  1. Speaking for myself, my comments are not so much about the article itself as it is about the opinions that surround the article. The article was well written, and its nice to read an appreciation for "underdog" characters. I don't agree so much with the implication that Krista is some how betraying some feminist ideal that has never existed on any Shondaland show as far as I can tell, and that because of this betrayal, the show will now plummet in the ratings and the characters and viewers that are left are somehow less worthy. I think it was kind of tacky for Jessica Capshaw's husband to tweet it out and the reactions to it and the reactions to the reactions to it are toxic. Just the notion that any of us have any idea of what any of these actors feel about each other or their boss or the show is just ridiculous. The theories that gleaned by a cryptic instagram quote, or who is following who on whatever stupid app, or the thought that any actor MUST speak out on anything otherwise they are loyal to this person or that person is also ridiculous. I made the mistake of checking out a tag on twitter to see if I missed any spoilers and the amount of people out there who are speaking authoritatively about what Ellen, Jesse, Sarah, Jessica, Krista, etc. think and feel and what clearly happened behind the scenes, is just insane and its why I hope that they all sit around with expensive champagne and laugh at all of us. I enjoy gossip as much as anyone, and social media as a promotional tool is a double edged sword for the actors/showrunners, but it all gets to be too much sometimes.
  2. And the supporting cast is hardly ever funny anymore, they are caricatures. What happens in nearly every sitcom, and what I feared would happen here, is upon us. They take what is funny about a certain character (the Boss's privilege/obliviousness, Charlie's weirdness, Diane's mean streak) and have turned them up to 1,000. "Baby party = cocaine?" That doesn't even make sense, you stupid racist. Diane is 1 step from pushing Black Nanny down the stairs a la The Omen and Charlie is like a danger to those around him. Get it together, show! Clearly, the answer, as always, is more Junior! :)
  3. Social media is a fucking poison. I hope to god that all of the actors on the show read the ridiculous tweets, articles and conspiracy theories that arise around this show constantly and laugh their asses off together, whether sitting in their million dollar trailers, getting hair and makeup done, having their nannies/assistance fetch them things or between cashing the checks that they get for making out with ridiculously hot people that aren't their spouses. There are NO victims here.
  4. Honestly, (and I apologize in advance for this being so bitchy and for my being a broken record), too bad. I sat through 2 Japril centrics, I sat through 2 centrics about Owen's sister who isn't even a recurring character on the show, I sat through 2 near centrics of Maggie one of which was like her 2nd episode, I sat through Penny's character development, I sat through numerous Callie centrics including the musical, I sat through a centric with Meredith and Nathan on a plane that was a waste of time because Nathan is gone, and I sat through the inconsistent mess that was seasons 11-13. I have been waiting to see Alex's family in Iowa since they were mentioned in season 4. I want Arizona and April to get a respectful sendoff, but it shouldn't come at the expense of Alex or Jo or any of their development or screentime. As it is, Alex is the only longtime character that has never been a part of a centric episode and that is what it is, but for many fans, Alex's story is just as important as April and Arizona's, not to mention Penny's, Owen's sister or Teddy's. He and Jo have been relegated to minor characters plenty of times so that other characters' stories could be told and so that the many, many departures and backstage issues could be handled. I really couldn't care less about what kind of wedding Jo and Alex have or what kind of attention it gets, but I do want to see Alex's trip to Iowa to get as much attention as any of those stories that I mentioned above. I have enjoyed April's storyline this season, but it really, really irritates me that one of the only ways to get decent screentime or storylines on this show is either to leave or to be a guest star that the writers fall in love with. When the writers focus solely on those characters, they are left with undeveloped series regulars that no one cares about when all of the drama fades and they have to go back to writing for those characters that have been there but ignored for years. It only makes it more difficult for them, so I just don't understand it.
  5. I’m not sure if it was a permanent commitment? Maybe it will get a mention. Who is Nicky?
  6. I think that it is an interesting article but, as always, I struggle with the concept of feminism when it comes to anything Shonda. I know that these characters meant a lot to many, many people (as is the case with any character on a show), and from all appearances things were handled very, very poorly. But the whole refrain of "this happened on International Woman's Day!!!!" just doesn't work for me. Two actresses on a popular but aging television show didn't have their 6-figure contracts renewed. No matter how it happened or why, that really is what it comes down to. And I know that Arizona and April represented characters that aren't often seen on tv, so I realize that importance of that, but I guess I just don't have it in me for that level of outrage.
  7. I would only love it if afterward (and I know this is mean) Alex and Jo stepped over her body on their way to a fabulous honeymoon.
  8. I saw that. I was kind of hoping it would be a centric-ish episode, but oh well, I should probably stop hoping for those for Alex LOL. Also, do you have any idea about the listing of guest stars? I noticed that no one from Alex's family was listed, does that definitely mean that they won't appear in the episode?
  9. From the tidbits I have read on Twitter (I can hunt them all down and post them but I really don't want to :\), I don't think that Jo and Alex have anything to do with the church wedding. James Pickens Jr. posted a photo with his daughter who is guest starring as a bride so maybe something happens at the church and some doctors have to go there. Also, I have not heard anything specific about Kimmie coming back, but I did read that the actress was originally scheduled for 8 episodes and I don't think she has been in that many. Of course, stuff gets cut all the time, so its possible that some of her scenes got cut. Wouldn't it be just like Izzie to show up to ruin Alex's wedding?
  10. Either that or April dies just as they say their vows a la The Godfather/every other wedding on Greys. ?
  11. Oh I totally understand why they did it and I don’t blame them, I just felt bad for Alex and the situation in general. I’m hoping they can figure something out to help her and maybe she can return.
