  1. I got that vib too but I feel like that moment isn't really earned. I thought the girls had all been living in Rosewood for the past year, without any AD trouble holding them together, so shouldn't they just go back to normal. Like everyone's careers seem to be going well. Aria and Hannah look like they will be millionaires. Everyone was married and trying for kids. I felt like the plot of show made this last run in with AD an after thought and everyone was already established in their lives. The undertone of everything is ending didn't really make any sense for the five characters. Unless they figure out they were in a tv show and they are just happy Marlene King will stop doing weird stuff to them.
  2. Weirdly I think I am the most annoyed about Alison/Emily being endgame. Like I figured the other three couples would end up together but I was honestly hoping Emily would runaway with Paige. I know Paige was still messed up, but it felt like the less for-the-shippers option.
  3. So is the spin off show confirmed because if not the fact that the final scene of the show was just a remake of the first scene of the show, but with characters we care nothing about, just makes this even worse.
  4. Wait wait Mona is running a doll shop, with Twincer and Mary Drake in the basement. I may have spoken too soon about wishing this final was crazier.
  5. Amen. The first half felt like multiple fanfics all pushed pushed together.
  6. Like I can't decided if this is so bad it sucks or its not crazy enough. Like I wish the whole final was from crazy Mona's point of view. With random things happening in the background and just zero attempt to make sense. Then maybe I could get into it.
  7. Yeah, the only time I have seen a pregnancy story line end in an abortion was on Shameless, and that show pushes all kinds of boundaries for both dramatic and comedic reasons. Pretty Little Lairs on the other hand tries to throw out "shocking" twists, while in reality being as safe as possible.
  8. This was honestly my thought exactly. Like the first scene in Spencer kitchen I was thinking "Oh this could be a half way decent plot thread they are setting up for the next half scene" and then it was all downhill from there. They crammed the entire arc into like half of the episode. Way to burn through material. Also I figured Emily/Alison was going to be off the table once Alison revealed she was pregnant with her dead husband's child. I guess not. Then again when has this show ever done anything in good taste.
  9. Personally I think we should just be grateful the show ended before one of the girls refused to come back for another season and we had some awkward explanation about them going away to college and never being heard from again.
  10. Does any else think the future reveal is going to be Ezra leaving Aria, because of something Nicohole related? Either she is back or Ezra has decided to sulk for the rest of his life. Because let's be honest, the writers' current rule for deciding the plot twists is put everything on a board and pick the most annoying choose possible.
  11. This so much. Was this show always light entertaining nonsense? Yes. But at least in the early seasons they actually had interesting story lines. Now they make up new conflicts every season, that relate to nothing. This show has so many dropped plot threads, that would be so much more interesting than the actually story lines they give us. Hell, this past episode, when Emily and Ali were sitting in the park I thought they were finally going to address the fact they had sex years ago, but instead we just get an awkward conversation about Emily working at Rosewood High. I mean at least Emily's love life approximates that of the average 23 year old, but lets be honest no one cares about Emily's relationships with the random girls working at Ezra's coffee shop. If they are going to spend time on the girl's love life, can they at least pick a love interest we actually know enough to be invested in one way or the other? Yes I know I am asking to much. I am sorry. Rant over.
  12. Maybe my standards are too low but I am fine with Paige coming back. We all know the writers were going to give us filler to pad out this last season, at least they are using a character we all know and like. IMHO, if we have to see a big Emily/Alison/some other girl love triangle, I would rather the other girl be Paige than that random blonde that works for Ezra.
  13. I loved the look Ali gave Aria at dinner. I was honestly expecting Ali to follow it up with, "Seriously, bitch?" Also Emily trying to do stuff with her mom was sweet. Pam was always one of the best parents on the show, the best if you count the fact she actually had a character arc in the early seasons. That being said, couldn't they have come up with something less awkward than having a bachelorette party in the background for most of that story line? Other than that we have a new A lead. So my predictions for the mystery of Mary Drake's child are Noel is the suspect for the next two episodes, then Aria is the suspect, and in the last 5 minutes of the half season final, it is revealed Jason is actually Mary Drake's son and he has been in on everything the whole time. While total bs, it would at least retcon away the Cece/Jason relationship with them plotting some scheme together instead.
