as @Prevailing Wind wind said in much more detail, here's the bottom line:

Medicare Advantage is NOT THE SAME AS a Medicare Supplemental Plan

Going into details would be definitely off-topic, but my father deeply regretted going to MA from his supplemental policy in the last year of his life. MA is like an HMO with LOTS of restrictions.

Thank you.  I should have included information about a Medicare Supplemental Plan in my original post.  Medicare Advantage Plans are crap compared to a Supplemental Plan.  They have restrictions on which doctors, hospitals, labs, etc.  you can use.  They have their own "networks" which is why they ask you for your zip code.  I'm on Medicare and have a Medicare Supplemental Plan and one for Rx.  Yes, I pay for them but it's not that much and I can go to any doctor, any specialist, any hospital.  Calling the 800 number on those commercials will get you an insurance agent whose job is to sell you a policy.

I hate those commercials because they are so misleading.  They make it sound like a MA policy is a good thing.  It is not.  I went with the AARP recommendations and have no complaints.

It's actually fairly common as a Career/Tech Ed program. High schoolers in my urban area go to real firehouses and train at the real public safety academy, and they're going to their firehouse every day for 2-3 periods. Chicago Public Schools actually has a real program, as well. This is why Girls on Fire never made complete sense to me; it's already a program and girls aren't excluded from it.

The paramedicine program makes even less sense to me. Brett and Mouch dress in nice plain clothes, roll around to 80s music in a 1980s creeper van, and essentially pretend they're home health aides. Honestly, I'll take Girls on Fire, just without Kidd hanging all over Severide. :-)

TBH, I have a low threshold for workplace BS, so if I was an actor who has had no substantive storyline outside of romance storylines and sitcom storylines (barring the Julie and sister story, which was quickly dropped and never heard about again), and was then relegated from the #3-#4 lead spot back to the supporting main cast because my onscreen boyfriend left, while an 8th billed cast member leapfrogged me to take the #3-#4 lead spot because her on-screen boyfriend didn't leave, I'd be out. 100%, full stop gone, like YaYa, Torrey, and Jesse. We'll see what Brett actually has going on, but I'm not optimistic.

I followed your link and read the article.  There's a huge difference between that program and Girls on Fire.  The one they're actually doing is accredited and seems structured like Junior ROTC

Exactly this. This is why I don't buy into actors only leaving if they have another job lined up. We've repeatedly seen that is not always the case. Jesse being a prime example. If your character is being reduced to a secondary character without any meaningful storylines outside of romance, then it probably is time to move on. There's no longer a challenge to get better as an actor within the show. And to challenge yourself, you need to see what other roles are out there that can push you to become better.

Not to mention, I'm pretty sure Kara Killmer will be just fine financially if she took a year off from acting and went to Hollywood to audition for some tougher roles.

I think it depends on the actor's financial situation.  If they need that paycheck, they won't walk away.

May be nothing but they’ve already put more thought into and done better with incorporating Brett’s new side paramedicine program into the show and lining it up with Brett’s actual job duties/role on the show than they ever did with the Girls on Fire side program.

That's because Girls on Fire is a ridiculous concept.  There's no way the city of Chicago would assume the liability of teenage girls doing drills on their premises with their equipment.  It's a law suit waiting to happen.

I really won't be surprised if Kara Killmer/Brett leaves at the end of the season.

I doubt she will leave unless she has another job.   I'm sure she's making good money on Chicago Fire.  Going from a really good salary to no money coming in isn't something I would want to do.

This episode was kid of heavy on cops doing bad things. There was the drunk driving with kids one, then outing they had a safe place for these things which included their own Fight Club and then Baker's husband's abusing arrest.

I totally missed any mention of a Fight Club.  My mind must have wandered off for a bit.  I tend to do that if what I'm watching isn't holding my interest.   Sadly, Blue Bloods has not been holding my interest lately.

When he was 16 or so, Matt’s dad died, his mom went to prison, and he lived with an uncle, and THAT really should have been something the writers mentioned to support why Matt decided to consider leaving to foster them. He’s been there.

Matt's dad didn't just die.  His mother murdered him.

Agreed.  I wonder if they will realise that they are missing out on a LOT of potential viewers for 1883.  I don't understand why they can't have it on their pay service first, and then air on regular Paramount a month or so later.

Let's not forget that the "regular Paramount" is a cable channel that we're paying for now.   They want us to double pay for two (2) Paramount channels and I will not do it!

Regarding Alexa spying on you, it's not as if we constantly carry a device that knows everything about you.  Oh, wait.

    Exactly.

I swear that my phone listens to my conversations.   I work in an office with two other women and we found that after discussing something, ads for that particular item start popping up on our devices.  I expect that after searches but I didn't expect it after conversations.  It happens and it's pretty creepy.

Exactly. They can love Danny all they want, but he has proven that he makes an inferior officer, it's been said that he has been reprimanded time and time again, he has flat out broken the law, is extremely insubordinate, etc, yet Frank doesn't kick his officer ass to the curb. Not only that but they stand by and allow Danny to treat Jamie, and now Eddie, really badly. They enable Danny instead of telling him to straighten up and fly right. I know they love Jamie but I don't think they admire him.

