  1. So he's going to be bitter for the rest of his life? Sometimes life sucks and you can't always get what you want. He built a new career in his 70s and 80s, something most people never do. I used to follow his Facebook page, until I realized it was just him (or his husband or staff) reposting stuff rather than original thoughts.
  2. That makes me sad for George. He's developed a great third or fourth act (let's face it, he's way past a second act), so why does he have to continue to hold a 55-year-old grudge? If he couldn't bear to say congratulations, then why not remain quiet?
  3. Why would Dottie move in with them and be reduced to living in one room? Did they drop the story of Kemi and Chukwuemeka looking for a surrogate to bear grandchildren for his mother? That's what I thought was being set up in that situation.
  4. I'll watch this episode again at some point when I feel up to it, but kudos to all the actors. I don't know if they're mostly sitcom actors, but damn, they've got some set of dramatic chops. Also, a special shout out to the actress playing Al's sister. She had to convey her terror and the chaos on Afghanistan just from her voice alone.
  5. Maybe they're screwing the delivery person on the tip. I really haven't paid that much attention to the commercial.
  6. I think Upstate New York. For some reason I want to say near Fort Ticonderoga, given the Revolutionary War ghost. The premise is that these people died in the house or on the grounds, yes? The Viking doesn't make sense, and neither do the flapper and the Wall Street guy (I think she'd have been more likely to die in Harlem and him somewhere out in the Hamptons). The wife better find a way to determine a ghost from a living, because it's already a tired trope that she keeps confusing the two.
  7. I hate that commercial. Is Elton John that hard up for money? And the bizarre creature with him is also a "singer"? The most offensive part of the commercial is them crying that they don't have the money to pay for their food. Looks like the "little guy" gets screwed once again by the elite.
  8. Well, it wouldn't be a Bob's Burgers episode if there was no mention of Linda pooping. Blech. At least there was no Teddy. I thought this was pretty weak. The spoof on what I assume was "I Know What You Did Last Summer" could have been good, but it wasn't. I thought that when the sisters showed up at the first guy's house, he was going to reveal he got a letter too, and we'd go on from there. Instead, it was pretty lame. Linda has done more damage to Gayle by trying to protect her than if she let Gayle fail on her own. Also, Gayle should be in therapy multiple times a week. I don't find mental illness to be funny, and Gayle's beyond quirky. This is why I was a fan of the Gayle/Mr Frond pairing. Give the woman a win for once. Those packages of candy didn't look that big. How was Bob able to give so much to the trick-or-treaters? Since he scored the last three bags, doesn't that mean many other houses got the same candy? Did Bob make Candy Randy's list? Also, is trick-or-treating to businesses a thing? We never went beyond our neighborhood.
  9. Wheelchair users are mobile; that's the point of someone with mobility issues using one. There was part of an episode last season where Dottie was in the process of closing her house to sell it and move in with Bob. There were some nice scenes between Dottie and Christine as they went through old belongings.
  10. I don't think it was great, but I'll be back to see how it develops. I think there are too many characters, especially since they seem to be always together.
  11. Sturgis is OK, so I can take him only in small doses. But I agree that the George, Georgie, and Missy are the reasons I watch. I can't stand Connie either most of the time. Connie deserves whatever she gets. She's nasty to George all the time. She blames him for knocking up her baby girl and 17 years later still holds a grudge. And she's nasty about him not only to his face, but she belittles him to his children. That's unforgivable.
  12. At the end of the episode, Dottie comes looking for Abishola and demands to be put in her bathing suit so she can go in the hot tub. Will Abishola still be her private nurse? Will Bob still pay her? It won't be fair to her if she more has to take care of her mother-in-law right at the start of her marriage. Apparently, Dottie still needs the services of a nurse.
  13. I only just watched the season finale in preparation for the season premiere this week. I knew it would be a gut wrencher and it was. That scene of Al and Riley in the car was powerful. I work for an organization that trains service dogs for disabled veterans, and I've had conversations with so many of the veterans that go like that: they believe they shouldn't be getting a dog because someone else needs it more, or they resisted getting help from the VA for the same reason. I'm pretty sure the series has an unbroken record for making me tear up at least once every episode (and I'm already a wreck at the previews for season 2). (And to take a break for completely shallow reasons, but dayum, Parker Young keeps getting finer and finer. More walking around in boxers and a tight tank tee, please.)
