Probably because our class just read "If you Give a Moose a Muffin", when I read gonzosgirrl's post "he'll realize he needs the pool table." I immediately began a running list in my head of things Dean will need in the cave. "If you give a hunter a man-cave, he'll realize he needs a pool table." Heh.

Maybe. It could be argued that he did risk the world by killing Death and unleashing the Darkness. He was warned by Death what could happen, and in the end he couldn't kill Sam, so he killed Death. The more I think about your Apocalypse 2.0 theory the more I dread next season. Lucifer comes back, Sam says yes for some dumbass reason, they end up in Detroit and bam it's over. Nine seasons of fighting, blood and angst for nothing. And (at least in my mind) it's all about Mary. "Save mom" has become the newest battle cry that drives Dean, to make up for not being able to save her when he was four? sigh.

Well. So that happened. Huh. If Jack could raise his eyes and make Lucifer tell the truth, why didn't he do that to Nate instead of just going after him, or at least after the trio got there and called him off? I'm too tired and feel too rotten to think too hard about it right now.

After re-watching, I found only a couple of nits to pick. One, Mary saying "I know what you went through to get here (sic)". Really? You do? So you know about Dean's desperation leading him to put a gun to the head of scared teenage girl? You know about love potion witches, and Rowena's failed double cross, dealing with her trying to get her son back from Death? The many, many fights and beatings the guys were in? The toll the frustration has taken on both of them, not to mention the the most recent trauma, Dean watching Sam get attacked and believing him dead--again? You know all this Mary? You don't know dick. Shut up. Second, Raider of the Lost Ark-ripped-off-Cas. Just no. Are they trying to make us hate him? Or turn him into such a joke that he's not even a viable character any more? Ugh. Loved Dean the mechanic, the leader, the relieved big brother, and the subtle nuance on his face when Mary said that stupid, stupid line "I know what you went through...". So talented. Sam trying so hard to keep the relationship he forged with Jack, but being upstaged by Asshat Lucifer, again, subtle but spot on. Overall, not a bad episode. Did I mention I hate Mary?

I really thought they were going to have Dean make some kind of deal in the AU to bring Sammy back. So when he sat up gasping, I was surprised, for a hot second. It's frustrating to see a character like Jack being wasted like this, while the same old story of Winchesters vs. Lucifer just keeps being replayed. I admit when his eyes glow red I think "oh shit" but 2 seconds later he's cracking jokes and being snarky. It's hard to be afraid of him for long. Overall this episode left me feeling meh. Wonder if they can get back home, but if they don't, they have their happy family reunion in the AU.

Favorite line: "I'm sick of songs that start at different times." Hahahahha

Here's an idea: Let's lock the writers/showrunner/producers/directors in a room and make them re-watch the series from the beginning. Over an over again, just like we do. They must never have re-watched an episode, much less a season to continue to get so much wrong. Have they met these guys, the Winchesters? It's like watching that old Bugs Bunny cartoon where Daffy is drawing Bugs over and over into different characters. The voice is Bugs, but the body is different. Here, the faces are the same but the words they're being forced to say don't match up to the characters they've been in the past. I so want this show to end...RIGHT. Stop mucking it up, writers. Just because you let the shark in doesn't mean we have to jump it.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like the series is winding down. Naomi's "Everything ends" to Cas felt like foreshadowing. With all the resurrections this season, bring back old some fan favorites (Bobby, Charlie, Rowena) is like a farewell tour of sorts. They seem to want to tie it all up Sam and Dean, the AU world, Heaven failing and sending all kinds of ghosts to earth. Why? So the Wayward Sisters will have plenty to keep them busy? I don't know what I want exactly, they've made such a mess of this season, but it's not this mish mash of storylines and re-writing history.

I assumed it was said, in not so many words, in the episode where Bobby meets Mary and Jack. She tells him that she's from a universe where she had two sons and they averted the apocalypse. From that conversation I assumed parallel universes, same people, differing circumstances because of Dean and Sam. But that's just my take. I didn't love this episode and I agree the writing sucks particularly bad right now. Also, I have to register my complaint at the continued lack of classic rock. Sorry to beat the dead horse, but it bugs me ALOT.

