  1. I should have known Linda was the hot shirtless demon in disguise as soon as she asked if there was a gym. For awhile I was thinking the challenge was how to deal with someone so utterly uninterested in anything, including self-improvement. I still think that would be a good plot thread, because people like that are so irritating. Also, what are the moral implications of being so satisfied with mediocrity and so ungenerous in conversation? Would the point system say that this is nirvana, wanting nothing, and therefore morally superior? Or that being a useless lump who appreciates nothing and does nothing for others is damnable? What do we owe to each other? Not to be a joy-sucking party pooper who''s fine with never improving anything?
  2. Not enough Chidi yet, but there was an ad for almond milk during the broadcast. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
  3. There's a lot of potential set up for the next season. Polo back at school, and it's no longer a secret that he killed Marina, even if the legal system/his moms' influence and money meant he didn't go to prison. And what's their family life like, with his mothers now knowing that their son killed Marina? Cristian should return one of these days, also, if Carla's dad doesn't have him expensively murdered at the posh Swiss clinic. But maybe he's spending his time at the clinic making fancy connections and he'll come back a star.
  4. I'm kind of glad they're continuing the same main drama instead of killing off more and more people to add plot. One murder is plenty. This doesn't need to turn into Riverdale. Although I was rather hoping Nadia's father would die of a heart attack. He's a nuisance, and I'd like to see what her mother is like and how their whole family dynamic would change without his oppressive presence. I was also hoping we'd meet Nadia's "wayward" sister. Maybe in season 3?
  5. I just can't get over how bad Cayetana is at scheming. Why on earth would she tell a bunch of wild high school kids that she lives alone in a big fancy house and give them an address?!?! That just screams "Come over any time and do your partying here! Drop by at any hour!" It's amazing none of them went over to visit without warning and alarmed the real homeowner at any point. She should have just been like "my parents are really private and strict and they're always home. I can't have people over."
  6. But they're rich, so it was classy incest! Yeah, I can almost buy teens with teen impulse controls issues having sex in the school locker room where anyone could walk in, but incest? GROSS. And BTW, Valerio, half siblings doesn't make it better. Half of infinitely gross is still infinitely gross. But what a peppy Christmas dinner!
  7. Netflix; the new Skinemax. That Ander/Polo/Guzman scene was gross, but so believable for Polo. He's creepy even when he isn't perving on someone with no preamble. Just in case this wasn't soapy enough, we now have incest and false identity shenanigans. Cayetana probably could have gotten away with her scheme to blend in if she'd just been low-key and not tried so hard to convince everyone she was rich. The constant babbling about brands and vacations and shopping, plus the thefts from employers and problems she caused for her mom, pretty much guaranteed the whole thing would blow up. Also, she failed by going on so much about Ralph Lauren and wearing giant polo pony branding when all the other kids were in Lacoste. I assume Lacoste was a sponsor; it was EVERYWHERE. For someone so smart, Nadia is so daft. Guzman is basically her dad. Controlling, self-righteous jerk with anger management issues and a rigid attachment to whatever idea hit his brain first. What are the chances season 3 will feature Nadia fretting and plotting a life on the lam after Guzman murders Polo? Speaking of which, what the hell was that ending? Did I miss something? "Hmm, well, we can't find the murder weapon, so even though we have testimony from multiple witnesses of your guilt, plus some suspicious photos, shrug; go back to school I guess." Whereas why would the court need any evidence if you're poor?
  8. Also, Google Maps has informed me that there are, in fact, several bars and restaurants in the Galapagos Islands where one could go for a cocktail. The islands may be geared more toward environmentalism and research than beach parties, but it looks like there's as much to do there as in SC for someone like Alexis, who doesn't do anything. You'd think she'd be desperate to go somewhere! Have any of the Roses been further than Elmdale or the neighboring countryside or so since they moved to SC, aside from Moira's stint in the Balkans?
  9. I've been saying this for a long time! Especially with the new partnership and rebranding! They should do some repainting and redecorating! They could make it a boutique sort of place with black and white Rose-style decor and products from the apothecary. Alexis was supposedly working on rebranding, but David would probably be better at it, given that he has aesthetic vision and some willingness to actually follow through on things. Plus, it would give David a chance to work with Stevie. I am actually surprised that Alexis is so not into the Galapagos. Didn't a magazine once write that she was "up for anything"? And if her stories are true, she's been in plenty of challenging situations before and just rolled with it. Plus, it isn't like she really does anything in Schitt's Creek. She could just as easily hang around on an island doing nothing. There must be at least a few people to talk to, and she could probably go for a jog periodically. What else does she do?
