fake applying for medical school. What was her end game, setup a fake medical practice?
  25. Ok so the payout goes to whoever placed money on Emily selling her eggs. Shame I really thought I had a chance with Emily having her dad's heart condition. Also why does Sara blame the Lairs for what happened to her? Forgot the fact she was trying to set off a bomb and kill four people and that she helped torture the girls for weeks. Seriously what could the Lairs have done to prevent Sara from being electrocuted? From what I saw, the girl stood up and grabbed the inside of a fuse box. Unless one of the girls is the Flash, Sara was screwed. Are the writers trying to imply that the Lairs left Sara to save Charlotte? I guess that makes some sense (again forgetting that both characters are psychopaths), but from what I understand, if you get electrocuted, most of the permanent damage happens right away. The only thing the Lairs could have done was stand around and wait for EMTs to arrive. If the writers want the Lairs to feel bad about what happened, shouldn't the Liars, oh I don't know, have had some control over what happened?