  14. Aria actually mentions in the car that Hanna had only committed vehicular manslaughter, so even the Lairs know they did was not considered murder. Not to mention the fact that Rollins was only killed because he was trying to kidnap Alison and the Lairs were trying to save her. I am pretty sure in most places if you kill someone to prevent them from committing a serious crime (like kidnapping), its considered justified, or at least you can reasonably expect to not be convicted. Also I love how at the end of the episode, Jenna felt the need to give her full name on the phone. Like shouldn't whatever-his-name-is know who is calling him on the burner phone. Other than that, I actually really liked this episode. The girls were actually proactive and with the help of Mona may have actually covered their tracks for once. The relationship fluff and side story lines were kept to a minimum. Alison seems to get getting back to her old self. They even paired up the Lairs well. I always like Emily/Spencer and Hanna/Aria scenes. Oh, I forgot Spencer's random hookup scene. I feel like it fit into the episode as well as any sex scene this show has ever had ("I'm being stalked by a psychopath, I guess I can spare a hour to bang.") but it really felt like another example of the writers trying to show how adult and edgy the network is since the name change. I mean I know they choose that sex position so she would look at her reflection and decide to stop, but did we really need to see Spencer get bent over in a elevator by a random guy.
  15. Yes! This. I've been so bored by docile/wimpy Alison of the the post time jump. She had a few moments after Charlotte died, but mostly she's been bland and damseled. This Ally is the one I can get behind. Yes, it will likely take the form of manipulating the girls into protecting her next week... but proactive Allison, manipulative possible sociopath and all, is way more fun. Yes and all it took was for her to be institutionalized and drugged with huge doses of a stimulant to get her back to her old scheming, sociopathic self. Though seriously, its good to see the writers finally realized the melodramatic blob they turned Ali into was getting really boring.
  16. At least Spencer had a drug problem and is a pro at picking locks. Unless I am forgetting something, Alison hasn't even trespassed since the night she went missing. Seriously, what happened to the little sociopath we saw in the first three or four seasons of flashbacks? If anything being stalked by a psychopath and living on the street is decent motivation to commit all kinds of crimes.
  17. Plus this is Alison, so couldn't she, I don't know, lie about Rollins motives! You know because Alison is supposed to a brilliant, borderline pathological liar, and of all things, this situation would be pretty easy to lie your way out of. I mean the guy already drugged, institutionalized, and kidnapped his much younger wife. I find it hard to believe Alison doesn't already have some story thought up. "Well officer, whenever we had sex, he insisted (insert disturbing controlling behavior here). Do you think that was some kind of warning sign?" I mean I guess we don't know yet why they are burying the body, but the explanation nara gave is the closest thing to a reasonable motivation for them to bury Rollins that there is, at least that I can think of.
  18. Wow the Liars solved this mystery in no time. If anything the girls were too good. "Rollins has blue contacts. Wilden had blue eyes. Rollins must have dressed up as Wilden to convince Alison she was crazy. Its the only logical explanation!" I mean more happened these last three episodes than in all of seasons 4, 5, and 6, so I guess I can't complain too hard. As for the less important stuff: The Hanna/Caleb/Spencer situation still sucks but at least they seem to be working things through and getting the story line over with. Emily, I get you like Sabrina, but if someone turns you down, don't go on a long rambling speech about how she should give you a second chance, less than 12 hours later. Then again it worked and was a healthier start than most of this show's relationships, so, once again, I guess you should not complain too hard. As for Aria, I am sorry at least she is away from Ezra and getting stuff done, but there were so many times when I just thought 'how dumb can this girl be'. Like stop asking Hanna about the burn marks on her back. Or the scene with her and Hanna in the car. I do not know what was worse, her being shocked that there is bad cell service in Amish country or the fact she felt the need to talk about how happy she and Hanna should be with their respective significant others (I know this last one is not her fault but god she was just clueless about everything). Also watching her search Rollins things, could she have worked any harder to move everything around. Ok sorry no Ezra, I will just try to be happy about that.
  19. Right, I remember the creepy nature of the book being brought up before on here (or maybe it was all the way back on Television Without Pity). I never even heard of the book before it came up on the show so I just had one quick question. Is the creepiness of the relationship considered the main point of the relationship in the book or at least is that the widely held interpretation? I am just asking because I know there are books like Phantom of the Opera were some people think of it as this epic romance, but anyone with a degree in English considers the book a trashy romance novel, just a really old one. If its more like Phantom then who knows how the writers want the reference to be looked at.
  20. The funny thing is back in like season three or four, Spencer expressed basically the same sentiment to Hanna. Hanna asked if knowing everything that happened, would Spencer still have become friends with Ali, and Spencer replied she would because otherwise she would have never meet Hanna. It was actually a really sweet scene (and probably spawned a bunch of Spencer/Hanna fan fictions but that's beside the point). Of course, Spencer was acknowledging that Ali and A were terrible, and Hanna, who was not responsible for anything bad happening to Spencer, was a good enough friend to make all that terrible stuff worth it, so the scene worked. Aria, on the other hand, has been directly and indirectly hurt by Ezra repeatedly, and Aria is trying to explain why all of those bad things that happened are not that bad, so basically it comes off like someone trying to justify their abuser's actions.
