  1. It was worse than just CBS. Just over a decade ago with a couple of hundred episodes on tap syndicators that held NCIS rights replaced Memorial Day and Veterans Day holiday movie marathons and replaced them with NCIS reruns as if it was the same honoring the veterans ideal since the N stands for Navy, even if they are not in the Navy.
  2. How the wife got the drop on a veteran of prison fights, I can only ask what was in her background?
  3. Of the two I am going with the EXPO's of Trigger Point with only the first season on Peacock over the NCIS of the Scottish Police. With one episode of the first season left those cliffhangers want me to binge but the tension of bomb disposal, while not at the best of Danger UXB levels makes me want to stop and decompress. Meanwhile I have put aside the RAF story of Vigil's second series after doing a weekly watch on the Royal Navy first season..
  4. Going back and remembering the young Janey origin story was young Vanessa in the navy instead of the USAF they have set up a story where the actress has to deal on screen with the trauma of her mother trading up and dropping Vanessa off with her father and ghosting her. Vanessa Lachey must have asked for this story line so which way does she want to go with the story?
  5. As the defense that is where we are dropping charges direct from the prosecutor comes in. The detainee can claim that he is not being held he has just not yet been processed out of the jail while giving his wife the good news. We have decades with New York County Supreme Court judges I think it could go either way.
  6. All I got is that Lady Mariko was signaling that she would lead a fight meanwhile the palace guard had to pretend that we are just police here there is no battle.
  7. I am waiting for the jail tape to be excluded by the next judge becasue the DA's office told the husband that charges would be dropped
  8. The victim spent 12 years in prison from a bad ID and here Shaw and Riley flirted with Fontana level moving the needle with the six pack photos when Wu said nothing about a bald guy. All they had was he bought a jacket and that went to trial.
  9. I was thinking more like its been 15 years, after J. Edgar Hoover we don't let top cops stay in place forever anymore.
  10. Some folks hit the range at basic training and can't even zero their sights, others are just naturals at that particular skill. I don't know if the real NIS/NCIS ever had a great reputation. Since they called back remember the new TSA airport security thought Gibbs and DiNozzo had counterfeit never heard of them badges. Unlike the show with Secret Service, FBI, CIA and ATF agents transferring in it is portrayed like the US Postal Inspectors as the last resort federal agency if the big three letter agencies turned you down. Many local and state agencies are having recruit shortages I don't see why other than FBI federal law enforcement wouldn't also have problems. Of course going back to the beginning having a Secret Service agent say all is good, what do you navy cops know. What do they the NCIS TV Secret Service know, that two cars can crash their perimeter to potentially suicide bomb Air Force One on the roll without their CAT team taking those cars out, really. You can only hope the Air Force was just moving the plane without the President on board. It was more my least favorite with all sorts of high ranking folk turning up in Los Angeles the thought that you have a director and the next level is to just point at a field agent and place him in charge of the entire agency instead of the layers of bureaucracy that are over him stepping in.
  11. I can't be the only one spending the law portion waiting to find out which Manhattan SVU team screwed up.
  12. JAG, besides Hawai'i which is still new and has not dropped an original cast member yet, is the only show I did not drop off from to pop in and out to catch the occasional episodes later.
  13. HPD Detective Dalia Reed? She made a third appearance in the second season having moved on from trying to rekindle things with Ernie in her previous episodes. Who was then jealous of her having a relationship.
  14. Upon further review how can have left out Lt Col Mann, another not quite next ex Mrs Gibbs of US Army CID.
  15. There can be only one but for a secondary federal agent how about CGIS Special Agent Borin. A second CGIS Agent Pike in Hawai'i is moving up the ranks but they may be over using him. In those pandemic years Pride's little brother Jimmy was part of the reason I came back for the end.
  16. I am coming back to this because I was listening to a history of the Pacific War. The commander of the first B-29 to take off from a Pacific island, Saipan to attack Japan in November 1944 was Robert K. Morgan who flew the Memphis Belle, the first aircrew to complete its 25 missions in the 8th USAAF. He did 26 more missions in the Pacific.
  17. I don't know if it is anything more than the person who joins the Secret Service knowing that one day he might get called upon to use his body to shield the person in his charge. Being a samurai, even a lower ranked Sergeant equivalent means with great power there also comes great responsibility when that day arrives. For a while I have thought Lady Mariko's beef was that her father married her off down a level. When Lady Ochiba and her where at the top level where rank has its privileges. Some guy in a fishing village can be just killed by a governor's nephew serving as a mayor but not those on what is now the regent to Shogun and Emperor level. Maybe if it is in the novel but when Mariko identified herself by her father's and not her husband's name does that mean they were divorced as she took on Lord Toranaga's commission?
  18. The most recent moment that really stands out was seeing Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant with a very realistic looking judo based hand to hand fight against a large killer and being able to hold out long enough for back up to arrive.
  19. Judging by his performance in combat and physical strength I am betting that while not as practiced as a 12 year old lord that physics would trump over finely tuned technique. I think Lady Mariko explained that Lady Fuji remained behind in the fishing village to close up the Anjin's affairs there. I for one didn't want to see her mourning her grandfather
  20. Truly, though she stopped over in the Philippines she hasn't converted to Catholitism. And even there many of the Chinese Filipinos and those from the northern Luzon provinces wear white in this social situation
  21. I think that normally, having seen more TV PG characters than movies, the cowboy hands a loaded pistol for the guy to euthanize himself. But that is how 1950s up audiences would see it. I would think stabbing yourself would leave the victim more like a horse than a gut shot cowboy. More realistic war movies of the era would show that Korean War or WWII soldier euthanize a mate. Added to the scars shown when he was washed when watching Anjin fight for the first time with his rapid reloads during combat that wasn't his first rodeo.
  22. TV distribution was a very different thing back then. I had just started school and I wasn't giving that much time to something I had little interest in at the time. And the only way to enjoy a show like we do now is to invest in VHS tapes and dedicate to the show above the 2 other network shows for that week. And then the Japanese wasn't subtitled until a later VHS release so we only understood what Lady Mariko translated. I can only really remember the stuff around the gardener, Lady Fuji and the bird. But I now know some of the real history that formed the basis for the fiction.
  23. I think it is pretty sure that she wasn't actually there. But rather due to the house cleaning when Kate showed up mom was on Janey's mind. I have to admit that I wasn't seeing mom as a Doris McGarrett. With the line about losing her looks, which she hasn't, I was thinking more the war bride/mail order bride stereotype that once in America that wife of the soldier or junior NCO is all of the sudden getting men of higher social rank going after her and would be trade up. Leaving that sailor in this case, or 90 day fiancé petitioner in the lurch. So unknown siblings is more like Steve and Wo Fat than another spy in my thinking.
  24. I do wonder how much can depend upon the audience knowing the novel, the 80's miniseries or the story of their historical analogs?. We were shown him killing Buddhist Priest. But then again we saw Lord Omi just summarily execute a Christian for coming up to Blackthorne in the first episode and random call up for prisoners to be executed. So the Oda Nounaga character, Lady Ochiba's father, didn't look any more nuts than other samurai.
  25. In bringing in the Armenian princess in the flashback and the wake perhaps more than her having the toy car should have been done to remind us. I do remember back in that first season that Nadia's biggest concern didn't seem to be Arman's mistresses, but rather he was getting seen publicly with a cleaning lady and not a visiting heart surgeon.