They admire him for being at the top of his class at Harvard Law and again at the Police Academy and most recently the sargeant's exam.   They can't publicly admire Danny who breaks, bends and ignores the rules.

  10. Exactly!  Jamie doesn't look up to Danny the way he looked up to Joe.  Jamie (Frank, Pop and Erin too) all know that Danny is a hot head and often acts without thinking.   They love him but they know exactly who and what he is.    The one they admire the most is Jamie.  He's the smart one and has proven himself time and time again.

Just curious; what parts do you dislike?

I like the show, but don’t like how they keep removing favorite characters each season. First, it was Clinton. Now it’s Kellan.

I love the cases & the crime solving, but the stories are average. FBI & International are doing a better job IMO

I dislike losing characters that I loved, i.e. Clinton and Tali's grandparents.     I hate what they did to Tali.  She's not likeable at all.  I hate that they changed Jess' personality from being strict with Tali to letting her get away with horrific behavior.   I'm not too thrilled with the way Jess is treating Sarah right now.  He's not treating her the way he should.  He lets Tali walk all over her and that's just wrong.

Wait, wasn't the point of Brett's program to have separate EMTs for non-emergency calls? How does giving her one beat-up old ambulance cover that? Won't they need two additional EMTs to cover those calls? How can Mouch cover those calls when he's on truck? And how does the department in charge of EMTs measure her success at this? If they deem it successful do all the other fire houses get junked ambulances for non-emergency calls?

I'm seriously wondering if Jesse Spencer is really leaving the show.

Those are all good questions.  Unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you and I can't imagine what the writers intend to do.   Each storyline is overly complicated and makes little sense.

I haven’t watched this show in forever. Why is the Darden mother in prison. I know she got arrested in season two but I thought it was resolved and they moved away.

Heather became a drunk and kept getting arrested and moving for a "new start."

This was her 4th DWI and it came with serious jail time in Oregon this time.

  14. The thought of losing Casey makes me very sad but I honestly don't believe he will leave and move to Oregon. That said, I have absolutely no idea how the writers are going to get out of the mess they just made. 😒

On the flip side......Hallelujah! No Stella Kidd tonight! 😊

Just saw the Google Store commercial with the girl searching for vintage scalloped sunglasses which we think are for her, but winds up giving as a gift to her grandmother.  Inside the box is also a photo of her grandmother wearing glasses that looked exactly like those when she was a young woman

Great commercial!  I saw it yesterday

  16. I never liked Heather and now I really, really dislike her.

I guess the writers/showrunners think we're too stupid to figure out how old Griffin should be.

If Casey is going to take those boys in, he'll have to get a new place to live.  I think he's still living with Severide.   If I'm rememberig it correctly, Brett's apartment is too small for all of them.   Having the boys is bound to become an issue Casey and Brett.

I hope the drill exercise Severide made Cruz perform at the Academy cures his latest crisis.  I'm not in the mood to go through more Joe Cruz drama.

  17. I knew this wouldn't end well for Chris.  I hate this plot.  It's been done on so many shows.  I think it was done on this show (FBI) too.  There was a restauranat owned by a muslim and they made some guy patronize the place and do surveillance.  OA was pissed just like he was tonight.

I didn't watch FBI International and doubt I ever will because I hate that they pushed it into the 9pm timeslot hoping to appeal to FBI and FBI Most Wanted viewers.  I don't like being manipulated.

Didn't really like the "everyone on the right is a bad guy" plot.  This plot keeps popping up in all shows now.  A few points about this season.

.  The actress who plays Sarah was coming out in Yellowstone on Paramount channel.  So maybe people will get their wish and she'll be gone soon.

.  Did they really have to go there with Tali?  Another nice kid turned rebellious, ugh!

.  I like the new agent Kristin.  I'm glad she's showing the others, in particular Barnes, that she isn't just a pretty face!  She's gutsy and I like her.

.  The actress who plays Hana will be coming back soon.  She was on maternity leave/

.  Someone mentioned that they thought Sarah will be abducted or killed.   Like I mentioned earlier, she was coming out in Yellowstone

.  Speaking of Barnes, I wouldn't be sad if she would decide to leave.

What do you mean by Sarah coming out in Yellowstone?

ETA:  OMG!   I just looked her up.   I had no idea that was Teeter!

As soon as I saw her name I knew it was Teeter.  She's Michael Landon's daughter.

I wonder if they are setting up a depression/mental health storyline for Cruz. Because he feels not himself but can't pinpoint why etc.

I hope not.  I don't want to sound mean but I'm tired of Cruz's problems.

Not now.  Most districts require age 5 by September 1st for kindergarten.  So she would be in junior high, 7th grade. Yes, it could be attached to a high school building/ but no commingling of classes etc.  Nor would Jess be treating her as if she was a freshman.

It's age 5 by December 1st here in New York
