It tied with How To Get Away with Murder for first in the demo and was second in total viewers, excluding football. 4.02 ratings: 3.4 demo, 10.70 total viewers. It won the night in the demo and was second in total viewers, excluding football. For comparison, the S3 premiere ratings were 3.1 demo and 9.6 total. The S3 finale's were 2.6 demo and 8.45 total.
  2. Episode 4.03- press release, promo pics, and sneak peek.
  3. I know Emma is going to be the point person for the Frozen arc but I would like it if there was an Elsa/Regina parallel with Regina avoiding Henry. Last ep, she was about to use a fire ball when she walked away. Later her anger broke a mirror. Obviously the parallel would have very different context since Elsa is not a villain, but the essence of both characters recognizing that they should be alone when upset because of issues with control could be there. That Bo Peep is being played by Calamity Jane just adds to the awesome. I would love it if the hat belonged to Merlin! I think it would be interesting if Rumple wanted his power and had to fight the urge to use his dagger to get the hat.
  4. If Regina avoids Henry like she considered going evil last ep, they will be all hugs. I'm curious about the ice cave. Is Elsa so out of control that she can't even let them out? Is she actually keeping it frozen? I mean Regina blew the shit out of the snow monster without breaking a sweat. I get that Elsa is afraid but if they are getting through to her like has been suggested, I'm confused.
  5. Or perhaps like me, that reviewer thinks Lana is a good actor who makes a character that can be both a lot of fun and infuriatingly ridiculous continuously watchable and dynamic. I'll go now before the speeding train of Regina hate and disdain for all who consider themselves fans headed through here hits me.
  6. I don't think the choice of those six episodes means anything. If that bit had been assigned to the intern in the next cubicle I think the list would look entirely different outside of the pilot and last premiere.
  7. I don't mind parallels, but this sounds ridiculous. If they are going with Emma losing control of her powers and hurting those around her, that is a straight out copy of the movie. They are doing Frozen because everyone has seen it. Using those characters and copying their story lines is incredibly lazy. I will join the train that thinks they will send Regina after her. I actually think it makes sense even as much as it annoys me. Unlike Elsa, Regina is a main character. She is also the one who has always been in charge of teaching Emma magic. If Emma's magic is out of control, it makes sense that they would send the person who has been working with her after her. Besides, going with the assumption that it will have have to be a main character if this is any kind of a substantial story, who else would they send? Neither of her parents have magic. Nor do her boyfriend or son. Regina and Rumple are really the only options and Regina will always be a better option than him.
  8. I'm with Hook. Emma, sweetie, when Regina says not now take her at her word. This scene makes it very clear that Regina really doesn't have a clue who Marion is beyond being Robin's wife. Knowing that gives her reaction a lot of context for me. Why would she immediately feel like she deserves this? She doesn't know her role in it until Emma tells her. Her reaction is callous regardless but it is Regina. I didn't think it was that bad. It bugged me that right after Marion heard Henry call Regina mom, she reached down to pick up her son protectively and yell that Regina was a monster in front of Henry. I know that Marian is upset but it didn't endear her to me at all. At least I found her very sympathetic in the rest of the scene. Robin on the other hand is a moron once again. I loved the Charmings for the first time in a while in this scene which is awesome. I miss liking them. Of course Snow asked about Regina. She and her love for Regina are a textbook example of how irrational emotions can be. Also she knows Regina and doesn't seem to have a clue who Marion is so of course that is where her concern would go first. And I laughed that soon after David said things were okay because no one had been incinerated yet, Regina just almost did just that. He amuses me with regards to Regina. He knows she's nuts and he knows Snow loves her so he just tries to keep everyone alive.
  9. I don't think that Kerry needs acting lessons. I think she is a very capable actress (though I hesitate a little on calling her an Emmy deserving actress just from what I have seen of her on this show). I would just like for her to change her approach for Olivia. I really don't understand why but this season her portrayal took really whiny turn that wasn't there in the earlier seasons. If Olivia never reacted to anything with that infuriating quivering lip again I would be happy. If she wanted to go a step further, she could also cut out more than a bit of the histrionics. I know a lot of the blame for the bad turn the character of Olivia took last season has been placed on the writing, but I disagree. I think the writing was very hit or miss for her but the changes in Kerry's portrayal are what truly made Olivia so infuriating. At this point, Olivia's belief that she wears the white hat is just delusional.
