1. My understanding is that they've had to really lighten up on some of the more "day-trippy" crossings but even then you take a chance on who's actually asking the questions. Some entry people can be real hardasses. We were doing a pretty major trip (Winnipeg to Churchill and back via train) and didn't want to take chances. And I still wouldn't. We have Canadian friends w/ tales and many a MN fisherman has been denied car-entry. I am also quite certain that their clamp down on dui entries was in response to Canadian citizens being denied entry to the US because of marijuana issues. The US treats marijuana users more harshly than many countries. I have even heard complaints from UK people. Often it's businesses trying to send temporary workers into the US so sometimes they don't even try.
2. Was one of the "standard" questions, Have you ever been convicted of a crime? If you responded that you did have a dui (considered a criminal offense) it would be up to the Canadian customs/immigration person whether to allow entry. If you had a dui and answered "no" they would in all probability turn you away. Some say a dui in the last 10 years is okay for entry but it is up to the border entry official. This page of info from TripAdvisor covers it quite well. If you have had a dui and you're considering more than a quick jaunt you should also consider having this kind of Canadian law firm straighten things out. Been there done that^^^^^ Husband had 2 DUIs 35 years ago. Takes about 6 months and $1500. From the US Customs and Border Control.
3. I don't think Bethy lies about everything but I do think she presents an exaggerated version of her truth. And I bet the caviar people discounted their roe and roe-girl for such significant product placement. I have a difficult time believing that B contributed large amounts for much of anything. She's got hustle but it's so scattershot (and meanspirited) that I don't know how effective it is at the end of the day. I think there is such a thing as bad publicity. So, if Bethy can't go to Mexico no one goes?
4. From People (bolding mine): "I've reached out to her a couple times saying, 'I hope you're happy.' 'Sorry about this thing that happened that hasn't been aired yet,' " says Frankel. "I find the show to be a comedy, so I don't really like live in it. "I don't think that it's all that serious. I've been going through an ordeal with my divorce and I have a business to run, so I don't have a lot of time thinking about what already happened on the show." How many CYA excuses does she have? I guess I'm just not appreciating her comedic timing. I usually at least smile during comedies, not cringe in revulsion.
5. Hopefully it will benefit HomeGoods. But I wouldn't want manic Bethy representing my business.
6. Bolding mine. Or maybe she was hoping to nudge HomeGoods into carrying her product. Don't they sell a lot of closeouts and overstocks? She doesn't do much that's not self serving.
7. Ditto. Unfortunately he does not narrate the audiobook. I'll have to give 32 Yolks a try. Thanks!
8. There were times I felt bad for him. She could be a real shrew.
9. Awww. How sweet. Bethy remains exclusional to the end. I don't know if exclusional is a word but it rhymes nicely with delusional.
10. Just like on the show, she needs an editor. Or the hook.
11. I could have gladly lived w/o that FB post. Medical "mumbo jumbo" to make her travails the very worst ever. I'm tired of them not addressing things on the show but freely using social media. How do we know "the show" decided not to address "all of this" because it's, imho, an inflated boring digression.
12. It's also, usually, not turned into a TMI plot line.
13. I ain't seeing GiGi. Looks to me to be a headlines-drive-the-news thing. Using the word "news" generously. Her makeup makes her nose look odd. I think it's her makeup.
14. I don't disagree she has had health issues. And I don't see this as a male v. female (blood!) reaction. We all bleed but we don't all need to share. She seemed fine, and with a surfeit of energy, talking about it on the show.
15. Sounds to me like she's a drama queen. How many times do we need to hear about her "profuse" bleeding? What's next? Displaying her bloody sheets from an open window?
16. I only got a quick look and she kind of reminded me of Star Jones. Doubt that's the look she was goin' for.
17. And right now, when history is being made in the House, they are still prattling on about Trump. At least MSNBC has a split-screen.
18. Maybe we need a poll! I vote glottal. LuLu was faboo this episode! Loved how she swept in and took over the B-meet. And her Armani looked fine. imho Hey Bethy. When you invite someone out, you pay! Enough about your, or anyone else's, private parts. I'm tired of your frat-boy "humor". And you can take your zero fucks and...
19. Took response to above posts to the Small Talk: Cup o' Joe thread.
20. Response to convo in MJ thread: There is already some tit-for-tat happening between countries who don't agree with another country's policies. For instance, just try, as a US citizen, to get into Canada if you have ever had a DUI. My understanding is this was done as a response to US not allowing entry to people from Canada, and other countries, who have a marijuana violation. I believe Great Britain has also complained about that. I could imagine a country could decide that they don't want anyone in their country who has violated a gun law. Or has a penchant for assault rifles. Probably not likely but...
21. Don't yet have it in me to watch the video (I need to stay awake) but in that freeze-frame Spurgie looks kinda' skeered. Just an odd capture. But agree he is a cutie. Will Bin get a drippy sundae tomorrow? Tacos (4 life)? Laid? :::snerk:::
