  1. Oh my god, I’m rolling! I truly appreciate his sense of humor.
  2. Loved, loved, loved Stephen’s skewering of MTG’s valorizing of Anglo-Saxon culture! The general historical scene painting and the Beowulf reference were great, but my favorite was him pointing out that Anglo-Saxon culture also came from mass migrations of people fleeing bad conditions.
  3. Well, that sent me off to bed freaked out by the raccoon feeding frenzy. Yikes! Let’s hope Senator Warren can work some legislative magic. I wonder if bankruptcy reform should have been part of the big covid relief bill, as it would be a relief for a lot of people indebted by the pandemic. I cannot get over how bad the Canadian Olympian outfits are. Total ‘80s flashback, but not in a good way...
  4. I loved everything about the John Oliver interview. Riffing about Seth’s accent work, stories about standup days and other old jobs, politely stated but pointed digs at Prince Philip, football league standings... I missed the heck out of Seth and this was a complete delight.
  5. I didn’t need Rachel to repeatedly apologize for the swearing. Does she have to cut away because her network can’t air curse words? Sure. But people are understandably upset that a kid got killed. If viewers can watch video footage of people getting killed, they can deal with some well earned swear words on a late hour news show.
  6. That is usually the case. The Department of Veterans Affairs pays a monthly stipend to family caregivers for disabled veterans, but there’s not a program for regular citizens with family caregivers.
  7. Truly, all I want to hear about Matt Gaetz anymore: “I’m sure there’ll be a lot more to say about it when he goes to prison.” When John said he was going to cover nursing homes and assisted living centers, I thought, “Rats, I wanted to hear more about home-based care.” And he covered that too! The VA has been moving in the right direction on that, and I’m glad Biden wants funding for it, too. Of course John bought the Wolf plate. Of course he did!
  8. I would agree, except Schitt’s Creek won and I can’t argue with that. Ted Lasso’s next season, though, I will be fully behind them sweeping every award!
  9. I”m super impressed with John’s very specifically on-point observations about Bridgerton, including that it’s in character for the Duke to start something he doesn’t finish!
  10. I also love that Troi gets to be super-competent in Timescape. And I can never resist Voyage Home (especially because I lived in San Francisco in the ‘80s!) and Trials and Tribble-ation.
  11. https://mobile.twitter.com/LilNasX/status/1378552370192285697 😂
  12. My niece literally told me this week she’s waiting to make sure there’s not an I Am Legend situation—side effects that show up later. I’m guessing Salt Bae was a cut for time? It was definitely good enough to have been in the show!
  13. Right? I even like Colbert’s aviator glasses and, “C’mon, Jack!” impression. It’s not that hard.
  14. Goldangit, I don’t have Butternut! I’m relying on Seth to find out whether Lise and Adabell figure out what’s going on with Packer.
  15. Not only did Seth completely indulge me the very next week, they just posted a compilation on YouTube. I am freaking loving the pandemic version of the show.
  16. 80% of the people who have died of covid are 65+, so yeah, that entire song was super tasteless. Also the constant age jokes about Biden, who so far is looking like the most progressive president since FDR. The NFT video, on the other hand, was outstanding! Pete is crushing it with his rap videos. I also liked the Barfly Awards, The Shining parody (LOLed at Maya skipping over Kevin Spacey’s photo!), and I’m a complete sucker for The Breakfast Club references. Other than the Biden age jokes I liked WU. No kidding, there nothing well-regulated about current militias. They actually do ask for two personal references on the gun permit application in New Zealand, so Colin’s suggestion isn’t as out there as it sounds. Cecily’s Sidney Powell Joker face was appropriately insane. And Bowen — ❤️❤️❤️
  17. Wow. If Manchin is wondering where the scorch marks on his suit came from... I haven’t heard Rachel that blisteringly angry in a while, and good for her.
  18. Same! Especially his outraged, “Scollins!!!” Not gonna lie, I 100% thought the goat kids joke was Karen’s. I love that someone else branched out into wholesome cuteness territory.
  19. Yes, I love Tiny Secret Whispers! And his rambles about the rules of the Ocean Master board game. And the way he ribs his joke writers (and Wally) by name. And the ridiculous Corrections segments on YouTube. Basically, I love all the asides where he’s just talking to his staff-audience and it’s 90% silliness.
  20. Hmmm. Maybe 07.09 from last April, when he pilloried the news outlets spreading misinformation (like misrepresenting the “19” in covid-19), fueling really idiotic protests. It was timely, on point, and righteously infuriating. (Also featured, the hilarity of Wendy Williams and John calling for an entire menagerie of cats.)
  21. He did have a show on MSNBC. His views are more libertarian and isolationist than Bush’s more conventional internationalism and conservatism, so I imagine that would describe his differences.
  22. I’m used to two minutes on Tucker with a pointed preppie epithet. Hearing his BS the whole segment was *shudder* What was this week’s intro graphic? It was “Snackus Maximus” with what looked like someone feeding a man a large cookie—I don’t know what it referred to. Loved the 100 year old lady whose future aspiration is “breathing”!
  23. This has been on my list since the NPR critics gave it rave reviews and I finally binged it. I fell in love immediately just from the video of Ted dancing with his college football kids, and it only got better from there. Hannah Waddingham is A. Maz. Ing. From the start she was great as the woman wronged who at least got to take out the misogynistic trash of the previous coach. Even when her evil plan was revealed I couldn’t entirely hate her. She completely owned the screen in that scene where Acting masterclass. (Anthony Head is gorgeous as hell but, my god, Rupert is an arsehole.) If that was really her voice singing Let It Go, I’m floored. Hannah was also a presence in Sex Education as one of Jackson’s mothers—what a hell of a range. I love Keeley. I love Roy. I LOVE Keeley+Roy. I love Beard and Nate and Higgins and Dani and Mae and the peanut gallery in her pub... I love to hate Jamie Tarrt (and his Baby Shark theme song), yet still empathize with how his father caused him to turn out the way he is. I hope the high school girl Ted would spar with in the street shows up in future seasons. I’m so glad there will be more!
  24. It freaked the H. E. double toothpicks out of her when the CDC guidelines for meatpacking plants got watered down. (Rightly so—that level of political interference in public health is unprecedented, at least in my lifetime.) So I think it’s a combination: making sure doctors/scientists know they have a place to come if they need to blow the whistle, and showing the audience that she’s not going to play favorites based on R or D. Her show will always work to get the true science news out, no matter which administration puts it out.
  25. I’m dying at Michael Shannon Roadrunner!
