  1. It's worth mentioning that not only does she mention it was from 2005, but that she only had the 1040 Form. Those materials were then available far before she made the revelation. If one wanted to see them while she was providing context-- and my God why do people hate contextualization-- one could do that on multiple sites. All I keep hearing is: "Why does anyone care about a burglary at the Watergate?" The election already proved there's no smoking gun. For some reason that defies my understanding, folks believed Rachel possessed one. Anyone that believed she had every schedule and attachment was incredibly naive. Trump immediately became defensive and we learned how quickly he can release detailed tax information. Not any help to him. He's crafting tax policy while his finances remain opaque. The more we know, the better. Whatever sliver it might be. This is Ermattungskrieg.
  2. Agreed. It's strikes me as strange that every time a new bad detail comes out regarding Trump people's first instinct is to label it a distraction from another bad detail about Trump. He's not playing 3-D chess, he's just an unsavory dude. Rachel sent out two tweets , one stating exactly what she had, and everyone took it and ran as if she was going to finally reveal how to use the three seashells in Demolition Man. She didn't hype it up, viewers and pundits did and then raced to call her Geraldo at the vault afterwards. It was certainly a big enough deal for the White House and every other news outlet to attempt to scoop her by providing details before her show aired. A burglary at the Watergate complex wasn't a big deal until it was a big deal after all.
  3. Back and forth retaliation is all fair game until it comes to lies. If I put out something about you that is true, put something out about me that is true. Making up something egregiously criminal and abominable is taking it to a new level. And "sticks and stones" is something that sounds cute looking at it from a distance and not being involved, but in reality someone making an allegation about attempting to drug, abduct and rape them to all of ones co-workers on national television, and Lord knows who she has spread that to in Atlanta, isn't something one is likely to idly sit by and let happen. It's slander, not shade. Anyway, I came back to post this screenshot Porsha provided of the text conversation so we could all get a clear read of it. Interesting that a) she thinks the texts help her and b) her casual use of the word rape.
  4. Being angry over being accused of attempting to drug, abduct and sexually assault someone isn't shocking. In fact, I'd say that would be a pretty normal reaction to have if falsely being accused of such. Kandi should be outraged. Porsha admitted during the conversation that she was less than truthful about kissing Kandi and offering to give her cunnilingus, that alone diminishes Porsha's credibility incredibly. I believe that Kandi and Todd might have propositioned Porsha. At the very least we know Porsha has heard of Kandi and Todd propositioning other women, which I believe they have admitted to doing before. It doesn't seem to me that it was at the same event that Porsha propositioned Kandi. I want to say there are two different events here that aren't clear. Either she was propositioned sometime after she kissed Kandi and offered her services, or she wanted to center herself and claim that she was propositioned and therefore kissed Kandi and offered her services. If I were to take a guess, Phaedra and Porsha talked about one of these instances in a gossipy sort of way and one of them joked, "Ooooh, they tried to get you drunk and take you home chile, you sure they didn't slip you a mickey?" some bullshit shade like that and it has been created into this lie.
  5. I've been watching this show since the Cycle 1 premiere on UPN back in the day and I don't think the show has ever looked as low budget as it has this season. I've got to give it to Tyra, she knew how to produce a photoshoot on the cheap in Cycles 1 & 2 before she got the Covergirl budget. I mention that because how incredibly basic and uninspired the shoots have been besides the grocery store. And the photos aren't at all good which makes it all the worse. I don't understand why they had Cody do Grace Jones and Tash do Tina Turner. From a styling perspective, it doesn't make sense at all. One could have easily added a little length on top of Tash's hair (Lupita Nyong'o does this all the time) and shape up the sides and spray the blond black and it would have looked much more realistic and high end. Instead, they give Cody-- who has thin looking tracks on her head-- a hideous, an absolutely hideous wig. A wig they couldn't even bother to trim and shape. And Tash's Tina Turner styling was no better. They had a Break Every Rule wig which gave Rum Tum Tugger and an outfit from I don't know where and not nearly enough leg. And Tatiana. I detected shade in the styling, I did, but to have the red carpet as the setting complete with a red velvet barrier? They could have chosen a more iconic Tyra look than that. How hard is to find a red with pink polka dot swimsuit? Or if they were going to go with red carpet that hideous purple dress she wore to the Oscars. They could have given Tatiana a black tube top and a stool to stand and hunch over on and done an ode to "Be quiet, Tiffany" with the same wig. I could go on, but I'll stop there. I'll offer that the problem I seemed to have were that some of the looks seemed "inspired by" and others were trying to be replicas and I wish the styling was more consistent throughout. As far as elimination, I don't understand why they're holding onto Coryanne. Paige was much more consistent. The judging has confused me a bit this cycle.
