  1. First Sunday without this show and I'm already missing it dearly. I've been thinking...if there was one thing I would have liked to have seen this episode it would have been a short scene near the end or aftercredits showing Fogg writing a postcard to the Italian boy from episode 2. I hope he sent him a postcard like the the boy asked him too :(
  2. Boo. Don't tease us with 20000 Leagues and then not deliver. Who cares about Disney. I guess I'd be a lil concerned on how they'd fit our trio into the story. 20000 Leagues is its own story with its own set of characters and trying to shove our trio into someone else's story might do more harm than good. I'd be worried that they'd all be battling for screentime. Would still like to see a 20000 Leagues adaptation tho. If they wanna keep the Jules Verne universe connected they could always have the trio show up near the end after everything is all said and done with Captain Nemo, only to find out that they missed out on the adventure. Basically a fun lil cameo.
  3. I found it a bit stressful more than anything. Not the most feel-good Christmas episode out there. Still had a few solid moments sprinkled in thru out, though.
  4. 2x07 Christmas ep: Kind of a stressful Christmas episode imo???? Trickie Woo drama (I knew they wouldn't kill him off but still...I kept suggesting to my mom that they needed to bring in his lil friend he was romancing in the cricket ep. That would have cheered him up) A small fake out with Tristan's exam results and overall kind of a downer in terms of everything for him (Maggie getting married, him being told once again that he needs to take things more seriously even though he's already trying really hard, etc.) Mrs. Hall being high-key stressed the entire episode made me feel stressed. Mean farmer man.>:( A looming war with the plane. Like, we all know it's coming but there's something about how they've just slowly dragged out this nagging sense of dread this season. Congrats to Tristan for passing!!!! And them spending Christmas with Mrs. P was really nice and warmed my heart. Season 2 thoughts: There was definitely more focus on the people than the animals this season. Could have used 15-20% more animals. James' and Helen's relationship is progressing very nicely. Episode 6 was the best episode of the lot by far.
  5. Asdfghjkl I was wondering why last week's "next time on atwi80d..." Preview for the finale stated "season finale" instead of "series finale”!!!!! Are we actually gonna get a season 2 with this trio covering 20,000 Leagues?!?!?!?! Please say yes please say yes!!! good finale! Loved everything Fogg x estella. They finally got closure. And who knows, maybe they'll run into each other again some day. Glad Bellamy got boo'd all the way out the door. Surprised the telegram didn't get brought up in the Convo tho. It would have been better if that bar tab equalled to about 20000 pounds or if the police were there to meet him at the door, etc. He got off easy, but it proved that Fogg was the better man. I know passepartout has always had doubts, but I thought he was just a lil too much of a Debbie downer when they were waiting for Fogg to leave on the boat. There was no way in heck he would have been allowed in that fancy dining room tho, but at least it didn't go totally unaddressed I suppose. *I'm so glad the trio stuck together at the end. Love them together. **Overall thoughts on the series: I think they struck gold with this trio. They have crazy good chemistry together, which I've stated before. Imo this series was a really solid, character-driven story. Started decently strong, ended strong. Favorite/strongest episodes: Italy, Hong Kong, the Island (minus the hypothermia bit) and the finale. Least fav/weakest ep: India for me. While super hammy David Tennant was entertaining...it was a lil too much at times, especially that big speech about love.
  6. This! It's been bugging me all season! It's been a long time since season 1 but I vaguely remember there being a nephew (nephews?). School? With his dad? (Or is Leah's hubby dead? I literally can't remember at this point. It's been too long)? Forgotten about?
  7. Well that's certainly a way to end the season. Certainly left room for a potential season 3. Oh Max... I'm ready for Oskar's boss to get axed.
  8. Liked the look of this episode. The overall aesthetic of the episode (color scheme between the scenery and costuming/set/everything) was on point. Glad that Abigail's dad knows our trio is alive. He was worrying me a bit the last few episodes :( Uh oh- I wonder if Bellamy is realizing if Fogg is to be stopped he's probably gonna have to do it himself at this point. The postcard!!!!! aaahhhh!!! So it was sent from America? So...I take it...it's from estella??? Seems like the only option at this point. I know things didn't really end well between them, but it seems like a pretty harsh thing to do considering it's been more than a decade or whatever since they parted ways. If it's her then she sure knows how to hold a grudge. I don't really see how it could have been anyone else at this point. I guess we'll see next episode!
  9. Pretty episode! Glad the cows are gonna be alright :') Dare I hope they're finally bringing back the Mrs. Hall/son storyline after it's been ignored the entire season? Tied into the looming war it seems.
  10. This. You can tell romance isn't very high on Max's list of priorities. He's more of a "married to his work" kinda fellow.
  11. Clara and Max still have some feelings to sort thru...
  12. 2x05 Cricket match-themed episodes are always so entertaining lololol. Good match but nothing will ever hold a candle to The Durrells iconic cricket episode for me. Knew Blondie and Hugh would hook up eventually. Yay for communication! Glad Hugh and Helen got a chance to talk things out.
