Word. I actually thought turning Juliette into a Hexenbiest was an interesting twist. What has happened after that has been unbearable. Until recently, I was a Juliette fan, but that's all gone now. However, I could actually stand Juliette as the Big Bad if the writers have the cajones to actually commit to that--to have Nick truly end the relationship (and, PLEASE quit whining about everything is his fault) and let Juliette just be an evil villain, not an angsty teenager. Besides, they've written her such that I don't think they could ever "return" her to her pre-Hexen state. Just bite the bullet and make her evil. I do think it will be interesting to see how Monroe and Rosalee handle this now that the initial shock has past. Will they try to continue to have some sort of relationship with her or will they see her as an enemy as well?

Good catch...

Yep, the main character of Fargo (the movie) was Margie Gunderson, and her husband was Mr. Gunderson, and they were expecting a baby..there's 3 right there. I checked when I re-watched this episode and what Wu says is that the Dickinson PD says there are 3 people in the state of North Dakota named Gunderson with drivers licenses--and it was the 3 brothers in question. Really? I've spent a fair amount of time in ND (I have family there) and Gunderson/Gundersen is an incredibly common name. I wish the writers had put a bit more thought into that when choosing a name. I mean, there are a lot of "strange to US ears" Norwegian surnames they could have used. I did like this episode in many ways, but I get a feeling that the WotW idea had been sitting in a drawer and was pulled out now because they needed some kind of filler. As was pointed out, if the Varme Tyv had to go hibernate for Winter, spring is not the time to do so. Yes, yes...I know...Grimm Time. But, really, Grimm Time needs to get its act together. We have snake people setting off for their winter hibernations in April and an 11th months pregnant (and still in her 2nd trimester) hexenbiest. Do the powers that be not realize that their viewers can read calendars?

This reminds me of the mermaid episode--Renard had Nick and Hank put the two sisters in a holding cell, knowing that they would dry out and die, in order to get a confession (not even necessarily from them). Hank or Nick, I can't remember which one, protested saying that the girls would die but Renard said, "That's their problem." I think it is the police mindset to bring in the alleged criminal, even if it means death for the accused.
-
I think the sleeping Wesen chasing them was because they had been hibernating and not a bit too happy about being woken up. After all, the guy they were after didn't know he was the one they wanted. And, Monroe warned them about 5 seconds earlier about waking a creature up from hibernation. And yes, the fiddle playing Wesen scene you just described would be simply awesome.
-
I rewatched this episode this morning and paid attention to this scene. The way I read it was that we woke up, looked over the other side of the bed (that looked made to me) and was relieved that the Juliette encounter was a dream. But then there was his vision of the great beyond....so.... Honestly, I don't know if they slept together but, at this point, I don't care. The writers, directors, and producers should be very proud about how quickly they got this viewer to switch from being a Juliette defender to a Juliette hater. I do, however, like Renard so I would like his visions and phantom bleeding to stop---and I'd really like him to kick pretty boy all the way back to Vienna (or New Zealand...)

So, I was rethinking this supposed death coming up and now I'm thinking it might be Kelly--the actress is booked on another show, so that could be it. It also feeds into the current plots with the royals trying to find her. She wouldn't be my first choice, but I would be okay about it. Then I started thinking about a picture that was posted recently of Nick, Monroe, Rosalee, Adalind, maybe Hank, and Bud at a table--obviously a shot from either the last or second to last episode and I had a terrible thought. What if Bud goes out in a blaze of misplaced courage? I honestly don't think I could take that...he's such a great character that they use just enough to be able to pull him out when needed but not so much that his character becomes schticky. Ugh..please don't let it be Bud!

I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out this isn't Nick's baby after all. It is no secret that this is a show that tries to give the fans--at least the ones on FB and twitter--what they want. These fans, who are usually of the "OMG I luv this show #GrimmForever" ilk have actually been pretty vocal about NOT liking Adalind carrying Nick's baby. I'm not saying I expect the writers to do a 180 on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. What would be crazy (possibly in a good way, though) is if not only did this baby turn out to be Renard's, it ALSO turned out to Juliette's.
-
The answer to this point is obvious. Grimm time.

