  1. Sony owns all of the Columbia movies. I recently got the Columbia 4k collection volume 1. (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Dr. Strangelove, Lawrence of Arabia, Gandhi, A League of Their Own, and Jerry Maguire). And that's just a sampling of the library that anyone buying Sony would acquire.
  2. I doubt that Disney would buy it. (There's a point where you're competing with yourself). However, they would almost certainly use the opportunity to buy back the rights to Spider-Man.
  3. I have two questions about what the government 'owns' in this show. The current shield is clearly different from the one the government made for Steve in WWII, and I'm not certain the government would have a claim on it. So did Sam donate it to the Smithsonian or loan it to the Smithsonian? Because I think it's still his if he was simply loaned it to the museum. Second, how was Redwing government property? His flight suit from Winter Soldier was owned by the government, but would they own a suit that Stark built based on the original?
  4. I realized during Wandavision that calling it The Blip makes sense for the people that disappeared for five years, because from their POV they blinked and the world changed. My thought is that the half that had to deal with life during the five years is more likely to hate the name since it makes light of their experience.
  5. Walker reminds me of a quote I've heard from a historian talking about LBJ that I really like: It will be interesting to see what the power given to Walker reveals about him. I'm also starting to think the Flag Smashers are a red herring as the villain. So far I don't think they've killed anyone. And they may have been willing to kill in the fight scene in this episode, but you could make the argument that it was in self-defense. Finally, I know this show was supposed to come out first, but I'm really glad that Wandavision aired first. All of the reviews for this show would have been about how it was just the TV version of an MCU movie if Wandavision hadn't shown that Marvel was willing to do different things before it aired. (And is their an agreed upon acronym for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier yet? Great title, but a pain to type out multiple times).
  6. I have to wonder how long the fake Cap will be around since the trailers showed Sam practicing with the shield. (This is assuming those scenes actually appear in the show). I'm assuming he'll be out of the picture by the end of episode 3.
  7. I'm glad those are on Disney Plus, but it's a shame they don't have the others. (Although I have to wonder if 'All Hail the King' will be available before Shang-Chi is released). Oh well, I still have my Blu-Rays.
  8. I was wondering, does anyone know if the Phase One Marvel One Shots are available on Disney Plus? Or do you need to have the Blu-Ray to watch them? I always thought they were great extras that showed what happened after the movies. (And in at least one case fixed a bad moment in an earlier movie).
  9. I have to wonder if they purposely made him look bad in the mask as a sign that he isn't a good fit for the role. And I have to wonder if he'll be a villain, just incompetent, or just a bad fit but not a horrible person. And I don't know why I bother to read the AV Club reviews for highly serialized shows. They always make a comment criticizing the fact that it's serialized (even if they then admit it's necessary for the story):
  10. I have to admit I stopped reading DC after New 52 since they got rid of everything I liked. (DC was great in the 90's, why did they try to erase everything that happened in that decade)! That decision was good for my wallet, but based on your post I might have to check out some DC books.
  11. Only got the first few issues, but they seemed to be doing a good job of sharing the spotlight. It features the now married Rogue and Gambit, Betsy Braddock in her original body, Jubilee, and Apocalypse (this makes sense if you read Hickman's amazing House of X/Powers of X first), and Rictor joins after a few issues. Loved the cast, was a little meh on the book, but that was just me. Back on topic. I actually think they could make very good movies out of Hickman's current run, but it would have to be several movies in as his run is extremely dependent on the idea of the mutants breaking the status quo in the Marvel universe. The MCU would have to create that status quo for this story to work.
  12. She's actually back to normal now and appearing in the Excalibur book. (A book I wish I liked more since it has some of my favorite X-Men. It's not bad, but it wasn't for me).
  13. Magneto is Jewish survivor of the Holocaust. I think there would definitely be criticisms to changing that aspect of the character.