  6. The problem I find with Yolanda's exaggerations (I think they're often outright lies, but whatever) is the specificity she gives to them, but when she's confronted about it, it's a generalization. Saying she is bedridden for 18 months is very specific. She could easily have said a year and a half and there wouldn't be as much scrutiny. Most people understand a year and a half is 18 months, but anything from 16-20 months would be acceptable when someone says "a year and a half." Yolanda, however, wants to be more precise-- to probably sound more credible-- and when it doesn't check out she's experiencing a fog. Specific exaggerations like this muddy the waters when specificity is needed and more reasonable like when talking about her inability to walk she meant great distances like 4-5 miles, not a leisurely stroll, which makes perfect sense. These murky waters, however, are exactly what she wants. I find no purpose for Erika, they might as well have had Yolanda's Lyme advocate seated next to her. I wish she entered the show in a more... not neutral, but as a more open figure. She was basically a surrogate. But I did love that she acknowledged the origins of "pat the puss" as being a dancehall move and didn't let Bravo make her a Miley. I can't be arsed to care about Lisa Rinna and the gymnastics she's going through to pass the buck.
  7. Put Rinna in a room alone with anyone for 5 minutes and she'll start coming over to their way of thinking. Eileen was just the last manipulator before the confrontation.
  8. I was in attendance for this was well. In fact, I thought Robbie mentioning Carol Channing wasn't Black was a sort of subtle hint about it. I hate to step in the Reddit rabbit hole on this forum (I like Reddit, but this isn't Reddit), but several redditors were in attendance at Thorgy's viewing party, and I thought it revealed quite a bit about why the Snatch Game and the runway were so... flat. I won't get too far into it, but it explained-- for me-- Derrick's Top 3 appearance. I hate to say editing, but I will. Editing. We didn't really see the breadth of what went down. This should be one of the episodes they Ru-persize. Anyhow, I came into this season thinking the Sedaris siblings would be the Snatch Game competitors and am now especially disappointed that the weren't. Gigi and Chanel didn't really have any wit. They had producer fed lines. The judges being game and humorous is just as important as the queens to me for this challenge. The lights were on, but no one was home. I'm sad to see Betty go, I was really enjoying her. I especially hate that we'll miss her in the makeover and ball challenges. She had some of the better costuming skills as was evident in her "Bedtime Story" getup, her Neon couture hair, her money ball asymmetrical shoulder/collar, etc.
  9. I'm aware they take the queen's face out (though they know who is who at this point). I'm just wondering why they informed Raja and Raven about the head drip in particular. One could argue other makeups were just as important /integral to the look.
  10. I don't believe the Leigh Bowery-esque drips were an afterthought at all, I believe they were just an effect that had to be added just before the runway. We saw in Untucked and the 10 minute preview for next week that the dripping immediately started drying and cracking under the harsh lights of that runway and talking to the judges, etc. It would have looked a mess if she did it in preparation for the photo rather than for the runway. The same thing happened to MAX and her death becomes her look last year on Fashion Photo Ruview. Raja and Raven thought it looked silly that MAX was holding her heart in her hands and yet her dress was stark white, when the fact of the matter was the photos are taken before the runway and she hadn't yet began the bleeding heart effect. Why they noted this effect but ignored Acid's gill's or Kim's total cubist obliteration of her natural features is unclear to me. That said, I do think Bob has been getting a pass on some of his runway looks. This was the first week I've like Bob's makeup, I could finally see some makeup and an attempt to contour. Prior to this challenge, I thought all of Bob's wigs looked a bit crunchy and the wig lines a mess. If you can't blend and spray, you have to french fry that hair line or bleach the knots and tea dye the lace closure.