  10. The thing is, though, I think Jane knows that by now she's moved on far enough and her relationship with Rafael has matured, and she's just different now than she was back then, and at this point, she would choose Rafael. As long as "Jason" doesn't remember, he's totally fine with that. He has a life he's happy with, doesn't particularly care for Jane (OR DOES HE NOW?...but mostly no), etc. So he isn't hurt by her choosing Rafael. But if he remembered everything and she still chose Rafael, then he would be hurt. I don't blame Jane for not being too interested in what Michael's parents are experiencing; they have been horrible to her in the past. Which doesn't mean they shouldn't get their son back, but knowing that intellectually and caring enough to prioritize it in your deepest darkest emotions that you can only reveal to your closest confidantes are two different things. And Jane is Rogelio's daughter, after all. A certain amount of self-absorption isn't that surprising. I personally don't care that much about how the romance shakes out; I'm here for the narrator's jokes, Jason's line dancing, Ro-boats, etc. Maybe it will end up like the story of the dog who can't choose between two bones and ends up with neither. Jane will live happily ever after as a free agent, and Michael will get his memory back and he and Rafael will realize their antagonism toward each other all this time was just suppression of PASSION, and they will ride off into the sunset together.
  11. Telenovelas are notorious for having someone get a DNA test or paternity test, but then having the villain get ahead of the heroes and falsify the results in some manner. Either shenanigans with the lab, or by swapping samples before they get sent to the lab. It's about as much of a trope as coming back from the dead. Speaking of Michael's brother, though, it's about time he reappeared. Maybe he can jog Michael's memory. Nothing like a sibling to push all your long-forgotten buttons.
  12. It isn't a telenovela unless everything goes all to hell and makes a lot of people get angry and question why they ever liked the protagonists in the final stretch.
  13. I like Josh the best, but think Nathaniel would be the best match for Rebecca out of these three. I think they actually get each other, have similar issues, have compatible lifestyles, and can enjoy doing things together. However, Rebecca still has a long way to go to have her mental health issues well-managed. She won't even quit stalking her therapist! So I agree; Weird Al. She'd probably get a lot of free balloon rides while it lasted! Maybe if they were together he'd even land the balloon on request so she could use the bathroom!
  14. No; Nathaniel is only a 9.6 (his breath is almost TOO good). This entire situation is ridiculous, but given that the entire SHOW is a parody of ridiculous show tropes, it seems like a fitting way to go.
  15. The Roses were rich; they could easily have been early adopters of all the newest technology. Plus, they were probably besties with the developers and got it before it was on the market, because why not? I first got a cell phone in 2001, but it seemed like a lot of people I knew had them before I did. I know my dad had one in the mid to late 90s; no idea if it could text. Maybe Alexis and Josh had their semi-committed relationship via pager. Alexis has had a wild life and done a lot of age-inappropriate things, but I also suspect she takes a very loosy-goosy interpretation of actual reality and may be mixing up details or dates or blowing things up into more than they were, because being strictly factual is not important *bunny hand flop*.
  16. I've never liked musical episodes and this one didn't change my mind, but The Magicians is so good that I very much enjoyed this episode in spite of the musical interludes. The scenes in the desert were so striking, and it was very satisfying that Margo got the straight scoop on the demons and overthrew the misogynist creeps. I'm also glad we got a little bit of Margo's backstory. We've known so little about her and Penny this whole time. The escape room was also fun, although I felt it should have been more of its own episode so we could get more details and complications there. Julia is getting awfully confident in her invincibility, which does not bode well. Obviously gods can be killed; multiple gods have been killed with our cast's involvement. They were there to warn a god that he was in danger! I wonder if she actually knows what her limits are. I just want the magic rationing to be over and done with so we can go back to all the fun, spontaneous execution of magic. Spending entire episodes to dredge up the resources for one spell that isn't so dazzling to look at just isn't the same.
  17. I watched a telenovela once (Camaleones) wherein a character accidentally took a drug that caused catalepsy and was thought to be dead. In that case (spoiler alert), she came to during her funeral. It was very dramatic. Anyway, that could be how Rose made them believe he was dead. Put his cataleptic body in the casket, then have him removed before the actual burial. As to motive, I'm starting to think the only real motive is that Rose is just an evil genius who wants to try the wildest things possible just for the thrill of doing it. She had it out for Michael because he was a detective investigating her, but it's probably just more fun for her to mess with him than to kill him and get it over with.
