  1. I didn't realize that talking about a deceased family member was taboo 😞 I better apologize to my friends for mentioning my mother (who died almost two years ago) and my father (who died four months ago) in casual conversation IF it was appropriate or relevant. Her father was over 80 years old. I realize that losing a parent is difficult but they had a life - and her father apparently had enough money, healthcare, time to say good-bye and plan. A friend of mine was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The doctor told him that he has six to eight months at the outside three years to live. He has four kids. He is worried about being fired due to so many trips to the doctor/hospital, he is worried about his four children and wife, he is worried about his family losing their home when he dies. MM, tell me again how difficult it is for you??
  2. Sorry, Bannana. That was my opinion/view if you'd like not MM's.
  3. Just a few things I noticed on the final show of the season: *If you look at the billboard that MM referenced, on the left side it bullet points the number of homeless people in New York not the blackout. *When MM was talking about the blackout, I thought she was saying "Hysterical blackout" (was it funny?) it took me a while to realize that she meant "historic" *Although I probably won't vote for DeBlassio, I thought he acquitted himself pretty decently. *MM's "gotcha" question/statement went NO WHERE. Plus DeBlassio politely put her in her place! *I thought the orgasm "discussion" was dumb. *To promote a book, shouldn't the author know the title? *It can't be said enough, when MM does not participate on a topic, it is much more coherent and interesting. *When Ana was talking about going on safari for her honeymoon, MM kept trying to interject how she went to Montana. No one paid attention to her. 🙂 Hee! Hoping to see Ana, Joy, and Sunny in September!! (Maybe MM and Whoopie will be gone - a girl can dream can't she?)
  4. I had forgotten that MM had wanted to fire the make-up artist just because she (make-up artist) liked a post that was critical of MM. What Karen does on her off-time is her business isn't it? It seems that for MM all time is HER time. I remember years ago I had some work friends over for dinner. The following week my boss called me into her office. Apparently, some other co-workers went to her to complain that I had not invited them to my house for dinner! Seriously, I kind of got in trouble for having fun during personal time at my own home! Reminds me of somebody - I wonder who?
  5. I really don't know how I feel about her revealing her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. 😕 What I found curious was her claim that women who have had miscarriages have been made to feel ashamed/guilty about it. Several of my friends have had miscarriages and I can't think of anyone who was shamed about it. Some were further along and the pain that they suffered I can't ever understand. A few had them in the first few weeks and were surprised and a bit sad but did not carry on as MM did. Also for all of them it was just a private matter. They would share with others who had suffered the same experience. When one of my friends at work had one, other women in the office shared their own pain with her (privately) and how they coped. That made her feel not so alone. Plus - it means that she was pregnant when the panel discussed women's health care, job equality, children separated for their parents, education, sexual harassment. So even being pregnant, she could not empathize with "regular" women. I hate to say it but MM takes things that happen in her life/to her to a dramatic extreme. Nothing is as awful as it was for her, nothing is as hurtful as it was to her, nothing is as sad as it was to her, nothing is as bad as it was to her, no one suffered as much as her. If she really is suffering about this - I feel bad for her. BUT I think that this extreme reaction is just dramatic effect.
  6. ETA: Just noticed I added a word! I meant to say that "K. Harris was not attacking J. Biden." OOPS! I really need to reread before posting!
  7. I don't think that K. Harris was not attacking J. Biden. She asked about something he did as a senator - it was not name calling, making fun, bullying - it was a question about what he did and what does he think about his decision now.
  8. Just a few thoughts about today's show - Although others have mentioned this, I'll be honest I barely noticed until today: Sunny is realllly (!) not even glancing at MM. I'm sorry, this is so petty of me but I thought it was funny. MM coming out and saying that Whoopie's thought about evangelicals was political - What? Whoopie clearly stating that it was a thought in HER head, it was HER question not a _state your partisan label here_ view. MM continuing trying to say it was political. Whoopie's point to me was clear. Evangelicals seemed to have something about the football players kneeling, gay marriage, transgender, illegal immigrants, justifying the orange guy's complete lack of Christian values as having values of any kind. Why aren't they vocal about the total disregard for the poor, the weak, the ones' without a voice (the children in the camps, the families separated, children being trafficked) when that is who JESUS says/said we should protect, help, defend. MM saying her in-laws are evangelicals and are nice people. Whoopie and Joy saying that they (her in-laws) are not prominent leaders/talking heads with a platform. MM appeared to be left speechless. Whoopie seeming to lay into Sunny about losing. Sunny's point being that losing at things that are important to you can make you stronger. Whoopie's examples of Sunny losing were silly games (well, maybe not Jeopardy, 😑 I would take that seriously too!). MM's belt popped off! Hee, hee, hee! Totally off topic: I wonder if tomorrow they will talk about Acosta's press conference and how he spoke in Spanish? Since hearing a different language is apparently offensive to someone's ears.