  11. Thank you. I think you really helped me arrive at my conclusion of what happened if I believe Lisa Rina's account is true and how they come away with different perspectives. I believe what could have possibly taken place is that Lisa Rinna was ready to gear up and go to battle regarding Muchausen's and went to Lisa and Kyle's girl chat session for reinforcements-- argument ad populum as you said. LVP and Kyle balked at Munchausen's, Lisa Rinna left and when departing, LVP told Rinna, if you want to go for it, include Kyle [not me] in your argument [because I don't want to be included with the Munchausen's accusation]. Kyle was then free to say, and did say, no ma'am, I don't want to be included in your arguments, and if you do, LVP is going to be included. This would come off to Lisa Rinna as LVP "throwing Kyle under the bus," and to LVP as "include Kyle if you want to, but don't put MY name in it, I don't want to be involved in that." Many would argue that's the same thing, but there are subtleties in wanting someone to be included and just not wanted to be included yourself. Kyle was able to not include herself and warn Rinna and LVP against any such suggestion, so there would be no need for her to still be upset.
  12. I agree regarding the lip-sync. "Call Me" wasn't a song that called for flips and dips and tricks and much of it came ff as messy to me. To my eye, Naysha's cartwheels were a lopsided mess and it looked to me that Chi Chi flipped as a sort of response to Naysha's flips at first and then went and tricked out. The lip-sync should have been a bit more seductive and taken more inspiration from their challenge. I call a bit of bullshit on Michelle regarding Derrick's looks. She cited Chad Michaels as someone that was constantly giving different looks, but at the time, Michelle hated that Chad constantly gave different looks and never saw "the real" Chad. "The real" Chad was always an an impersonator, but Michelle never got that. Now that isn't to say Derrick isn't lacking in some areas, but "the real" Derrick Berry makes a living doing Britney and that impersonation is how she got into the drag scene. I also find myself confused as to where Chi Chi is supposed to suddenly come across these show stopping looks. I don't know the timing of the challenges, so I don't know if she could have made something from the fabric wall in time, but otherwise I don't understand what Michelle wants her to do. I found Sharon Needles and Alaska's frocks to be quite cheap during their run, and to be fair, her criticizing it a bit about it at the time, but this instance just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. I preferred Street Meatz.
  13. Well I came with my stick so I could beat the dead horse too. Regarding the Glen situation, the reason why I can't accept anything less than Glen being at fault and am resistant to these attempts at Zaprudian analysis of what Kenya did is because of the naked attempt to completely invalidate Kenya's feelings and Tammy's hospital visit by Sheree and Phaedra attempting to link this incident to BLM. That's well beyond the pale for me and proves what low behavioral expectations many hold for Black men. He was audibly aggressive, hollering, calling the whole group "bitches," and yet, there's this investigation of Kenya. No ma'am. "Well Kenya invited him." And she's allowed to tell him to leave. She can't ask him to go if he's out of line? "Well Kenya liked him." And Kenya is allowed to change her mind. "Well Kenya got rejected and wanted him gone." And Kenya being the hostess is permitted to tell him to leave. Why does Kenya need some excuse for him to leave? He has no right to the space. "Kenya should have let security handle it." Should've, could've, would've, but we're here now, so explain Glen's aggression. Too many equivocations, not enough addressing the rut. Kenya did not turn this into an act of violence (as Phaedra stated in her blog at the time) Glen did. End of.