  21. Ok lets break it down by story line: Aria and Ezra: mac123x already summarized why this situation is so messed up but there is one thing I would like to add. Liam told Ezra he understands the appeal of an older man dating a younger woman (he made a reference to some book they always bring up). All I have to say no! I am sorry, I am a 24 year old man who is attracted to women on regular basis, and I personally have zero interest in dating a high school girl. The closest I get is thinking 'Oh your cute, I remember when life was that simple'. Not trying to be condescending, its just I really have no interest in someone at that different of a stage in their life. I get most of us on this site hate Ezria but god they really need to stop acting like this is something innocent that just happened. Spencer, Hanna, and Caleb: At least with this story line the girls are trying to be adults. Hanna realizes it was a mistake and she doesn't act like Caleb is her long lost true love. Spencer gets that something is going on, but she is not about to flip a shit on Hanna about some old feels that Hanna may have for Caleb. Caleb is the only one who comes out looking bad. He seems like he legitimately still loves Hanna, even though he is dating Spencer, which is a shitty thing to do even when the girls aren't best friends. It honestly feels like the writers realized over the break that having two love triangles on the show was a really dumb idea and now they are trying to back out of this love triangle as quickly as possible, which I guess we should be grateful for. Or they will screw it up and Hanna and Caleb will be back together by the end of the season. Emily: Poor girl. At least she is trying to get things done. If only she could do something other than pine away for Ali. And speaking of her, I thought Ali was supposed to be a main character. Can't she actually be part of the group, instead of constantly being someone that has to be saved? Overall I actually liked these last two episodes. Do not get me wrong the plot is beyond ridiculous and the Lairs keep doing dumb stuff so the mystery can continue, but overall its at least feels like some effort is being put in by the writers, at least compared to past seasons. Also the Lairs, with the except of Aria, all seem to at least be on the same show. Emily is trying to take care of Hanna. Spencer and Hanna have that awkward tension because of Caleb. Spencer and Emily at least discuss that is going on. I know its nothing great but its better than past seasons when the girls would meet up once at the start and end of each episode and then go off in completely unrelated directions for the remaining forty minutes of the show.
  22. When Rollin's says he spent the past five years taking care of Ali and Charlotte, did he say Charlotte or Charlie? If he says Charlotte, someone tell him to stop mumbling his lines. If he says Charlie, well its not like this show has done anything right with the depiction of trans characters, so at least they are consistent.
  23. Not going to lie that was better than I was expecting, like a lot better. The plot keep the Lairs (with the exception of Hanna obviously) together for the most part instead of sending them off on random side stories, and pretty much everything that happened was relevant to the plot. That scene with Hanna and Spencer was so sweet and probably the best moment the show has had in a few seasons. Even Aria and Ezra were not as bad as normal. Their interactions felt more like comforting than the normal epic romance shtick they normally go through (I am sure #Ezria4ever or whatever will be back soon, but I will take what I can get). I mean don't get me wrong, every time someone outside the main cast spoke the dialogue was cringe inducing and the Ali's insanity plot is pretty stupid. I guess my standards for this show are way too low. On a side note, does anyone else think the show is trying to be more edgy now that the network is Freeform instead of ABCFamily? Like the fact Hanna spent the whole episode in her underwear, with and without the fact she was kidnapped and tortured, felt like something we would not have seen before. Also Aria's comment about hoping Ezra didn't find one of Ali's toys, again felt out of place, at least compared to previous seasons. Other side note, about Aria's comment about how it was bad enough she had to go through Ali's underwear and she was hoping Ezra did not find a toy, was I the only one who thought that comment sounded kinda forced. Like they have been friends since they were like 13 or 14, is any of that really a big deal. I mean personally it would not have phased me if I had to go through a close friends underwear drawer, though maybe its different because my friends and I are all guys. I am just asking because it felt like the writers wanted to make a sex toy joke because the show is more adult now or whatever, instead of, you know, the comment being something that would actually be said.
  24. Does Spencer seriously have an Apple Watch? Also I agree with ottoDbusdriver, "a lethal dose of guilt" has to be the stupidest line this show has ever come up with. If they actually wanted to do something with the institutionalized Alison story line, why didn't they just play up the fact that mental illness is often genetic? You know, Cece was institutionalize at the age of like eight, so Ali thinks she a ticking time bomb for a mental breakdown, and one day she's just going to snap and never come back. I know that's not how mental illness works at least not in the vast majority of cases, but it has to better than were this story line is actually going. Also Sasha would have gotten to do something other than scream and flail around. Lastly why does Ali feel guilty? Was this an actual thing last season that I am forgetting or is it going to get explained?
  25. Honestly I don't even know what the writers are going for. If they are going for deluded then Taylor Schilling is pulling it off fine. Also she was nominated for an Emmy for season 2, so I think she has the acting ability to perform whatever they want. Maybe the episode's director didn't understand what the writers were going for? If I am remembering right, they never showed her commit a crime but she was going to pull a gun on the general, so I assumed she acted out similarly later in life and got arrested.