  9. How did I miss this tread devoted to JOY! I absolutely LOVE her!! Even when I disagree with her, I still love her!! When she was fired fro the show back in the day, I stopped watching. I only began again because of her. It is disgraceful that MM is so angry, disrespectful, dismissive, mumbles under her breath about her, and calls her names! If MM had a real job she would have been transferred/demoted to another department or fired by now. I love Joy's quick wit/responses especially when what she says goes over the twit's head.
  10. MM really doesn't listen to anyone does she? Julian C. said that to decriminalize but people entering illegally would still be processed through the laws on the books, which could lead to deportation. And how does MM respond "OPEN BORDERS!!!" The only part she heard was when he said that "right-wing" people. *Spanglish is not about an accent when speaking English. It's using both languages within the same sentence when speaking or even making an English word sound like a Spanish word or vice a versa. Example: Esperame and then we can go. Estabamos hablando when he came. That's what we call Spanglish where I'm from (California). ETA: I meant an accent when speaking Spanish.
  11. I just couldn't believe what came out of MM's mouth regarding the children(!) who are being held in detention camps. They have no beds, aren't allowed the simple dignity of being clean (murderers in prison get more), have to care for each other because there aren't any adults to do it, can't speak the language, are separated from their families, don't know when they will be moved, are at risk of abuse, no answers to any of their questions. That's not torture?? I think it is - you don't know where you will be, you don't know what is allowed, you don't know who will be kind or not ( a technique used in interrogations), you don't know if your friend will be there tomorrow, constantly on edge about your future. I work with children and all I can see are the faces of my students. What would I do to help them? I see the faces of my nieces and nephews - how could I get them back? And yes, I see myself in their eyes. It sickens me that this entitled, rich white woman can't see beyond the color of her skin, the viewpoint of her party, the defense of the indefensible. It seems to me that she refuses to see them as they really are - small human beings without any power. I just can't with her anymore. Then, then to bring her father into it!! It's not the same thing!! He was an adult, he was in a war.
  12. Oh, my goodness! MM - get over yourself!! When she began talking about telling her "honest" opinion about the rape accusation. How her opinion was unpopular but she was not going to lie because she had been lied to her whole life and as a daughter of a politician she had heard lies. She knew that the audience would hate her opinion! She went on with this until she basically said that an investigation should be opened and she didn't know how she felt about this accusation. WHAT?? She glanced at the audience waiting for a reaction - NO AUDIENCE REACTION! MM must have been so disappointed! I agree with others that Pete B. meant that he was there as mayor not a presidential candidate. OT: I really thought that they were going to talk about how the orange guy's administration is arguing against children receiving soap, showers, and toothpaste.
  13. Yes - I meant to add that Joy's question was not confrontational nor angry nor LOUD. It was a follow up question to MM's claim that orange guy's supporters dislike/hate what the orange guy dislikes/hate. Her question was just a calm - What does the orange guy hate? THEN MM went off the rails! Her reaction was just so over the top to what Joy asked. And I think the answer MM was trying not to face was exactly what you said, Tinkerbell.
  14. I am not sure how I feel about today's show. I thought Howie Mandell was a good distraction and funny too. I wondered why that boy's acceptance from Harvard was newsworthy. It happens. Plus since it is consistent to what they have done in the past plus it is a private university. If this was just a one off, then yes talk about how they are discriminating against a gun-toting, somewhat racists person, but it's not. So - move on. I was really surprised by MM's reaction to Joy. MM said that it's not that the orange guy's supporters necessarily like him. They dislike/hate the same things that the orange guy does.
  15. The other day MM made a very convoluted point and the audience clapped for her. She said in her screechy voice something like - Oh people are clapping for me! That's the first time it's happened. (Not true - my opinion) The audience never claps for me, that's a nice change - or something like that. She actually has said similar things in the past. Today she actually said something that made sense and in a reasonable tone, the audience clapped for her. Why didn't she thank them? (Being sarcastic)
  16. I liked that they actually stayed on topic and had time to articulate their ideas/opinions without someone hijacking the conversation and changing the subject. You're right it was refreshing because they were talking about what was going on, not a democrat vs. republican thing. It was a really hot topics not "Let's talk about how great I am to the LGBT community and my FATHER and I'm the only voice of the republican party and I'm a conservative and I shoot guns and I'm a badass".