  14. Absolutely! Where else on the internet would one find relating The Terminator to a show set in late 70s Minnesota and South Dakota? I'm only glad that it managed to make some sort of sense in the end. In a THR interview, Zahn McClarnon mentions how there were supposed to be scenes between him and the Native housemaid, but they never got around to them. How I wish we got to see them relate to one another. The whole interview is a great read by the way.
  15. But Peggy and Ed weren't suddenly escaping murderers. They were escaping murderers and kidnapping a thug because they chose not to seek protective custody, report their hit and run or turn over a criminal to the police. This doesn't dismiss the autonomy of others; however, their actions had predictable consequences, which Lou made them aware of and they chose to ignore. That's not true, we have no idea what would have happened if Sarah had not given birth to John because that would create a whole other timeline of events that we cannot predict. Another leader might have risen and Skynet would have been sent back to kill someone else, or Skynet might have ever been created. What we do know is that John's imminent victory is the proximate cause of sending the Terminator back. This completely ignores the stakes. John and Sarah not getting killed is, as far as they know, in order to save humanity. Peggy and Ed are purely out of a selfish desire not to be brought to justice for the murder they committed. Mmm.
  16. They admired her superior intelligence and deductive abilities, but it's only a case of paternalistic condescension? Operating in and likely being comfortable in the patriarchy does not render everything they say or do insincere. Many people are dead because of Peggy an Ed's actions, this does not make them culpable for homicide in the legal sense, but it does not make it less true. We know Rye was alive after Peggy hit him with her car and left him in the garage. Had he been taken to the hospital and arrested for murder rather than killed and ground up by Ed, the Gerhardt family wouldn't have engaged in an investigation to find his murderer, which brought Dodd and his cronies to their home, which led to Dodd's capture and Hanzee's pursuit, and brought us to the Sioux Falls massacre. Would their still be death? Of course. The Gerhardts were engaging in a gang war, but Peggy and Ed's actions did lead to deaths that might have otherwise not occurred. Acknowledging their actions caused a chain of events that might not have otherwise occurred is not ignoring criminal gangs murdering everyone, it's describing what happened. The Terminator example fails because The Connors are not the people that created the event that causes the rising action. The proximate cause for the rising action takes place in the future and as a result Skynet sends the Terminator in pursuit. Moreover, it's obtuse to say "refusing to let themselves be killed" is what others were relating when saying lots of others are dead because of Peggy & Ed. Clearly, most posters were referring to the hit & run. Now this is much more convincing, but I continue to have trouble deciding when a character raising the stakes begins a new instigation of events. If Rye never tried to bolster his fragile masculinity, if Peggy called the police and an ambulance, if Ed called the police or an ambulance, If the Dakota police didn't attempt some grand scheme to try to snag a bigger fish-- so many moments this could have been de-escalated. I suppose that's just the messiness of humanity.
  17. Despite their abrasiveness , I'm definitely with Courtney and Layla regarding Joe. You're a relatively new trainer with a shoe habit, your favorite watches are Rolexes, you love your Fendi shoes, etc , and all this money is from your businesses? How simple is it to say, I was in real estate or I'm a trust fund baby or I have some stocks I'm invested in, something. Instead you have a sit down with Lindsey humble-bragging about "how no one knows about you, how now one knows that you bought a property in Miami for $300k during the recession and it's now worth $900k." It's a skill being able to completely avoid talking about what you do, but making a point of mentioning how wealthy you are. Regarding Lena's photoshoot. I was on Joe and Noah's side until Holly said something. I definitely understood not wanting to be seen in Adidas products if you're a representative for Under Armour or whatever, and that they needed a bit more information. Still when Holly, Master Trainer for Nike, said it was a little shitty and that she had done things for Noah in the past, I had to tilt my head a bit. There's a lesson in here about the types of people willing to reach back and pull someone else up the ladder and the type who are only concerned about their own ascent. I'll leave it at that.