  10. I didn't read the spoiler as David being dead set against the relationship. I just read it as him having reservations. Since Hook will be the first boyfriend he has actually been around, I'm not surprised he wouldn't be all for it. I don't think it will be about Hook at all. It will be about David seeing Emma in a romantic relationship for the first time. I would love for Regina and Henry's new mission to be returning her hearts! It would also tie into Henry's work at Rumple's shop with all of his stolen prizes nicely.
  11. I'm guessing it's not so much that new photos don't exist as it is that they haven't deigned to release them yet. Once is not the only ABC show that doesn't have them out yet.
  12. I'm happy with this debate left in the past. From this statement, I get the feeling that I feel differently from you about what happened and how it was handled. I have no interest in the show revisiting a topic that always seems to turn into a ranting fight in the fandom. I said that in my experience pre-teen boys start stepping up but I don't know any who give a shit about romance (and annoyingly, I know a whole team of them right now). If Henry actually gives a shit about any of the three main couples beyond 'oh that's nice' or 'oh that sucks' I will be side-eying it hard. I think he should be more in the mode of distracting Regina with something more interesting than playing match maker with a guy he barely knows and the truckloads of drama that come with him. But how much time have they really spent together since 2A? In 2B, she was off with Cora fighting the rest of the town. They were separate through most all of 3A and in 3B, he didn't remember her until the end. The portrayal of their relationship has been really superficial for a while simply because they don't have many scenes together anymore. I still like their scenes a lot because of the genuineness of the bond that Lana and Jared sell but I'm hopeful that with more than a few short scenes in 4A their relationship will get a little more real again.
  13. Jean, we obviously disagree on the relevance of Q scores. I think they are going the way of Nielsen ratings only without the efforts to modernize. You see it differently. I apologize if my post came off as confrontational. I didn't intend it that way but I am sorry if I missed its tone. I feel stupid, but how do you know the premiere party is in LA? I assume at least part of the cast will attend. It seems pointless to have a premiere with only one or two members of the cast. I always thought getting the cast out to promote the show was the whole point.
  14. I am actually really looking forward to the Regina/Henry storyline. Henry's relationship with Emma may be more healthy but it is also less interesting for me. The push-pull dynamic with Henry loving Regina but hating who she is then both of them trying to work forward to a better dynamic has always been interesting to me. I also think Lana and Jared really sell the love and bond between them as mother and son. It helps that I think it makes total sense. They have just been separated for a year. Add in that Regina is also going to be going through a tough time and I'm not surprised at all that he would want to spend time with her. In my experience with pre-teen boys, they are ridiculous but also start stepping up. And mainly, OMG I'm happy to hear about a Regina storyline without Robin. My vote for the end of this triangle is still that he dies. Like what? The only things I can think of that Regina took from Emma is one spell of white magic and in one specific instance dealing with Regina's family, the role of savior. Everything else Regina had first. Eh, I think she's hooked because of the soul mate thing. I think he's just in a lust haze with (from what I can tell) the first woman he's been involved with since his wife that he's justifying as soul mates because he's a Good Guy. I'm hoping Anna's encounter with Rumple has less to do with being appalled at how awful he is and more to do with her being appalled at his manipulations. Her whole story in Frozen was her belief in her sister and her determination to get to her no matter who tried to stop her. Rumple always wants people to think they can't do it without him so they make a deal that screws them over. Those views should clash. So basically the Knave is going to chill for a while until the Maleficent storyline. Whatever show. And of course, 4B will likely be Regina heavy and the Knave is connected to Robin. Die, Robin, die.
  15. I just posted new promo pics in the media thread. My spec- the wife is sick and the husband is only staying with her because she isn't well. Parallel time! Mellie is grieving and Fitz is only giving her the time of day because she is sad that their son just died. But obviously, if she would just get over it he could have his real happy ending with Olivia without feeling like (but still being obviously) a total douche.
  16. Promo pics for ep 2. They are only pictures of guest stars.
  17. Just to clarify what I said earlier- I meant that the Q score rankings didn't seem to align with the actual prominence and number of endorsements of the actresses. For example, Julianna Margulies just won her third Emmy and second lead actress Emmy for her current role and she has endorsements with L'Oreal, Chase Banks, and American Airlines just off the top of my head but she was ranked 44. Kate Walsh has a Garnier contract and was 29. Sofia Vergara has a Covergirl contract and a clothing line among many other things and was ranked 13. Kerry Washington was ranked 10 and she has several contracts as well as just generally being a big deal. Yet no one above Kerry Washington have any major endorsements and/or recent awards or other career highs that I can find. That doesn't mean that they aren't popular or that the scores aren't relevant, just that these scores don't seem to have much actual cause and effect so they don't seem as valuable to me. I wasn't trying to judge recognizability or popularity among fans. I have no idea how to really judge that.
