For now several reasons, I refrained from picking this game (outright). I was actually going to predict a tie here, which means a Chicago win as they were +6 or whatever. Washington's success is not sustainable; no way it was worth it to "bet" TNF tonight. The uniforms are not that awful. Sure, their current name can go away, but I'm never going to agree about moving to whatever they were called until this current name. Fortunately I've gotten so used to saying "Washington" and nothing more

While I agree Pete wasn't the best person to go with for the premiere, I'm okay with it. The main reason for me is simple. I believe the days or a week before the strike, the work stoppage was more probable than not. Therefore I sorta wished they would've moved his show up closer to Ana's show. Obviously it was easier said than done but 04/29 was pretty reasonable I think. So I have no problem with it since he was due, but I don't think SNL was obligated to give him the nod. They probably could've worked him in later (and maybe they still will). Anyway, glad there's an actual date & the show is coming back. What was crazy (for me) is that a couple hours before the news broke, I was actually looking into news on Season 49, mainly thinking about addressing Miss Swift (and the big nature of everything related to her) onto the show. However, there was absolutely nothing. Then I return and out of nowhere the show is back. I didn't even think that it was real close (one week from Saturday), but here we are. Whether SNL is Taylor free or not (expecting the latter), it's great that everyone is back. As it the custom, whenever there's something that puts the show on hold, everybody usually returns. No one wants the previous live show to be their last

I think I forgot about that completely before today. A couple scheduling changes for Week Six include Tampa Bay & Detroit moving from the 1:00 start time to the GOTW slot of 4:25, and the Jets/Eagles game likely no longer being the game the A Team will be calling one week from Sunday. The latter looks like it'll be a blowout. What may be odd is the scheduled SNF game featuring New York & Buffalo is still in that 8:20 spot. Probably not ideal to flex out an NFC East team, but Cleveland/San Francisco would've been a better matchup. IMO, that was the only choice to move to Sunday night, but I guess it was protected. Kansas City & Minnesota is now the 4:25 main game on 10/08/23, as opposed to Jets & Denver.

It's too bad, but it isn't too bad that a team that fell short toward a bye doesn't get booted from the postseason thanks to one bad day following a 162-game season. Despite being okay with the one-game wildcard (which is the current feeling since it's been a rapid WC), best of 3 is pretty good. Too bad they're waiting until Saturday to start the LDS as opposed to Thursday or Friday

Previously on Survivor returning is a step in the right direction TBH!

Awww that sucks. Or maybe it's convenient. Planet Earth will not be treated to her sad reaction since she'll be unavailable against KC's conference nemesis. Though who knows what to expect from Cincinnati? As mentioned, SNF was slated to do well without her. The ratings & viewership probably were slated to hit those numbers, or maybe not but still top everything else in the ratings before Aaron Rodgers got hurt. Also mentioned someplace else, the NFL has been around for over a century & Miss Swift has only been around for less than 3.5 decades. Of course the totals are better with her than without, but the number are not going to be on the level of the Louie Anderson Family Feud if she's not there

IMO, a fair conclusion based on swiftgate is that you can hate it but respect it. IOW, you may not be a fan of it, but you'd probably might not make it to the next second in your career if you put an end to the nonsense. Both can be the case. Though I might not fire someone as quick as JTMacc99, but I would probably boot someone for saying that in that way (can't show Taylor anymore because her haters hate it). I'd be like, "Okay, Todd (or whatever your name is). I see. I'll get back to you on that." Then 24 hours later, "Todd" would be unemployed. Might give someone the benefit of the doubt that he or she is joking. If you're running a network, you cut back on Taylor Swift if it messes with one's revenue. If she turns out to be a bad person and/or viewership goes down, that would be a different story. The NFL has been very good at running something to the ground, but pivoting off of it quick. So no, the league isn't going to crumble. They adjust, move to what's next, and people move on & are happy. Plus, this isn't new. It's October; it's early in a long football season. There's always something that isn't too focused on the actual game. Eventually it'll die down as we move to November, December, and January where the games mean more. Except it might not, but more people will adjust & deal with it to where they'll still get their viewing in while Taylor is shown a ton. I don't even think she'll be going to all the games, but probably several (especially if it's SNF, MNF, and a 4:25 game). We'll see about that TNF game against Denver

As far as Taylor Swift goes, if she's the reason people are watching football, or if it's the reason why the NFL is the actual biggest TV show in 40 years, or since M.A.S.H ended, then so be it. If you're on the fence toward attending one of the next Super Bowls (Superdome & Levi), I would do everything possible to obtain your ticket. If Swift decides to perform in the Super Bowl in either one of the next two Super Bowls, you're not getting in, period