  18. I certainly wouldn't be upset with a fit bit or a gift certificate to Perfumania if I was in the Wendy audience, it's free. I likely wouldn't wear the fitbit whatever, but I'd regift it in a heartbeat. I also watch The Real where they gave away a box of Maruchan Ramen noodles during the first season, so my expectations are perhaps lower. I don't mind Wendy showing off her clothing line. She'd be an idiot not to. The Wendy Show is a much larger audience and has a further reach than HSN. Where else is she supposed to showcase her goods? Rachel Ray uses her cookware, Martha uses her paint and home improvement hardware Jessica Simpson wears her shoes when I see her on television-- it really doesn't phase me as she does it. I don;t even think the clothes are that bad. I can;t speak to the quality, but they seem like fine pieces I could find in any department store. My grievances against Wendy are her Hot Topics team. I feel like the tea they spill is late and stale or inaccurate and stale. The producers don't seem to keep any sort of fact sheets or notes on the Hot Topics. Wendy is a person who always asks the age, the ex, and the project(s) of anyone she's talking about and they never seem to have this info on hand. It irritates me. And Suzanne. I'm really over her mugging for the camera. I think she believes she comes off as quirky and "fun mom." It just reads a bit desperate for me. As someone who has listened to Wendy since radio and still goes back to listen to clips on YouTube for a giggle, I had to tilt my head a bit and squint at the statement that she didn't change and made it in spite of what the Program Director said. She is far more family friendly and less controversial than her radio show days. I mean "How you doin'?" has completely lost its original meaning. The advice was quite helpful in my opinion.
  19. It seems to me that Angelina is a little too green for the competition. Something about her is uncomposed in a way that denotes not having quite found herself in her food rather than simply muddled like Frances. I thought for sure she was a goner given the edit.
  20. I loved that Emerald City was changed to an 80s dance club/Paris's Ball. I thought that was an incredibly clever choice to imbue a bit more queerness into the scope of Blackness that The Wiz is as a show. This production covered the range of black dance from stepping to street jazz to West African to hip-hop, where else might have they naturally inserted voguing (and I saw Old Way, New Way and Vogue Femme) if not at a queer dance club in the mode of a late 80s ball in Harlem? That's part of the reason I didn't take the gender swap as gimmicky. After all, as Dorothy said regarding the Wizard, "She got a right to choose the way she wants to live." The point of the Wizard is that people in rights movements, and of course when we talk about The Wiz we mean Civil Rights, is that folks want to elect a leader because they're afraid to do the work and engage in the struggle themselves. Pulling back the curtain on the Wizard is pointing out leaders who try to profit from the movement and that in the end, the Wizard is human and fallible and that We can fight for ourselves. "Y'all got it." I don't think that point was missed at all.
  21. Looks like Tamar is out. It was much more dangerous than pneumonia, it seems it was a pulmonary embolism on both sides of her lungs. This is the same thing that happened to her husband Vince and more than likely due to the same cause. It really as made me acutely aware of how much I travel. (I don't travel that much, but the awareness stands.) I watch Braxton Family Values, Tamar & Vince, The Real and, of course, purchase her music, so I'm pretty disappointed; however, my heart would be heavier and more fearful if she continued to dance in this condition.
  22. Whooooooah there. I just want us all to acknowledge that 'Shake Ya Body' was, excuse me, is a classic. Tyra licking that microphone is iconic. 'Shake Ya Body' is a low-key bop. That being said, 'Bootyful' is-- to be kind-- a weak follow-up. One thing I'll give Tyra, however, is that she knows a damn earworm when she hears one. "Work the hallway like a runway!" will have to be exorcised from my memory. Otherwise, what a waste of an episode. There was no point to the comeback. Stefano would have gotten my vote, and I bet he or Justin (who shouldn't have left in the first place) would have made it through to the next round. Still, I appreciate that the episode was an actual modeling task that could occur in the real world. I could get over the lack of international travel if they had to travel to various locations in a short time span late in the competition to complete various model assignments. A two day music video shoot in Vegas, a swimwear campaign in Miami and take the red eye back to LA for a catalogue shoot the next day and then judging-- that would be great.
