  1. I wish I could like this comment a billion times. I’ve often wondered why I stick with this show, but you hit the nail on the head. I will say that I find Gordon a bit more “toned down” this season, more realistic reactions. I like the change.
  2. Gilda was on again last night. I will never not watch that film when it’s on schedule—in fact, will probably watch on the TCM app every day until 10/17, when it gets taken off. The dialog just crackles, and the fever-dream visuals and plotting, not to mention the costume and set design hit that film noir sweet spot for me. I would love for some risk-taking (lololol) production company to do a prequel so we could see the first love affair between Johnny and Gilda.
  3. So, do we ever find out whether Abe actually passed the background check for Bell Labs after the recruiter found out about Midge's arrests? Did it ever come up again? That's odd to me. And it's odd to me that Abe never mentions it to Midge. Reminds me of how frustrated I would get with GG doing the same thing.
  4. Nope, it wasn’t a sweet roll consistency. Definitely had chew. But not as tough as most traditional bagels.
  5. During the bagel craze in the 1990s in our town, the local bagel shop made a snickerdoodle bagel that was hands down the most delicious thing I’d ever tasted. The topping was cinnamon and coarse sugar and the dough was slightly sweetened and spiced and fluffy-ish. The stuff of dreams! They had 35 different varieties of bagels a day to choose from. Their egg bagels were amazing too!
  6. I believe what the US calls a tank top is a singlet in the UK.
  7. This is why Jay will never make it. He is flat out not strong enough to hold a partner’s body weight, even when her(partner’s) feet are on the ground (that under the body slide they did in the cha cha). I don’t like the fact that they are using him for PR, because it’s evident that he just is not built for that kind of dance. That said, I live in the Dallas area and I’m definitely going to see one of his shows here! He’s such a great performer. Comfort is one of my favorites of all time. If I could pick any alum of the show to be able to dance like, she would be the choice. Her face game is fire along with the skill and attitude.
  8. Hmm. The argument I read explained that photographers/set designers are concerned due to what is explained at www.wipo.int/export/sites/www/some/en/documents/pdf/ip_photography. pdf (take the space out before the “p” in .pdf) excerpted: ”Photographing a copyright work amounts to reproducing it. Therefore, before you take a photo of any copyright work, you need the prior permission of the copyright owner”. “1.4 Will you use a substantial part of the work? ...Because there is no hard-and-fast rule, relying on the defense that you are using only a “non-substantial part” of a work may be dangerous. The best advise is to ask prior permission from the copyright owner if you are in doubt.” The safest, easiest policy is to not photograph the covers.
  9. Ok, why didn’t anyone use a print? Or make an actual party dress? When I think party dress I think of something on the casual side, not a gown. Like something Ashley or Kenley would make. And those fabrics were all so awful. WORST RUNWAY EVER.
  10. My thoughts exactly. I knew just by looking at him that whichever chef had to cook with him was going to get the PYKAG.
  11. She gave the homeowners a choice of exterior paint colors and they chose white. I thought the couple was precious! We usually don’t get much winter here in TX—this winter excepted, Lol! We have an outdoor patio heater that runs on propane that we use (100.00 at Costco) when we have guests outside.
  12. Re: backwards books--This is why this whole thing started. If the titles are visible, either in print medium or broadcast, the publishers have the right to ask for compensation from the magazine/broadcaster for using their intellectual property. It's not a "trend" and it's not stupid. Just how thing are these days legally. Yes, some idiot people think that it's a design trend, because that's the way they see it in a magazine or design show. They just don't realize that it's not the way poeple really live with the bookshelves day to day. I loved everything about the Club House. Of all the properties that the Gaineses have done, it's the one I'm most envious of. I love single story, painted brick houses from that era. I have an early 2000s two story and will never have a two-story again. It's time for me to rip out my kitchen and bathrooms (can't salvage the cabinets because they are MDF --basically paper--and can't be repainted) and I can see myself using this house as an inspiration. Loved the gas lamps; reminds me of NOLA, one of my favorite cities.
  13. Didn't Tom C criticize Bruce early in the competition for trying to do things that he doesn't do? As I recall, he told Bruce point blank to cook what he is comfortable cooking. Like you said, DITD,DITD.
  14. I don’t like any of these people and could care less who wins. Just gonna spend the season watching the runway and judging only.
  15. My kitchen dining set has plain wooden seats. Easier to keep clean when you have children. The formal dining chairs have padded seats, but sorry to say the adults aren’t much better at keeping their grubby hands off them than kids lol!
  16. Thank you. I had hoped someone would point that out, about royal protocol. IMO, it showed how much respect Bjorn has for Lagertha as queen and ruler.
  17. Well, this episode did it for me. I took this series off my DVR list. The first season was intriguing, the time travel, Scotland, and the fish-out-of-water story for Claire. The Paris season had all those beautiful costumes (swoon!), but the plot was starting to be forgotten and boring. Last season was excruciating for many reasons, including casting decisions and Jaime and Claire being separated the whole time. This season was absolutely nonsensical. SO MANY PLOT HOLES and !amazing! coincidences. And not even gorgeous costumes or set decoration for eye candy. Half the season occurred in a variety of disease-ridden ships, for God’s sake. I deleted this episode as soon as Margaret’s brother just happened to show up at the slave camp to join his sister and her Chinese lover, who also happened to be there, along with Jaime and Claire hiding in the grass (lolololol). I have a $600 cell phone and unlimited texting/data and can’t get two of my friends to meet up with me at the same time. It is too much to be borne.
  18. Our DTV listing doesn’t show the title of this 70’s movie that’s on right now—the guy in glasses killed a bar owner, stole money from the cash register, and some dumb blonde got mixed up in it. Now they are on the road, fleeing the police. Any ideas what this movie is? I don’t recognize the actors.
  19. This whole discussion cracks me up. This is a cooking COMPETITION show, yet some of you viewers want some kind of “fixing” being done to ensure that everything is cookie cutter PC perfect. Let the contestants rise or fall based on their merits alone. That’s the only reason I watch this show. I don’t care if the winners or losers are green or pigeons—whoever COOKS THE BEST FOOD wins. My b-I-l is a former restaurant chef. He met his wife at a restaurant, where she was also a chef. As soon as she could she quit. She now works for a supplier, so that she can have kids and be a mom, too. It is a horrible job. It takes a special kind of toughness not to be swallowed up by the demands of the schedule, the heat, rude customers, and the lure of substances to help you cope with it all. I would think it’s like a war zone. There are many less battle-zonish jobs to have and still be in the industry.
  20. Will someone remind me of the storyline surrounding Gellis in 1968? I seem to have some sort of amnesia about this character. I barely remember her.
  21. Except that in this episode, Jo showed them grey cabinet paint for the kitchen, but the homeowners said they wanted white—-and she changed it to white. It would have been better in grey, IMO. But she doesn’t appear to be at all dictatorial <shrug>.
  22. I love Judy Holliday so much that it will be hard for me to watch the usual Hollywood blondes in the role. Maybe Michelle Williams? She’s kind of a chameleon and is a bit more cerebral. Or Emma Watson, if she could get the accent right (a difficult task—JH had such an unusual delivery).
  23. Because RM’s character was the creepiest, most horrific EVER in film. That movie just is too much for me to handle. And CG is an angel from God above always, lol.
  24. I’m glad they are making the decision to get their kids off tv. This is a wacko world—I would never want my kids to be in the public eye in such a way. I will miss the show, though.
