I liked this episode. I'm not sure if what half of any of these characters are doing is legal, but I don't care. But, holy exposition! The last bit after the funeral was painful. I suppose they're intending this to be a dumb filler show, so they assume a recap by the characters at the end of the episode is needed.

I think some of us are annoyed by just this. The exclamation was just an exclamation. But the setup, placement, and reaction to it made it seem like they were going for exactly what you're saying. However, there are plenty of people who are cold. The world assumes they're just luke warm and seconds (an emergency) away from being hot again. I just thought it would be interesting for her to really not believe. By the way, thanks for the podcast tip! In my experience, atheism is a no-go in the black community. I know no one personally who admits to not believing and have only recently heard a few black people on some of the podcasts I listen to say they are non-believers. And they mention experiences similar to Zoe's with their friends and families. Thinking about the mission of this show, I expected this episode at some point in the run.

I really didn't like this either, especially since they handled everything leading up to it well, and realistically. Although it's not common to be open about it, I know more and more black people who don't believe. I thought it would interesting to leave it as they did right before the ending.

And how his behavior gets blamed on the bad influence of his rapper buddies. "Play your part" continues what everyone's been trying to push Alfred to be in each episode, the scary, cold-blooded, black man, gangster feuding with everyone. I enjoyed this episode. It very much reminded me of some of the more surreal episodes of Louie, different but still great.

Wow! You're right! I swore I thought I heard his voice, and looked up and didn't see him and moved on.

Bill Maher has been sounding the alarm since the race first started. I don't know if it's his personality, his age, or if Trevor's just too much of an outside from our political system to seem genuine with a lot of his commentary. -

Many different protest groups and talking heads have this on their list of suggested reforms. Unfortunately, I don't think the general public even knows that there is a list of suggested reforms. Funny, I just stumbled across Tomi on Twitter for the first time yesterday. I expect to see her running for office sooner rather than later. -
I could kind of relate to this episode, but I think I'm exactly Donald Glover's age. How old is Earn supposed to be? I've seen a few friends and family members and/or their spouses branch out, do something different and be entrepreneurs, after getting degrees (or instead of going to college). They're always hustling and trying something new because they just can't seem to be in mundane "normal" job. I know we don't know anything about Earn's story yet, but if you don't want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, CPA, or teacher, you can feel pretty aimless, especially if you weren't established before the economy crashed. I have to remember to use brand names when I travel, because at home I never order anything but "Coke," even when it's a Sprite. It's really ridiculous. I went down the rabbit hole with Vine when it first got really popular a few years ago. There are people who have made, or honed, careers from Vine videos. I thought they did a great job with the over-the-top, always on, persona for Zan, right down to the kid. I know some people who support themselves and children financially only from their Youtube videos. Zan and Alfred could get something lucrative going with a well-designed public contentious relationship.

I hated the viral rant, especially the name "viral rant." It seems desperate. Funny, when I got home, Trevor apparently had gone viral according to the Facebook analytics; but it was for his Colin K. stuff. Hasan's piece reminded me of the early part of Jon's run. I watch some of that 24 hour feed they did before Jon; and some of those segments were overly mean to the participants. At least more recently this kind of segment was saved for people holding IMO ridiculous and illogical stances on issues. It's kind of strange to mock a terrible treaty by doing what Hasan did to the people who will be negatively affected by the pipeline. -

The band gag worked better when he followed it with "you guys actually thought I had a band? Ha!" Last night, he just turned back to business as usual. It was awkward. It's my kind of joke. But, coming from Trevor it seems like he's just testing new gags for the show. -
Great video. I gave up playing music a long time ago, but I wonder if the issue is also the style of the Marvel themes. The Captain America themes were very noticeable to me in all of the movies. I can't recall any others. But I could never hum those songs like I could the ones mentioned in this video. Perhaps it issues with the melody, but they seem too complex or...something to be catchy.

Perhaps this is a pattern for Earn and Van. She seems like she's letting him try and prove that he's learn and changed, from maybe earlier missteps. It may have been a bit of surely he's not stupid enough to come to this restaurant unprepared, and a bit of her testing him to just be reasonable and if not reasonable, honest about his situation. I'm pretty she would have backed off and/or paid if he'd just been honest. But then she would be even farther out the door than she already seems to be with their relationship. She's hedging her bets. Right now, with so little to go on, I don't blame her.

I love African Jokes! I've got family from that region. Every once in awhile they'll just casually drop something that makes me do a double-take or think, "no confirming stereotypes in front of the company, please!" I liked their take on HRC's illness and missteps - literal and otherwise. I remember many moments when Jon would basically plead "why are you making it easier for them?" But then, even if she were doing backflips and got a clean bill of health from Dr. Oz, people will believe what they want. -
I remember hearing rumors of a Sharon Carter TV show, either solo or with her being slotted in to Agent Carter when Peggy's story ran its course. I wonder (assuming any of that's true) if negotiations about that could have had them holding back on Sharon's character development.

Maybe if Emily had a bit more personality (I watched every second of Revenge, she's a bit dull) and/or the writers had integrated her into the crew a bit more, it would have felt a bit natural. Several people in my theater groaned at their kiss.

S01.E01: The Big Bang / S01.E02: Streets On Lock

I wonder if how funny you found this depends on how dark your sense of humor is. I have a very dark sense of humor so I actually laughed out loud at much of this. I had no idea it was being promoted as a comedy, but I see now that it is. I never pay attention to that for shows on outlets like Netflix and FX because I know they give their creators a longer leash on what they can do with a show. The reactions above do make me realize that none of the people I suggested this to mentioned laughing. Ha! -

Funny, on the second watch I had more trouble understanding people, but it was only the characters I think we were supposed to have trouble understanding, a la Boomhauer from King of the Hill. I'm really interest in his relationship with his child's mother. I wonder if it's as loose as it seems. Props to both if they can make that work. -

I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype, but I loved it too! It's definitely a slow burn, but there were so many jokes and funny moment that just snuck up on me. The autograph scene was hilarious. -
I'm struggling with some of this too. I get how it could all happen. I get in a general sense someone either ending up that way playing the part to survive or by just giving up. I think I was just to focused on the mystery to really see this transition. Perhaps upon rewatch it will be clearer.

Something about the trial stuff this episode felt wrong. Actually several things felt wrong. The judge's interaction with the jury and the decision not to retry. This is only based on TV laws shows and a couple of college classes. Maybe I'm not used to "happy endings" on this kind of show, but I have a hard time thinking things would go down like this in real life. It was just this episode that stood out to me. Anyone in the legal system?

I've seen candid around the house pictures from both of them. Chris is always taller. I remember him discussing his height on his podcast. He prooomises he's taller than he looks. As someone who looks a lot taller than she is, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. ETA: I see 5'8" in one place and 5'7" elsewhere. I bet she's even shorter.

Chris is officially a Hearst. This seems so strange as someone who grew up watching him on Singled Out. All the best to him and his new wife.

Of the men, they're the only ones other than Bobby and Kenan I thought would leave on their own terms.

I was wondering when this interview would show up, I just never thought it would be in an official campaign ad.
