  1. That's actually a great idea. Show classic episodes in the meantime. And I mean "real" classic episodes, not episodes from last November.
  2. I haven't seen The Simpsons in years, but I remember that Lisa Simpson used to read a Tiger Beat-type magazine called "Non-Threatening Boys". I think of that when I see JFP and her peculiar brand of *dreamboat*. Look at the blissful look on her face! She probably has pictures of them taped in her locker!
  3. I have no idea who Guza is, but I'll chant, too, if it helps! WELCOME BACK, GLOWLIGHTS!!!
  4. I freaking LOVED EastEnders, but our local PBS station stopped carrying it back in the early 1990s because the BBC wanted too much money for it and it would have consumed most of their budget. BBC America started carrying it, but our one cable company did not offer BBC America at the time. Imagine my excitement when they DID decide to add BBC America to the channel line-up! But that was precisely the moment when BBC America stopped showing EastEnders. Really. BBC America shows Star Trek, but not EastEnders...? Anyway, pearlite describes it perfectly. The characters are really richly-drawn and fleshed out, stories move at a pretty brisk pace, and it's all rooted in reality. No SORAS-ing that I can remember...kids grew up in real time. There's also very little telegraphing...lots of shocks and surprises. And yes, it's very very gritty. I was totally hooked. Who knows how or if any of those qualities show up on Y&R? I don't think they'd all work here, but some of them would definitely help the show.
  5. Oh my gods...I'd never been on twitter before, and now I know why. Aside from being totally asinine, it's an even bigger timesuck rabbit hole than the interwebs in general. Luca tweeted new guy, too, in ass-licking fashion. The actor smarms just like his character.
  6. I don't know how to do a screen capture, so I'll just quote this twit's tweet manually: " @malyoung Congrats Mal. I excited to go on this journey with you. I trust you buddy! Let's do it! " Was an apostrophe and an "m" going to push him over his 180 character limit? Wow...presumptuous mother-fucker, isn't he? I really hope the only journey he goes on is the one back to Port Charles.
  7. The closed captioning is hilarious (yet it must be incomprehensible if you have to rely on it). "Mr. Abbott" turns into "missed a rabbit"!
  8. I've heard from movinon, and she's doing ok. Abstaining from coffee and wodka per doctor's orders is making her cranky, but ok otherwise. She's been very busy and hasn't had time to read posts, so she's very behind. She also said she's owes notes to some of you, but just hasn't had time. Hope that eases some worries!
  9. Isn't MTS' husband named Ed Scott, and they met on YR back in the day? He's at B&B now, but he's not an EP. Maybe he's due for a promotion? (As an aside, I have to admit that I don't really understand most of the various titles and the duties associated with them, nor the hierarchal structure of tv shows...everything I do know, I learned from you guys!)
  10. I don't know much about him at all or what he's responsible for. I just meant that it would appear that bringing in an outsider, in general, could mean that they don't want to keep going to the same incestuous pool. So that could be positive. ??
  11. May 2 was also the last time I've heard from her. I'm hoping it's just the grandkids. She's said she doesn't have time to post when they're with her, and don't schools in Texas start summer vacation in mid-May?
  12. Priceless! The middle picture in the bottom row needs to be submitted to one of those 365 Dogs calendars. Or top right. Aw, hell, send them all!
  13. Maybe it's different this time. CBS likes to be able to brag about being "#1 in Daytime since 1492!" and all that crap. Perhaps they're starting to realize what they have and that they need to protect it. Bringing in the EastEnders guy could be a sign that they're looking for new blood.
  14. I also just remembered...the last time she contacted me, she was having some technical issues with the upgrades.
  15. Maybe she has her grandkids more often for the summer break?
  16. It would be better if HK were let go altogether so they could recast Summer. I think she's the reason the character is so loathsome. A capable actor might be able to make her relatable and sympathetic instead of gratingly annoying. Right now, there's such a disconnect between what everybody says about Summer and what we see. It's the same problem we're experiencing with "charming and handsome" Billy Munster.
  17. How long does it take before these kinds of "Blind Items" have their miraculous retinitis pigmentosa surgery and become "Sighted Items"? I want to know what's going on, dammit!
  18. Oh fuck. Fuck fuck fuckity fuck. I hadn't bothered to read that article about Chloe's return and just assumed she would only be back for a couple of days, like she did the last time. But it says she's back for real. <sigh> I wonder if she's the one who's framing Adam? It would make no sense at all, since she didn't even know Sage, nor does she have the resources to make any of that happen. So, of course, that must be it.
  19. That sounds like a dream! I've never been, but it's always near the top of my "must visit" list.
  20. So sorry, crosby. It baffles me that, with everything we can do and all of this technology at our disposal (a lot of it totally useless), that we still don't have a cure for cancer.
  21. I'm not really a fan (no pun intended) of hot, muggy weather. Spring and Fall are more my speed. A friend of mine has a theory that people tend to prefer the time of year they were born. I was born a week before Christmas, and I've always liked when it gets dark at 5pm. So maybe there's something to that theory!
  22. I do agree with this. It seems to me that they're writing this story with a different actor in mind, and I think that actor is Billy Miller. I hate to keep bringing up his name, since he's been gone for two years now, but all of this writing is tailor-made to his strengths. I even find myself imagining him saying the same things that inanimate JT says, and it isn't quite so nauseating. JT simply has no charm, no spirit, no energy. You need those qualities to pull off this kind of heinous story. Even in real life, I think people tend to excuse some bad behavior from otherwise likable people. Remember when PretendBilly (hat tip to Petunia!) tried to recreate the St. Patrick's Day magic, and somebody posted photos of the original St. Pat's scene next to the retread version for an easy comparison? Even in screen captures, the difference was astounding...one had a twinkle in the eye, the other had scowls and storm clouds. Like it or not, Billy Miller's Billy was a lovable scoundrel, and it was easy to understand why the people in his life would forgive his fuck-ups. I thought BuJ had a degree of this, but not as much as BM. JT is the antithesis of "lovable scoundrel". He's too flat, too monotonous, and takes himself way too seriously to make any of it believable.
  23. Speaking of the Patented Prevert Positive Energy, how's your dad, miamama? Still on the mend?
  24. There's been too much Dummer this week and it's rubbing off on me...what does "LMS" mean?
  25. It sure would be nice if the Healthcare Industrial Complex would do the test as soon as possible whether or not they think it's serious, just to avoid weeks of needless anxiety. I hope you find lots of wonderful things to do and enjoy and keep your mind occupied in the meantime. And, of course, I join my merry band of Preverts as we rally and send you our healing positive vibes, Ninja!
