  1. Same! I didn't like any of the final contestants, but it was sooooo satisfying to see Corey come in at the BOTTOM of the final three! I thought for sure he'd at least wind up in the final two, so I was pleasantly surprised by that. There's a big difference between being confident in your abilities and an arrogant prick. Even Preston didn't annoy me as much as this guy. Don't care about the top two contestants. This was such a spectacularly dumb slapdash show. Agree with the critique posted above that it would have been much better using the same format as School of Chocolate - which I thoroughly enjoyed. I really think show runners of competition series need to be a lot smarter, as viewers immediately see through artificially manufactured drama.
  2. Bingo! I would never buy one for that reason, and then as we saw from the insane insurance quote, there's also the issue of fire. No thank you. Not that it's ever going to be an option for me anyway Lol.
  3. I've now binged the whole enchilada. I can't stand Nicole, but Chrishell should never have thrown that comment out - it reflects really badly on HER, not Nicole. She should have taken the high road. I'm confused as to what Nicole's supposed beef is actually about - it sounds like Chrishell didn't take any commission from the disputed co-listings, so what is her problem? Sounds like she just wanted to continually pick at her because she wound up in a relationship with Jason. I'm really not liking Chrishell as much this season, and I'm a bit sad that she and Mary have drifted apart. I kind of thought Bre would be another Christine, but so far I'm actually liking her -she's been straightforward, and she actually dresses a hell of a lot more professionally than the other women in the office (a low bar, I know). Chelsea is even more annoying than ever this season. I'm sure her tiff with Bre is manufactured for the cameras because it's nonsensical. Of all the homes this season, I did like the beach house right on the Strand the best - my idea of California living, not some mausoleum that is about to slide off of a hillside or burn up in a brushfire. That baby of Heather's cannot come soon enough. So sick of everyone fawning over her belly. WTF is with all of the stupid gloves this season? And Mary's obsession with Vivienne Westwood jewellery? So very concerned for Amanza - someone facing serious real life problems. That poor woman can't catch a break. So, when does the next season start?
  4. Yep! I just read a re-cap in Rolling Stone of the final episode (which is amusing and recommended). The author described Schwartz as Sandoval's "Renfield", and that, pretty much hilariously nails it as far as I'm concerned!
  5. The outfits have gotten even more porny and ridiculous this season - I didn't think that was possible. I can't believe how boring and monotonous architecture in the 20 mil and up bracket manages to be. Boy Chelsea is sure insecure right off the bat with the new Bree chick. Why haven't we seen Nicole before if she's a long-standing agent? I guess they needed someone new to fight with Chrishell. I wonder which one of them is lying about their prior co-listing issues. Even though they just got hitched, I don't think Chrishell and her new mate are going to last. I think it's a mid-life crisis thing for her.
  6. I'm not usually a Scheana fan, but she absolutely nailed it when she was tearing a strip off of Sandoval. Big applause. Sandoval's various faux crying fests & hyperventilating breakdowns were hilarious. Master thespian at work there!
  7. The opposing teams being able to critique one another is so unbelievably dumb to me. As if they're going to be impartial - everyone nitpicks and criticizes the opposing team's dishes as much as they can - there is absolutely no point to it. Was really glad to see Cory go. He was among the asshattiest of the asshats. Pride goeth before a fall and all that.
  8. I was really relieved that the letter home didn't contain bad news. The little cow drawing kind of made me tear up. The pastoral farm scenery is indeed gorgeous. Can't wait for Fred's wedding!
  9. Not sure why I keep watching this show - I think mainly for the lovely scenery & shots of the villa. The concept of the show is completely off - we want to see the best cooks win, not Survivor Florence. If there were contestants I could root for, I wouldn't be hate watching, but they all fall into two camps: either passive and afraid to take charge, or overconfident controlling asshats. None of them seem very competent in the kitchen. I agree with other posters above that the show creators probably just made shit up on the fly and and didn't have a clear concept of what they were doing. Gabe is a pleasant co-host and makes the judging sessions a little more bearable. I didn't realize Alex's background was in French cooking rather than Italian. I have mostly seen her on other competitive shows such as Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay, and haven't minded her on those, as her feedback has been balanced and constructive. On this show, she's just awful - not merely mean, but a bitch on wheels. I feel like she's not critiquing the food, but rather taking enjoyment out of making the contestants feel small. It's very unpleasant to watch. I think there are only two more eps to go, so I guess I'll finish it out, but I think this is a one and done series. Not great.
