I totally agree, so am joining you on that minority bus. I thought his dealings with Kensley and the crayon/chalk etc. were cute. I may have been missing or forgetting some things but I had never heard ANY mention of either daughter's baby daddy being in the picture before this (and am also making an assumption which could be wrong that they are different baby daddies) and also inferred along the way (not sure if it was said or implied or I'm just jumping to conclusions) that Molly was setting him up to be a dad or at least hands-on (no pun intended) stepdad to at least Kensley though obviously not Olivia. She's sure using him as an unpaid full-time babysitter for her, anyway. I don't think he meant ill from his comments about being her dad. I got the feeling that he was surprised by her angry defensive reaction of "I have a dad, you're not my dad, I hate you." And yeah, I am betting on some producer manipulation here.

YES!!!! I like both options ... What seems to be the thing now (and granted I'm a 50-something) is that "real" invitations are sent out with RSVP cards but they also lead us to a "wedding website" where we can find out more about the logistics, hotels if we're traveling, a link to the registry, a place to write comments or add photos, etc. I think that is the best of both worlds. And with 33 years and counting in the books with Mr. Snappy, I STILL have all the "RSVP cards" from our wedding with all the sweet notes people wrote on them! I know that today's world is all electronic and online but I think someday they'll miss not having things they can hold in their hands (other than an iPhone).

I am SO glad you posted here because I couldn't find the Small Talk section when I rambled on about my own "big day" in the episode thread before deleting everything but the first two grafs LOL ... My dad had given me pretty much open season on the credit card but I was not a gown and veil kind of gal ... found a little tailor/alterations shop in Queens where the teenage brother was a wiz with the needle ... I drew him a picture of what I wanted (kind of Stevie Nicks in retrospect, gypsy/handkerchief etc. with iridescent sequins) and he made it for me from scratch with all the alterations I needed for $750. Hubby bought a new suit (he has to wear tuxedos at gigs because he's a musician and does the big money gigs on weekends in wedding bands). He just sold his wedding suit at a garage sale last month for $20. I still have my dress (which oddly enough has a lipstick stain at the bottom of the back zipper which we've never figured out) but while I'm close to my wedding weight, 30-plus years and a baby has redistributed it so it will never fit again. I've offered it to my daughter if/when she gets married and at the very least want her to try it on so I can have closure LOL (it's actually not NOT her style). Her attitude, unlike many of the bridezillas I know now including an unnamed relative whose wedding we attended (and whose "bachelorette weekend" my daughter declined because not only was she not in the wedding party but she didn't have $1000 to spend on it ... !!!!! ... this is a thing?) ... she thinks $750 is an absolutely ridiculous amount to spend on a wedding dress and she's budgeted $250 for herself if/when the time comes (I know how much said unnamed relative's wedding gown cost or thereabouts because it was not only featured but CHOSEN by a celebrity bride on 'Say Yes To The Dress.') The wedding party was a friend who had bought a dress to be MOH at her sister's wedding the previous spring and so she wore that, and Mr. Snappy's best friend as best man who just wore a dark suit. We saved the attire/Saturday night surcharge by having a Sunday afternoon wedding/etc. so we could have an open bar. Which may be why I don't know where the lipstick mark came from.

Drogo, will you please accept this slightly wilted rose and ring from Neil Lane that is on 60-day layaway ... sorry, wrong show ... I have to admit that I am slightly surprised that Speshul Snowflake is so incredibly blatant in her desire for "the wedding of her dreams" (i.e., one day out of what should for all intents and purposes be the next 50 years minimum) over even PRETENDING to actually give AF about what he wants until she has him under lock and key (to the chastity belt) ... In fact, I'm surprised she's even signed up for "90 DAY FIANCE/E" since I'd have thought she'd want to be the special bride-to-be for WAY more than just 90 days where she can wave around her magic wand and plan the big day and have everyone cater to her whims and also clone herself so she can be the wedding singer at her own wedding, etc. ... She's be so much better suited to something like "Bridezillas" or "Say Yes To The Dress" or any of the TLC etc. bridal shows.

Thank you for clarification! All I knew was that the mob branch that had been involved in the beating of his wife (Twisty??? Something like that) was not the same as Rudy Mr. Pipolo's branch.

