If I'm a very good girl this year, I just know Santa will bring me all 5 seasons.

The question is, can you be a good girl? I We have the first three. When five comes out after the summer, or Netflix gets the whole series, we should give it a try! Let's keep in touch! I'm always on Supernatural!

I kind of lost track during the whole drug wars/Norma being blackmailed episodes. Between Romero and Dylan I think we have an even dozen. Bradley killed that guy that was screwing Norman's teacher, right?

    Yup.

Thought Romero had more. He seems to be always killing somebody!

Hate to see this place die. Hope we can form a rewatch, starting from season one. It would be fun knowing what we know now!

It was a sitcom in the late '80s, early '90s, centering around an AP history class.

Cool! I didn't watch much TV in the eighties, and feel so out of touch with that whole time period. I was in my 20's and had other, er, interests!

Is it worth watching? Is it om Netflix? Sounds like a cool show!

You were right about Jesse too. That's why I love it so much here. I can always find an expert!

Jesse is not a Nephilim.  Nephilim are half angel-half human.  Jesse is half-demon, half-human.  Two completely different things.

I saw that on a Head of the Class episode.

Thanks! I was confused on the exact lore. I got to hit Super-wiki more!

Never heard of Head Of the Class. Don't remember where I learned this, but I think an Education Major friend told me.

Except sadly, I'd be no good at Crowley... : (  I can't do snarky Scottish.

Don't sell yourself short! Your FF is my favorite, and I don't trust these writers to remember the canon that is Jesse.

Was Jesse adopted? His Mom was alive, so what's the deal with Kelly? Or is Jesse not considered a true Nephilim? His Dad was a demon, so maybe not...?

  6. Gosh Awesom0400, after thinking of your post a few days, I think you're the perfect person to write this!

Much more to say, but this site is screwing with me. Try again tomorrow!

  7. Good God Awesom0400, I wish you were writing for this show! I love Rowena, and bringing her into this mix would be (to use your words) delicious! I'd love to see who won with Crowley vs Luci!

Start writing! Bring in Jesse! Luci is here already, so bring it on. You know him so well!

    Supernatural will never die! ;)

Right there with you TripleD! With me and Mick, it's our show! Watched it from the pilot, have all the DVDs.

I liked this episode a lot! I'm beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, this child will not be born bad! And I loved Dean's freak out over Cas. TFW has always been my favorite storyline, and I love it that this episode reminded me of that. I did hate The Colt being destroyed! I'm hoping they come up with away to replace it, comet or not!

But no way would Dean's mix tape contain "Stairway To Heaven!" Yes, it fits, but most Zep freaks I know hate that song!

Just got around to watching today, It's planting time here, and we have seven flower beds and a 20' by 30' vegetable garden.

Edit to add; wouldn't next season be the perfect time to bring back Jessie? Dropping that storyline always bugged me, and he was very powerful! Jessie vs Luci's spawn!

    Awesom04000, what do you say?!

Does anyone remember the Big Bang Theory ep where Amy ruins the Indian Jones film Raiders of the Lost Arc for the boys by pointing out that at no point during the entire film did Indy's presence make the slightest difference to how things turned out? Kind of ruined it for me too - and Dabb should apply that test to every ep. If Sam and Dean aren't acting on the events or being affected by them the story needs chucking out and starting again.

    Heh. Never saw that episode, but as a math major, I used to love to point out to my English lit. friends that almost every Emily Dickinson poem could be recited to "The Yellow Rose Of Texas"! Think about it;

Because I could not stop for Death —
He kindly stopped for me —
The Carriage held but just Ourselves —
    And Immortality.

    Drove 'em nuts!

I love that the doors still squeak on Baby. That's such a great thing that Jensen won't let them change.

They do on my Bronco ('86) too. No amount of W-40 will fix it. But I love my Bronco, rarely drive it. Looks like it just came off the showroom floor!

I'll miss you peacheslatour, as much as this show! But I can PM you, and I'm always on Supernatural!

Mick calls this place Pre-Wop! I posted there, on TWoP, and on Mighty Big TV!

I loved the ending. Thought it was perfect. Didn't mind the plot holes at all! Sometimes you just have to go with it. As Chuck says on Supernatural, endings are hard! You always disappoint somebody! I'm just glad Dylan and Emma got their happy ending!

Given the final episode's title, "The Cord," I think it will be tied back into the very first episode: "You always have been. It's like there's a cord between our hearts."

Transcript of 01x01 - First You Dream, Then You Die

    Good catch!

I just saw the episode today, (watching the marathon), and was wondering, if you have the time; Is it common for people with DID for the different personalities to talk to each other? And maybe even not like each other? I was thinking about the episode where "Norma" asks Norman, "Do you even like me anymore?"

I read Sybil, but that was years ago! I seem to remember that the personalities didn't know each other, but I could be wrong, it was so long ago.

  13. I'm sure you guys all know, but I want to give you a heads up anyway. There's a half hour wrap show after Bates tonight.

I'm sad already! Watching the marathon an A&E now. It's a perfect day for it here, pouring rain!

No way would Emma try to take the baby from Dylan. She knows how screwed up his family is/was. They are his family now and I doubt she would break that up. She just needed to get out of Dodge because of the awfulness of what happened there and she wanted to get back to her kid. She will be waiting for Dylan  if he makes it out of there.

I hope so! I didn't intemperate the scene as saying she left him forever, just that she had to get away from WPB. I think she'll be waiting for him when all this is over with, if he survives!

Timetoread, your posts have been a pleasure for me to read! Thanks for taking the time, you said so much I wanted to!

Madeleine doesn't know Dylan's relationship with Norman and just assumes that Dylan knew him well his whole life. They didn't have a good relationship with each other until Norma and Norman moved to White Pine Bay and Dylan followed

I know it wasn't the right time, but I wish Dylan could have clued her in on this.

  15. Okay, now I understand why Norman's illness was more likely caused by his environment. Any ideas why his "other" identity was his Mother? Wouldn't he just have a completely different personality to deal with his abuse?

    1 hour ago, Complexity said:

A person is not born with Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID). Personality is formed as we grow; we are not born with one (or more!).

The general thought at this time is that mental illness is a mixture of nature and nurture. There is a theory called the diathesis-stress model that suggests mental illness is caused by a combination of the stresses in the environment (nurture) and a person's propensity to a mental illness (nature).

Each of us is born with a different propensity of mental illness. For example, some children tend to be more anxious (the baby that cries when sitting on Santa Claus' lap). Some may be more prone to becoming depressed (small disappointments affect them more strongly). And, yet, others seem to be more resilient (few things phase them). If all these children are exposed to the same environmental stresses, the more resilient child may be able to handle it without developing a anxiety or depression while the other children may end up with a diagnosable mental illness.

When applied to Norman, it would mean that his propensity of developing DID and his exposures to environmental stresses (trauma, abuse, sick mother) combined to cause his DID mental illness.

  16. Thanks TripleD, and peacheslatour! I'm still not sure if Norman was "born with it", or not. I know there's a big debate on "Nature vs Nurture", but I sure as hell don't know enough to make a qualified opinion on it. But the way Norma handled it must have been a major part of the reason why he became what he did. I think she was just so grateful to have the abuse gone from her life, she didn't recognize what it did to her son.

I never thought of Dylan feelings about being replaced! I can easily see why that would drive him away. I just hope to Chuck Dylan never realized how bad the abuse was! He seems to have some real empathy in regards to his Mom and Norman, I hate to think he just walked away!

But I agree, I don't think Norma was ill as much as she was damaged. Poor woman!