  18. Funny enough, the finale was also the only time he seemed to give a damn about winning the election. He got over it fast enough but he was pissed that he was going to lose. It's amazing how somehow, those three things come at the same time. For me, it makes his dream of Vermont even more obviously separate from his real life. It's all one or the other and everything else gets completely tossed aside. Since I have no doubt he will end up in some version of Vermont, for the sake of the family and career (and everyone working for that career) he's been building for twenty years, I hope that changes.
  19. I thought some of those Q scores were really odd- they only poll 1800 people. I was confused because some of those stars way down the list have big endorsements which didn't jibe. It is awesome to see a Once Upon a Time actress (and my former fandom, a House vet) but Q scores appear to mean significantly less than they used to. I'm guessing that is the shift in marketing and media.
  20. Lana Didn't say Regina was betrayed by Emma- she said she felt betrayed. Those are totally different things. I am not surprised in the least that Regina would feel betrayed. She is not exactly known for being rational. As for fault, this mess is going to be Emma's doing. That does NOT mean she did the wrong thing, just that what she chose to do caused a mess. As little interest as I have in outlaw queen, at least Lana seems to be saying that Regina is not going to completely revert. You can't really evolve past the kind of bat shit crazy that Regina is, but hopefully she will still hold on to some of the perspective that she gained last season. I like my Regina ridiculous, but not so much stupid.
  21. I didn't see this as queer baiting. She said that the show was not going in a romantic direction with Regina and Emma multiple times. Basically, I thought she was saying that Swan queen is not wrong just that it is not happening. I don't have a problem with that answer. I also liked that she brought up Jennifer Morrison. She gets so much grief on Twitter, I liked that Lana spoke so positively about her feelings on Swan queen. In my opinion, neither actress should be required to support a fan ship but since there are plenty who disagree with me, I am glad they are riding it out on the same page.
  22. I'm 99% sure that is Elizabeth Mitchell in the poster which I actually like. I don't mind the idea of her being Frozen's Evil Queen.
  23. I haven't seen any promo pictures with Olivia in them. Where did you see that one?
  24. I just can't see Liv on the beach. A week's vacation sure, but no longer than that. I know beach is easiest for the show but I was hoping she would be in some exotic city where I could imagine her going to museums and exploring the country and not have to believe fireball Olivia can now spend days at a time doing nothing.
  25. I think at this point I could be happy if Fitz just had the slightest bit of self-awareness. I could be happy if he just said 'I was a shitty father to my son so now I'm going to have my secretary check in with Karen at least every ten days or so'. Or 'I'm a shitty president so I am going to direct all my authority to have my underlings make a law limiting statues to eight feet high nationwide so I have one clear success.' Or 'I'm a shitty boss so from now on I am going to choose hotel rooms with thicker doors to bang my mistress in.' I really don't need anything huge from him. Just some awareness of his surroundings beyond banging Olivia and his own endless tears. And for God's sake, some initiative. I have no expectations for any changes in his love life but outside of that idiocy, I wish he would get past this I trust you! I hate you! Yours is the only advice I want! You are stupid!!! pattern with everyone close to him. If Olivia is the key to your presidency, stop shitting all over her opinion. If Cyrus is your bulldog, let him do it. If Mellie is brilliant and informed, use that brilliance. His total and complete impotence and insistence on continuing that path drives me crazy. While I have no doubt Olivia will be back two minutes into the premiere, I would prefer to see Fitz and the White House with her MIA for two or three eps. We've already seen him pouting and drinking over her- where will he take out his issues this time? He can never be alone so will he start banging interns and relying on Cyrus to choose his every move? How long will he remember Jerry just died? I have no idea why I still find a character that I see as a spoiled toddler treated like he's king of the world interesting but I do. I think it is just the lingering effects of the end of last season when he was dealing with more than just Olivia and the Grant marriage was actually given a bit of space to demonstrate how truly screwed up it is that got me. I don't even object to Olivia and Fitz really. Just their melodramatic idiocy and the way their relationship consumes both characters.