  14. Yep, all of the comics characters that have an origin that can't be divorced from WWII spent time being frozen (Cap and Bucky), age slowly (Namor), got de-aged (Magneto), etc to explain why they're still around. Others like Reed Richards that had time in WWII as part of their backstory; that part of their bio just got forgotten or changed to vague references to time in the military. Not sure what the best route would be for an MCU Magneto.
  15. In a lot of procedurals you can tell who the killer is because only one suspect is a well known actor. So, perhaps Emma Caulfield was hired in part to create doubt about Kathryn Hahn being the villain.
  16. Her going to get training from Dr Strange would make a lot of sense. Part of Wanda's problem is that she has all this magical power without the training a normal person (a normal person in the MCU at least) needs to have, so she isn't good at controlling it. Also, it would have a definitive conclusion to this story, and lead into her involvement in the next Dr Strange movie. Regarding the twins vs the new Vision. Wanda made Vision out of thin air, but was actually pregnant with the twins. Could that make them more 'real' than he is?
  17. We are seeing the town post snap, so it's possible that it was in better shape before Thanos messed everything up. (remember the part of San Francisco with the trash piled up in Endgame).
  18. Hammer was an old man in the comics, so I like to think that that we meet Justin Hammer Jr in the movie and his much more capable father will make an appearance at some point.
  19. I'm still not convinced that Agatha is the villain, and I have to wonder if her theme song being an homage to The Munsters is a hint that things aren't as they appear. After all the central joke to that show is that these people that appeared to be monsters were actually very nice.
  20. That makes sense, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were basically made at the same time and it was (IMO) the success of Iron Man compared to The Incredible Hulk that caused Iron Man to be the template for the MCU. However, I actually think The Incredible Hulk is better than people give it credit for. Not a great movie, but not horrible either.
  21. I'm with the people who assume Darcy keeps in contact with Jane, Erik, and Thor and either heard about the events at the end of IW directly from Thor or from one of the other two. (We don't know how amicable the breakup between Jane and Thor was, but it makes sense that his friends would have been checking in on him during the five years).
  22. I've been thinking about how someone like Hayward became the director of SWORD and I have to wonder how much Hayward owes his position to process of elimination. He was probably perfectly fine in his pre-snap position. Then roughly half his peers and superiors vanished, others probably left indirectly due to the snap (died in accidents caused by the snap, quit due to depression, etc), than there were the normal deaths and retirements that took place in the last five years. All of which allowed him to rise to the level of his incompetence. His comment about people that disappeared not knowing what the survivors went through made me realize that Spider-Man Far from Home was from the point of view of people that disappeared. Even the name of the event from the movie, The Blip, is from their point of view. People who suffered for those five years probably HATE that term. They had to deal with the loss of friends and family while the world was falling apart around them; then said friends and family come back and act like those five years didn't matter. (From the point of view of people like Hayward).
  23. I'm really thinking that Tony had Vision's body placed in a secure location. (I'm thinking Damage Control would have control of the body since Stark Industries had some degree of oversight there). Then Sword took advantage of Tony's death and the chaos from the people returning to obtain his body. So they probably only had it for two weeks or less before Wanda showed up.
  24. I'm wondering if the Vision's amnesia is due to limits on Wanda's powers. It makes sense from what we're seeing that she could fix his body. (To some degree at least). However, his brain was damaged when the mind stone was pulled out of his head. I'm guessing that restoring memories erased by the trauma is impossible for her. I'm also wondering about the odds that Hayward happened to send Monica to Westview. My guess is that he knew (at least roughly) where Wanda was and used Agent Woo's request for a drone as an excuse to send Monica there. I've been wondering about that since the last episode. Sword saw the 'first' episode, so it's almost as if the story didn't start until they were monitoring the broadcast. What was happening before that?
  25. Regarding Luke being the Jedi to train Grogu, I can be counted in the group that liked the decision. Partly due to the fact that it was nice to see Luke in his prime. Also I think it makes sense that Luke would train Grogu while Ahsoka wouldn't. Ahsoka saw Anakin become Vader due to his attachments. However, Luke saw Vader return to being Anakin due to those attachments.
