  1. Either take the doors off, or just leave the door open if it's a swing door. They definitely don't just close the baby up in the closet. Usually it's a regular (non-walk-in) closet with the slider doors, and they take those off and slide in a crib with storage bins below and a shelf above. No space for a changing table, so they use a changing mat on the floor. Et voila, a nursery. Another friend used a walk-in closet, which was a little bigger. She leaves the door open, but the door is all louvers so she doesn't worry about the baby not having enough air if the door gets closed. A baby doesn't really need a lot of space or stuff.
  2. I thought it was funny when Michael made the comment about putting the baby in the closet since his place doesn't have much space, and then Jane was all "WHAT?!" and he said he was just joking. I personally know at least four sets of parents who have created a compact nursery nook in a closet. In cities with very expensive real estate, it's quite normal!
  3. Lina seemed nice and sensible, so I'm interested to find out WHAT exactly she sees in Michael's sleazebag brother. How old is Michael? If he was legally an adult during the car theft spree that landed Billy in jail, then it can't have been all that long since he was on the wrong side of the law. I think Rafe and Michael can't stand each other because like recognizes like. They are both dudes with sketchy pasts and questionable character, and both like to think they've evolved and become better, but the dark side is still there and they see that in each other because they are so much the same. Plus, I think Rafe started having feelings for Jane before the sexy dream. He just didn't admit it to himself before. Watching them go at it, Nadine looked like she expected them to whip out a ruler and measure.
  4. I would think that Petra could get a financial settlement from a lawsuit against Luisa since she was the one who was supposed to be inseminated. However, since it all went wrong and she is not the mother, I don't think she would have a legitimate claim on the child. However however, since she was going to be inseminated with Rafe's sperm without his explicit consent, maybe she knows she's better off not bringing it up in court. I don't think Petra wants the baby itself; she mostly saw it as a means of keeping Rafael married to her long enough to collect the $10 million. She did seem happy to be expecting in the flashback. I wonder how exactly it all went downhill for them, aside from losing that baby. I do enjoy watching Petra. She's interesting. Shady, for sure, but seeing her with her mother, you can also see why she is the way she is. So the expansion plans for the hotel include a medical spa? This has real possibilities for underhanded medical business. Plastic surgery for criminals on the run? Black market organ harvesting? Who knows?!
  5. I thought "Who would I tell?" was funny and not a mistake line because I think that Jane still believes that she can keep a secret, all evidence to the contrary. And who knows, maybe if she and Rafe never crossed paths in a church or near a priest or nun or with a view of anyone's crucifix necklace, she could have kept it a secret from him. But I'm starting to wonder about Michael's investigative ethics and skills anyway. He just leaves all these files full of sensitive information all over, tossed in the back of his car or stacked on his dresser. He needs to get it together. I did love that he called Jane "Veronica Mars". I loved Rogelio's Grand Entrance. He's so sweet despite his delusional narcissism. Certainly, going way over the top because he's nervous and he cares is much better than not caring. I wonder if Jane is going to have to deal with a lot of paparazzi since he's a big star and just found out he has a daughter (and greeted her with a very large audience). I'm not super sad that we won't have to see a lot more of Disgusting Tom. I used to work in a fancy hotel in the summers when I was in school, and it seems like there was ALWAYS a Disgusting Tom or three among the bellhop staff. UGH.
  6. Did Zaz work for the hotel? I had the impression that he did, and that he had a suite there as his permanentish residence the same way Rafe and Petra do (though his was not as luxurious and customized as theirs is). But I don't know how long he had been there. But someone who had moved in versus staying for a week or two on a business trip or vacation should have more personal effects, probably most of his stuff, there.
  7. The police had already seen everything that was there and taken photographs. They just didn't know if it was any different from how the room should have looked or normally looked, because the police detectives of course have no reason to go until AFTER the crime has been committed. This is why Michael wanted Petra to look at it, since he knew she had been there recently and often. She might notice if anything of Zaz's were missing or if things had been disturbed. Michael had been watching the room through the window before Zaz was killed, but this didn't give him a thorough view of the entire room, nor would he necessarily have noticed Zaz's various personal effects. That doesn't mean that Petra wasn't trying to plant or remove something, but competent detectives should be able to notice whether something is different from their earlier investigation. Although Michael, for one, has been distracted by other things.
  8. The detectives had already thoroughly examined the scene (did Michael get Petra's necklace out of there?) so I think they would notice if she planted new false evidence. I don't think Rafael every really thought of Jane as a sister. I think he was telling himself that to keep some distance, but I think he's always been attracted to her but is unused to having romantic/physical relationships with women who are also good, honest, interesting friends with whom he can have meaningful conversations. Petra is cunning, but I don't think he married her for her intellect, nor do I think they ever had the sort of emotional intimacy and comfort he already has with Jane.
