  1. So true. If a child, even an adult child, loses their abusive parent, they can oftentimes grieve for what mother or father they wished they had, and now it's never going to happen. Losing a parent can make you feel a little more alone in the world too.
  2. Readalot: Thanks for sharing your insider's POV! I'm curious what vibes you got from the people in person, mainly Simon. You say he was the friendliest shaking hands and thanking the audience, but he is clearly the boss, right? Heidi is a goddess. Is that her physical appearance or does she have charm in her personality that adds to her persona? What did you think of meeting Courtney? Did she seem excited, or did she put on a shy girl act? All the rest of you: I've fallen off watching AGT for the past month or so but love keeping up with what's going on here. I haven't read too much because I thought of spoilers, but at this point, I probably won't sit and watch each episode in full. Your posts are so funny and hilarious! I wanted to Quote and highlight some of the ones that made me laugh, but that would be the entire thread. (Seriously). My hope at this point is that Shin Lim wins, and if not him, then Brian.
  3. Ruth wants Wyatt in college full time so he doesn't have any distractions. She'll get him the money, no problem. I don't blame Ruth for wanting Charlotte to stay the fuck away from Wyatt, and I don't blame Wendy for blowing up at Charlotte either!
  4. I agree with Chaos Theory in that just about everyone was doing fine before the Byrde's showed up, and also agree with Rap541 because Rachel is an adult and her choices are her own. Rach has no one to blame but herself. Not a spoiler: Also, that skeevy quickie in the restroom ("Marty!") was all instigated by her!
  5. That's right. So she told the lawyer she wants to run away with Wyatt and shack up with him? ROFLMAO. You're right about the freshmen in dorms requirement. I looked it up and here's what the University of Missouri has on their website under Residential Life: INCOMING STUDENT FAQ Why are freshmen required to live on campus? National research shows that students who live in residence halls are more successful. We know from our own data that students who live in our halls are more likely to stay in school and graduate in four years than students who do not. Can I move off campus mid-year? No. University policy requires freshmen to live in Residential Life residence halls. Your contract is for a complete academic year. All residents signed a legal contract are required to fulfill their responsibilities. If you’re a freshman and you wish to move into an approved fraternity house, however, you can exercise a purchase option and pay 40 percent of the charges for your room, dining plan and social fee through the end of the academic year. If you cancel your contract for any other reason, you are responsible for 100 percent of your contract for the rest of the academic year. (Copied and pasted pertinent text from MU website) I guess Charlotte thinks she'll live in her van off campus!
  6. Charlotte is a "typical teenager", that is, a self-centered entitled brat who thinks she's running the show. I actually do not like her character. I won't say anything bad about the actress, other than she looks older than the 15 years old she's supposed to be. Charlotte only cares about herself and doesn't see the big picture. There is nothing other than "My mom had an affair" that would be worthy of being emancipated other than the usual stuff the lawyer pointed out in her convo with Wendy (cell phone, car keys), that would warrant being emancipated. Unless she just told the lawyer she really, really, really hates living in Osage Beach/Lake Ozark and wants to go back to Chicago by herself and start an adult life, but with what? No GED, no money other than what's left of her stolen money she used to buy a van and weed for her and Wyatt to enjoy. "I want to be emancipated! Can I go to my room now?" Ridiculous. The lawyer Charlotte hired has to hold what Charlotte told her under attorney-client privilege, but she could be strong-arming the Byrdes to get her case "won" with the two-day time limit. If the case goes to court, Charlotte reveals all and that's the end of the family. Charlotte probably thinks she wouldn't get in trouble because her parents made her participate, but what about Jonah's off shore accounts?
  7. Wendy should have played it cooler with lady lawyer, which I thought she did a pretty good job of doing. She blew up at Charlotte a lot and expressed her concerns to Marty in their bedroom. I liked how Wendy kicked the lawyer out of her house and then went to apologize the next day, only to be fishing for the disclosed dastardly details in her law office. Either Charlotte saved enough money from her share of the $10,000 she stole from the cartel (half given to brother Jonah) after she bought her van, jeans and a sweater, or this lawyer took on her case pro bono. Also, dropping a dime on her family also puts Jonah in danger of getting in trouble with the federal legal system.
  8. Charlotte's lawyer gave The Byrdes two days to sign the emancipation papers and if they didn't, it sounded like she would blow the lid off and go to the feds. She mentioned the affair "and much, much more" so there had to be some disclosure by Charlotte of the illegal activities. IMHO.
  9. This penultimate episode deserves an award for best intro and ending ever. I love the tie-in of The Badger starting and ending with the Snells. Using Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" made it all the more haunting. Wow. I didn't see that twist at the end. I thought Darlene had gotten too big for her britches, but as Jacob said, she was always one step ahead.