Because I am already a fan of Spain David (and am totally ready to be disillusioned, since this show is what it is), I'll give him a pass for now re: the coming attractions next week when he meets her BFF Mikayla (who apparently only inherited that role because a. she's the only person who can tolerate precious snowflake and b. she is or WAS "homely" enough to assure precious snowflake of always being the pretty friend). But since we know that precious snowflake already told Spain David that her BFF is the one person who is REALLY REALLY AGAINST THIS MARRIAGE AND HIM in advance, it's not surprising if Spain David heads into the meeting with some shoulder chips or a bad pre-impression. I also don't think Luis is creepy (again, yet). I think Molly is bat-shit cray cray and Kensley (sp?) is adorable and seems very excited to have a daddy figure/new playmate and Olivia is the sullen teen who ALSO doesn't have a dad (do we know if EITHER of the baby daddies are in the picture for those two?) ... I don't think Olivia cares about having to "share mom." It seems like she can barely stand spending time with her to start with. I'm sure Molly is the embarrassing over-the-top mom who MAYBE her friends think is cool but secretly Olivia is humiliated by in front of her friends (I've been that mom). The funny thing is that I bet if left alone to hang out, Olivia and Luis would get along in any other situation. They're certainly closer in age. I just love Kensley.

Agree BUT I think they set that up when Chris was asking her why she hadn't gone off the street into a parlor and she said that she wasn't getting any business that way because no one was choosing her (I inferred over the skinny white and black girls) and her "body type" attracted a particular clientele that I guess wasn't going to the parlors. I guess that was setting up her lack of pimp protection and the dangers to which she was exposing herself. But damn, that guy looked like he was just dressing up early for Halloween with those eyes. I wish she had been a position where she could have been choosy or protected from the get-go. ETA: Sorry to have been department of redundancy department in my answer, because others have said it in fewer words. ETAA: I wish they'd gotten Wendy Grantham in that cameo as Ace's wife waiting to go to Rexall's. She has not worked since The Wire, apparently. I bet she's still lovely.

I'll take a guess that if indeed it does jump ahead, then among other key plot advancements, Candy will officially be Candida Royale and we'll see the business from her POV.

Math class is hard, said Teen Barbie. I was a little confused and wondered if it was random but Mr. Snappy said he was looking for (and found) the guy who beat up his (ex) wife. Which now will have him in trouble with the mob in S2 ...

And me, I always see him as the reporter on "Treme"!

Where to begin??? I knew things could not end well for Ruby (RIP) based solely on the name of the episode ("My Name Is Ruby") ... it could have either been a huge empowerment scene or a tragic one. And though one of the true and many delights of this show is that it has been incredibly realistic and gritty (coming from one who was in their tweens/teens living in Manhattan at the time it takes place, though not turning tricks on the Deuce or anything) without veering into "dum dum dum ... hit you over head with anvil" dramatic, I suspected a season finale would lean more towards tragedy than empowerment. Really bummed there was NO mention of Leon at all ... in jail? In jail and out on bail? Just gone gone gone? Hoping that whatever time jump is made in S2 he'll be back. I absolutely SQUEEEEEEEED when they showed "Ace" at the bar. I posted somewhere (here?) early on that I was sorely missing the great Clarke Peters somewhere somehow in the project. As a diehard fan of Simon's work from The Wire, Treme, Show Me A Hero (which I think is the first time we saw the divine Dominique Fishback) et al, Peters is my favorite and he seemed to be such an integral part of Simon's "inner circle" that his absence was glaring to me. Hoping he's part of S2. I couldn't tell, and couldn't figure out from credits but did anyone notice who played his wife, who comes to the door of the bar to remind him they have to go to the Rexall (LOVED that)? Was wondering if perhaps that was another Wire regular in a cameo. I have always been a fan of David Krumholtz and think he's been absolutely a gem on this show ... love the relationship between Harvey and Eileen. Hope that also continues. And I guess I'm just glad that Chris came out of this S1 alive, which is more than I can say for most of the roles played by the awesome Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (S1 of The Wire, RIP D'Angelo, and in most of the shows/films he's been in.) He's just so sweet and trusting ... Do we know ANYTHING about S2 ... has anyone confirmed a time jump or is that wishful thinking/speculation? Do we know WHEN it's coming back (I'm old enough to miss the good old days of 22 episodes of a show in winter, 22 more in spring, a summer hiatus, and it's back again before forgetful people like me forget the ENTIRE plot line and get distracted by shiny objects. I hate having to wait. Maybe a Wire/Treme reboot would fill the time. BTW, thanks to whoever figured out Garland Jeffreys on the bar band. I'd thought for a moment it could be David Johannsen (I can never spell that right) but Jeffreys makes so much sense (especially since Abby said something about him being half black) ... My first associated memory of him is "Ghostwriter" and "I May Not Be Your Kind" from 1977 but I learned retroactively of his LP from 1973 which was amazing and quite a staff of musicians backing him so of course their finding him in a Village bar tracks perfectly and subtly.

