It looked like Carolina (and Chicago before last week) would win a game before both or one of San Francisco & Philadelphia would lose. A Jets win is a little bit of a consolation prize for the Niners
-
The League Championship Series are about to begin. Even though I like Arizona to win, I see Philadelphia winning the NLCS before they beat Houston in the Fall Classic. Not sure if I'll prefer a Texas win over Philly if the former wins the ALCS

FOX does have the right to change their minds I disagree. Having listened to his show with Jim Gray & Larry Fitzgerald, he actually can be a pretty decent human being. There are only a handful of people at most you can say that about that is currently in the media
-
The league wants 90s Cowboys/Bills again. IOW: They want Chiefs/Eagles, with Philadelphia losing again. Though what's good about this is that the Media can now shut up about how epic Brock Purdy is

I could reason with an early Super Bowl for the West Coast. In reason, I'm saying that would suck. However, to be honest I wouldn't lose sleep for the West Coast having a 10 AM game local time. To be fair, I hardly think the West Coast has any sympathy for the East Coast and dealing with an SNF game before the start of the week. Speaking of sympathy, nobody's going to have any sympathy for Niners fans when it took 2 kitchen sink tosses to make them human. Though I do wonder if the 49ers will be the ones losing in a week & the Browns win. A total reversal

I didn't even get a chance to say, "Archie fans? Buckeye fanatics? You can breathe easy & sleep easy going forward!!!"

Apparently, when Oregon said they were fighting for wins and not clicks, it was a valid statement: Their win against Colorado was their real "Super Bowl" or their peak. Can't blame them, they want nothing to do with Georgia again or the playoff

Week Six picks: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Miami, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, both LA teams, Buffalo Week Six ATS & O/U: Tennessee, Vegas, Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Chargers. Over in Chargers/Cowboys game, under in everything else I totally forgot about picking the Jaguars FTW elsewhere. I thought of it earlier but did not remember. Jacksonville doesn't lose at home to Indianapolis

What a terrible loss for Colorado. Of course it would've just been another day a year ago, but Stanford's win on the road isn't as embarrassing as Georgia Tech/Miami. It is a coin-flip in terms of pain between that & West Virginia & Houston. Both great games, and 2 games that I'm glad I stayed away from in terms of predictions. Speaking of which: Week 7 picks: Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, Utah, Oregon, Tennessee, TCU, Kansas, Penn State, Louisville, LSU, Washington State, UNC, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Oregon State, Duke Week 7 Picks ATS: Michigan, Purdue (17.5), Washington, Tennessee, North Carolina, Notre Dame O/U: Over in Michigan & UNC game, under in everything else. OSU/Purdue is a look ahead game for the Buckeyes. No more than 50 points there. Though I probably should've picked U Mass for the same reason. Penn State is capable of blowing out someone else regardless, but 7 TDs is a ton. However, as mentioned, PSU could be favored by 100; I'm going to keep picking PSU and the points until it doesn't happen. Of course, they could win by 50, Ohio State could lose outright, and the Buckeyes will still be favored in one week.

I think they might not even wait until next year. Given their winning, aggressive culture, I imagine they'll address it by the trade deadline. Thinking about it now, I'm a little surprised that they didn't get Claypool. Though I have to look into if they tried before Chase ended up with Miami. While Kansas City is good enough offensively to win this year, they're not going to beat San Francisco this time around assuming both teams remain the way they are. Even if Kelce makes it, that's not enough right now. The good news is that their defense is rising to the occasion to offset the adversities offensively. Finally, Kansas City might be okay if someone else other than the Niners, Eagles, and Detroit wins the NFC
-
I guess winning gives them a pass. Though maybe not so much for Atlanta. For what it's worth, it was a piece of cake to refer to Washington as Washington. Same with several others. I tend to call Kansas City as either KC or their city name. Not their nickname. Yeah I can do without the Tomahawk Chop, but I usually skip over that nonsense or any pregame nonsense. The future is bright they say, and I'd rather focus on the game, period
-
Even though I'm leaning Arizona (rooting interest), I hope Harper is okay
-
I'll pick Kansas City to cover that 10.5, and it doesn't matter if Denver scores or not. Chiefs can get the over 47.5 on their own if they wanted to

I'll admit that I was happy for Houston's win in 2022, but that was only because I wanted to see Dusty win. That was long overdue. Yeah there has been criticism over the years & every once in a while, he'd say (or do) something to where I was all like, "C'Mon man!" Despite some of the pettiness, coupled with managing the Astros, it was great to see him win. Now that it's a part of history, there's nothing to root for. For me, it's gone from, "They cheated!" to, "Meh, this is boring, and several people including yours truly would rather see something different." Having Bochy in there for Texas was important, since, as mentioned, he's the best person to topple Houston. Not sure it'll happen. Now, he did knock off the team that would've had homefield advantage, though I think I definitely would not have bet for Baltimore to beat Houston this year. Got to root for Arizona in the NL, BTW. No big hate for Atlanta or Philadelphia, but same thing applies: something new. I would take Philly before Atlanta, but only if it meant winning it all, or only if Texas wins the AL pennant