  23. I feel like someone at some point somewhere thought about Nadja Auermann shot by Helmut Newton for Vogue and realizing that they don't have the budget for decent styling, creative direction, or photography it filtered down to this weak rendition. That's the best guess I've got.
  24. Makeover day, my favorite and least favorite part of the season. I love it because of the drama, I hate it because it continues to prove what an utter farce the American franchise of this show remains. Ava: A mullet?!!!! Even during the mullet's peak, the models of the period didn't wear mullets. Jerry Hall, Lauren Hutton, Janice Dickinson, Paulina Porizkova, Brooke Shields, Carol Alt didn't have mullets. Now their hair might have been stylized to look that way at times, but the point is to have versatility. THe pieces in the front and back aren;t even long enough to style differently. Fashion mullet my ass. Bello: So you give someone who is already too short to be a viable top male model longer hair that emphasizes his lack of height even more? That seemed like a good idea? Mamé: Fine, added some hair no real change and didn't need it. Justin: Fine, trimmed some hair, no real change and didn't need it. Mikey: See above. Dustin: See above. Nyle: See above. Also he's super attractive, but not modelesque. At all. Devin: I would have liked to see his hair the same length in black or dark brown, but the total shave is fine. Hadassah: I was pissed at the makeover more than Hadassah, she SHOULD have been kicking and screaming. What top model, especially black model, today has a shave side of the head? Chanel? Jourdan? Joan? Aya? Malaika, Ajak? Who? That style was for 2012 pop stars and R&B divas. There's really no consideration but humiliation. Ashley: This was an actual improvement. I guess they can only get it wrong so many times. Lacey: Why doesn't anyone want these girls to have versatility? A beginning model can't have a signature cut. Not too early in the game. Folks love to say "What if you needed to do so for a [insert high fashion brand] campaign?" "Linda Evangelista did it." People seem to forget that you get payid tens of thousands of dollars for campaigns which is a much better incentive than a reality show competition. Many also seem to forget that when Linda cut her hair for Peter Lindbergh she was cut from maybe 20 shows as a result, and by then she had already been quite reasonably successful. Courtney: The cut is terrible, the color is terrible, but somehow better than I thought it would be. Stefano: Looked a damn fool. Should have been left alone. First thing I thought the instant I saw it too. Tyra went and gave him the Gosselin swoop bang. Poor thing. I don't think I'll bother with the photos, they were mostly terrible and I've said more than my share. Anyway, when they're mostly terrible I blame the photographer and the creative/artistic director whoever is choosing the photographs. I encourage everyone to watch AusNTM now that seasons 1-7 are on Hulu. The odd numbered seasons are my favorites (though I love six too), they know how to pick a working model.
  25. Another round of applause for getting rid of the social media scoring. While it is true that social media is important to maintaining and propelling a modeling career these days (some contracts even require Instagram posts and tweets) models aren’t chosen that way, it’s agents and bookers and other industry professionals. However, I hate that that even without social media scoring, there are still no judges deliberations. AusNTM uses this system too, but there’s is much more transparent. I said the same exact thing the moment she was cut. I just had to deep sigh and shrug my shoulders. My goodness, Bello is shorter than her. Still, I didn’t want to see Stefano go home either, because though he’s arrogant, he has the look and the height. He needs to learn how to work his face though, when he looked towards the camera all I saw were crazy eyes when I want to guess that he was going for intensity. I though Tyra’s teach was pretty good. It still has her crazypants Tyra-isms, but there were some jewels in there. I’ve long since given up on ever seeing her Cycles 1-3 style teaches again. I think these teaches rub me the wrong way because I feel like they’re the result of budget cuts and constraints rather than the genuine sort of mentorship I thought she, Janice, and Paulina offered before. Mikey and his…. I’ll call them dynamics towards Courtney were a bit unsettling. He can kick rocks in open-toed shoes. Justin for the win.