  10. Mason was an unhinged lunatic. Marty pulled a rabbit out of a hat to get Zeke out of the foster home and back in his baby carrier, reunited with dear ole dad, and he pulls that crap on them. I cheered when Marty pulled the trigger. Too bad he bled out.
  11. Yeah, I wasn't expecting the last scene. Wow, that last scene. I didn't mind the shower scene, as it took on new meaning since Ruth had actually been waterboarded. Great song choices for this episode. Especially "Shotgun" with Wendy and Buddy in the car and That Last Scene (Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)".) Awesome.
  12. Even if the poppy fields are destroyed by fire, wouldn't there still be evidence of what was there that the FBI could find as proof of criminal activity? I do like Buddy though!
  13. That is probably a state of affairs Mr. Wolf would not like. ;)
  14. As soon as Wendy remarked at dinner with the Snells that it was delicious, I knew they were eating the buck their kid shot. I could've done without the boy taking out an innocent animal who was minding his own business eating some grass. I'm not a fan of hunters, hunting season, and hunting scenes. Wendy was weak-willed when it came to her son going inside the house and not out hunting. I know they had to further the story, but... I am glad that Ruth finally heard me yelling at my screen to let the bobcats go!
  15. I got the creepy incest vibe too. I didn't think it would be rape, but that Daddy Cade thought he'd pick up where he left off, which is why Ruth made sure he had his own trailer and a hooker.
  16. I also liked the verdict scene being sound dropped. It gave you a chance to see the emotion on Taystee's face telling the whole story in concert with what most viewers expected the verdict to be. In other words, we really didn't need to hear it. The creative choice worked for me.
  17. I laughed at MCC's new name: PolyCon. Con as in convict. Jeez. Linda's PR film: Another way to exploit the inmates! I enjoyed the auditions when the inmates went "off-script." Linda is despicable.
  18. Yes, those cases were my inspiration. As they say, you can't make this stuff up. Truth is stranger than fiction. I left out the names because I was too lazy to look each one up and verify, thought I'd be too even more verbose in my post, and there's probably more than one of each instance anyway! :)
  19. Badison's bad accent may be a result of her being from Boston with a speech impediment? Even Bostonians have different accents depending on class and location, i.e., Brahmin, Southie. I agree it's terrible and off-putting, adding nothing good to the character Madison. The show would have been better off giving her another speech pattern, or let her just speak in her natural voice. I want to know how many kids she killed and how. I don't want to bond with her over postpartum depression or anything supposedly sympathetic. Maybe she killed them to be with her boyfriend who didn't want them around? Maybe she was married to a nutcase (religious or otherwise) who kept her barefoot, pregnant and making her do all the work?
  20. David Miscavige might have missing wife Shelly in a secret bunker with Internet access hard at work.
  21. It looks like the entire cast (sans Roseanne) will be in The Conners. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6119147/ABC-releases-photo-Roseanne-spinoff-Connors.html
  22. I'm in for the long haul, as I've invested all this time watching each season. I streamed Seasons 1 and 2 back in 2014 or 2015 before Season 3 was released. The last episode I saw until this year was S02E13 where Miss Rosa escapes in the van and kills Vee on her way out. I've binge-watched everything to now since mid-August. It must have been strange for those of you who watched the entirety of Season 5, A Few Days In The Life of Litchfield's Prison Riot, and then have an entire year until the next installment! Thanks for all those who've said this season will get better. At this point, it's more starring Uzo Aduba and Taylor Schilling is part of the ensemble cast. Piper is annoying AF and I'm sick of her and Alex's relationship. I'm sad that the guards are going to pin the death of Piscatella (who I'm glad got his commupance, and not because of the inmates!) on the inmates. These guards are sadistic monsters who are devious and evil. I'm also sad that Daya is looking like she's ending up in for life. Do the prisons just write up an inmate and blame the death of someone else on that person? Isn't there a trial in the criminal court system? Will Daya get an attorney? My favorite character is Red.
  23. As annoying as too much Suzanne can get, I do not blame her for Poussey's death. Suzanne is mentally ill, on and off her medications, not getting psychiatric therapy and at the time of the incident was still traumatized by the fight club escapade between her and Maureen. Suzanne is operating under diminished capacity. Sometimes she makes sense and is lucid and sometimes she goes off the rails. She turns violent without warning. She shouldn't even be inside this prison, Litchfield minimum security or max.
  24. I came here to post the same news. Here's Daily Mail Online's article. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6104415/John-Goodman-hints-Roseanne-killed-Conners-following-racist-tweet-scandal.html ETA: John Goodman was depressed in real life for about a month after the tweet/cancellation scandal. John also says he knows for a fact that Roseanne Barr is not a racist. The comments section shows that some people think the whole thing was a double standard situation, overblown, that the show will fail, or "down in its own misery" as one Daily Mail commentor said, or that they won't watch the show at all, despite having watched the original and the reboot of "Roseanne." Your opinion may vary and YMMV.
