OK but how fun would it be to see Sam and Dean hunt a ghost that doesn't really have its "own" skin/bones/body? I mean, how would they kill it?

I don't know that I've watched the show in order since the first go around! Usually, I go back and watch previous seasons because some episode will just pop into my mind and then I have to watch it. Or even just most of it.

Any other suggestions for S1? I'm thinking I'm going to try Scarecrow next. Not tonight, though.

Just too too too tired. Does this week feel inordinately long to anybody else? It feels like it's been this week for the last 6 years. I barely remember a time when it wasn't this week. Maybe every time other than this week has just been an illusion and I'm stuck in an infinitely repeating loop. Apparently, my loop is a lot less violent than Mystery Spot but discombobulating and life-draining as well in its own way.

Rue! You get extra points for using discombobulating! I think that was my Mom's favorite word. Thanks for reminding me!

In the first season, I also liked The Benders, Hell House, and Something Wicked. Something Wicked especially because it shows us the brothers in the early years, and the start of Dean's guilt.

  2. Love Provenance! My favorite of this season, because of the eBay haunted painting! The Benders is a close second.

I have the same problem TripleD, I have to watch them in order too! But you catch a lot of forgotten lore, and really start to understand The Boys relationship development.(Especially in hindsight) There's some really subtle stuff in the early episodes!

Edit to add; Asylum is a true classic! Grew up near an abandon one, and it was a magnet for the local teens. Drove by myself, buy never had the nerve to go in.

Aww, I'm gonna fall behind...won't be able to get to disc 2 until tomorrow night...Boo!

Why does work always ruin all the best things in life?

And that TripleD, is why being retired is so cool!

But my gardens are soon going to take me away from our morning viewings. :( But we'll keep up!

We haven't watched the first four seasons in a long time, and I love picking up some lore I've forgotten. But then, Super-wiki sends me to "Cannon Discrepancies" and Mick and I are off on another discussion!

    From the film:

"And because he was so pathologically jealous of her, he assumed that she was jealous of him. Therefore, if he felt a strong attraction to any other woman, the mother side of him would go wild."

I think when he met Madeline he was attracted to her, which made Mother jealous so "she" went out and acted the floozy because of Norman's deep guilt over his attraction to Madeline. Doe that make any sense?

Okay, I'm putting it together now. We were a bit confounded by the whole bar scene, but this puts it in a good prospective. Still working through the gay bar, but this gives me something to ponder. Be back after Mick and I hash this out.

    Thanks Peacheslatour!

  5. We have all the DVD's, but always put on TNT in the morning for Supernatural. Mick and I are both really getting into it. It's fun to read about the episodes beforehand on Super-wiki, and look for all the inside stuff. We even enjoyed "Bugs" today!

I lived there for about 20 yrs in north Jersey, Montclair. I don't live there now - I'm in Chicago. I still miss the Italian food that you can find EVERYWHERE. The first time I ordered a meatball sandwich here I was very disappointed!

At least you can get a deep-dish pizza right? Death liked them in Chicago, so they must be good!

You can't get descent Italian food in Idaho, I've given up. : (

Also devastating was the pretty sparkly life of Emma and Dylan breaking. It's still hard for me to believe that neither of them had googled any info back home before now, but at least Emma finally did, and now it's all going to go to hell. I hated their fight, it was so hard to see.

    That fight broke my heart!

I thought for sure the new sheriff gave Norman a real glass for his water was so she could run his prints and get some DNA as well.

Nestor did a great job directing this episode, he's got a good eye.

And with each piece of new intel Norman collected I thought for sure Mother was going to show up. I think his first stop once inside the house is going to be the basement freezer to confront what else he knows to be true. Though I suspect Marion's arrival may delay that trip.

While we all know that at least Dylan comes back to White Pine Bay....I hope the rest of his new family stays put.

Only 5 more episodes. I will truly miss this show when it's over, but I am enjoying every minute of the journey til we get there.

I never considered the glass being used for finger prints or DNA. Great point!

Marion works for R.A. Bloch Realty. Heh.

Add me as another who was let down by the quality of Rihanna's acting so far. Even if they really felt they needed to get a "name" to play the role, I'm sure there are numerous others who would have done it. She just did not seem to fit in with the rest of the show.