I was JUST going to ask if anyone caught that ... it seems like she says "Azan" during the posted talking heads, but I've heard her call him "Hassan" at least twice whe she's been chasing him down the street.

True ... and in fact, every day seven men in the US are diagnosed with BREAST cancer and somewhere between 400 and 500 men die from it each year. I am almost ashamed now to admit that I do the Avon 39 walk every year ... this coming May will be my seventh in a row ... to raise funds and awareness etc. Knocking wood, I am one of the only women in my pretty small immediate family who (so far) has NOT been diagnosed with breast cancer (younger sister, both aunts, some cousins ... plus my husband's mother who while not my blood is immediate family to my daughter ... my own mom died very young, before she would even have been of the age in that era to get a mammogram, so she's a wild card but her only sister had it). I am also POSITIVE I have met Michele along the way, one of this week's models ... or perhaps she's one of their walker spokespeople. The minute I saw her and heard her talk I was "I KNOW HER!" (Also, I can attest that a HUGE amount of the funds raised actually DO go to research, patient care, etc. because we see the first checks awarded at closing ceremonies each year ... and a big chunk of that is dedicated to the underserved local communities that need it the most.) Oh, topic: Tim using his save the biggest un-surprise ever. I don't think it mattered WHO was auf'ed, he was going to use it ... especially after we had the double twilimination, there had to be a week where someone wasn't auf'ed. Kinda wish it was someone I liked more (i.e., anyone but Margarita).
-
I am STILL trying to figure out how models are assigned ... I think I threw that query in on another thread and can't seem to find it addressed anywhere so hoping someone here may have some insight ... In years past, didh't the designers get to choose models each week with last week's winner choosing first and the rest out of the button bag? But now it SEEMS they get an envelope after they get challenge and before models come in "surprising" them with their model's name. So is it random? Are TPTB silently doing some rigging with who they assign? And what happens to the models as the pool goes does each week? I admit I have not followed whether there are models who appear one week, not the next, then are back or if indeed the pool is shrinking and each eliminated model is "auf'ed" with whatever designer they'd gotten stuck with the week his/her number came up. Hoping maybe someone has kept close enough track of who is with who and when to be able to answer ...

I deleted right after watching, but IIRC at least once (maybe more) I am 99% sure someone referred to the competition as "OUR nationals" rather than just "nationals" ... maybe I misheard but that definitely clued me in to the fact, as we'd thought, that these are not actually nationals, that the ALDC and/or Irreplaceables do NOT compete in the "real thing," and they just create the fakey-fakey competition for their own purposes. This time, as mentioned, they didn't even try and I'm willing to bet production deliberately showed the real seedy fakeness behind the facade since it's the last episode. Pulling the curtain off of Oz, so to speak.

Are You The One? - General Discussion
PamelaMaeSnap replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Are You The One?
I wonder if he picked her because this way he can try like hell to get into the truth booth again and prove they're NOT a perfect match and get it over with, or if they ARE a perfect match he can wait it out for Uche to get matched, the show to end and they can reunite (as a relative newcomer to the show, I'm guessing there have to have been at least one or two love matches made in past seasons where the couple was not "a perfect match" but they still got together when the show was over?) Also, my guess is the lone beam is Joe and Zoe. But I also guess that they're not a couple that will win a challenge to get to the truth booth or stay together long enough to prove it. And after reading up on Alexis, she is no longer on my "girls I can tolerate" list. ETA: Because math class is hard and statistics is not even in my world unless it's calculating ERA or something baseball-related, am I correct in assuming that either Kareem/Alivia or Keith/Alexis would be favored to be a perfect match because they are the only couples to get beams during both one-beam week? Or really is it just a crapshoot? (There is a reason the close-captioners caught me when I muttered under my breath while trying to figure out my Jeopardy Daily Double wager "Math class is hard, said Teen Barbie.") -
I completely agree with above poster who commented that Camryn was a beautiful dancer who put the rest of them to shame ... while I hadn't really seen enough of her to form an opinion until the last few episodes and her performances with "the irreplaceables," she stood out to me bigtime in how much, IMHO, she blew them off the stage ... and I suspect that's exactly why she wasn't invited along ... she's still, to them, a newbie and for her to be a newbie who is also going to show just how NOT THAT GOOD the rest of them are, I'm sure it was plotted with Christie at the helm and Jill not far behind to invite her but SO last minute she'd turn it down but she couldn't say she was totally snubbed. I wish all the good things in the world for her. And I wish we'd seen more of her.