  13. Could be considered grand for the situation they were in, at least compared to that icky fruit. But I see what you're saying. The hypothermia bit was a lil questionable tho. We had some of the same thoughts. Bellamy feeling a lil guilty? Good. Tho I suppose it could be bc he probably wouldn't get any money if Fogg died. Poor Abigail's dad. I worry about him. Nice episode. Also pretty sure they referenced a meme in the beginning of the episode...
  14. So much this. I said something similar last season. Max and Amelia, while intellectually a match, have absolutely zero romantic chemistry. Doesn't matter which actress either. Clara and Max, however, have romantic chemistry...but are leading very different lives. I honestly wish they'd do away with the Max romance subplot entirely. Episode talk: Max just grabbing the bomb, awkwardly running with it and then chucking it in the river (and the delayed explosion) got a big grin out of me. Lol.
  15. 2x04: Poor Tristan! Here Mrs. hall threatened Siegfried to have Tristan qualified enough by his Bday so they could give them the bag, so I assumed he had qualified thru apprenticeship (while obv not knowing) or something...nope. oof. Not a fan of the Blondie. Very rude. Props to Siegfried's lady friend for trying her best to keep things going despite the tense and awkward circumstances.
  16. Very good episode imo. Probably my second favorite after the Italy episode. The whole garden party scene was perfection with the music and everything. Recognized the governor's wife (Lady Clemency or whatever her name was)! Victoria Smurfit who played a great rendition of Cruella de Vil in Once Upon a Time!
  17. Add Grantchester to the list too. They started to stray before they even covered the end of book 1... I agree about the promo. I wish they promoted the show just a lil bit more. Along with the other shows that get the late slot. Deserves a little more social media love than it gets. Would it hurt pbs (masterpiece?) to make a "stay tuned...VB up next!" post after acgas wraps up for the night? :( As for the newest episode itself: I vote they ditch both Clara and Amelia and the romantic nonsense altogether and upgrade the archivist lady's role. She can be the leading lady (or most prominent female character at least). A different actress and Max and Amelia still have zero romantic chemistry...yay.
  18. 2x03 Tiny bit of a downer episode with the cow situation :( Also...was that one of the problematic maids from Downton Abbey playing the widowed wife.?...Ethel? Edna??? Ethel?? Something with an E? Or am I just tripping?
  19. I had a big stupid grin on my face when Fogg gave that big cheesy romantic speech. Lol. They must have picked up new luggage and clothes at some point. Here Fogg was down to a wad of cash and his one postcard last episode...
  20. You could figure out something went down with the countess involving a child in the first episode, but for him to be used as a red herring? Wasn't expecting it to be the lady in waiting/maid/??? Good twist imo.
  21. Finally found the forum for this show. Lol. I looked last week but I seemed to have missed it. As someone who has not read the book nor watched any previous movie adaptations, I'm going into this totally blind and have been really enjoying it! I'm sure there's been a number of changes and updates but I can't be bothered by them this time around. Ignorance is bliss. Lol. It's been a fun lil adventure so far. Great to watch during the gloomy winter months. I think Fogg, Fix and Passepartout are a really solid trio. I feel like this adaptation wouldn't work nearly as well if they didn't have the chemistry they do. Another great episode! Jane Digby was a good companion for this week's episode. Her and her hubby. The actress who played her and David Tennant starred in an episode of Dr. Who together, did they not? Water on Mars or something? She was awesome in that too. Passepartout :( tbh tho I can't really blame him for potentially taking up the evil dude's offer. He's had it rough.
  22. 2x02: This episode went by really fast?!?!? James and Helen are finally making progress! Hurrah!!! A potential beau for Mrs. Hall??? Also, surprised to see how they've basically dropped the Mrs. hall/son storyline for now. It's one of the gals from Call the Midwife! Not used to seeing her without a habit on. Lol. It was throwing me off. All the recent jibber jabber in this forum reminded me that I'm one of the few on here that haven't read the books nor watched the old series lololol.
  23. Found out this show got renewed for second season only a week ago. I had checked a good handful of times over the past two years to see if it got renewed but i must have stopped checking right before they announced it. Lol. Golly. Two years. Pbs didn't offer a lil refresher for the previous season before the episode either so if my memory is super foggy I apologize in advance. Haha So...a timeskip? Of about a year-ish? Can't remember. Clara's got a new man, Max has his own practice, he an amelia stayed in touch until about two months before the present (?)...time has passed. Amelia...is that a different actress playing her? I wonder why if so. The archivist is a total keeper. She's rad.
  24. It feels so good to have this show back. James' momma was being way too pushy. His dad was doing a much better job at reading his feelings. Oof. Tristan wwwhhhyyyyy. Can't believe he murdered that poor old lady's bird. Glad his not passing has finally been brought up. Couldn't keep it hidden forever. the war is coming :( James and his love for animals makes my heart ache sometimes. Glad the dog got a second chance.