Thanks for the heads up, Magog. Prior to your post, I was planning to turn it on, though before that I was not since it might get ugly for Denver (meaning this would be the second consecutive Thursday to do something else). For what it's worth, Kansas City just scored, and kickoff is about nine hours away

I mean, Dave Roberts getting fired probably makes sense, but I can see them doing the opposite more often than not. Especially as the noise of firing him grows everyday from the fans on social media. BTW, I agree with NUguy514; that was embarrassing, and someone else might need to be in Dave's place. It's just that ownership tends to do the opposite of what their fans want. They are not going to listen to ordinary people aka fans on social media. This happens in other places too. Maybe, don't agree to a 3-year extension. They had a chance to move on from Roberts without kicking him out under contract. It's just that I don't think they're getting to the end with the way they operate. While people would still call for his ouster, I would've been fine with a better showing in the NLDS, and even winning it outright before a back-and-forth NLCS before losing there
-
I think I mentioned somewhere that Bochy might be the only thing to stop the Houston. I'm not that optimistic, but to be fair, it's still a better shot to knock out the champs than Baltimore despite the Orioles having home field. Man, not a fan of whoever comes out of the NL, but might be a big one this year!

According to NFL and various sources on X Twitter, Colts first year & first round draft pick is going to be gone for awhile, at the very least. No timetable for his return

I'll admit I laughed at this statistic but then I sort of felt bad for New York. The reason is that a decision to move in the opposite direction instead of the correct one that has brought success is sad. Nothing against Bill Belichick, and maybe it's BS, but the 8 time champion leaving the Patriots to go the NFC isn't as great as it once was. BTW, that story, which isn't that new, was something I saw from SI on my phone (just a headline) Brian Daboll getting fired in favor of Belichick just in time to coach Caleb Williams makes no second at all, period. If someone else was the HC, then I could see that move simultaneous of bring in Daboll as an OC. But that's a definite no way in hell for me

That's the actual Showcase Showdown. The winners that ended up with the trips needed to get to within $250 to win the car. Their bid qualified & was pretty good (enough to win their own showcase), but not close enough. The people that ended up bidding on the showcase with the car were within $250, but on the wrong side of it. I actually enjoyed the Survivor episode more, but that was mainly due to the fact that the episode turned rather depressing toward the second half due to the outcomes. More important, the advantages for Survivor factored into a couple of their pricing games, whereas the Express Pass & other TAR elements did not. Still great to see Phil there. Can't believe they didn't play "Race Game" as that was what I would've expected for sure

Yeah that's too bad. Though to be fair, it is still fairly early. FWIW, Dallas might have success against Philadelphia. Brock still needs to prove it. More on that later. I guess they don't do this for obvious reasons, or because they aren't allowed to, but I would've loved to see Dallas host an NFC Title game and lose at home. From there, whoever beats them gets the trophy celebration at midfield instead of the locker room. That I would love to see. I think I'm sick of hearing how Brock Purdy is undefeated (who every time) in "games he starts & finishes" as the last pick. Nothing against, Purdy, but to the media & whomever: Just say Brock Purdy is 12-1 and/or say he hasn't lost a regular season game. He's done well even in the postseason. IMO, saying the only game the Niners lost was the one he didn't play in for the most part is worse. Yeah it would've been a full loss had he completed the game at Lincoln Financial Field, but the fact that he got hit to the point where he couldn't continue adds insult to injury. Although his backup got hurt to prompt the following, hats off for trying to do what he could. Eventually he'll lose a game that he's involved in throughout its entirety, it feels like the media is overrating the guy. Which is fair, but San Francisco is a very complete team
-
Well, one of them will lose before Christmas. At least one of those teams, probably both. Philadelphia, who has a date at Arrowhead, hosts San Francisco this season. I don't think it's a big deal in terms of their fans. You're not wrong, but New England & Pittsburgh both have those very same brand of fans. It's been the norm forever. As far as the GOAT coach thing...pretty much what was said about Tom vs Peyton might be the case with Bill vs Andy. Of course, Tom sorta distanced himself. Andy may not have won a chip as a head coach until Patrick showed up, but unlike Bill, he's been competitive. He was in Philadelphia, and when he got to Kansas City, he turned that team around immediately. The success was there; no 5-11 or 0-2 starts needed. Colin and Jason from the Herd brought this up over the past year: if the rules now had been in place 20 years prior, we might not be talking about the current GOAT coach being just that. Championship count? Who knows, but I imagine it would've been different

The thing I'll say about Cleveland is that the Browns will be coming off of a bye. This Cleveland team beat the crap out of the Bengals, who have treated the Chiefs like they're just another football team. The Chiefs, speaking of Kansas City, are the only AFC team that has no issue with the Niners. Cleveland on most days would crumble to San Francisco, but the 49ers will be emotional before travelling for a 10 AM game West to East. Finally, the Eagles turned the 49ers into a bunch of people playing a football game at Lincoln Financial, where Brock lasted as long as A-Rod as a Jet. In fact, they put SF in a position where they ran out of quarterbacks. So there are 2-3 teams that can beat the NFC West champs, but will they? Only God knows, I suppose
