  1. Cole is pretty. Yeah, had to get that out there. I'm still deciding about Alan. He's probably going to turn out to be nothing but a bucket of crazy, but at the same time...just because he's crazy doesn't mean he was wrong. And I kind of hope he was secretly laughing his ass off that JP actually stripped. I'm glad the hustlers didn't go to Tribal. Because if they'd lost, why even bother? "Yeah, Jeff, you know our team has been stacked so there is one less-pretty, non-waiflike older woman on it. Do we really need to vote, since we all know how this is going to go?" I'd like Lauren to at least get a chance. Add me to the "I hate Joe" list.
  2. And it seemed really inappropriate to me that Aaron's model was just piling on while the judges were critiquing his outfit. Yeah, it was hideous, but it wasn't her job to volunteer what had happened in the work room. If I were one of the designers, I wouldn't want to work with her (although I realize they don't have a choice).
  3. I thought I heard something along the lines of "where's doctor xxx?" from Clare, which was ignored, of course. I got the idea that part of her surprise/confusion came from the fact that she'd already been over this with her regular doctor, who may have been more open-minded** and the drugs were something she had already rejected. **or had already cleared it with Frank, more realistic given the tone of this episode.
  4. Oh, put me on that bawling train, too. Kindness always gets to me. I know the leg touch was a book thing, but I didn't see it here, either. Maybe I missed it, too. I had a similar reaction to the doctor about not quite being able to figure him out. What made him creepy to me was that when he came in, he seemed to be acting like the world hadn't changed, as if he expected that June would comfortably engage in small talk with him. He acted as if he didn't realize she might feel she had to be wary. I felt like he was trying to help her, but also getting something out of it himself. Gross, but he saw it as a mutual favor. God, this world. In context of it, he's not so bad because he could have just raped her instead of asking for consent. So at least there was that. And ewwww. She was asking the commander about the previous Offred, not Moira. But I agree about pushing her luck.
  5. Weird how "we're pregnant" is usually said by men who are supposedly more sensitive to women's issues, but it's actually taking something away from the woman who's doing all the work. Much like the wives on this show with their theater of the absurd "births". But anyway, about infertility science, in the book (and it's not really a spoiler, just background stuff...)
  6. I'm having a huge problem with the music at the end, too. Same reaction--thrown out of the show every time. Hearing "Heart of Glass" over the riot scene wasn't great, but wasn't as bad as the endings are. BUT... the strings during the scene with Ofglenn and the Martha in the van and after worked like nobody's business.
  7. And I felt like if it was anyone with half a brain (ie, not Debbie) they'd be wondering the same thing unless given specific reassurances that we didn't see. If it were me, I don't think I'd feel like I could open up to Cochran about all of my issues in the game, figuring that he'd say, "Hey, thanks for the intel, now I'm joining the game, sucker."
  8. I generally think it's based on "Well, *I* don't have an idol and I'm so smart, so of course they don't" and sometimes it's "They don't have an idol because *I* have an idol and there's no way they're as smart as I am." So yeah. Based on nothing.
  9. I think we need to give her a break. She's probably nursing. A good bra would make her look like Anna Nicole Smith, which is why I'm guessing she wasn't wearing a good bra. And all of that had to be uncomfortable.
  10. On the Road with Carl and Jesus: Sponsored by Pantene.
  11. We *did* see how much pot they were growing, so.... I'd hate to give Negan credit for that kind of tactical smart, though. That. Just freakin' say you're Negan. Who cares? And again with hating to assign smarts to anyone, but is Daryl's assertion that he doesn't have anyone part of a plan? Did he say that in the hope that any consequences he gets will be less likely to be taken out on anyone else? Because no one's buying that.
  12. While this has been explained and my reaction isn't scientific at all, it felt to me that Glenn's last words were his brain just regurgitating its most primal, deepest grooved thought: Always Find Maggie. It didn't even seem like he was really there as he said it.
  13. I remembered that, but it felt different that they're doing it to "us". And put a perspective on the other pictures, it no longer felt like anonymous violence, those pictures could have been people as good as Glenn.