And ... segue to next episode :)

THANK YOU for the link to Sepinwall's column. Not sure how I missed it (other than being the most scatterbrained person ever these last two years) but I've bookmarked it ... wondering if he meant that Cutty had the same situation in The Wire or if the guy Cutty was based on did.

At least she's not going to have to worry about Reggie Love coming down on her now. I am really loving this show. Not surprising, since it's David Simon ... but loving SO much about it, perhaps most particularly how it's resisting any temptation to be over the top. Love love love seeing so many of my old favorite characters and/or actors from The Wire (and Treme and Show Me A Hero) ... I DO NOT remember Slim Charles being quite that tall and in fact looked it up and Anwan Glover is "only" 6-5, but Leon looks like he's supposed to be about 6-9 or 6-10 ... I read a Baltimore Sun review of this episode, and needless to say I will always assume that whoever is doing the recap/review for that paper is MUCH more tuned into the details and nuances than I am, but I inferred SO many different things than the reviewer did and would, for example, love to see thoughts of some folks here: Leon shooting Reggie was called "cold-blooded." While it may have been ill-thought-out because I fear this is going to send Leon to the pokey for awhile unless the cops just decide someone who is a non-lethal part of the community shooting a pimp in possible defense of someone being abused is not worth their trouble taking to court, I didn't see it as "cold-blooded murder" at all. I am not sure if Leon is secretly in love with her or just feels really protective of her, but Reggie's abuse (mental and physical) of her was clearly a building issue. Also, whenever I see Method Man I just want to cry "my dawwwwwwwg." And I adore adore adore as always Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. But I don't trust David Simon not to kill him off. I just want him to survive ONE show, please.

I am guessing that despite his crush on Alivia (had that been indicated earlier or just this week?), he is matched with either Zoe or Alexis. -

What about Joe? Otherwise I'm totally onboard with that list. But I think Joe is adorable and funny and likable. Also I would give ANYTHING to see the suggested packing list that production sends out to the hamsters before they arrive at the house. I remember "packing lists" for summer camp that read like: 8 pairs of blue shorts. 8 white short-sleeved shirts with collars. 12 pairs of underwear. 12 pairs of knee socks. One raincoat. 2 bathing suits. One dress shirt. One nice dress for camp social. ... etc. Here: 10 lace-trimmed bras. 14 g-strings. 8 pairs of silk panties that actually cover your crack. 3 animal-style headbands. 6 pairs of f*&%-me heels. 4 bikinis (tops optional). 6 sexy costumes for impromptu parties. For men: tight speedos and socks to stuff in them as needed. -
I have no idea ... I don't think it would or should ... just wondering if the fact that we WERE traveling as a married couple on our documents with the same name on passports and I wasn't wearing a wedding band was some sort of red alert for them to give us the third degree? I can't come up with anything else LOL. Fiumicino and an American employee. Luckily, because I always insist on being at the airport REALLY early to allow for delays and lines etc. especially with international travel, we weren't in a hurry or I would have gotten REALLY flustered! As it is, I got an extra shot of Aperol in my farewell spritz at the gate cocktail lounge. And just one last quick ETA ... I had thought maybe we had one of those hidden "check these people thoroughly" codes on our pass or something (I think it's PPPP) except that we absolutely sailed through every other facet of security, customs, immigration etc. on both sides plus my husband has Global Entry. So, yeah, maybe she was just nucking futs.

Just so so so incredibly gutted to read about Mychael Knight ... He was one of my absolute all-time favorite PR contestants. There was just something about his personality that made me wish I could hang out with him. I loved his designs as well but more than anything I loved his spirit and charm (and how easy he was on the eyes). And also incredibly distraught to read about the cause of death (and only 39!) ... without wanting to saddle people here with my own sob story, what a terrible way to go. I've battled the condition off and on for eight or nine years now with varying degrees of debilitation, to some degree stabilized by medication, but when the pain flares up (usually in the wee small hours of the night/morning) I always remind myself "this won't kill you, it will just make you WISH you were dead for a few hours." Honestly, until I just read his obituary, it never occurred to me that yeah, maybe it CAN kill you.