  9. I love this show so much that I stayed up late to watch it even though I should have gone to bed two hours earlier. It never disappoints, it just gets better and better with more twists and turns. I liked Rafe right from the start for shallow reasons, but the more I see of his character, the more entertaining I find him. Loved the flashback of his jackass playboy phase and meeting Petra for the first time...WHILE she was engaged to his nemesis, no less! And he really turned up the heat with that F-me look he gave her. I also thought he was very funny discussing the mixed-up letter with Jane, and I cheered when he blithely flipped the script on Petra, especially right after his comments about being a false ally, where she was in smug agreement, not knowing SHE was the one being played! Rogelio is a continual delight. I love that he goes around town on his personal business in his show costumes, like the lavender presidential military suit. And that he thinks jeans and a t-shirt are ridiculous. Since telenovelas like to tie the relationships between characters into a Gordian knot, I wonder if Michael's partner Nadine will be revealed to have more connections and backstory with some of the others. And we finally found out some useful information: Rafe owns 20% of the hotel, but his father is still the majority owner.
  10. Dmitry is my early favorite. All the others, I either don't remember them, don't like them, or don't like their work. Or a combination of disliking them AND their work. I'm surprised Patricia is back. Her stuff was kind of interesting, but always looked like an amateur craft project. I could imagine the potential for translating her ideas into expensive high fashion, but it never got even close.
  11. I've seen Jaime Camil in a bunch of telenovelas and a movie, as well as in interviews as himself, and his intonation/cadence changes with the character. Plus sometimes he'll do like an Argentinian accent or something else. I don't think he sounds fake per se here, just different from the way he talked as Fernando in La Fea Mas Bella. Plus, in the telenovela within the show, where he speaks Spanish, he's obviously overacting and ramping up the accent deliberately for comedic effect. I'm going to listen more closely the next episode I watch and try to hear if he's faking any sort of accent or just being a different character. I do hear lots and lots of Mexican Spanish spoken and even within Mexico there is a wide variety in the accents.
  12. Do we know the names of Michael's partner or of Jane's friends at the hotel? Since they are regular characters, it would be nice to be able to discuss them by name.
  13. Just because telenovelas often love parallels and contrasts, I wonder if someday a child of Michael's that he didn't know he had (possible because he definitely thinks it's important to know that he is not a virgin, *snort*) will show up and Jane will be in the situation of deciding whether she could be a stepmother to another woman's child. Somehow I'm guessing she wouldn't say the same things Michael said about another man's child or be eager to make the kid go away.
  14. I love Rafael. I think he's very funny, and I also find him very attractive. He's exactly the sort of guy who appeals to me (on television only; in real life I don't much like cads and playboys, however reformed). I like him much better than Michael, who is outwardly a good guy but has some definite issues. I do not care for Michael's repulsion over the idea of "another man's child". Not ready to be a dad yet, I could understand, but not wanting a child that is also Jane's just because it didn't spring forth from his own babyfountain is very offputting to me. And I definitely don't like that he is hiding information from Jane for his own selfish interests.
  15. Would he lose ALL his shares in the hotel? I guess it would depend what the settlement came to. I can imagine a situation where Jane gets a bunch of the shares and he still owns some too, so they are co-owners of the hotel. I wouldn't mind if Jane got some ownership of the hotel; that would be awesome. Does Rafael's father own most of the hotel? Do we know how much of it Rafael owns? I'm sure a hotel like that is valued at WAY more than one would realisitically get in a malpractice case. Not that realistic necessarily has anything to do with a telenovela plot. I'm glad Jane ended up NOT quitting her job like Michael wanted. Besides the fact that she's established there and likes it, and also that Michael should get over himself, she is now pretty much guaranteed to be treated very well there. If she got a job at another hotel, she'd be just another employee, and a pregnant one who is the newest also. It would make her situation tougher. It would be kind of fun if Raf lost all his shares to Jane so Petra got nothing in their divorce, and then eventually he and Jane got together so he could manage the hotel again (she could be the owner, but focus on her writing while he does the business stuff).
  16. This is my favorite show now. I liked this episode even more than the first one! I'm shocked that Zaz was stabbed so soon. The plot is moving at a brisk pace. I love all the interwoven plots and connections and intrigues. It's what I love most about telenovelas and I'm glad to see that they are bringing that in and amping it up on this show. I wasn't sure at first that I liked the idea of having a narrator, but that guy is a hoot. Loved his snark about Michael's non-virginity, and the comments and typeover in Luisa's and Rose's kissing scene. Also loving Jane's dad. I've seen Jaime Camil act in many telenovelas, and he's always very funny. Can't wait to see more of him. His benign self-absorption is oddly endearing.
