  1. FWIW, DeAngelo now says he doesn't regret it but wouldn't go back. And Gary blames the editing. I don't blame him for being pissed in the moment, especially since he asked if they wanted to work together and was flatly rejected, and then the other three weren't even trying to hide it after, what, a minute?
  2. I really love how all the Bachelor guys suck but the women keep racking up Mirrorballs. Well, outside of Trista. Kelly singing "Dilemma" was my favorite part of the episode. Happy for Artem, especially after last season. What a year for him. At least somebody had a good 2020.
  3. AJ picked the wrong time to eff up a routine. I'm sad he never got to do a paso -- I think that could've actually been a real breakout dance for him. So Johnny is the first person to survive two bottom twos this season, and he had a perfect score this time. The votes clearly aren't there for him. Nev is fine, but he's just sort of there for me now. There's nothing exciting about his routines anymore.
  4. I LOL'd when it became clear the judges got the memo to be completely over Monica tonight and stop protecting her. Ironically, that was one of her better dances, but it was also a jazz, so that's not saying much. Skai still does nothing for me, but tonight had to be Redemption 2.0.
  5. They had signs for the dance-offs, not this elimination format. Plus, it's easier for them to make/organize signs for dance-offs since they know what the pairings are in advance. They can't do it for eliminations since the judges don't know the bottom two in advance, and it would also take them forever to sift through a bunch of paddles when Tyra is rushing them to make a decision so she can talk about what an awesome time she had on '80s Night. We've already seen them mess up with their scores sometimes. Peta apparently pulled her neck, so that's why she looked "mad." ETA: Dropped word because grammar matters.
  6. Yeah, that's nothing new. Tom and Erin used to have to say it too; they were just more natural as hosts and not solemn like Tyra. When Monica got those insane 9s, I texted my friend, "They're gonna announce her safe first." It was so obvious what they were doing with the scores.
  7. It was originally Oct. 3 -- they announced that ages ago. But they moved it to Dec. 9 (a Wednesday!) since the season runs until Oct. 28.
  8. I think it's the "[Sighs]" here that kills me the most. She also talks about making Kaysar move to Minnesota. Gold Derby: Your conversations with David, in particular, were very frustrating to watch, and I imagine they were frustrating for you to have because he gives you nothing and he’s clearly unfamiliar with the game, so what was going through your head when you were talking to him while also trying to campaign? Janelle: [Laughs] When I was talking to David, I was thinking to myself, “How did he make it on this season?” He is learning how to play “Big Brother” on an all-stars cast. Like, why is he even here? Why am I having to campaign to this man who has literally never spent more than two weeks in the house?! It was frustrating for me. As someone who’s so veteran, it was very frustrating to play “Big Brother” with him. Gold Derby: It was also weird because he acted like he knew more than you did, and you’ve played more seasons than he has weeks in the house. Janelle: [Laughs] Yeah, he’s just — I don’t think I’ve ever met someone worse at the game than David. Honestly. In all of my seasons, I’ve never met someone as green as that, and it was just mind-boggling. [Sighs] It was difficult. It was difficult for me to have the conversation as I’m sure it was extremely difficult to watch it. Gold Derby: If it makes you feel any better, all of his conversations with everyone are like that, so it’s not just you. Janelle: Oh, they are? Good! [Laughs] I mean, yeah, he’s just not good at the game. He needs to go.
  9. Yes, I know. I'm not saying it's a surprise; everyone's been waiting for her to reopen her replies. This is also not a good idea for her. She should stay off social media.
  10. Oh, I know! I've read her interviews too. She's also admitted she got brainwashed by the shit-talking.
  11. I hope NicolA is watching this entire conversation.
  12. Ratcole totally planned it and I'm dying that that was the best thing she could come up with. She really thought she was doing something there.
  13. They definitely are not actually tweeting themselves so they won't see replies or likes or retweets. They probably get to compose their tweets in like a Notes app, and then an intern tweets it for them from their accounts.