My crackpot theory is that the is the "Adalind" coming out in her. You see, this is what I think happened (which is pretty darn good, and thus probably not even close to what the writers wanted...) When Nick initially de-hexed Adalind, he didn't actually "kill" her biest, just released it. The biest somehow attached itself to him, trying to find a way to avenge itself. In the meantime, Adalind gets "her" powers back by getting Frau Peche's biest (not an upgrade, by the way). Then, when Nick does the Hokey/Pokey with Juliette as Adalind, the biest is able to go into (heh heh) Juliette, turning her into Adalind 2.0. Because no one knew that the original Adalind biest was hanging around, they never foresaw this "side effect." Now, Juliette's inner biest is out to ruin Nick's life for releasing her from her original host. I told you it was a crackpot theory.... I thought they said in the state....but even if they just said in the Dickinson area, I'd still call BS. Dickinson is, in ND terms, a relatively big town and has a large population of Scandinavian descent. Gunderson/Gundersen/ etc. is a very common name in that area.

It is so hard to tell with this show how time passes. If we want to be literal about this, I think someone figured out Adalind was only pregnant like 7 months with Diana. However, if we want to stay literal, there is absolutely no way Renard is Diana's father since Adalind had a positive pregnancy test within 24 hours of sleeping with Renard (and at least a couple weeks since sleeping with Eric). Personally, I don't think we can read too much into Diana's gestation...right before she was born everyone (the royals, Renard) seemed to know the time was near, so my guess is that it was close to 9 months in Grimm time.

Well, crap... I was about to just give up on this show and then they have to throw out a pretty darn good episode. It wasn't the best, but still better than most. And it was quirky....I like quirky. For a moment there, during the car chase, though, I almost forgot what show I was watching. My random initial thoughts: Calling a great big BS on only 3 Gundersons being registered in North Dakota. Have these people ever been to North Dakota? You can't spit without hitting a Gunderson there (I know, small point....but really!) I think I could deal with an evil Juliette. However, I don't think I can deal with an evil Juliette and an evil Adalind. At the same time, I don't think I could buy Adalind switching teams, so to speak. This may be a problem for me down the road Impressed with Silas Weir Mitchell's acting...I just hope they don't drop his PTSD symptoms like they drop so many other things. That has potential for being a good secondary story line. For the first time in a long time, the WotW story line was actually well thought out and strong enough to stand on its own. Let's stick with that, okay? Don't like Kenneth...not in the way I'm not supposed to like him (you know, he is a villain) but in the "get rid of this character" way. Part of this might be due to casting. The actor may be great, but I just can't buy him as some big baddie--he's just too, for lack of a better word, virginal looking. Renard's vision of the other side was beyond cheesy. The end of this episode reminded me of the zombies, which could have been annoying except the whole episode was so quirky that it sort of fit together. I'm still in shock that this episode didn't suck. Last week, it really didn't make sense to me that Nick would tell Hank before Monroe and Rosalee. However, it kind of does. Let's take all the "not normal" stuff out of it. If a couple were having trouble, it is natural that one of the parties would feel the need to confide in someone. For Nick, the most mature choice (by mature, I mean not immature and petty) would be Hank. Juliette has her own relationship with Monroe and Rosalee and for Nick to confide in them, he would put them in the middle. However, Juliette really only has a relationship to Hank through Nick, so Nick could tell him and not put him in the middle. Also, there is the small matter that Juliette blames ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE except herself. Newsflash, Juliette--you're the one that took the hit from the bong hat.

Sadly, I think Adalind is a reflection of those who created her.

Re: Sam the double/triple agent Yes, he woged in an earlier episode. I want to say that he was a skallengeck, but I could be wrong about that.
-
I don't think Nick knows that Juliette is staying with Renard. But, yes, I've been frustrated with his voicemails as well. The ones he left last week were oddly stoic considering the situation. At least this week it's clear that he's getting to his breaking point.

There is so much wrong with that whole aspect of the story: Rape rarely, if ever, has to do with sexual attraction and, frankly, I find it offensive that the writers are insinuating that it does. What if she got branded and met a guy who just didn't care and loved her anyway (there are nice guys out there...)? What if a woman found her sexually attractive? The writers really didn't think this one through very well...if at all. This is what makes me think that, in some corner of his psyche, Nick might blame Monroe and Rosalee just a bit for this. It's not fair, but given what he's going through, I can kind of see that thought process. If he doesn't bring it up to them, he doesn't have to face those feelings. Of course, that all presumes that the writers are writing a deep, multi-faceted character. Yes, you can all laugh now. But, really, when someone says, "There could be side effects," shouldn't your response be, "What could those side effects be?" and not "Give me the hat bong"? In that regard, Nick and Juliette DO bear a good deal of responsibility in this mess.