  17. This is my girl: A teacher with almost 30 years in education. Her body is pear-shaped but pretty well-endowed (father's side of the family). Usually wears comfortable clothes that let her sit on the rug cross-legged with her 24 second graders. (The rug that is sat upon is not the cleanest thing!) Also clothes can be worn for P.E. to do warm-up exercises, skill teaching (like throwing, hopping, skipping, etc.) and cool down. It should be easy to wear, not need ironing, and always comfortable to wear. Sometimes has to do presentations for parents and/or colleagues in the cafeteria. An evening out: professionally - a PTA dinner, a retirement dinner, a union dinner; personally - a night out at the movies, dinner with friends, a formal dinner like a wedding. NO HEELS!! Don't they know how bad they are for your feet and leg muscles?
  18. I really enjoyed the show today!!! It was interesting to hear everyone finish what they wanted to say. And even though I didn't agree with Tara about guns. She made a good point about restraining orders for guns. Where a gun is taken away for a short period (like time-out for kinders). I agree with Sunny about the Church. A few priests are friends of mine and they approach the faith with openness to all, support, love, and try very hard not to be judgmental (as we all must try to do). Like she did, I struggled with my faith when the child abuse came out. It was a good show even thought I did miss Joy.
  19. Wow! MM is really angry with someone! As Whoopie was talking about people refusing to appear before Congress who have received subpoenas, MM brought up collusion - I liked how Whoopie said that she was talking about that, she was talking about the people refusing to appear and how they were "buddies" of the orange guy. MM didn't seem to like that and mumbled on about someone saying it was collusion (?) - not quite sure what she meant. Joy's asking MM if MM was going to vote Democrat because she seems so concerned about "mistakes" that (in MM's opinion) they are making. That was priceless 🙂 I enjoyed how Joy, during Housewives discussion, said something "da, da, da, da,da" in place of words 🙂
  20. I couldn't believe she said it neither! Sunny never said that the Church makes a distinction depending on your job (being a lawyer). Sunny said "but I'm also a lawyer and need to separate from church and state" - or words to that effect. I also liked that someone (Sunny?) said that the Church is across the board pro-life: against the death penalty, gun control, protecting the less fortunate (I added the last one!). I noticed that MM didn't say anything after that. I think that MM is anti-abortion not pro-life, if she was pro-life there are many organizations/causes that promote life - gun control, helping the poor, working with/for children's causes, funding for orphan diseases, etc. I like Craig Freguson (sp?). I think I'm going to get his book 🙂
  21. I had a very long work day today so I just saw today's episode. The sad thing about what MM said is that there is nothing wrong about her viewpoint. She is entitled to her opinion and how she feels about abortion BUT the mistake she makes is screeching about it, criticizing others view about it being a personal choice, being intolerant of others views about it, calling it murder (which implies the person who does it is a murderer), comparing the science behind climate change (almost 100% of scientists concur it does exist and we are mostly responsible for it) and beginning of life (no real consensus there because individuals have their own feelings about it), and not listening to how others view it (a way to control women and their bodies). I'll be honest personally I think abortion is wrong (but there can be circumstances where it is necessary) BUT that is my choice and my view. Just because I think that does not make me better, it's just how I feel about it. Again MY CHOICE, MY OPINION. However, I've said it before - It is NOT my place to tell others what to do in that experience/situation/dilemma. MM (to me) wants to make everyone bend/agree/force to her view/opinion. I like how Whoopie put it - It's great that you feel that way but you can't tell me/others how to feel about it. The rest of the show - I enjoyed it very much. But the big elephant in the room was her husband's tweets and FIL investigation.
  22. His father did say that, but what was offensive to me was that MM used the word "Despite", as if his "nature" was something to overcome. For example, "Despite the student's lack of support at home, he succeeded in school."
  23. I found what MM said about the shooting victim a little offensive. She said something like "Despite his Hispanic 'ties' (I know she didn't say heritage - but not sure if she said 'ties') he and his family are American." What?? So if your family has a different culture or family roots you aren't really American? So if I did something she viewed as patriotic/heroic/"American values" it would be despite my background/culture/whatever?? And of course she brought it back to herself with the flag remark. 😞
  24. Regarding tacos, tostadas: Tacos can have a hard shell or a soft one. Can be filled with chicken, beef, pork (or for my vegetarian niece - tofu or meat substitute 🙂 ). If it is rolled it is a taquito. A tostado is a flat, fried corn tortilla with a lot of stuff on top - what you'd like is at your discretion. *Don't mean to be critical but the plural is tamales, the singular is tamal.
  25. I thought the same thing!! Sunny's family is from Puerto Rico and Anna from Nicaragua. Maybe I'm making a wrong assumption, but were they picked to cook with Sanchez because they are latinas? I thought it would have been interesting to make Abby and MM do the cooking with him. I like Rebel Wilson 🙂 She makes me smile. They are more or less the same size physically but the difference between her and MM seemed striking to me - attitude, clothes, style.