Not a bad episode, loved Dean trying to bring some levity, even pre-teen level pranks, to the bunker. I'm interested to see what happened to and will happen with Gabriel. Could not care less about Sister Jo and Lucifer, stay away, please, and the sooner someone stabs the Foghorn Leghorn of Hell and gets rid if him, the better. Maybe he and Lucifer can duke it out, each on some angel's grace, and they'll both die. Yay! Probably too much to hope for. Where the heck is Cas now?

My only complaint is the animated Dean didn't look like Dean, for me. Sam, probably because of the hair, looked like Sam, but Dean just looked generic. Still, I loved it. I had to remind hubs that Supernatural likes to toss in a lighter episode when there has been a run of darkness and gloom for awhile, kind of relieves the stress level a bit to have a laugh and see the brothers be brothers. He's all "What about Cass? What about Mary? (I DON'T CARE!) What about Michael etc. etc etc.". Loved the man cave!

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
trudysmom replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
Does anyone know if CW has announced renewing for SPN another season? Because it's starting to feel like this is a wrapping-up season. Get mommy back (urk), Jack helps sort of get rid of Lucifer (not kill, back in the cage probably) and Michael, the world is saved, again, and for the time being, is safer. In the big battle the boys sacrifice themselves one final time, and that's it. Wayward Sisters is maybe left with Jack, maybe even Mommy (more urk), and run of the mill MOW. The boys look tired. Not the characters, Jared and Jensen look weary. Maybe it's the part of the season that's wearing on them, but I have to wonder if they, like us ever look at the script and say "THIS again??". Do they get frustrated with history repeating itself, or being changed to suit a current storyline? I won't say I can't watch anymore, I'll keep watching, painfully. But the spark is gone, for me. No classic rock, a token bit of snark between the brothers now and again. I feel like they're tossing us bones of the show I once loved. -
This was bad, just bad. I thought Danneel looked lovely, but her voice was weird. I like Lucifer in short bursts, but not enough to carry a whole episode. He wasn't funny enough to keep around for laughs, sympathetic enough to make me care what happened, or evil enough to scare me. His squeezing the breath out of Sam and Dean he was just a mean bully, hurting for hurt's sake, knowing that was about all he could do. Sad. I hope when they come back in March it's with something lighter, a moment here or there to bring a smile to the guy's faces. I'm tired of them looking worried and constipated.

I agree it was either Crowley or maybe Rowena. But I feel so vindicated seeing Dean angry over LadyBitchFaces taunting about Retch and his mom I KNEW he'd be pissed. My first thought about them being sealed in the bunker: Go to Oz!! :)

I have no words. Lots of feelings, no words. I need time to digest this.

Love, Actually is one of my all time favorites, and any version of A Christmas Carol. One that we watch every year, hubby and I, is an old Bogart movie with Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov, called We're No Angels. So funny, so sweet. It never shows on television so if you can rent or borrow a copy (ours is on VHS!) I highly recommend it. Teaching elementary school makes it practically mandatory that I see every single animated movie ever made. I absolutely don't get Frozen, don't like it and don't see how it ties into Christmas at all except for the snow. Nevertheless, our classes are planning for themed holiday parties, the songs are slated for the sing-a-long and people are talking about how they are adding it to their holiday lineup. Give me Rudolph over Elsa and Anna any day!

Season One Episode Talk
trudysmom replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Holiday Baking Championship [V]
I like Bill, so he probably won't win. Erin grates on my last nerve. I like Naylett alot. I also liked Dante, but the thing about him that bugged me had nothing to do with his baking or his demeanor. It was his hands. He talked with his hands and for a big man with huge muscles, he seemed to have tiny little hands. I also really like Bobby Dean, but like most of these types of shows hosts, he seems to take his role way to seriously. Not sure if I like him in this role. -
Agreed. So Mei, with her connection to Voltaggio, isn't going anywhere anytime soon. She seems very middle of the road to me, and yes to the 'resting bitch face'!