I just don't think it works like that. I don't think being Wesen is like being German or Irish or Whatever. I think it is more of a gene thing...like a recessive gene that pops out. You either have it, or have it and don't express it, or don't have it at all. Renard might be "1/2 zauberbiest" like he's "1/2 Austrian" but I don't think he's 1/2 the strength of a "full" zauberbiest (not that we've seen one--that we know of--to compare. Kenny boy....looking at you!). If we take Renard out of the mix, we haven't seen 1/2 strength wesen this entire series. We also had the birds and mellifeurs talk with Monroe and Rosalee and they made it very clear that you either are or are not Wesen, although it did sound like you could be some sort of hybrid Wesen. As for the frog wesen, though...I did wonder if there was something about them that they were only female.

So, it is awkward when the show starts out with something that just doesn't work. It's not a plot thing, just detail, but enough to bug me. The book...it is the same book that Adalind used to make the first polyjuice potion...the same book that Renard found later that day and tried to bring some of the potion to Nick to neutralize it...the same book THAT WAS IN GERMAN! Last I checked, Juliette couldn't speak or read German! Does being a hexenbiest give you magical linguistic powers???? I'm at a place where I'm just torn on this show. Last week, I was very meh about the Wesen of the Week initially but, about 3 days after I watched it, I realized that it was actually a pretty good story line and I think that is where I'll be with this week. The problem is that the "b" story line is just too close right now and it takes away from the "a" story (the WotW). At the same time, so much of the episode is tied up with the "a" story line that I feel like I'm left hanging with the "b" story line. I know this won't happen, but it would really be worth it the writers backed off of the Wesen of the Weeks plots for a few episodes to clean up at least part of all the other crap is going on. My other thoughts: It was interesting that Nick told Hank about Juliette and not Monroe and Rosalee. I wonder if, on some level, he blames them a bit for this. That might be giving the writers more credit than they deserve, but I think about these things.... Well, the Eisbeiber repair crew did a great job on Nick's house...it almost looked like he got a new kitchen out of the deal. It's sort of a boxy house, so I may just never have seen it before, but I don't remember that breakfast bar being there. When Adalind was walking around in her bathrobe I thought it was a massive pregnancy-cover fail but apparently we've either had a time jump or Adalind is truly one of the stupidest people around...she--and I mean Adalind, not Claire Coffee--was clearly 5-6 months along in those scenes. Heh Heh...apparently Viktor's sterility is family knowledge? Not really a spoiler, but it is in the promo so I'll tag it just in case: Again, I think about these things... Next week's episode looks like a hot mess, Do we know that she owns it? The only scene that hints at any ownership was one of the flashbacks when she was getting her memory back and then it seemed clear that they were both moving into the house together (instead of Nick moving in with Juliette). Technically, he's a Kiwi (well, the actor is from New Zealand....). But, you know, all bad guys need to have British accents...
-
You know what bugged me the most about this? Nick and Hank get it into their heads that Monroe should go undercover. They do ask permission....of Rosalee. Never once did they ask Monroe if he wanted to do this and, from watching his expressions, it didn't seem like he wanted to. One more sign that Monroe has just become a means to an end for Nick.
-
Especially in this case. I mean, when she was pregnant with Diana, I got the impression that it was very much "planned." This time, however, she doesn't want to be pregnant and she really doesn't want to be pregnant with Nick's child.
-
Even weirder..Sean has been very clear that his only interest in Juliette was that she and Nick stay together so that Nick will stay in Portland. So, why on earth, would he allow her to stay with him knowing that there was a good chance it would him Nick's enemy? Unless, of course, he decided a super-powerful (but inexperienced) hexenbiest is more valuable than a Grimm.
-
Sean is a zauberbiest, not a hexenbiest. There's a difference (although no one seems to know what it is). My impression was that Sean and Juliette really only knew each other as passing acquaintances through Nick (aside from the crazy obsession for each other back in season 2). ANd, frankly, he didn't look too happy to have her there. I wonder if he would still have let her stay if he didn't have his bleeding issue and needed her to open the book.

Bwa ha ha! This is true...but it would be fun to watch!

Grimm In the Media: News, Ratings & Scheduling
OtterMommy replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Grimm [V]
Second Sneak Peak for "Heartbreaker." If nothing else, it looks like the Eisbeiber repair crew has been busy at Chez Burkhart. https://youtu.be/Ry0Kh7jP12Q (Edited to put in a better link) -
Well, it only happened once on the show before--a few episodes ago--and then wasn't mentioned again. Of course, that was before the break so it seems like it happened for the first time months ago, but it may only have been a few days in Grimm time. As for the doctor, Renard would be going to see his surgeon, so it would most likely be a run-of-the-mill human doctor.