  10. I heard that too! But I was too lazy to re-wind and verify. Very telling slip.
  11. Good Lord, these people are all beyond ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I hate them all. Schwartz is a wimp, Katie is a hateful sourpuss, and Ra(q)chel is clearly getting off on inserting herself where she doesn't belong. Katie's Mom reminds me of the Jigsaw puppet from the "Saw" movies. Ra(q)chel pumping Ariana for info on her sex life with Sandoval was awful. She may indeed be a sociopath. Sandoval with his lightning-bolt necklace and stupid white nail polish is driving me up the wall. Arianna's life is going to be SO much better without that tool-bag. The sandwiches looked pretty good.
  12. I have to say, those robes looked super comfy! It was amusing watching Sandoval get grilled and trip up on his stories!
  13. I thought that was incredibly weird as well! I could understand bringing a friend with you for support if you were expecting some sort of dire health diagnosis and didn't have family around for support, but fertility stuff seemed way too personal to have a buddy just tagging along. Clearly the Toms should have been married to one another long ago. Loved it when Ally told James to shut up! I think James has been indulging in more than alcohol. I wish Lala would shut up. I disliked Charli when she first appeared on the show, but she's slowly been growing on me lately.
  14. Lots to comment on, but I can't remember much, other than Sandoval continues to be douchey. Was also surprised that Schwartz called him out about not being available to put in work on the restaurant. They are both such losers. I don't understand the embryos thing with Ariana either. I'm sure she's probably relieved it it didn't go any further than it did. Katie's new guy Satchel. Oh lord, he looked like a cross between Weird Al Yankovic and Kenny G. I kept expecting him to pull out an accordion or tenor sax. RIP Rose, you were a cute mini horse.
  15. This was the first Oscars show in ages where I felt entertained and happy for all the winners. Props to Jimmy Kimmel for keeping things moving along, and some genuinely funny quips throughout. Even if I wasn't necessarily rooting for a particular movie, I felt so happy for everyone who won, because they all gave genuinely heartfelt (rather than annoyingly gushy) speeches, and just seemed like all-round good people! The Directing Daniels were delightful whenever they were at the podium, and I loved the adorable winner for Best Song belting out his own rendition of a Carpenter's tune! The donkey was ridiculously cute, and the Cocaine Bear/Elizabeth Banks pair-up was hilarious. As a Canadian, I was so happy to see Sarah Polley pick up an adaptation award, and Brendan Fraser get a win. Even most of the dresses were beautiful. Honestly, the Oscars is usually a big snarkfest for me, but there wasn't anything mockable about this show - it felt like a really nice celebration of the movies, with lots of nice deserving people winning!
  16. BINGO! That, in a nutshell, is why there has been so much reaction from viewers. Ain't nobody letting Flat-iron off the hook, is just that no one is surprised by his behavior. Ra(q)chel, on the other hand really put on a good show - I admit being completely fooled by her. I honestly believed she was a sweet harmless dim-bulb, and had no idea she was that calculating and devious. I'm still questioning whether this whole plot twist is manufactured, as the show was kind of in the toilet and people weren't really paying much attention anymore. Suddenly it's all over the media. However, I can't imagine anyone deliberately taking that kind of hit to their image, so I dunno.
  17. I don't know who this Kristina woman is but I LIKE her! She needs to be featured more! Oliver looks so much like Garcelle - same smile. Poor dude seemed like he was going to eaten alive by the entire table. Ra(q)chel was being an flirty asshole, but it was hilarious watching Lala get all steamed because she wasn't the chosen one. And that preview for next week - yikes! I genuinely felt bad for Katie when her Mom was sticking up for her and trying to convey how painful the divorce has been, and Ra(q)chel just sat there blankly. Really feeling bad for Arianna re: her pet dog. It was a whole new layer of appalling watching flat-iron Tom describing how much he was supporting her in her time of need as they headed to the vet. Riiiiiight... It really is fun close-watching this for clues and crazy subtext!