  14. If these dumbasses are gonna bash Janelle 24/7, can we at least get a permanent Jaysar cam? I wish Day hadn't found NicoleA the other night and she would've imploded and self-evicted. Has anyone had such a drastic fall from fan fave (admittedly that was only because she was the least offensive person in that cast) to absolutely reviled so suddenly? Not to psychoanalyze her, but she would've been better off going back to her pre-K job after last season and detaching from all of this. This "podcast host" thing has cocooned her in this superficial, needy world, and she doesn't have the clarity or confidence to smell the/her own bullshit.
  15. As far as I know, the only submitted exit interview questions are for the jurors and those are via email. The pre-jury boot interviews aren't via email so I don't think that means anything either way with Keesha, especially since Janelle said the first couple of evictees don't go home until mid-September. I think the show doesn't know when/if to do a battle back yet (also because the season is shorter), and yes, if Jaysar are out in the first four, I expect one.
  16. Yeah, it was condescending, but it wasn't that bad. The best part is that Memphis' reason for nominating him is literally the theme of the season: they all have "something to prove," and David said in his intro package that he wants to prove he can play and not get evicted first. Also, it'll never happen, but if there's no pre-jury battle back, I want Julie to smack NicolA upside the head with her cards (on a 6-foot pole, of course) a la Marcellas on Thursday, but I'll settle for her telling her to her face that Jaysar were on her side and she's an idiot.
  17. Oh, man, that Johnny Mac video took me back!!! I, too, don't think he'll ever return, not because he doesn't want to, but I feel like TPTB never really liked him in the way they do some others (we know who). I follow him on social media and he went to a few conventions for a few years and appeared on some podcasts, but yeah, for the most part he went back to being a dentist. I just checked and he hasn't tweeted or posted on IG in more than a year.
  18. I haven't read the book, but Hope was murdered and Laurie finds Jacob's shirt with a red stain on it, so she's convinced he killed Ben and Hope. She crashes the car and Jacob dies but she survives. I think they wanted to make things more ambiguous (on top of keeping book readers on their toes), but they could've done that by still killing Hope while having Jacob survive.
  19. I was listening to The Ringer's TV Concierge podcast a few weeks ago, and Bill Simmons said his teenage daughter thought this was the greatest show ever and he could see why because the show is designed for a ninth grader's IQ, which is completely accurate. My God, what an expensive piece of generic mediocrity. It's funny because I'm on another message board and a bunch of users there thought this was great and gripping, and I'm like, "Really?" If it weren't for the mystery element (and well, Evans' beard), I doubt most people would've been as invested or continued to watch. The pacing was mishandled, the cinematography was way too dark, the writing was awful. Evans is not a good enough actor to elevate it like Jones, Simmons and Dockery were able to as the lead. The changes from the book's ending also felt like they were done only to surprise people who've read the book.
  20. Caught up on my friend's account and the whole problem with this show is that the writing is just not great. It tries so hard -- and you can see and feel it trying and the actors try -- but it never fully comes together. But it's a watchable show so I can see why the general public has responded better than the critics. Aniston and Crudup are very good. Witherspoon and Carell are not. Honestly, Witherspoon is miscast in this (I know she basically cast herself since she and Aniston developed the project for themselves, but the part should've been better crafted for her). This episode drove me crazy because it's April in the show's world and they went to cover the California wildfires. California wildfire season is in the fall. And then Nestor Carbonell said "the Woolsey Fire in fall 2018." Uh, if you're supposed to be five months removed from it, you'd just say "last fall."
  21. I think the only way Kel would've won is if it were still a two-night finale. He's one of those contestants that benefits from a longer voting window. He can't match live Bachelor Nation. The judges will never admit they were wrong to keep Ally over James, but I hope next season they put a limit on how many times you can save a person when they're in the bottom two. Or something that acknowledges they are considering the fan votes when they make their decision.
  22. She didn't know the summer solstice. Unclear if she also doesn't know DST.
  23. "I know what a noun is, I swear." Proceeds to call him tall. Bless. Meanwhile, Nicole says she gave Holly a pity vote, basically, because she had a feeling Jackson would win: https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/big-brother-21-nicole-anthony-exit-interview/