  14. Even though I hated seeing Rick broken down and I was genuinely worried about Carl's arm, that little moment with the camera made me more organically angry than all of the Negan stuff.
  15. I'm pretty sure we're supposed to think he's a short-sighted, spoiled dumbass. And that's okay. It's clear he's not the brains of the trio.
  16. I hope so! I love those women. They seem incredibly talented, try hard to make the brides happy but give no fucks about telling a bride NOT POSSIBLE when she wants something ridiculous.
  17. Margaery not sleeping with Tommen seemed perfect strategy to me. How better to play High Sparrow's ego than to provide him something to instruct her on? It's plausible and it's the perfect "mistake" for her to make since it makes her look more pious and religion-minded. Then when High Sparrow learns that she has followed his advice to the letter, he'll see that as evidence of his control over her. As for being creeped out... well, Tommen's so young that I can't believe she wasn't ALWAYS creeped out a little bit. But sex is politics and ambition for her, so I doubt her personal feelings about sex play into it at all. On a physical level, I don't think Margaery cares whether she's sleeping with Tommen or not. Through our modern lens we all think the High Sparrow and his "woman's sexual desire doesn't matter" POV is horrible, but I think that's pretty much what Margaery believes, too.
  18. Take TWO! I found that very helpful. Right? Nothing like being on the back of a huuuuuge dragon to give your words more weight. I was hoping before the season started that we'd never see Sam and Gilly again... not because I don't like them, but because then I could imagine they were just living happily ever after, the end. In any case, Baby Sam is so adorable and S&G couldn't have done better if they'd trained him, the way he was reaching for Mama Tarly. Who is lovely, Sam's sister is lovely, and I don't know why I was surprised, since Sam clearly didn't get his personality from dear old dad. Their dresses, however.... especially the one that Gilly wore... looked straight out of the Simplicity historical pattern selection, available at a Jo-Ann fabrics near you.
  19. I just want the Direwolf deaths to have some significance somehow. I want them to mean something more than just... "kids get puppies.... puppies all get killed". I thought that moment while they were waiting was so awkwardly hilarious. My favorite moment, hands down, was the quiet, speed, and competence with which Yara & Co. got the hell out of Dodge. That was beautiful.
  20. And it's not like there's a court system. Who's going to tell Strand he can't have it all? Celia? She just killed off all the local people who might have sided with her. (At least I think that's what happened. Ebola wafers, as someone said. Most of the time I have no idea what they're getting at. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention. Or maybe they're just not making a show that's compelling enough to make me pay attention.)
  21. There I was, thinking yes, Daniel's badass and doing what has to be done with the bodies and I appreciate that pragmaticism. And then he tossed the coin and yes... dick move. I think another poster is correct that Daniel recognized the symbolism, but that didn't occur to me at all on the show. On the show it just felt unnecessary, especially since I didn't see any reason for him to have any animosity toward Luis. That's just not the way to build characters. Those subtitles are absolutely impossible for me to read. They're tiny. We're not all watching on 52" screens. (But I see this more and more with a lot of shows. This this this a million times. These people have earned nothing, yet they're out there without hesitation. Nick and Strand are the only characters that seem to have any energy to me. And yet I was hoping that Strand would go through with the suicide pact. Because that would be different and unexpected... and at least that would have meant something happened. Yeah, we're all twisted, but we're right: it's time for someone else to die, and someone REALLY should have been killed by Walker during that churchyard scene, because THAT is what they've earned.
  22. He did look alone. But did I just miss it, or did we never see Ghost go to Jon after his resurrection? We got a reaction shot from Ghost, but I wanted some joy from the direwolf that seemed to be missing. Are direwolves CGI-expensive?
  23. I'd appreciate the irony a lot more if I didn't feel like the writers were already madly self-congratulating themselves for it. And also super-proud of their "depth" and "relevant political commentary" when the evidence shows they're just not very good at their job.
  24. Maybe the Dothraki widows' home isn't that bad. I mean, women like the Dothraki wives we just saw could be pretty entertaining companions. There could be little communal compounds, and it could be all very Golden Girls. There's a pool, cabanas, organized trips to the slave market... fun!