Doubtful. Minnesota's defense isn't great. If it's a close battle, Patrick might just throw one, but this game might not be decent looking. While it is at US Bank Stadium, unless the Vikings survive, hopefully they will not focus too much on Swift to where no one will encode Mahomes win against his 31st team

Too bad Taylor isn't a couple with Daboll. That might have been the only thing that could help the Giants be winners in the NFL

The doubt on Tampa Bay started with me. Maybe a record of 0-14-3 was harsh, but I honestly did not picture a game this season where you can check a W in terms of its outcome. Maybe they'll have success in the NFC South as opposed to the NFC South having a couple wins against the 2020 champions. Todd Bowles does not have a great history as a HC, and he couldn't do much with Tom Brady. Therefore I figured it was curtains for Todd & company as the Bucs trend toward Caleb like several teams in the league However, they might be okay. Maybe not sustainable, but if all goes well, they might be playoff bound. Maybe they'll win a game before things end. Fortunately, unless you're Philly, San Francisco, and maybe Detroit & Dallas, nobody is scary in the NFC

Actually, is there any room at the table for Panthers fans. The black and gold usually takeover stuff like Vegas' Allegiant Stadium, so Carolina would be ones shutout here
-
That's fine, as long as the spin isn't "The Taylor Swift Effect" since the NFL has produced the best numbers without her. Just as long as they show her if Travis puts the ball on the ground in a way similar to what took place late in 2022 at Paycor

Georgia only received 35 first place votes, going by the AP Poll. Typically the top team gets about 80%. Their games next month, specifically in the middle of the month, will truly test them. However, they should be able to beat everyone else on their easy schedule. It's just surprising how sloppy they've looked. Part of it might've been due to the entire outcome against TCU

I love Taylor Swift, but I agree this is not cool for the fans that actually listened to whomever and did something else whenever she was on television. In other words, she was a big deal during the summer. Well, she's been a big deal for a long time, but it was rather epic this summer season. People told the "haters" or whomever, "Your TV came with a remote. You know what to do with it if you don't want to watch Swift stuff." So the football fans who didn't need Taylor in their lives did that, and they're doing what they've been doing since Day One. That's watching football. You have to show her from time to time, but more than that? Yikes! TBH, this might be league-driven. Though FOX is aggressive with this stuff. NBC not so much, and CBS hates it. It's NFL driven, period
-
Just wait until next week. When Cousins either throws it to the wrong team or the defense of Kirk's team blows it. That game for the CBS late window replaced the Jets/Broncos one, BTW
-
While one could take Caleb staying another year with a grain of salt, I wouldn't blame him. How is it fair to Williams going forward? He'll go down as a bust through no fault of his own if Chicago gets him. Arizona same thing but to a lesser extent. There are just a lot of awful NFL programs these days
-
Shall we put them in the Tanking for Caleb Williams pool? 😀 Whatever it takes for Bill Belichick and the Pats to respectively pass Phil Jackson and the Pack in terms of hardware!
-
So I heard Aaron Rodgers is present at MetLife in addition to Taylor Swift. Whatever it takes to help make that late night window meaningful I guess. Either A-Rod is on IR or not. I haven't checked since I assumed he might be. On another note, the players in the NFL tend to turn into WWE characters. Heck, the league tends to trend that way sometimes. To take that to another level, in the event Rodgers hasn't been shutdown officially, I think I'm sorta rooting for his injury to be a farce. From there, the spin was that he was out for the year, Kansas City wasn't expecting him, and then a suddenly active Aaron drives the Jets to a home New York victory over the Chiefs. IDK if New York would get in trouble for it, but I think I would totally LMAO if that actually happened tonight
-
That sucks. As for the 3:00 start time for everybody, I'm okay with that. People may not be a fan of it, but whenever TPTB does stuff to wipeout a competitive advantage, that is great
-
If Denver had an epic cousin, that cousin was pissed off, and wanted to show the frustrations with actions, you can watch it live from Orchard Park
-
Y'all could be the Steelers. It's not pretty for several teams but it could be worse!
-
I wouldn't even acknowledge the guy. Maybe spend more time focusing on Tim Wakefield and less NO time on Schilling.
-
Probably made sense to boot Buck now & get a head start for 2024 as opposed to a slow 2024 start before kicking him out mid-season. As much as I don't feel bad for the guy, I do. "Gotta find a way when there's not." As mentioned, it's not all on him, but it's a shame he couldn't win big. OTOH, I'm not losing sleep since his 2013 empty pennant pursuit made the Ravens have to open up on the road as Super Bowl champions. Not something I should care about