  14. Testify! And I like Shatner as Kirk. I've thought that for years. She was a disaster as the anchor of the CBS evening news.
  15. I agree. I like Abishola too. I think she has a very dry wit and has had to be guarded her entire life and be strong for others. Bob is willing to let her be her. I think @joanne3482' 's comment hits the nail on the head: Abishola has probably never had free reign to decorate as she wanted. When she recounts the story of spending time in the cafe in Morroco, you could hear the joy in her voice. I'm really enjoying how Goodwin and Kofo have been integrated into the family scenes too.
  16. I've enjoyed the previews I've seen so far, so I'm looking forward to this.
  17. As far as the show has shown, Gayle (I didn't realize that was how it was spelled) and Frond had only one date. I just thought they were well-suited for each other. I like the idea of two losers finding love. Ugly produce does not mean it's not quality food, just that it's not aesthetically pleasing. Kind of the produce equivalent of having a "nice personality." ;-) Tina has the friends she deserves. Let's not forget that she has perved on boy after boy after boy and stalked Jimmy Jr. to the point where he was uncomfortable. She's acted inappropriately and she may see herself as Tammy's victim, but she gives it right back to Tammy too. I think he's just clumsy and knocks them down because he misjudges the distance to leap over the hurdles and as he falls, the hurdle hits him in the crotch.
  18. To be fair, out of four seasons, new BSG had two and a half good ones. I think it starts to go downhill after the Galactica rescues the humans from the Cylon occupation of New Caprica. I was just watching "33," the series first episode after the pilot, and it really is excellent. I remember being shocked at their decision regarding the Olympic Carrier and knew we were in for a rough ride.
  19. When Lazlo left last season and became Jackie Daytona, did he also carry soil from the old country to use around his bed?
  20. Overall, the Star Trek Continues series is pretty good, and it does feel like a continuation of years 4 and 5 of the five-year mission. Vic Mignogna is convincing as Capt. Kirk from the get-go, but it took a little time for me to get used to the other actors in their roles. They added a counselor character (borrowed from TNG). I think they're worth the time, and it's one of the better fan series.
  21. To be fair, I cried at Bob and Abishola's wedding too. 😀 People cry when they're happy and when they're sad. Weddings are an emotional time and often a mix of both happy and sad. Edited to add: Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing as Abishola and her bridesmaids entered?
  22. I watched "Mirror, Mirror" recently on Hulu. For me, it's one of the best episodes of TOS ever. I just love alternate history/timeline stories, and this fit the bill, from the crazy uniforms to the different beam-up patterns, to one of the few times Uhura had a larger role to play. To follow it up, I watched the Star Trek Continues fan series episode "Fairest of Them All," which is a direct sequel to "Mirror, Mirror" that takes place in the mirror universe. There are some issues with the episode, but overall, I thought it worked really well as a sequel. Star Trek Continues: "Fairest of Them All"
  23. I thought this episode was pretty awful all around. First off, why did they abandon Mr. Frond and Gail? I liked that those two losers might make a go of it. Because if he's not with Gail, then Mr. Frond should be gay. I'm tired of episodes that focus on the Belchers' bodily functions. If it's not Linda pooping everywhere, it's Gene farting or burping or whatever he can expel from his body, or Tina's excessive sweating or that god awful groaning. Only a few episodes ago, she hated her "friends" for making fun of Bob's midnight movie, but now they're all thick as thieves again. The ugly produce story line was stupid too. Why were they giving it away? Why wasn't Bob using it for things he was cooking? Then who cares what it looks like? That's the whole purpose of "ugly produce" movement. The only time Bob seemed to use the produce for its intended purpose was when he made the side salad for Teddy's burger.
  24. I disagree. Every year, we trot out the video footage, we replay the stories over and over. We did forget were the lessons we should have learned. We forgot how to be united.