Norman-as-Norma hooking up with random guys at a gay bar, that I did not see coming!

I didn't notice Bloch Realty! How cool? Thanks!

I check Twitter a couple times a day, it's my main news source so I don't have to watch CNN and throw things at the TV. Depending on my mood, I'll watch Rachel Maddow, because she takes a long time with one story and always has more info than other TV news.

I went thru the needing to know everything and talk about it during W's 8 yrs. I can't maintain that level of involvement and anger anymore because, as they say in N.J., it gives me agita.

Are you in Jersey auntvi? I moved from Jersey to Idaho when we retired.  Lived in Middletown and Westfield. I miss the pizza and Subs, but there's a new place opening called "Jersey Mikes" near us, so I have hopes!!

@Mick Lady I have an @Omegamom sighting!  She was on Twitter briefly today to let me know she's alive and well.  She's currently preoccupied with her teenager and the new POTUS drama. She's also trying to write.

She's still watching the show.  Hopefully she'll pop back in -- perhaps I can coax her after the finale.

I know what it's like to get wrapped into the Trump Trauma.  There's days I want to throw my computer into the wall.  And days I just can't look at the computer because I'm worried about what new horror is out there.  So, she may be social media breaking.  I don't know for sure but I know many have chosen that route.  Maybe it'll get better.

    (Says the optimist)

Oh thank you SueB! I miss her. She was so kind to me (as you all were) during my cancer fight. Please tell her I asked about her!

Don't even mention the orange one (no caps, he doesn't deserve it) to me. I have blood pressure issues!

  11. Bates Motel Dreams Die First

Norman attempts to piece together Mother's movements. In Seattle, Dylan and Emma confront an ugly truth, while Sam's girlfriend, Marion, makes a spur-of-the-moment decision with far-reaching consequences.

I couldn't remember where this was being discussed, but found this on:

This is the first season to have 5 series regulars as Mark Pellegrino has been promoted as of Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell.  This season marks his first season as a series regular, since he was a guest in all his previous appearances.

Diane, I'm your friend, listen to me. Don't go on Super-wiki!!! You'll never come out. I've been there all week!

  14. According to "Dictionary of Angels: Including the Fallen Angels", Castiel is an Angel of Thursday in the occult lore. This may be a reference to the fact that Supernatural aired on a Thursday night on the CW network at the time of this episode's original broadcast. According to the newspaper that Dean looks at in the gas station, he pushed his way out of the grave on a Thursday.

    I haven't read any posts here. I'm in a Super-wiki hole.....

  15. Guys, I've spent my day in a "Black Hole" Not the bad kind, but we bought a new washer and dryer, and of course, they were delivered between "8 and 4"! Raining out, and Mick busy, so while I waited I hit "Super-wiki"! Did you know they even have a floor plan of "The Bunker?"

They showed at 3pm. I didn't even notice how late it was!

To be fair, I would totally take Norma’s wardrobe even if I have to take them from Norman Bates himself. The woman has the cutest clothes!

My only casualty, I lost my purple hat.  I'm standing in faith that a homeless person found it and it is keeping their head warm.  :)  Going to do nothing today.  I had a great time.  I would like to go back but during warm weather

    Not the purple hat!

Sounds like you had a blast, and I'm so happy for you! I was thinking about you in the snow. Tell us more when you're rested.

What happened to the cake? Were the 'issues" that bad? Sounds like a fun story, now that the drama is over!

Hey I am curious to know what was everyone's take on the scene last night when Norman comes home to the house. It's when he is kind of looking around right before standing in the kitchen and giving the famous stare. Notice that the house was dark and messy and it appeared that this time we were seeing it from Norman's point of view. Remember that kitchen before in his delusional state was fixed up when in reality it was a disaster. This time though he is going through the house and he cannot find mother and it seems as if he is just seeing now the reality of what the house looks like. I could be wrong but I am guessing that Norman gets moments of reality and this was one of the.

This some great insight Stringey! I didn't catch this and will have to think about it. But I think you're right about moments of reality. Norman does after all, keep track of his blackouts.