  12. WHATTTT????? Is this real? Please don’t tease me with that.
  13. My guess for the Jolex wedding is either Joe's bar or like BaseOps said, Jackson's boat. My preference would be them just eloping by themselves, but Joe's bar would be runner up.
  14. This was a very sad episode. I was fine until the end when Richard's friend died and he sobbed across the bed then I lost it a little. Poor Richard, he has had a tough go of it. I understand why she did it, but Kimmie leaving without saying goodbye to Alex really bummed me out. I wonder if she'll be back? I would hope that whatever happened with Harper Avery it doesn't prevent them from trying to help a dying kid if they can. I really liked Jo tonight. I wish that this was how they wrote her ridiculous backstory from the beginning. She was funny when she was recounting her get away plan, complete with corpses from the morgue and a shady guy named Mikey, but then when she told Alex that she would like to take his name because she had never shared a last name with someone who loved her, it was a bit of a gut punch and grounded the earlier scene and it was such a simple line. Much, much better than the living in the car refrain or feeling sorry for herself. Oh my god, now I can settle for nothing less than this! Just picture the looks on Catherine and Jackson's face if a rival hottie shows up, whips off his shirt revealing even more spectacular abs than Jackson and takes the Averys for everything they are worth. And then they have to move into Meredith's attic! Hahahahahaha - please show give me this!
  15. I watched it last night and it was really good! There are some gory parts - be warned!
  16. But they could easily have April just transfer to another hospital in town and take Harriet with her. Then she and Jackson can share custody and she gets mentioned twice a season and that's that.
  17. This might be an awakening for her, though, and she decides that she wants to move with Sofia to NY, if not to reconcile with Callie, then at least to keep the family together. As for April, I was skeptical before about her dying, but all those apologies and that speech about to Jackson about how she knew that Harriet was safe when she wasn't around do not bode well for her and that really, really sucks. I honestly don't know why they can't just have her move to another hospital or back home with or without Harriet. I know they say that fans would never believe that April would leave Harriet, but honestly if they cared about what fans wanted then April wouldn't be leaving in the first place.
  18. Yeah he is my favorite and his absence would be a huge loss to the show. And of course he new Elvis Costello. Mediocre white singer?? How DARE you, Dre. Yeah, it’s not funny at all. And honestly, I feel like Dre’s constant harping to Junior about having only one way to be authentically black (Dre’s way) seems to just backfire and have the opposite effect. He clearly doesn’t really know or value his son if he doesn’t think that Junior can stand on his own the way he is wherever he goes. When he pulled that jacket out I about died. I also loved that Junior wanted to get his letters by snail mail. There is something romantic about opening an envelope vs. staring at a screen. Of course Dre ruined the moment. My affection and defensiveness regarding Junior is bordering on unhealthy ?.

But it wasn’t about Earn. They were doing something that meant a lot to Van. The fact that he couldn’t suck it up for 24 hours just shows how little of a priority she is to him. Van didn’t love the strip club but she went because Earn wanted to. And I’m sure there was nothing real about the strip club to someone who lives like Van does everyday.
  20. I totally agree with this, I just wish it weren’t the same few characters every time. Either some actors are really, really pushing for screen time or else the writers have blatant favorites. Either way, I wish they would get rid of the actors that they have no interest in writing for.
  21. I liked the scene of Meredith and Alex at the end (the show can style her beautifully when they try), but it wasn’t lost on me that Alex showed up for 30 seconds to advise and support Mer. Nothing about him, his cases, things with Jo. I believe that their entire relationship would consist of this dynamic should they ever get together, so I definitely don’t want it to happen. But I think you’re far from the only one.
  22. The scenes with April were good and I liked the vibe between Meredith and Ben from Felicity, but I’m not really sure what the point of a lot of this was. Did we need closure on Teddy/Owen? And this is like the third time that Meredith has “gotten ready to date.” We’ve barely seen Arizona, Jo and Alex have only spoken once since Paul left and that was to fight then get engaged and I have no idea where things stand with Amelia/April/Greg German. Do these kinds of episodes irritate me when they aren’t pushing any storylines forward.
  23. I’m sure that’s true, but considering what Bow has to put up with on a daily basis from Ruby, Dre has it pretty easy. I wish all of the siblings had been there.
  24. Dre is the worst host ever. For all of her rules, you would have thought that Ruby would have taught him that you never insult what a guest brings to your home. Then again, Ruby was all over Gary about his pie. ”The twins have lost their wonder.” Thank god for Junior.

Oh my god, that Harry Belafonte song at the end! It was so beautiful (he is so beautiful) that I actually teared up a little even though I'm glad that they ended whatever it was they had going on. Ugh, this pissed me off the most! Van even said in the car ride up there that he wasn't going to enjoy it, but that clearly it mean a lot to her and she wanted to enjoy it. I knew right then that he was going to be a complete baby about all of it and ruin it for her. And I get that this was way out of his element (my Dad is German and I know my way around an Oktoberfest, but that was something else), but it was such a unique experience and it seemed so unlike what we have seen of Van so far, that I don't see how he couldn't have at least been curious about it. It was such a kind of dorky thing to be enthusiastic about that it made me think Van was even more adorable than I did before. Clearly everyone there was really into it, which is usually contagious, but Earn seems to care way too much about what other people think. Even people dressed in lederhosen and animal masks apparently, which is pathetic. I hope Van goes again next year alone and has a great time and hooks up with 5 hot Germans. For a main character, Earn is sooo passive. Other than easy money, what does he want? I lost my patience with him last season, so I'm not mad, but come on. I don't think that Donald Glover is a bad actor (I've only seen him in this and an episode of Community or two), but truly he is a cypher, and if that's the point, then ok, but maybe I'm not really getting it.