  18. I think there is some anger and sympathy in there, it's just drowned out by the tsunami of other emotions. I think if this guy were acting like Michael, talking like Michael, but just didn't remember her or his previous life, the sympathy would be more front and center. She'd be seeing him more as the same person who's had so much taken from him. But as it is, he's like a stranger who happens to be walking around in a renovated version of Michael's body, who is totally fine with the way he is and doesn't seem traumatized. Did they change Alba's house? Was that door from the dining room to the porch always there? Did the porch swing move? It was very distracting. I hated Petra's yellow dress. It was like a floral straitjacket. Jason sure seemed to appreciate its effect, though. I loved how irritated Jane was by that.
  19. The most offensive thing about this episode is that Paula's expensive Fett Regoso suit was an ugly color and didn't fit right. It should not pull and bunch! I'm Team White Josh, as in this whole "love" geometry problem is ridiculous. Wasn't Hector also an excellent Voice of Reason also, aside from his oblivion as to how his relationship with his mom looked to outsiders, before they decided to make him into a cartoon of a child instead? I need Father Brah's reactions, also. Actually I don't care what he thinks, I just love Father Brah and want him in more scenes. Anyway, if you don't feel strongly enough about any of these guys that they stand out above the others and any random new person you happen to meet who might take an interest, then the answer is none of them. I don't think Rebecca would be happy long-term with any of them. Josh is sweet, and probably the best option, but he kind of just goes for whatever is easy and right in front of him. Therapy is doing wonders for him, but I can see him eventually getting tired of Rebecca's nonsense and self-centeredness but just not doing anything about it, like he did with Valencia. I think Nathaniel wants to win more than anything else. Greg is a bad match because he hates doing anything fun, and Rebecca loves fun outings. Why be with such a killjoy if you're not also into hating everything?
  20. Patrick and David should negotiate deals to supply all the area spas with posh local products, since going to spas is apparently the top recreation in the area and there are enough spas that Stevie can hop from one to the next with her newlyweds scheme all the time. I continue to be disappointed that they haven't actually done any rebranding at the motel. I want new decor! They could improve that little place so much just by chucking a bunch of stuff into the dumpster and repainting!
  21. Well, once word gets around that you're selling "tea" that is really marijuana... I don't get it, either. That's the kind of expensive boutique that only does well in an area with either a lot of affluent people or a lot of tourists. Working-class locals might shop in such a place occasionally for a gift or a special treat, or something really minor like a lip balm, but I don't really believe Jocelyn as the sort of person who pays $10 for applesauce, and they don't seem to have enough traffic to make enough small purchases to add up to livable earnings. Maybe if the building is part of what owning the town means, so they don't have to pay rent? I wish we ever knew what the Roses actually own. Although David does still live at the motel for free. Maybe Patrick is secretly independently wealthy. He didn't think very long about giving up his job to join this risky enterprise with a flaky partner.
  22. I agree that Jason Ralph is doing a fantastic job portraying Quentin. A character like this could easily go very flat and boring, but he gives it a lot of nuance and subtle emotion. Also, aside from the depression, I think introverted people are very underrepresented on television, and often when there is a character who is meant to be introverted, they're just performatively reclusive or shy in a way that doesn't seem realistic. But the mainstream characters are usually VERY OPENLY AND LOUDLY EXPRESSIVE, as though that were how 98% of people in the world are. Quentin is much more developed; you can see him thinking and having emotions and interacting in a believable way for someone with that personality, without having to ham it up for the cheap seats.
  23. I think a lot of people who have any normal degree of coordination don't understand just how uncoordinated it's possible to be. At least, this is what I gather from all the people who have been like, "join our recreational softball/volleyball/kickball/soccer/billiards team! You don't have to have any skills! It's just for fun! Anyone can play!" and then they get mad at you (me) for being so completely terrible, and keep yelling at you (me) about how to do it right. No, I understand what you're saying, dudes, it's just not going to happen. I AM trying to follow your instructions.
  24. Oh, trust me, it's entirely possible for someone to strike out three times in slow-pitch softball. And I, at one point, actually tried to become a softball player, and practiced a lot and everything, before coming to the inevitable conclusion that this was simply not my path in life. But even someone with terrible coordination like myself occasionally lucks out and happens to land on the ball by pure chance.
  25. I also love this show! I keep trying to get people to watch it, but no one takes my advice. I relate so much to Nina's inner dialogue and the way her anxieties manifest in imagined scenarios that then lead to goofy-looking real-life reactions. I'm in season 4 on my second re-watch and Jimmy is annoying me even more than he did on the first run. He's so self-absorbed and entitled. He just refuses to care that his actions affect other people and that they aren't all obligated to go along with what he wants. I can't believe how much everyone lets him get away with. He's not nearly charming enough for that! Zara should have dumped him like a hot rock LONG before she ever got pregnant.
