  1. True, however if I went to work and told my boss to fuck off I could be fired. Someone else could have been fired for physically assaulting the same boss, and it is not really considered important to point out that the two aren't equivalent and it is even understandable that neither should be tolerated at work. I think we should be sure that Hollywood is really changing first.
  2. I kind of want there to be a movie starring James Franco doing his Brooklyn accent, with Robert Pattinson doing his Queens accent.
  3. Okay, while Buzzfeed decided to pick on someone like Armie Hammer for privilege The Daily Beast pointed out the privilege displayed by all the chances given Bryan Singer. https://www.thedailybeast.com/bryan-singer-the-epitome-of-hollywoods-white-male-privilege-problem
  4. I thoughtRyan Reynolds was the favourite example of chance aft chance thrown at a white male in Hollywood. Is he too well liked or his background too humble to use or did Deadpool just reset everything? Either way I'm kind of glad he wasn't picked on even though that sucks for Armie, because these decisions are not made by either of these men and they shouldn't be blamed for being on the right side of a rigged system. The men running it should.
  5. I thought the story was that Plummer was the original choice of the director.
  6. You're right! Unfortunately, you know that the producers are only thinking of how to get Jennifer Lawrence/Emma Stone/Margot Robbie to star.
  7. I suppose it was only a matter of time. ... https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscar-winner-judy-holliday-who-fought-sexual-harassment-get-biopic-treatment-1062207 I loved Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday and was unaware of her being blacklisted. For the life of me I can't think of an actress I'd want to play her.
  8. I'm now trying to imagine Emma Stone as Ree Dolly and I'm just getting an image in my mind when Mia in La La Land was auditioning for Dangerous Minds.
  9. Sounds like Disney wants more critical articles and investigative reporting done about them.
  10. It's so much more than the others I'm not sure how that's possible.
  11. I'm interested in what exactly the tone is because the trailer just makes this movie look unsettling but Nicole Kidman has said in interviews whIle working with Yorgos Lanthimos he would say to her along the lines of "lighten up, this is a comedy". You didn't get a black comedy feel from it though?
  12. More on the different forms of abuse doled out by Harvey Weinstein. https://jezebel.com/harvey-weinsteins-abuse-took-many-forms-as-i-learned-f-1820013691/amp
  13. I figured that it was in trouble because the trailer I saw didn't seem to be advertising the film I heard Damon and Clooney talking about at TIFF.
  14. While it's nota bad article about the history of artist getting away with crappy behavior I can't quite reconcile HW being added to the list of men there, largely because of an indie wire article I recently read titled It's Time to Shatter the Harvey Myth: Weinstein was Shitty at his Job; http://www.indiewire.com/2017/10/harvey-weinstein-producer-miramax-1201888349/
  15. I've seen footage of Judy Garland before she died and to be honest I thought she was decades older then her actual age at the time. I have no problem with some older playing her, and these things usually drive me nuts.
  16. I thought this was an interesting piece about why it is hard for women to come forward. https://www.thecut.com/2017/10/im-a-coward.html?utm_campaign=thecut&utm_source=tw&utm_medium=s1 There is a reference in there to the movie 9 to 5. I know that it was a joke when Dolly Parton said how about a remake, but seriously, it's feeling pretty relevant now.
  17. Gees, your talking about age old double standards. How come in the movie Seven Spacey kills a hooker and not the client in place of lust?
  18. I guess it depends on who was sharing this gossip at the time. Did they say "So-and-so fucked for a role" or did they say "Weinstein doesn't give you a role unless you fuck him"? I've seen both statements on the Internet but guess which one I've seen used more. I have to say I like Clooney's statement more then most. If he has any revisionist history in his retelling of the past (and really, how could we ever tell?) he doesn't pretend he heard nothing and he does explain why they overlooked bad behavior in the past, and by that I mean his bully reputation. I wonder if a lot of men who previously laughed at Harvey's bullying are starting to realize how terrifying he must have been to a lot of women.
  19. In other news about the above scandal, this is going to make a lot of people look really bad. I know I might never look at Matt Damon the same again. I've always side eyed Russell Crowe. https://www.thewrap.com/media-enablers-harvey-weinstein-new-york-times/ Edited; looks like damage control is in progress. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/oct/08/democrats-cut-ties-with-harvey-weinstein-as-fresh-allegations-emerge
  20. Wow, remember when pay disparity was suppose to be the scandal in Hollywood?
  21. The talk about Jake Gyllenhaal is making me think of his costar Tatiana Maslany, and why the hell she doesn't have a bunch of stuff listed on IMDB for after Stronger.
  22. Yeah they could have done this at any time. Reality cooking competitions have been big for a while. I wonder if the battle for the title of Chef between the films Chef and Burnt and then the box office bombing of Burnt (I don't know how Chef did) scares people away from the concept.
  23. Not if they are going for the campy tone of the 2000 remake but I was pretty sold by her as a spy at the end of American Ultra.