  18. There's still one more episode? I honestly thought this was the last one for the season.
  19. I hadn't been following entertainment news for the past couple of days, so when I logged on earlier today, holy smokes! Whether it's manufactured or not, all I can say is THAT was NOT on my chucklehead SURly staff bingo card for this season! The editing monkeys are going to be BUSY for the next few weeks trying to reintegrate footage into the show. Satan Andy has probably been doing a victory dance in his living room all weekend. Wish we could just fast-forward straight to the reunion. Because I'm cynical, I'm kind of wondering if the whole storyline isn't a massive ploy for publicity. A lot of things about the current season haven't made much sense - the whole Scheana stirring the pot and pushing Raquel toward Schwartz seemed illogical and clumsy. Some have theorized that the whole thing was a cover story, but I don't think these goobers are bright enough to pull that sleight of hand off for that long. If it isn't all a big ratings grab fake-out, miss Raquel (or is it Rachel?) certainly had me fooled. I sort of agreed with Katie's description of her as "cotton candy in human form", and was rooting for her to get away from James. I didn't realize she had been an avid watcher of the show before she started appearing. I REALLY want to hear more about the rumoured black eye! I've always sort of liked Arianna, but as the saying goes, how you got 'em is how you lose 'em. Both Sandoval and Ariana engaged in some major gaslighting with Kirsten Doute while they were starting up their relationship. I never liked Kirsten, but it was mean, and perhaps a bit of karma coming back to bite them. I love how Sandoval is going online and begging people not to punish the staff at his businesses (if that's what you can call them). Too bad he didn't think about that before he started messing around with miss Bambi.
  20. The Vegas stuff was truly uninteresting, and I hope they don't decide to spend more time there next season. I want to look at a variety of homes for sale, not piles of dirt. Agree. That type of home just looks like an ugly re-jigged shopping mall to me. It's incredibly monotonous to look at week to week. I don't care how fancy the finishes are - they all look identical. But clearly there's a market, because that's all that seems to get built at the ultra high-end. Yeah, I fail to see the appeal. It's why I've always been puzzled by the apparent popularity/prestige "Bird" streets in LA. Ugly modern homes crammed together in a sem-permanent construction zone.
  21. I liked this episode overall - and I liked Ellie much more this episode as well. Both young actresses did a great job. The whole episode I was on pins and needles, waiting to see how Ellie got bitten. One thing I found odd was that the shopping mall looked more like it was from 1983 than 2003. Were arcades still a thing in malls 20 years ago? I was also trying to remember if Esprit was still around in 2003 - that seemed like such a quintessential 80's store. Maybe they were trying to poke at multi-generational nostalgia buttons and encompass multiple eras. It's strange seeing such a cultural behemoth from my growing up years depicted as an ancient relic from the past (which it definitely is now). Thanks to @all fall downfor posting that link to the lullaby version of "Just Like Heaven" - that is a lovely rendition. I never cared much for The Cure when I was a teen, but I did like that one, along with "Pictures of You". I was shuddering during that scene - all I could think of was all the additional bacteria that were going to be introduced to Joel's wound.
  22. I was really bored this episode. I really don't want to spend an hour looking at gravel roads, dirt, and half-built construction sites. There was a snippet in the episode where Heather clearly stated that she wasn't able to come to the site because she had work. I don't get it. I'm assuming it was a fake storyline for drama. Ugh. Josh just gets worse and worse. I'm so disappointed, because I genuinely liked him when I first started watching this show (admittedly very late to the party). I'm not a huge Tracy fan, but she was absolutely right to say enough is enough. I hope Andrew dumped him.
  23. Yes, THIS. It's why I'm finding this show interesting to watch. When people are struggling for basic survival, no one gets to have the moral high ground. Everyone is on shifting sand dunes.
